Jul 5, 2024Everspace 2 is a perfect blend of an arcade shooter and space-looting action RPG, but not without its flaws. While a massive departure from the first Everspace game, if you’re nostalgic for classics like Freelancer and want a story that would fit perfectly into a 90s action sci-fi movie, this is the game for you.

Sep 20, 2023If you were a fan of Privateer grab a copy. If you just like the idea of an open world space flight game with aspects of role playing grab a copy… if you might be… maybe wait for a sale then grab a copy.
-
Game World Navigator MagazineAug 29, 2023A paradise for gamers that leave no stone unturned. There’s no procedural generation involved, so every nook and cranny were hand-made, and there’s a generous amount of loot to be found. [Issue#262, p.68]

Aug 21, 2023Everspace 2 is the definition of a mixed bag — it’s great in some areas, but awful in others. For every exciting sidequest or random event, there’s a long, boring main mission to suffer through. For every thrilling combat scenario, there are dozens of loading screens that rip me out of the experience. I wish it held together a bit more consistently because Everspace 2 starts off as a promising adventure, but by the time I reached the end of Adam’s saga, seeing credits felt, ultimately, more like a burden lifted from my shoulders than the epic end to a space odyssey it could have been.
-
Jul 21, 2023Everspace 2 is what sci-fi fan want. It's gorgeous, has a frenetic action and its exploration is so good. Also is an excellent evolution of its predecessor.
-
Apr 28, 2023With Everspace 2, Rockfish takes the leap from roguelike to a full-fledged space adventure in a giant galaxy. Here there are endless things to explore, but a lack of variety means that the experience quickly loses its zest.
-
Apr 28, 2023Don't mind me complaining about its monotony, a game with a similar sense of action and exploration comes along once in a blue moon. Fans of sci-fi set in space should not miss it.
-
Apr 25, 2023Everspace II is a great trip to the stars and planets, where your spaceship really has a lot of uses. It manifests itself in combat, when completing tasks (sometimes with puzzle elements) and developing the story. It is massive, fun, you will spend dozens of hours exploring the corners of the universe.
-
Apr 25, 2023Everspace 2 offers great graphics, awesome music, brilliant sounds, and a fantastically fun gameplay cycle. I didn't anticipate that this easy-to-play, intense action setup would last for an entire game, but I'm not dissatisfied or bored after 50 hours with the title.
-
Edge MagazineApr 20, 2023While Rockfish has created an accomplished open-world experience among the stars, then, it really needn't take up quite so much space. [Issue#384, p.110]

Apr 19, 2023Everspace 2 scratches that glowing itch inside your brain that demands a casual space simulator experience. It’s a love letter to a simpler time in video games, a time when player engagement statistics weren’t a thing and there wasn’t an endless cadence of updates, microtransactions, and downloadable content. Instead, Everspace 2 is a 30-hour romp through a serviceable, but not stellar, story. Indeed, the star of the show is the arcade-like flight controls, accessible combat, and endless degree of customisation options for your ship. If you accept Everspace 2 for what it is and recalibrate your expectations, you’ll have a great time.
-
Apr 18, 2023There is nothing remarkable about Everspace 2, but it IS a high-quality, fun and exciting experience overall. It expands on the ideas of the first game in all directions, but to say about Everspace 2 " is a next-level type of game is stretching things a bit. You can sit for an hour or two after work, get stuck, and still get a lot of pleasure from the process. I would even say that Everspace 2 is the best arcade space looter shooter at the moment.
-
Apr 17, 2023Excellent graphics and a very good combat system are stained by a story component that is subpar. A shame, because Everspace 2 could have otherwise aspired to the heights of Freelancer.
-
Apr 16, 2023While not quite the Freelancer killer we were hoping for, this is still one of the best space shooters money can buy. Everspace 2 is packed with content, full of areas to explore, fun combat, great graphics and a robust loot system. The story is a big step up from the first game as well, only hampered by its weak presentation and sometimes underwhelming atmosphere.
