    This game should be named F1 2077. The amount of bugs, frequent crashes and egodumpers is unbelievable.
    - Force feedback works 20% of the time, need to run game with admin privileges to have it on
    - Game freezes for 1s when you start 1 lap qualifying pulling the steering wheel sharply to one side - Track limits are ridiculous - either you can abuse them without penalty or get one by    This game should be named F1 2077. The amount of bugs, frequent crashes and egodumpers is unbelievable.

    - Track limits are ridiculous - either you can abuse them without penalty or get one by driving as you should using curbs
    - Speaking of curbs - are they made of ice?
    - Multiplayer de-synchro is still here (you may not see your opponent on the track when in lobby, but on your opponent's screen you're forcing him off the track)
    - Safety Car - you can overtake during SC conditions without penalty, but try passing by car that's off the track and the game will ask you to give that position back.
    - Count of tracks during release day is super low - they have even removed short versions of the circuits giving nothing back, Spain is in old configuration, zero new tracks added.

    On the positive side - driving feels better (when FFB works), now dabbing accelerate on 4th or 5th gear won't send you spinning like crazy, but curbs will.

    It looks like they have focused a lot on breaking point and single player career for reviewers who will play the game 5h and come back next year playing the same game with different UI and giving high scores again.

    There is no fixes compared to 2020 for multiplayer. True gamers that race in online leagues will have another year of struggles and workarounds.    … Expand

    As a beta tester of this game, this is basically a commercial version of beta.

    -This product has a feeling of a beta game - A LOT of bugs and glitches, which are present from 2019
    -Multiplayer is completely trash. Connection problems, dirty drivers, harder setup of the lobby (like it's more difficult to create a lobby because of the changes in the UI)
    -Sounds are glitchy and laggy, also the optimisation of the game isn't great, you get huge FPS drops driving on grass or gravel
    -Breaking point is a pure disappointment, I felt no excitement at all, this mode is just dull and boring, like you get through very easy objectives (which you can't make any harder than AI on lvl 70; in game max AI level is 110), which lead to stupid cutscenes, where you basically only watch them, it's more like a movie with boring objectives to do in the middle of a chapter
    -Some car models are outdated, for example Aston Martin's halo
    -Price, I've paid like 70 euro for the deluxe version and I regret it.

    As a veteran playing this game from 2010, this doesn't deserve any higher rating. And EA is coming, so it's not a bright future for the F1 game series.    … Expand

    Somehow, EA have managed to purchase a studio, and then remove content from their main game series.     The new story mode has a formulaic story, and is actually cringe-worthy at times with poor voice acting, and content you have access to in the story mode - like last season's cars - are locked away in other modes. Leagueracing is not possible because of dysncs or other bugs which are destroing every experience, every Patch will bring new problems with it.     First minus is the price. Its definetly too much for this game.
    Second is card progres system, dont do this **** with f1
    The ai is complitely shunted why they are so stupped, bugs its about this game there are so much of this in that game, and all of ea managment work is frustrating its cant be here, comeback power to the codemasters!!!

    I bought this game on Steam during the winter sale. So months after its release. in less than 3 hours of gameplay I had 3 crashes that reset all my track progress. Never buying anything made by Codemasters or EA again.

    In Turkish steam, F1 games came out 92 TRY and then with discounts it down to 50 TRY. But when EA bought the company, this game came out with 419 TRY price and with discounts it down to 293 TRY. I am sorry, but i dont believe this game deserves %356 price increase.

    Actually, F1 2021 is another successful F1 game in my opinion. The two-player career is actually fun, as is the normal career and the "MyTeam" mode introduced in the last game. So why the negative rating?

    1. New tracks: The already announced new tracks (Portimao, Imola, Jeddah) are still not out. Likewise, no info has been published yet on a planned release date or the status of development. Really weak!

    2. Beta: Many may not know, but there was also a closed/open beta for F1 2021. This was scheduled about one to two months before the game release. Problem: Many reported bugs were / could not be fixed in this short time! So here: Bad management!

    3. #LeagueRacingComesFirst: As many may have already noticed, all F1 e-sport players have received a "new version" of the game, in which there is a handling update for the cars. Where is the problem with this, some may ask:
    A big problem has arisen due to this decision for many top leagues like the PSGL. The top drivers of this league were mainly e-sportsmen. Now that this update "forces" the e-sports players to play the new game, the PSGL and other top leagues have a problem. Likewise, many racers and buyers now feel "treated as second class players". The performance patch, which was/is already announced for all players/platforms, is now only available to a select few. So why not make this available to everyone?

