I first played Fallout 3 recently for Xbox 360, since my brother picked it up on sale. It seemed liked a very good game, but was obviously dated, being it was release in 2008. But like I learned in my college world art class, we cannot compare Giotto's work to works of the High Renaissance; we must appreciate the value it had in the time of its creation. But like I learned in my college world art class, we cannot compare Giotto's work to works of the High Renaissance; we must appreciate the value it had in the time of its creation. During the Steam Summer Flash sale, I saw Fo3:GTYE for a low price of $11.99, and decided to purchase it. Since it was the Game of the Year Edition, it had all of the DLCs, therefore was well worth the price. But perhaps the best part about owning the PC version is taking advantage of all of the marvelous modifications from nexusmods and other sources. Some of these modifications definitely help the game to become more relevant in terms of graphics, as well as enhance game play. These mods transcend Fallout 3 from a decent five year old game, to a spectacular and fresh gaming experience. I would strongly recommend anyone thinking of purchasing Fallout 3 today, to go with the PC version. Expand

This game was the bomb of the RPG genre. Going around, shooting people with your Gatling laser, totally worth the 30 bucks. I would recommend this game to anyone because it actually makes sense, unlike Borderlands when you just find a key for a gay Vault, this has a True story. And this is working fine on a Single Core AMD Athlon 3500+

That said, in many regards this game has stood the test of time perfectly. And thanks to modding on the pc, you can play an all new game when or if you ever get tired of skyrim. This is an 8.9/10 now. And was a 10/10 on release. Rounds out to a 9/10 on metacritic.

Simply put, this is one of the best games I’ve played (right up there with HL2 even!). The Capital Wastelands is a huge open world providing many hours of completely absorbing fun. The story is staple SF stuff but the multiple quests required to complete it, along with the equally numerous side quests, make it satisfying enough. What’s so impressive is the sheer scale and immersive quality of the world created by Bethesda. You can wander for hours around the Wastelands. I completed every single quest in the main game plus the 5 DLCs that come with the GOTY edition, then went in search of every bobblehead and every behemoth I hadn’t already encountered, and now I’m finishing off the unlisted quests so far I’ve spent almost 170 hours in this game and have enjoyed every minute of it. The graphics are very good, if not quite on a par with very recent games. The voice acting is good throughout (one would expect no less from the likes of Liam Neeson), and the dialogue trees are often large and humorous. Also worth mentioning is the inspired retro design and use of music from the 1930s and 40s. The only downside is that it’s a little unstable under Windows 7 (but you can’t blame Bethesda for that, as it was created before the release of the operating system). If only all computer games were as good as this. Excellent.

for what was a very creative and fun game series, fallout NV and 3 set an all time low. Its unplayable after 3 hours gameplay. its like it purposly freezes to tick you off! Expand

Game have too many slave-quests, like make this, and for this u must run 100 miles and shoot to all generated monsters and crime-men.

Fallout 1 and 2 was made for more freedom of players. And if u clear some place this place still clean.

For playing with enjoy player must fully understand textual and audio information in game. But Fallout 3 on Steam-system was without Russian language.

Most of the content of basic Fallout 3 left me kinda disappointed and wanting something more, something better. The GOTY version of F3 with many bugs fixed and the extra DLC content got really solid and is definitely the way to go if you want to play this at all. Still nowhere near the excellent quality of the first 2 Fallout titles, or New Vegas which I recommend over this any day, but even Fallout 3 and it's expansions are worth playing, although it's undoubtedly and by far the weakest chapter in the Fallout series. Bethesda should stick to The Elder Scrolls and leave Fallout series to the original masters. 8/10 Expand

I played a bit on PS3, but I'm afraid to invest time on PC because apparently I should download mods and an unofficial patch that fixes hundreds of bugs that Bethesda never took the time to fix themselves...

Why should I do all of this? Should I?

I like games that you can simply install and play. :(

I originally played Fallout 4 and when I got my PS3 and began my search for a Fallout game, I stumbled upon Fallout 3 and immediately fell in love. I found that I liked playing 3 MUCH more than I did 4. Total win for me. Can't wait to try more of the Fallout franchise!

The DLCs slightly improve the overall experience. But it's a very mediocre game overall. If you like Fallout, then play the first two parts and New Vegas. If you like Bethesda games then play Skyrim or Fallout 4 (not really sure about the last one).
