    I'd like to warn my fellow Australian gamers NOT TO BUY this game as it does not have local servers. Playing as demon is impossible in Australia since the demon is the host and the host needs to have the best latency. Believe me, I left the game searching for a game as demon for an HOUR but I could not find a game. You basically don't get to play half the game you payed 60A$ for. And don'tI'd like to warn my fellow Australian gamers NOT TO BUY this game as it does not have local servers. Playing as demon is impossible in Australia since the demon is the host and the host needs to have the best latency. Believe me, I left the game searching for a game as demon for an HOUR but I could not find a game. You basically don't get to play half the game you payed 60A$ for. And don't forget the HIGH INPUT LAG as the result of connecting to US servers. (Cross-play does not make a difference)… Expand

    While the skill-tree progression is interesting there's nothing beyond a few hours content in this. It's just another bog-standard 4v1 with nothing to offer other than level-grinding.

    Charging £32 for this in the UK is as close to legal theft as you're ever to see. Matchmaking is non-existant, it just pulls randoms together regardless of player level.     As a die hard fan of the franchise I really wanted to like this game but it's so bad. It's a piece of crap covered in flowers.

    Cons: Literally everything else. - Gameplay is horrible.     - RNG is god awful. It shouldn't be possible for the three pieces of the map to be located right next to each other. It also shouldn't be possible for the dagger and the pages to spawn right next to each other as well. This happens literally every time even in the biggest map of the game like huh?
    - There are only 2 maps in the game and on the bigger map is way too hard to play as the demon. There are not enough orbs and they're placed way too far apart, and mixed with RNG stated above it makes things so much worse.
    - Gameplay is far too repetitive.
    - Epic Games exclusive... like why?
    Overall as much as I would like to say this game has potential, it doesn't. The gameplay is just far too repetitive and boring that even if they fixed it (if it ever gets to that point) everyone will stop playing it in like a week at most.    … Expand

    Constant losses due to weak teammates do not bring any pleasure, and all because the developers do not want to add matchmaking, they generally do not care about their own player base.

    The game was cool only in the first month, it hooked me with a complex and multifunctional gameplay. But then the developers began to balance the game for weak players, because of which the main features were removed from it: Early game, animation cancellation, combos and much more... The game ceased to be interesting and not worth the money.

Most players want to pay as the survivor characters and the whinging that the demon was too hard made Saber nerf the demon to the point of it being paper thin. So now, no one wants to play the demon. In a 4v1 game if the "1" isn't being played by anyone then you sit around in the lobby for up to an hour for a game. When a demon player does come along, they quit because they see the hugely overpowered and now upgraded survivor players and just leave. They then have to sit for a 5 min cool down period and usually will drift off and play something else while that team of 4 sit and hope the next demon won't quit. This was made all the worse when they gave the game away for free to PC players. This is a cross platform game which is now full of PC gamers who just leave, quit or cheat. Again, it doesn't make for a fun experience. Saber were told several times on the FB group that what they were doing was wrong but they made the changes and now there is no way back. It was the nail in the coffin when they made the last buffs all for the survivors as it meant most Demon players had had enough. All because the 4 in the 4v1 cried too loud that they were getting beaten and not playing as a team. When it worked it was a fun game but it needed a more robust dev team who wouldn't give in to the crying toxic players who weren't winning every match. A real shame but I hope that one day a decent dev will make something of the franchise.… Expand

    The game is pretty, the music is very nice and it was fun until a META was established and the demon feels useless against any team playing properly.
    I've stopped playing until they do some serious balancing.
    And I'm not even talking about the multiple bugs.
    Good potential though.

    As of today, I have yet to get past the tutorial because of crashes. the game just CTD's with no warning or error notification at all. I can only get like 10 minutes of playtime before it crashes, mainly near the same spot every time. I tried every fix possible, my computer is more than capable of running the game. I run a i9-10900 with a RTX 3080 gpu.     Yes i'm gong to be childish but we can't keep on justifying Epic exclusivity. Yes Steam takes to big of a cut cause 30% it's insane but that doesn't mean we shouldn't be allowed to buy a game where we want. We have 10 different launchers and all it does it taking space like we all own or have the money to buy a 1TB SSD/HDD.     The game lacks standart PC settings:
    - no 21:9 support (it displays the game on the whole screen but zooms in the fov so top and bottom or cut off)
    - no advanced graphic options: you can't disable anti aliasing, chromatic aberation, depth of field, ect. - no fps limit slider - you can't choose resolution in fullscreen - if you use borderless window and have a 16:9 resolution you see    The game lacks standart PC settings:

    Now gameplay. If you're a coop guy or solo and want to level your characters, you're out of luck. You DON'T get any XP when playing Coop vs AI or Solo vs AI, making half of the game not fun. Not everyone wants to play pvp and with even giving thei options to play coop you stil decide disabling xp gain in these modes.

    Buggy as hell:
    My very first online match (coop vs ai) I glitched inside a cupboard while evading and was stuck so I had to leave the match.
    My second online match my character stopped responding to my inputs. Pressing attack, aming, heavy attack the character just had a spastic seizure and constantly said "need to reload" "need to reload" "need to reload". Couldn't interact with anything and became useless to the group resulting into leaving yet again the match.

