The sense of being constantly on the edge is what makes every lap of every race exhilarating and great to play.

Congratulations to Codemasters for succeeding to deliver its best F1 simulator so far and one of the most integrated F1 experiences we have ever witnessed. It certainly raises the bar for the games of the genre to come.

Codemasters overcame themselves and created a stunningly attractive F1 simulator. New game's career is the hallmark of sincerity, training laps became a huge challenge and the driver creates life partners with his vehicle. F1 is more fun than ever was before.

F1 2016 really is a huge step in the right direction after horrible 2015 release. Beautiful visuals (except the rubber-faced monstrosities posing as drivers and crew), well-done handling and the emphasis on little nuances of race weekend makes this easily the best game in the franchise. A little more personality traits to different AI drivers and maybe some emphasis on track-side visuals would make it even better. [Sept 2016]

F1 2016 is definitively the best Formula One game Codemasters has ever crafted.

AI wobbles remain, but this is an excellent racing game, and an authentic Formula One experience.

This is a big step for Codemasters – well maybe not that big after last years’ weird “in-between” racing experience. But that aside the strong comeback of the career, the presentation and the good driving physics make this the best Formula 1 game in quite some time.

Improved almost everywhere, with a lot of atmosphere, but penalty system, damage system and scope still have room for further improvement.

This is almost certainly the best F1 game from the development team thus far, and a real step up from last year. Codemasters has finally hit its stride in the racing genre, with some quality racing sim titles such as this and Dirt Rally.

Anyone who hasn’t bought an F1 game in a few years should absolutely pick up F1 2016, as should long-time fans of the series. It’s the best Codemasters F1 game yet and, despite a few rough edges, it’s fantastic fun.

Last year’s F1 felt like a stepping stone: new version of engine and updated physics came at a huge cost – many important features, including career mode, weren’t up to par. This time Codemasters presents Formula One properly. [Issue#212, p.49]

Finally Codemasters got it right after 6 editions of fans repeatedly asking for certain features and mechanics in the series. This game offers an enjoyable challenge to racing game enthusiasts and hardcore sim fans alike. It does an admirable job of reproducing the atmosphere of the real Formula 1, and is actually fun and rewarding to play seriously. I found that with the career mode AI difficulty set to Expert and my control scheme set to Elite, the game was a good challenge without being infuriating and without dominating each race This game is well worth a look for those F1 fans who've been burnt by previous versions. F1 2016 is an polished, fun, and versatile game.

Combining driver aids with opponent difficulty gives a wide range of options that should open this game up to all gamers. From an arcade game with no damage and unlimited rewinds to full length races more akin to a simulator, you can set things up to suit you.

The complexities of F1 are all present, but done in a way that is fairly intuitive and easy to understand. Strategy becomes much more important than in previous versions, and as a result it adds layers of enjoyment to racing. The monotony of grinding out laps is broken by the decision making you need to have the right strategy to maximize your finish.

Presentation is one of the major successes in this game for me. The feeling of F1 is all around you, and it enhances the experience immensely. Graphics look very good on my system, although I have had some FPS problems which I hope will be solved with better optimization down the road.

VR support is the only thing missing from this title in my opinion.

Overall, great game. A lot of fun to play and great to look at. The depth of career mode is going to keep me hooked for a while. I was skeptical about this release after years of being disappointed, but this version is the best one yet.

The game is quite polished, graphically impressive and feature rich on PC. I've seen the state of the game on console with the compromises in AI, graphics and QA and the PC version is definitely the best version. Full Review »