-
Apr 13, 2023Everspace 2 works very well too. Despite all the changes compared to the first chapter, or perhaps precisely because of them, it manages to present itself as a space epic on the one hand, and as an engaging shooter with spaceships on the other.
-
Apr 11, 2023Frantic, spectacular and fun, Everspace 2 is limited only by its own abundance, that can stun the player.
-
Apr 7, 2023Disguised as a simple space sim, Everspace 2 hides an engine full of solid and very well accomplished ARPG systems. The story leaves something to be desired, but there is no shortage of options when it comes to the variety of builds possible. Combat is a real pleasure at every stage of the game, propelled by systems that are easy to understand and deep enough to let your skill and imagination run wild.
-
Apr 7, 2023Rockfish put Everspace 2 together with insanely good intuition. They blended components that, in lesser hands, could have either seemed conveniently stolen together or difficult to reconcile and made them into a wonderfully coherent whole. The result is a game that repeatedly makes you forget about time, while you fly from one pulp sci-fi poster into the next, with your mouth wide open.
-
Apr 6, 2023EverSpace 2 is a snazzy loot shooter with intense combat that could do better with its story and world.
-
Apr 6, 2023EVERSPACE 2 shakes things up in the aerial/space combat genre, resulting in a unique shooter with solid RPG mechanics that feel fresh for the genre.
-
Apr 5, 2023Lately, the gaming landscape has seen a constant stream of open world action-rpgs that feel vapid and bloated and that might as well have all come from the same mold. This isn’t Everspace 2’s case, however. Rockfish’s game builds and improves upon the achievements of its predecessor, delivering an incredibly entertaining combat, beautiful vistas, and plenty of content, managing to bring a much-needed breath of fresh air in an over-crowded genre.
-
Apr 5, 2023Everspace 2 doesn’t have a great story and its systems aren’t particularly deep, but the things it does well more than make up for its shortcomings. Once you get into the rhythm of traveling from map to map and clearing all of the objectives, it’s alarmingly easy to lose track of time. Rockfish has stuffed so many stunning locations into this game. Whether you’re skimming the surface of a desert planet, circling a half-destroyed moon with its core exposed, or navigating through tight corridors to deliver ramen in a floating metropolis, there’s always something new to see. I’m so glad there’s finally an approachable space sim out there, and I can’t wait to dive into the Ancient Rift endgame loot farm. This is a game I’m going to be playing for a long time.
-
Apr 5, 2023Sadly, even if there's a huge map to explore filled with scenic views, there's a sense of emptiness beyond the blackness of space. Everspace 2 is lonely, leaving you to tackle most threats from beyond by yourself.
-
Apr 4, 2023Everspace 2 is pure, distilled video game, all about how its space combat action plays moment to moment rather than whether that makes sense in a game world or fits a complex and nuanced story.
-
Apr 4, 2023Everspace 2 is a fun looter/shooter RPG with an engaging yet down-to-earth story that will keep you entertained for days.
-
Apr 4, 2023Some fans will surely miss the roguelike structure of the original, but for fans looking to further explore its world or to spend more time in the game’s splendid combat, Everspace 2 delivers in spades.
-
Apr 4, 2023Everspace 2 lets me live out the outer space-related dreams of my youth thanks to its open space exploration and well-designed spacecraft combat. Moving from a roguelike to an open-world exploration game is a tall task, but Rockfish nailed it here. Flying around space is exhilarating, fighting against enemy ships is a rush, and the story keeps me guessing. There are a few issues throughout, namely with the disorienting nature of the ship's movement, but once you're used to it the game simply sings. I have a feeling I will be traveling in the dark reaches of space for hours and hours to come.