    Don't buy this game until they fixed these issues.

    Haven't tried pvp yet but what I heard demons seem to be OP stunlocking you so you can't do ****

    This game is so clearly unbalanced, repitious, and flat-out boring, yet these fanboys still think it constitutes a near-perfect score. It needs a lot of patches and updates before it even comes close to receiving a score in the green.

At which point survivors have higher tier weapons to combat you anyway.

    Also people keep comparing this game to Dead By Daylight. STOP. ITS NOT. Absolutely nothing like DBD except that its 4v1. Its extremely similar to Resident Evil Resistance. Another failed horribly balanced and boring game.    … Expand

    This is a great tribute to the movie saga. It has a style of gameplay similar to Dead By Daylight but it is much better in every way. The graphics and customization are exquisite, it is very pleasant to play. A must have in your game library!

    The game looks great, never had an issue with lag or connection, people are salty and trolling from DBD, the game has some glitches but it is less buggy than most games and it runs far better than Friday The 13th at launch. The game also looks great and is a fun addition to the genre.

    Feels like I'm in the movie. It isn't by any means a perfect game, but a lot of games these days are released half baked. This game has its problems, but they are all solvable.

    What this game does right is that it really makes you feel a part of the universe. It is pretty fun if your teammates don't ditch you too, which can cost you the game. I had one game where everyone was out for themselves. That wasn't a good experience, but afterwards I got a team who was really sticking together and man it just made it so much more fun. I highly recommend making an organized group if you are intent on winning. If not, then playing with randoms is no big deal. I do it and win still.

    I did have a one bug where I can't move, but none other than that. And only once in about 20ish something games played.

    ps - my review is a biased because it is my favorite horror movies of all time, so what can I say? total fan boy entrenched in a world I've been waiting to enjoy in a game like this. 10/10    … Expand

    A beautiful love letter to the franchise, but more than than, an excellent game in its own right. More action packed than Dead by Daylight and far more entertaining and well paced than most other asymmetrical multiplayer games on the market, Evil Dead is a delightful romp with enough content and characters to keep you entertained for the foreseeable future.

    Mixing together the films and the television series, Sam Raimi’s universe comes alive in a new entry into the asymmetric horror games. Four players pick from a pool of characters with different abilities and hero classes, while one player controls a demon class.

    The heroes work together exploring the map, finding weapons, supplies, and focusing on the primary objectives to achieve victory; Finding three parts of a map, retrieving the Kandarian Dagger and the lost pages of the Necronomicon, defeating the Dark Ones, then one last stand defending the restored Necronomicon.

    The demon controls the very evil seen in the franchise. The creepy presence traveling through the woods destroying everything in its path, possessing people and summoning unnatural entities to prevent the heroes from banishing you.

    This was an immediate purchase for me after watching a couple streamers play it. I only needed to see two things. Bruce Campbell and Evil Ash. Army of Darkness has always been one of my favorite movies and this game allowed me to enjoy that in a new way.
    Outside of the main player vs player mode the game does offer a single player experience through a set of story missions. They serve as a nice dive into the game systems leading into the main core of the game. Each unlocks a part of the backstory of Evil Dead and a new hero to use. Oddly very challenging. They offer no check points through the mission and they can easily take up to 30-40 mins to complete. One fatal mistake at the end will cost you a fresh restart. Ouch.

    What this game does well is the ambience of The Evil Dead. Puns, lines right from the movie, characters, demons, jump scares and a feeling of terror. It bundles it all into a 30 minute or less multiplayer match.

    My main concern lies with the longevity of the game's health over time. Finishing a match grants you two different experience points. One for the character you played and one free bank to use on any character. But outside of just playing a match to level up there aren't any other player/demon goals for you to focus on. Personally I enjoy a game more when I have my own personal goals to work on while also playing.

    For example, another asymmetric horror game, Dead by Daylight has a system in place that gives you choices of goals to work on while playing a match. It just adds a bit more to a game that scratches a good part of my brain.
    There is still time for Evil Dead to implement new systems or fun things for players. Recently it was announced by the developers that a free dlc will be coming in the summer with a new map themed around Army of Darkness.

    First thing this game is not Dead by Daylight trash type of game where you doing ONE objective like a monkey over and over again and ppl are so bored that being Toxic on forums is more fun for them than playing. This game is about Tactic ( no flashlight click click or T bagging , moonwalking ) . When you play as the human team you need to act quiet, do objectives, LOOT and think about surroundings because Demon at start is Weak and he cannot even know where are you but like in the movies when humans are cocky and for example want to jump to the car just because they think this is GTA Demon will instantly know where on map this happening and he can adjust his gameplay ( set up traps close to them or predict where they are going ) Game is very fun for a Demon and Survivors because they both got tons of tools to fight with, not only run ( and throw pallet lol ) GORE is massive in this game, demons Puke , bleed , throw they arms and heads and use them as a weapon, mini ashes jump from lockers and steal your weapons, ash hand fight with you, finishers are brutal and playing as a demon is just like in the movie : start weak, use traps to scare everyone and prepare your "playground" , grow in power and summon demons stronger and stronger, posses other players and try to kill their friends or just waste their ammo, finally be strong enough to summon your vessel ( boss ) and this is so great

    I'd suggest finding a squad you play with and trust instead of randoms though. Sometimes you get really good people who    The game is super fun!     A love letter to fans of the franchise. Gory, campy, silly chainsaw and broomstick wielding affair. This genre fits the evil dead franchise perfectly, couldn't have asked for more - can't wait for the DLC

    I thought this game was going to be so so... but I was very wrong! This is an excellent game! similar to Dead by daylight but the survivors can fight back, and not so repetitive. What a Thrill.

