F1 2013

Though it doesn’t navigate through every hairpin turn with perfection, F1 2013 still manages to cross the finish line with an impressive lead on its competition.

F1 2013 is a better and more varied game than its predecessor - Codemasters fixed issues and filled in some missing gameplay options. The new F1 Classics mode is great, but has far too little content. There's no revolution in the virtual Formula 1 world, just a simple return to the right path. The new F1 is a well made and really pretty racing game that generates lots of fun - and that's the most important thing.

F1 2013 is a dynamic and varied simulation then, and that’s not a compliment that could readily be aimed at too many of its forebears.

F1 2013 is a great take on the World Championship but it has the same problems of the last edition. Above all there are the classic cars from the 80's, which are more fun to drive than the actual cars.

It's a very good Fomula One game, but it's about time to improve the presentations. And what stopped the developers to implement something like Formula BMW or GP2?

The F1 Classics mode refreshes the game and I would gladly welcome it as a separate full-scale title. Otherwise F1 2013 doesn’t get crazy with innovation, but maintains high level of the series. [12/2013, p.68]

F1 2013 is a very well made simulation of one of the fastest racing competitions in the world. While the game is demanding at points there are enough assists and tools to help a newcomer get better. This is a game that will make you gasp at the sense of speed and grip your controller through tight corners like not many others can.

Tough but gratifying, F1 2013 is not a startling improvement from the already robust F1 2012, but it’s certainly Codemasters’ best and most confident crack at F1 to date.

Only the next generation of consoles will give Codemasters the chance to overcome the technical issues of the last four F1 games. Anyway, this 2013 version is a good improvement over the 2012 entry that can provide F1 fans with endless hours of racing fun.

F1 2013 is a pretty ambiguous package. On one hand it's the best lightweight F1 simulation ever, but on the other hand it feels like an another season update with overpriced DLC's and burden of current gen consoles. I think it really would benefit from updates like warmup laps and all the drama surrounding F1 circus. [Nov 2013]

If you’ve been away from the F1 series for a year or longer, or just want the definitive F1 game from this hardware generation, F1 2013 is an easy pick. It is the best this series has ever been in all the ways that count, and historical cars and tracks are a wonderful bonus.

So again, there's a solid engine at work under the hood of this one, but it still gives you lots of opportunity to get really angry at it at the same time.

As it stands, F1 2013 is a great, but familiar racer that samples a fraction of the sport’s history. But as a game, you’ll only need it if you’re a diehard fan.

Certainly the best installment of Codemasters’ F1 franchise so far, but it also feels like the series isn’t really going anywhere. It’s at a point now where only the most die-hard fans will notice most of the changes.

F1 2013 can make even the most naive neophyte feel like a legend. But if you’re already a legend of previous games, there may not be as much here to impress you.
