For 200 years, Vault 101 has faithfully served the surviving residents of Washington DC and its environs, now known as the Capital Wasteland. Though the global atomic war of 2077 left the US all but destroyed, the residents of Vault 101 enjoy a life free from the constant stress of the outside world. Giant Insects, Raiders, Slavers, and yes, even Super Mutants are all no match for superior Vault-Tec engineering. Yet one fateful morning, you awake to find that your father has defied the Overseer and left the comfort and security afforded by Vault 101 for reasons unknown. Leaving the only home you've ever known, you emerge from the Vault into the harsh Wasteland sun to search for your father, and the truth. This Game of the Year Edition includes the acclaimed Fallout 3 game as well as its five DLC packs -- The Pitt, Operation: Anchorage, Broken Steel, Point Lookout and Mothership Zeta. Expand

It seemed liked a very good game, but was obviously dated, being it was release in 2008. But like I learned in my college world art class, we cannot compare Giotto's work to works of the High Renaissance; we must appreciate the value it had in the time of its creation. During the Steam Summer Flash sale, I saw Fo3:GTYE for a low price of $11.99, and decided to purchase it. Since it was the Game of the Year Edition, it had all of the DLCs, therefore was well worth the price. But perhaps the best part about owning the PC version is taking advantage of all of the marvelous modifications from nexusmods and other sources. Some of these modifications definitely help the game to become more relevant in terms of graphics, as well as enhance game play. These mods transcend Fallout 3 from a decent five year old game, to a spectacular and fresh gaming experience. I would strongly recommend anyone thinking of purchasing Fallout 3 today, to go with the PC version. Expand

Depth of story is been built upon for years and years from FO to NV. this still remains my favorite of the series.. the graphics, environment,NPC's all grab you and pull you in to where you forget yourslef and thats quality.
this game is 10/10, 100%, KA award and a legend that stands along with the best ever made.

Fallout 3: Game of the year edition is probably one of the best games I ever have played, and ever will play. I would recommend it to everyone, it's worth every coin. - Though there is a lot of problems with it and windows 7-64 bit, I will give it 10 out of 10, I'm playing it on 64-bit, it was hard to get to work, but now I can't stop playing. :)

And if game bugs really annoy you, A: Understand that it's the price you pay for a bethesda game and B: This is the game to play over new vegas. However since game bugs don't 'bug' me nearly as much as some people (a single game bug or quest hang can put them off entirely) - I still prefer new vegas. It's got more crazy random content.

That said, in many regards this game has stood the test of time perfectly. And thanks to modding on the pc, you can play an all new game when or if you ever get tired of skyrim. This is an 8.9/10 now. And was a 10/10 on release. Rounds out to a 9/10 on metacritic.

Exactly that has been slightlyMost of the content of basic Fallout 3 left me kinda disappointed and wanting something more, something better. Exactly that has been slightly fixed with the GOTY version and all 5 of it's DLC's - Operation Anchorage, The Pitt, Broken Steel, Mothership Zeta and especially Point Lookout, which was the highlight of this collection and the experience there was probably better than anything the main Fallout 3 game has to offer. The GOTY version of F3 with many bugs fixed and the extra DLC content got really solid and is definitely the way to go if you want to play this at all. Still nowhere near the excellent quality of the first 2 Fallout titles, or New Vegas which I recommend over this any day, but even Fallout 3 and it's expansions are worth playing, although it's undoubtedly and by far the weakest chapter in the Fallout series. Bethesda should stick to The Elder Scrolls and leave Fallout series to the original masters. 8/10 Expand

Sure, fallout 3 and NV pulled the series to 3d and open, and i admit it was kind of fun, but that fun was ruined by the major bugs, freezes, glitches and crashes i experienced on my copy. it happened on my PC,ps3 and 360 copies so its not my system. This is a very crap game that does not deserve a sequel. If 4 gets made, it must not be developed by obsidian and not use that crap gamebryo engine. I cant even tell you how bad the DLC makes it. Its unplayable after 3 hours gameplay. its like it purposly freezes to tick you off! Expand
