Love the art style and casual gameplay. It's probably not for hardcore gamers, it still gets challenging occasionally. Took me about 6 hours to complete without unlocking all side quests

definitely worth picking up if you love puzzle style games. The non-violent stealthing is casual and fun and the art style is pretty well done

An interesting mix of a stealth game and a point’n’click adventure, set in the Wild West. As a six-year-old boy, you have to cleverly use the environment to escape from bandits and find out what happened to your mother. Enemy AI could be better and some minor technical issues spoiled the fun a bit, but every puzzle in the game can be solved in many ways, and that’s something I always welcome with open arms. El Hijo is a fairly easy but satisfying game that you can play with your kid, as there’s not a drop of blood here. [02/2021, p.40]

Although a simpler, but very fun hybrid puzzle and stealth game, which caresses the soul with visuals and constantly surprises with new elements. [Issue#309]

El Hijo is certainly a lovely experience. It has gorgeous visuals, as much storytelling as a player wishes to see, smart puzzles, and some of the more frustrating aspects of stealth games are given features to make it more palatable to a larger audience. Sadly, though, these features dumb down the stealthing side to an extent and take away the dynamic feeling of many others of the genre, leaving players coming for a stealth heavy game wanting more.
