This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Wasteland Workshop:
This is the second DLC for Fallout. It adds new options to the Base/Housbuilding sub-game.
This DLC was advertised like a Pokemon type of addon. Set up traps! Enslave Man and Monster and use dem to your own amusement and let them fight in a Arena against each other. Turns out that this is more like a: Build this Cage and wait 24h to gain Monster or Human enemy type X. This is just underwhelming!
It feels like there was no effort put into this dlc. In fact mods like Homemaker offer more and they are free!
I found my self using this mechanic more like a automatic farming tool for making caps more then using it like, i got no other way to put it, „intended“. Just Place these Cages in a Pit , surround them with turrets and there you go: free caps every 24h.

The other part is the arena fighting. You can put NPCs in a red or blue team. The problem is that there is no interface where you can manage them, gear them or something else. It has all been done through dialog and the moment you give them a team they turn hostile against the opposing site and start shooting wild.
It is done in a way that fits to the overall design of Fallout 4. Good ideas never thought complettly through. What a waste of money.

    Don't buy it

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First of all - THIS IS NOT A HATER REVIEW... I love Fallout universe, but this is just a shameless cash grab.

Lets take some time and take a closer look at the features it gives:

    - Concrete buildings - It is actually nice addition, I really like the look of new walls, floors and roofs. However it is not even worth 5$ as it is the only good addition.

Now lets talk why other mechanics suck or are just not that great.

    - New lights (a lot of them!) - It is nice to have all these new lights, but they are just not necesary. It feels like someone at bethesda said - Lets collect all lamps We have in the game and make them craftable. We are going to need a lot of things to fill the shallowness of this DLC.

    - Cages and arena - While I loved the idea of building your own arena, Bethesda ruined the concept completely. You can put Deathclaw cages in the middle of your town and after some time it will magically generate a monster... Really? Why could not they just thought of something more awesome??? Why would'nt they give us an option to craft the mesmetron? Then you would have to either "convince" bandits to go to your arena (bomb collars to control them) or send a vertibird or a group of settlers to capture the animal/monster.

Oh yeah... And you can farm the arena, by surrounding the cages with turrets to instantly kill everything that your cages generated.

    - New trophies - While some of them look cool, the rest are weird (WTF mounted cat's head).

And again this feature is ruined. You can kill any mirelurk to create any mirelurk trophy. Why couldn't We just drop a trophy item from the corresponding enemy?

    - And the last - 100 power generator... And it is too easy to build. What is the point of it? I get it... We have paid for it, so We can now get an overpowered generator... I am not whining about that it was added, but that it is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay to cheap to construct.

Well there is more minor features, but I just don't want to get into more details.

I give it 1 just because of concrete buildings. They look good.

Please don't buy it. It will only show the industry that there is actually a place for this kind of shameless practices. Just wait for mods that will make better mechanics... For free.

Many fallout user said "We want contents from past"!
So our Bethesda took contents from past.
    But it's not from skyrim.
Also it's not from New vegas and fallout 3.
    It's from Oblivion.
    It's called Horse Armor DLC.

Ok Bethesda. First you ruin the RPG aspect of one of my favorite franchises of all time, basically turning it into a mindless shooter to appeal to a wider audience FOR MONEY. And now you are trying to sell a shameless cash grab that isn't even worth it for free, FOR MONEY. Seriously what's the deal here?
The new walls and **** the **** useless new items? or the broken 'arena'?

I have lost all respect for Bethesda, hopefully they let Obsidian make another great Fallout game.
Because Bethesda sure doesn't know what fallout is all about.

So, umm - yeah... its a stuff pack that (on PC) has to compete with an active modding scene. - And it is loosing that battle - by quite a large margin.

Although it certainly is rather cheap for a DLC - the content is hardly worth anything. In fact ... many devs might be ashamed to ask for money for what it offers. In fact - there are a lot of games out there that added A LOT more

And that is what Bethesda should be for offering this DLC : be ashamed

there is kind of a conspiracy theory that says that the reason Bethesda has not yet released the G.E.C.K. is so modders cannot offer this type of content for free (and possibly better).

Now - the story might change for console players. Those have not been blessed by the hundreds of mods that double or tripple Fallout 4 game content. For a console player - this DLC might actually be a 5 or 6 instead of barely making a 1.

Gigantic pile of trash that adds nothing of value to the game.
It's not even worth it, not even for free.

This is something that can be modded. Bethesda wasn't even trying with this, just trying to fork some cash from the players.
Sure i got this when i paid for the season pass, but i expected better content, not this useless Minecraft tier garbage

Hearthfire for Skyrim added new voiced dialogue, new areas to live in, new foods, new crafting, adoption and I believe it was done by a "small team" of 2 people. As a season pass holder for "Fallout 4" I was massively disappointed with this excuse of a "DLC"
It adds very little to the game and the only good thing to come out of it was concrete building.
The arena part of the "DLC" was broken, just broken and over complicated!
This is just awful for PC owners, Mods add more than this!

I don't really understand all the hate. If you like working on settlements than you'll love this expansion. It's only 5 dollars. I would understand if the price was like Automatron but 5 bucks is not that bad. The arena is fun, the new traps can be great, and the new decorations/signs are great to decorate with.

This DLC is not for everyone, which is why it has such a low score. This should not be surprising. If one is not into settlement building in the game, then one should not be expected to find value in this DLC. This is the Hearthfires, or Gunrunners Arsenal, of the game. If one wants this kind of content, then it's great, but if one doesn't, it's a big meh.

But if you do like settlement

But if you do like settlement building, it's well worth the low low price. It's even included in the Season Pass. For the price of a burrito you get dozens of new lighting options, concrete buildings, buses, garden plots, pets, and much much more. PLUS death matches with honest-to-goodness deathclaws!

pfft people are pansies. Wasteland Workshop is a niche DLC aimed specifically towards people like me who like building settlements. These are more stuff, professionally made. which add more functionality, e.g. cages to capture creatures and create battle arenas, more neat electronics, lighting etc., to the settlements. Plus, people like me want variety. I've got this DLC on top of the other settlement mods from Nexus and Bethesda.net.

I honestly believe people are complaining because they wanted some other DLC which works more for them rather than for some of us. But really, it's a filler DLC which not everyone has to have, but if you like settlement building, it's a neat DLC worth checking out.

P.S. Consider while reading these reviews, the poor reviews usually are complaining about shelling out a bit of money for a DLC Bethesda ain't necessarily shoving down everyone's throats. They're complaining more about the method of delivery of the content, rather than the content itself, which they themselves mix up. If these were added free through patches, people would probably just start wanking to a picture of Todd or Bethesda. And while I agree to a point on these concerns, it is again optional and tailored to a specific demographic which I fall into, and I'm content with my purchase.
