Expeditions: A MudRunner Game is a unique, beautiful and realistic simulation of driving through a wilderness untouched by civilization. It poses an even greater challenge than the studio’s previous games and while it will make you sweat, possibly bring you to tears, the reward will be an incredible sense of satisfaction.

Expeditions impresses with great graphics and fresh ideas, but suffers from a lack of consistency in some areas.

Expeditions feels like an exciting new direction for this series that encourages more experimentation on the gameplay side and I am thrilled that this didn’t just feel like Mudrunner or Snowrunner again. I am excited to see where Saber takes the game with its seasonal content, especially after the exciting editions we saw with the Snowrunner seasons.

Expeditions: A MudRunner Game certainly isn’t a replacement for the supremely addictive SnowRunner, but its more untamed wilderness maps and huge truckload of exploration-focused missions do see it function as a very worthwhile complementary experience – despite some aggravating mission gating and a bit of an unfriendly map screen. Its unique brand of slow-paced bushwhacking won’t ever be for everybody, but successfully taking a truck on a trek through terrain that the toughest trailblazers would fear to tread is still an oddly satisfying challenge that proves the journey is always more important than the destination.

Like its predecessors, Expeditions strikes a brain-bendingly perfect balance between relaxation and tension.

It was a daring gamble for Saber Interactive to revisit the Mudrunner soul by opening up and reflecting on its formula sufficiently to appeal to license veterans and neophytes alike, and Expedition: A Mudrunner Games succeeds with flying colors.

Though it may be meant more for the serious truck enthusiast, Expeditions: A MudRunner Game provides a unique and captivating off-road journey for players seeking an adrenaline-fueled adventure.

Saber Interactive uses SnowRunner’s very strong foundation to deliver a new alternative experience with Expeditions: A MudRunner Game based on exploring hostile and wild areas. Without being totally new, since it borrows a lot from its predecessor, the game nevertheless manages to grab us with its sublime scenery, but also and especially its fascinating gameplay and physics. The new mechanics introduced as the management of gadgets and equipment only reinforce the strategic aspect of a demanding title but within the reach of all motivated adventurers, novices as old adventurers of the MudRunner saga. Too bad not to be able to enjoy it with friends for the release, but we already know: Expeditions is there for a long time, alongside his cousin SnowRunner.

Like its predecessors, Expeditions: A MudRunner Game is for a specific type of player who wants a driving game instead of a racing game. The player must enjoy messing around with the intricacies of off-road vehicles and doesn't mind experiencing every driving mishap possible. Expeditions isn't a game for everyone, but for those looking for something different from the norm, it's well worth a shot.

The sequel to the science expedition games Snowrunner and Mudrunner presents a fresh perspective on off-road simulation. Set in untamed wildernesses devoid of traditional roads, players are challenged to adopt a more tactical approach, with new features that offer mixed results. However, it's disappointing to note that upon release, only two environments are available.

If there’s one thing Expeditions and its terrifying muddy siblings will teach you, it’s that eventually overcoming the perils of picturesque, but unyielding nature through sheer relentlessness will never stop feeling rewarding.

Despite its focus on exploration and strategy, Expeditions: A Mudrunner Game offers a captivating and accessible experience akin to its predecessors, yet its simpler mission design and lack of cooperative play may disappoint fans. However, its beautiful landscapes, solid performance, and extensive content make it a worthwhile adventure.

Expeditions: A MudRunner Game is the sort of daunting, technical adventure that can be humbling at times, but for those who can pick up on its rhythm and learn its brand of skillful driving, this might just become the best podcast game of all time.

If you think that Expeditions is just Snowrunner without emphasis on trucks – you are correct, more or less. It also has pretty much the same problems, including collision physics. But considering the perpetual drought in the genre, we’re going to play it nevertheless. [Issue#263, p.58]

Expeditions: A MudRunner Game is another great off-road game that is based on previous MudRunner entries. But it's worth noting that the amount of content in this release is rather lacking.

Expeditions: A Mudrunner Game has a lot of tidying up to do to become what it should be, but there's a wonderfully-rewarding game in there once you've learned its quirks.

Expeditions: A MudRunner Game is an interesting iteration on Saber Interactive's earlier off-road simulation titles that brings some new features while keeping the core challenge familiar to fans of the series. There is a lot of content available, though much of it inevitably boils down the main concept of having to deal with hard environments. Most of this works reasonably well, but some of the new additions feel a bit light and not as fully fleshed out as I'd like them to be. Overall, it is an enjoyable experience, but only the hardcore fans of the series are likely to make it through the hundreds of hours spent climbing over rocks and sinking into pits of mud.
  20. After SnowRunner, it just feels like a step back for the series. However, the game is solid, and grows exponentially the more time and dedication you invest in it.

Expeditions: A MudRunner Game is based on SnowRunner. Your biggest enemy in this game is not dirt, but terrain. Unfortunately, the game has two big problems: the lack of content and strange mission design.

Four years have passed since the debut of SnowRunner and I definitey wanted more from Expeditions. What we got is a quick variation of the previous game that enables you to make everything faster with a mini-game. I'm not feeling this "expedition" - this is a dispencer of missions.

  1. These ruts in the road prevent Saber Interactive from delivering a soil-cold classic, but Expeditions: Mudrunner nonetheless succeeds in its primary objective, to build a world where the car and the ground are at irrepressible odds, and it's your job to make them work together to crack the case. That case might prove to be mundane fly tipping rather than anything juicier, but watching our dynamic duo constantly wrestle with one another for supremacy never ceases to be entertaining.
