When all you have to do is treat patients with the progress dial and occasionally talk to a fellow staff member, it just feels a little too much like work.

If you've never tackled a RPG strategy game before this is a good place to start. Not to mention that ER is budget priced. It's a good deal for the right gamer.

While preserving what it can of the spirit of the show -- the goofy patients, the romances, the cliques, and such -- It manages a mesh of genres that makes it hard to classify, but keeps it entertaining, if not addictive. Plus, for the core target audience, who's likely a casual gamer at most, it's surprisingly accessible.
  4. ER was too short for my taste and replayability is a problem as well, but it was easy to forgive these issues. This game offers rich and engaging gameplay and is adequately priced, so I feel confident in giving it the score.
  5. ER does manage to capture the spirit of the TV show. If you are looking for a casual sim game or if you are a fan of the show, consider giving ER a chance. There is plenty of material here to interest you.
  6. Let's hope, for their sake, that the inevitable sequel to ER keeps the good ideas but injects a little fun into the formula.
  7. Just not a very good game. It's playable, but even in that aspect it has some strikes against it versus other PC games thanks to bad camera work and a frustrating character control scheme.
  8. If you don't appreciate games with only so much to do and only so much to explore than ER probably isn't for you.

Quickly gets as dull as a three-hour wait in A&E. With a saucepan on your head. [Sept 2005, p.95]
  10. This game is boring. I will not play this game anymore, and I would have to say that the only people that should be playing it are die hard fans of the TV show. On second thought, I can’t recommend this title for them either.
  11. Bereft of tension and riddled with lazy animations, ER is far from infectious, though it does have an underlying charm that might dazzle the more clinically inclined (or failed medical students).
  12. As it stands, ER is a game specifically for fans of the show who are willing to stomach the inane gameplay.

It lacks any compelling features and gameplay decisions are trite, obvious, or both. Life is tedious enough without games like ER.
  14. The worst part of this game is getting around the hospital. Think track and groove. To get from triage to trauma 1 means a long walk, and a pretty standard route every time – you'd think there'd be a quick skip feature, but it's not there.

Little credibility of the series actually materialises and what results is a routine and monotonous strategy game.

Very fun to play! nice graphics! gets a little repetitive and ends to soon (short game!) but gets an 8.