    These three points only scratch the surface of the F1 game's problems. Bugged online lobbies, sound bugs (which have been around for a while), a simply outdated engine and things like the "landmine" in Spain T1 are just reason enough for me to leave a bad rating here.

    Please don't misunderstand this rating. For the casual gamer F1 2021 is a good game. But anyone who wants to spend a bit more time than that in the game should not buy F1 2021 at the moment!

    UPDATE:

    After the Portimao update, this review has only been confirmed once again. In itself the content of the update is pretty good, Portimao is in my opinion a nice track to drive and very close to a laser scanned track if not laser scanned. The Aston SC also looks very good and is a good addon for the game. Now to some more criticism:

    1. I don't know how you can make an already ruined online mode even worse, but apparently you can. Many lobbies are bugged, there are many desyncs, players lag and much more. Many leagues have to cancel races at the moment and apparently Codemasters doesn't know where the problem is or isn't able to fix it.
    2. In line with my previous point, I have to mention the developers' communication with the community. On the Codemasters forum there is now a short post describing that these problems are now "known" and that this problem now has top priority, but that more detailed bug reports are needed.
    It's all well and good that this is stated on the Codemasters forum, but I would still like to see better communication via other communication channels like Twitter or Instagram.

    Conclusion #2:
    My "first" rating for this game still stands. The same problems still exist (not all tracks, #LeagueRacingComesFirst, and many more) and the communication with the community is absolutely poor. You can't sell something like this as a full price title!

There was never a game that I felt so much disappointment with, after paying 60 euros for this game I feel like I was scammed for someone that plays quite a lot of games and also attends Formula 1 races, this is bad, so bad, the face models look like caricatures the amount of effort in dialog and animations is so minimal the AI of the game is pathetic and the number of bugs that can destroy ones experience with the gameplay, for example at the Hungaroring race I encountered a bug that didn't let me enter the pit lane which made it impossible to fuel and change tires, after qualifying on the 20th place got to the 1st halfway through the race (lap 30 ) it started raining so everyone changed tires except me so naturally, I dropped back to the 10th which is super frustrating, it's not the first time this bugged occurred on a race and it is simply too frustrating to play it anymore, I don't recommend to anyone that enjoys racing games or in general playing a game to buy this game.… Expand

    Same as F1 2021 only removed classic cars removed some circuits and the layout is completely off. Stick with F1 2020 or 2019 for older cars.

    Warto grać, fakt faktem nie jest to to na tak samym poziomie jak moje ulubione f1 2012 albo f1 2013 ale i tak gra się w to przyjemnie. Jest tylko jedna wada jak jest taki bardziej ostry zakręt to bolid często lubi wpaść w niekontrolowany poślizg. Po za tą jedną dla mnie widoczną wada gra się bardzo przyjemnie moja ocena to 9/10

And here comes the MOST IMPORTANT issue at hand. The behaviour of CM towards their community, the biggest fans of the sport, is just disgusting, disgraceful, and an absolute joke. Serious issues like XBOX series X SHUTTING DOWN thanks to their crap design is still present almost a year after release. Patches come almost not, and if they come they "fix" things which aren't important! This shows the incompetence of CM of not beeing able to fix REAL issues, and try to fool us by patching other things, which in turn BREAK other aspects like Force Feedback, or Ai suddenly not moving when on slow lap, weird behaviour over curbstones. The person who "designed" the online lobbies isn't much better. There are 2! ONLY 2! important assists which are important to diffentiate a lobby, and that is Traction Control and ABS, the rest people without assists don't care about. But somehow in lobbies it shows: ASSIST RESTRICTION: HIGH, and when you enter the lobby it says full TC and ABS and the rest off like PIT ASSIST and DRS ASSISTS! I mean, those shouldn't even count towards making the difference. Assist restrictions should only change when the 2 MAIN assists change. And when it says HIGH, it should mean that ABS and TC are OFF. but the locig within CM has amazed me year after year. It's getting worse with the year, and this year they advertised the NEXT GEN version, well, on PS5 it doesn't feel next gen in what way soever. Loading takes ages, still screen tearing like all years, and I can keep going. They still use their EGO engine, i guess they call it that because of their own EGO, becuase they DON'T LISTEN to their community, they IGNORE the community, transparancy is nowhere to be found, even problems from the BETA are still present while even adddressed by the community, but that's too hard too code out I think. There are a lot of people at CM who don't take responsability for their failures, tell the prettiest lies about versions beeing 2 years in development while it's just a polished up 2 year previous version with even the same bugs as that 2 year old version. CM fails year after year, releases broken games, it's a disgrace to the have the official F1 license, because it doesn;t represent the greatest sport on earth in any way. EVEN THE TRACKS ARE OLD, TERRIBLE DESIGNED, OLD LAYOUTS, AND THEY REFUSE TO LASER SCAN! How on earth can this have an OFFICIAL license when EVERYTHING IS OUT OF DATE!? Their EGO engine is so old, it can't possibly handle the NEXT GEN consolse, and that shows by the crap design of their NEXT GEN version. CM must be stopped by being able to release these failures year after year and scamming people in paying full price for a broken piece of **** which they are unable to fix. F1 has to cancel the license immediately, and get a studio which is capable of designing something that IS ACTUALLY DECENT, stable, has good online lobby design, stable connections, and so on and so on.

