The developer is clearly committed to providing DLC that is cost effective and adds something meaningful to a group of its players - even if it's only a small niche within its overall player base. You're not going to miss out on anything if you don't buy this DLC pack. But then you might just get something out of the investment if you do.

Europa Universalis IV continues to be one of the most complex and immersing titles on the market, especially for strategy lovers, and long-term fans will certainly find the new concepts interesting, while those who have not played the game yet are better served by getting the core package before trying the expansions and the DLC.

Res Publica is a less significant expansion than Wealth of Nations, but it is cheaper, too. Pick it up if you plan to play as Poland or The Netherlands.

Res Publica gave me a reason to have a blast playing as the Dutch. It adds a fun, historically accurate story about the competition between two philosophies and political entities and asks you to harness their competition for the benefit of the empire.

A few nice adjustments and some new content that will not make you scream for joy but are worth the admission price if you're a fan.

Aside from those enjoyable new Dutch republics, however, a lot of the new mechanics in Res Publica feels like content Paradox didn't have time to slot into previous expansion Wealth of Nations, so it's a little disappointing to see it jammed into another content pack rather than simply patched in.