-
Apr 4, 2023Rare is the sequel that shifts genre from its predecessor, and rarer still is the sequel that lands said shift in a successful and seamless way, but this is exactly the case with Everspace 2. It’s packed to the nines with twitch shooting to keep you engaged, a satisfying loot grind bolstered by diverse item choices, a gorgeous rendition of space to zoom through, and a sizable amount of unique content. Moreover, it’s all wrapped up in a well-executed (if somewhat familiar) science fiction narrative. There’s certainly a blemish or two—chiefly the title’s struggle to pace non-combat sections—but Everspace 2 provides so much of a good thing that it’s hard to mind.
-
Apr 4, 2023Everspace 2 is a great space combat game infused with the spirits of Descent, Freelancer and Elite: Dangerous. To some degree it also resembles Diablo or Skyrim in space. You roam around planetary systems and complete missions, while upgrading your ship with heaps of varied armor pieces, weapons and gadgets. Overall, it is a very good game with tons of content, but sometimes you can notice that the developers had to cope with a limited budget.
-
Apr 4, 2023Everspace 2 is an excellent game filled to the brim with content. Regardless of your genre of choice, Everspace 2 will definitely have something for you, from a fun, lengthy story, to intense space combat, to an endgame fueled by the hunt for better loot.
-
Apr 4, 2023With fast paced frenetic combat, a story that keeps you guessing, and enough interlocked systems to bring it all together in a way the first game never could, Everspace 2 is the best space game I’ve played in a very long time. Rockfish reached for the stars, and damn if they didn’t catch ‘em.
-
Apr 4, 2023Everspace 2 contains enough gameplay variation and fun space combat to scratch the itch any wannabe pilots has been hoping to find in a sci-fi space shooter.
-
Apr 4, 2023Everspace 2 might seem like more of the same, especially thanks to its plodding prologue, but there's more going on here than you see at first glance. There's a stronger sense of place, better story, and more interesting cast that feel like they fulfill the original game's potential. Exploration is better than ever, and while combat hasn't changed too much, the careful balancing act of managing your resources makes every encounter feel fresh and exciting.
-
Apr 4, 2023So, an expertly crafted space adventure? Yes. One of the best examples of this genre we've ever seen? Also yes, with the caveat that it's a style of game that's been sadly under-represented in recent years. The lack of heavy simulation elements and emphasis on combat makes this a game that's perfect for a quick blast as well as longer play sessions, but it's also a satisfying and, thanks to all the side missions, really quite long adventure that'll keep you looting and shooting through space for up to 90 hours.
-
Apr 4, 2023Everspace 2 has a substantial story, solid flight and combat mechanics, and incredibly addictive, satisfying action. If looter/shooter and space combat don’t seem compatible, Everspace 2 proves they can work together quite well. The narrative, breathless arcade space battles, and deep customization keep Everspace 2 engaging for its full running time and beyond.
-
Apr 4, 2023Everspace 2 presents a whole galaxy to unlock and explore, or the ability to just fly around and cause mischief. Either is great fun.

Apr 17, 2023Everspace 2 departs from its predecessor to adhere to the Action RPG formula in the looter shooter style. Does it suit it well? No doubt it does. [Recommended]
-
Jan 15, 2021Everspace 2 is still in its infancy. The lack of roguelike elements many have come to love from the original may be a step in the wrong direction for many fans. However, in their absence is a bigger, more exciting universe, a passionate story, and a thrilling adventure. I can’t wait to see what’s on the horizon for Everspace 2.
-
Jan 24, 2021Its accessible maneuverability, put at the service of a classic but efficient progression, will seduce the budding pilot left on the sidelines by the advanced simulations. [Early Access Review Score = 75]
-
Apr 4, 2023Approach Everspace 2 like a single-player arcade space shooter with a 30 hour shelf life, rather than a Loot-Spewing Space Diablo you will play forever, and it’s enormously entertaining stuff. It’s like playing Freelancer for the first time again, or Colony Wars: Red Sun on a chipped PlayStation with the lid propped open.
-
Apr 14, 2023Everspace 2 manages to meld two radically different modes of combat, becoming one of the best space shooters in years.