    This is and has been a disgrace to the F1 sport and title for many years now AND IT HAS TO STOP! And for anyone who doesn't believe these FACTS, just go to their forums https://forums.codemasters.com/forum/140-report-an-issue/

    They let you fill out meters long forms, spend tons of time in reporting an issue which won't even be adressed or fixed because they don;t know HOW. Completely oblivious people over there.

    And I hope with all my heart and love for this sport, that F1 finally sees what a joke CM is and how they damage the sport with these things and their behaviour towards the community, THE FANS OF F1, and immediately take away the license.

    Codemasters has had more than enough tries and possibilities to make something good, but it has gone for bad to worse. And I fear for the 2022 edition with the new rules and their outdated EGO and EGO engine.

    The positives are that the graphics are great, the sound quality is great, the driving mechanics of the game make the cars a bit more unstable than in previous games which I enjoy because it makes the game a bit more tense even if you are using assists.

    The negatives are that the game has removed classic cars which were an interesting addition in the previous games (F2 cars are not enough), the game suffers from some glitches that can be annoying, the game cut out a few interesting tracks from the previous game while the developers were too useless to add new tracks immediately on release, a lot of new content had to be added as downloadable updates which sometimes messed with the games technical performance and my game started crashing every time I start it after I tried making changes to the graphics settings.
    So because of the unstable settings within the game's options my game is crashing and I can't play it any more after spending so much money on it. this made me drop the game's score to 2/10 for such a **** feature and incompetence from the dev team.
    F1 2020 is the better game, F1 2021 is a severe disappointment.    … Expand

    Codemaster and EA Game, what a terrible combo. Game just wanna be multiplayer, playing online loby with my friends, same race, same loby. I see him at the 3. place but he is at 7. place during the race ? How tf is this even possible ? He should be at the same possition on my Pc aswell on his, am I right ? So this game just prettending to be multiplayer as it seems. I do not recommed buyingCodemaster and EA Game, what a terrible combo. Especially considering there are also no historic cars and no short tracks like F1 2020. That's mighty weak for a supposed AAA game with a matching price tag.

    Guess all the development time and money was spent on this single player story mode, let's look at that...

    Braking point is a single player section of the game putting you in a mid field F2 battle. Interesting concept but the reality of it is a series of scripted races, where regardless of your performance, at best you can only come in 4th. Lots of forced/scripted drama. Perhaps this appeals to some, not myself.

    However the most egregious mistake made with Braking Point is injecting cancel culture. Player can be faced with a crew member making "a bad joke" that is "misinterpreted" on social media. In response the player can only fire the employee or apologize.
    There is no place for simulating garbage like cancel culture in a game. Worse yet the only options are bow to the mob or bow to the mob.
    This was my breaking point, I've already gotten a refund, thanks steam!

    On top of all this there is
    -Multiple EULAs that are very aggressive about data with no opt out option.
    -Input lag, stutters and generally bad frames compared to same settings on F1 2020

    First game with that new publisher behind the wheel, guess I shouldn't be surprised.
    I bet they try to Add/fix all the stuff left out of/broke in F1 2021 to hype/sell F1 2022 like they do with every other sports titles they milk annually.
    I would Skip this one and any future title that new publisher is involved with.

