Echoes of Aetheria's dated, cliche-laden narrative and garish overworld sprites are a shame when you consider the rest of what the game has to offer: fun, strategic combat, gorgeous in-battle art and a surprisingly masterful soundtrack. If you can get past some of its less-polished elements, you'll probably have a great time.

Those looking to play a title reminiscent of classic JRPGs could certainly do a lot worse.

Great story, wonderful characters with skills that you can choose (both in type and strength of skill). You can play around with forging your own equipment/armor to see what works best for your characters. Since you heal after every battle, and the visible enemies don't respawn, the emphasis is on game play and exploration, which are rewarded. Thoroughly enjoyed every minute, and it took me about 30 hrs to complete. Full Review »

Yes, game-play is only half-decent and graphics is very simple, but cmon, it's RPG Maker, give it a brake. And it is still pretty enjoyable nonetheless. Try it if you like old-school JRPGs similar to early FF or DQ games, otherwise — pass. Full Review »
