You might be left feeling like F1 25 is playing things a bit too safe and not taking any risks. BUT who can blame Codemasters for coasting behind a safety car when they have no direct competition.

F1 25 takes everything the series has been doing over the last few years and tweaks it to improve the experience. A must for fans and newcomers alike.

F1 25 remains a game designed to please a specific niche: motorsport enthusiasts and, above all, Formula 1 fans. The return of the Braking Point mode adds some appeal for those looking for something a bit more “outside the box,” and ultimately, it also serves as a solid entry point for newcomers. However, the other modes are virtually unchanged, with only minor updates—something long-time annual players are already very familiar with.

F1 25 marks an improvement over the previous installment, featuring new content and a more in-depth My Team mode. The LIDAR scanning has made some tracks much more realistic, though the disparity with those that haven't been updated is noticeable. As for Braking Point, once again, the developers have opted for a highly dramatized approach to Formula 1, resulting in a simplistic and somewhat unrealistic narrative. The driving model remains largely unchanged, offering a good balance between arcade and simulation.

F1 25 is a good game, make no mistake about that. With a near flawless presentation, improved my team mode, and additional features, there's a lot to do. There are a few pitfalls here and there, but nothing that takes away from what is another genuinely good release by Codemasters.

I was a bit disappointed that abandoning the previous generation of consoles didn't bring the kind of generational leap in quality that many people were probably hoping for. Nevertheless, F1 25 is an improved version of F1 24 in every respect, with the improved driving model and path tracing on PC standing out in particular. We'll probably have to wait for the real revolution until F1 26, which will have to reflect the huge changes related to the new regulations in Formula 1. In the meantime, I recommend giving F1 25 a chance.

You're hardly reinventing the wheel here, and were it not for Braking Point and the new LiDAR-scanned tracks, it would in all honesty be hard to recommend F1 25 to anything but the most dedicated. And at the risk of sounding like a broken record, my final conclusion is much the same as last year. Does there need to be a new F1 every year? No, absolutely not.
