    Pros

    - The combat is acceptable
    - There are rewards for exploration

    Cons

    - Alienates the original Everspace fanbase by scrapping the roguelike concept of the first game for a mediocre story driven sequel.
    - Uninteresting environment. Everywhere looks the same.
    - Encounters are extremely repetitive

    A wall of boring repetitive grind. Bad music and mobile-like gameplay do not help the grind at all. The endless "find a piece in a random place and put it where it fits" puzzles get tedious within the first few hours. You even have to grind for the fast travel that you unlock pretty late into the game. I ended up never using it at all.

    EDIT: finished the game, the story is anything but okay. Just like everything else in the game, it shows promise initially, but eventually takes a huge nosedive and loses any semblance of quality.    … Expand

    I can say nothing good about this game at all. And to think I backed them on Kickstarter because the first Everspace was so much fun.... ugh! What a colossal failure.

    Everspace 2 is a perfect blend of an arcade shooter and space-looting action RPG, but not without its flaws. While a massive departure from the first Everspace game, if you’re nostalgic for classics like Freelancer and want a story that would fit perfectly into a 90s action sci-fi movie, this is the game for you.

    If you were a fan of Privateer grab a copy. If you just like the idea of an open world space flight game with aspects of role playing grab a copy… if you might be… maybe wait for a sale then grab a copy.

    A paradise for gamers that leave no stone unturned. There’s no procedural generation involved, so every nook and cranny were hand-made, and there’s a generous amount of loot to be found. [Issue#262, p.68]