    Such a beautiful game. With just 1 map in the game so far, I still find myself in new areas and fun easter eggs from the Evil Dead universe with 15 hours in the game so far. I was not completely sold while watching the trailers, but was completely blown away after I started playing the game myself. I highly recommend this game to anyone who enjoys the Evil Dead franchise!

    I haven't had this much fun in a multiplayer game since PUBG was new. Obviously there are some balancing things that can be worked out over time. The shooting and action is solid. There is a level of depth to this game that I'm surprised by. Also this game runs great even on my laptop. I hope the developers continue to make smart decisions and continue to add cool fun stuff to this cool fun game.

    game capture quite good on evil dead 2 tone with great graphics and mk level kill animations. it can be great thrid prerson horror comedic single player stroy game like old evil deads. but sadly multipalyer focused and map kinda too big. otherside not choose simply demons controling demons and goodhgys playing with diffrent ash versions. game allow to everyone chose to ash.

    Doesn't launch unless you wait for at least half an hour, and when it does, it says you can't play it without an internet connection, when you clearly do have one and a really good one too.
    Saber Interactive has done it again.

    Затем началась гонка лвлов.

    You will never play as surviviour beacuse noone plays demon and everyone plays surv. That means that you'll have to wait 1000 minutes to join the session. The demons are terribly weak and the survs are overpowered. The balance is complete trash. Don't buy this game unless you want to ruin your gaming expirience. 0/10. The worst 15 usd spent in my life.

    Admittedly my group of gaming friends didn't want to partake in this game. I know! How lame, if I could review them I'd give them a 3 out of 10 but as it is here. Playing 'alone' with randos I can't give this one more then a 6. It's a pretty fun game actually, well put together and very fun to be apart of the world for an Evil Dead fan. I feel like it's fun enough and put together well enough to potentially have gotten a higher score but my experience with it couldn't raise it any. There were some technical issues and horrid people to play with of course. Cause we all know that people suck! Not you or me of course! But, you know, people. Others, that are never us but some how beings that exist that just suck to play with.
    The reason that most randos exist, is because they suck! Or are poopy people, they're stink masters and none of they're friends want to play with them or play the game that they're wanting to play. So they go into online gaming alone playing with other people that are in a similar situation. WAIT, what?! Oh no!! No! Not me! NOT ME TOO!! NO!!!! I promise, I'm no Rando! I... I... WHO AM I?! What have I become? I promise, I'm no rando but I did happen to play alone and randomly with other people who ARE randos. But not me! My mom didn't raise me to be no random person to play Evil Dead The Game with. No! She raised me right. OR DID SHE!? NEVER KNOW! OR DO YOU?

    Anywho... It would be a fun weekend with some friends, a fun couple hours alone... But in either case probably not worth a whole lot of time more than that. If it wasn't Evil Dead it would've gotten a lower score without friends. But it was fun getting back into this world in this way. Don't buy it, unless on a deep deep sale. Or, like I said before if you have a group of friends that are dedicated to putting enough time into it to make it worth it. Even with that, not worth more then $15. GOOD DAY TO YOU!    … Expand

    This game is cashgrab and pay to win! Servers are bad, new updates are only for money and adds only pay to win characters and demon!

    Picked it up at a giveaway in Epic Games. And I can say that I would not pay for this game.
    The graphics in this game are not bad. And there are many character.
    But the optimization here is terrible. It has a lot of bugs. The shooting here is poorly.
    To play a few evenings with friends is not bad, but no more. And I wouldn't play it myself.

All they had to do is use the IP created by people who are more creative and intelligent and not make it suck by implementing bad gameplay... and they failed.     The game is insanely hard for no reason and the fact you can't change difficulty setting is insane. Not everyone wants a game that just destroys you off the bat and some would like it easier. No wonder they give this away for free.

    Evil Dead: The Game is clunky but loveable. It's a very good movie-to-video game adaptation, and it's likely as close as we're going to get to a proper and decent "Evil Dead" video game. I had a good deal of fun with it, both as a fan of the movies and as a gamer. It twists a familiar game concept just enough and bolsters it with additional mechanics so that it feels fresh again. Longevity is definitely a concern in terms of content, but at least console cross-play ensures that its player base will stay healthy for a little while.

    Evil Dead: The Game is a magnificent addition to the film that Sam Raimi made. It lives up to the gore and satirical glory that earned decades of reputation for Raimi, and this title combines them in a survival game where you must be creative and smart to know how to finish each level.