I can't understand why are they charging so much for the game which is basically a reskin of F1 2020, which is a reskin of F1 2019, and so on... There is one good thing in this game - Driving feels much better, but that's the only advantage of the game that should be in development for another half a year.… Expand

    - Every time you are in the garage and pass across the camera section you have this annoying and very noisy clip with the F1 logo which pisses you off.
    - They reduced the fast forward speed and it takes ages to skip to the end of a session and if you use the shortcut it will not bring you back to the computer room.
    - Drivers ratings are all over the place. Coulthard has a higher rating than Rosberg who is a World Champion and won against Hamilton!?
    - The new tracks are missing..
    - The old tracks haven't been updated..
    - They copy-pasted everything else..literally copy-pasted..it's unbelievable..

    What exactly did they do in one year beside ruining the UI? Unless you want an updated roster, buy the old game, this one suck and it will only gets worse because of EA..

    Finally EA increased the prices of the game in poor countries by a huge amount, so many gamers can no longer afford the game, but EA doesn't care cause is gonna milk people from rich countries anyway.    … Expand

    No Imola, no Portimao. No sprint qualifying. The exact same sounds as 2020, which were very bad. ( Assetto corsa mods sound way better ). No updates on old tracks. No classic cars. Are we sure this is 2021 and not a bad version of 2020? Really disappointed in this one, but not really a surprise since EA took over. They ruin most games anyway.

    - Multiplayer is unplayable: connection error, bugged menus (no advance button, but at least it times out after a while) but the worst is the infinitely loading player, on this one there is no timeout, and if it occurs good luck getting    Utter garbage.     - Oh and the removal of old cars, even the little fun these games had is gone now. Everything can be copy-pasted except the good things, I get it
    - 'Story mode' aka Breaking point is too short, the cutscenes are a cringefest, and just generally could be done way better. The idea is not bad tho
    - Did I mention bugs?
    - White menus, thanks I wanted to be blinded at night anyways
    - No new tracks either! I know they will be added but come on, what the hell were they developing for a year? Not the story mode that's for sure, a child could have written that script...

    Das Game ist eine absolute Katastrophe, man weiß gar nicht wo man da anfangen will. Das Game ist ein Bugsimulator mehr nicht. Das Game ist von vorne bis hinten verbuggt, dass so ein Game überhaupt auf den Markt sein darf. Ich empfehle es niemanden. Bugmasters sollte jeden das Geld wieder geben.

    It's basically a copy of f1 2020. Stupid unreal track limits, if u even think about a curb while you drive it will delete your time. Two wheels on the curb and two wheels on the track and it's somehow seen as track limits exceeded. How hard can it be to make the track limits as they are in real F1?
    Stupid simple fixable bugs: Radio guy says "You need to pit within two laps" then after half    It's basically a copy of f1 2020. Also quite often stupid comments you can get as you've confirmed pit entry or as there is like 1 min left of the practice or qualifying. Sometimes change of strategy without any explanation.
    Then I have this issue that the F1 game is rundning in the background after I've closed it which makes it improssible to start the game again without going to task manager and close it. During this time the time played on steam is ticking which is annoying.
    The AI can be a bit stupid sometimes, and it seems like however they make contact with me it's somehow aaaalways me getting a penalty or warning. Also how realistic is it that they all drive like 0.2 seconds after each other lap after lap? Looks like a damn train.. Have the creators ever watched real F1?
    Overall it's still quite fun to play but you have to expect a lot of cursing as you play it. :)    … Expand

    U can't race. U start the race and then there is a safetycar in the first round.
    If you re a lap down and there's a safety car you won't get your lap back like in real no u drive and get blue flag. So many little bugs. It's just frustrating this game not worth it to buy

Unfortunately, the team of brave developers is not in a hurry to wipe after themselves. We released a beta version, with a huge number of bugs, for such a price, adding all this with another reskin of cars, a dumb story "broken point" and a completely broken online… Expand

    Game still crashing !!! Idont understand previous F1 2020 working fine but this game is night mare. When you play race for 40 minutes and tahn it crash.

    At first glance, this year’s installment of the Codemasters’ Formula 1 franchise might seem very similar to the game we played 12 months ago. However, the improved driving model and the revamped, more engaging story mode make F1 2021 a significant step forward and the best game in the series. [10/2021, p.52]
