Earthfall

It’s Left 4 Dead with aliens down to the very core, but a flattering rendition of the formula that’s worth playing with friends.

It's already a decent game, but compared with its inspiration Left 4 Dead it leaves a lot to be desired.

Earthfall is a valiant effort at trying to capture the lightning in a bottle once again that was Left 4 Dead. On paper it does a lot of things right, but in practice it lacks the soul and fire of what made Valve’s iconic zombie games so effective almost a decade ago.

The co-operative alien hunt is a decent Left 4 Dead clone that lacks variety, a decent balance and content in general.

The technically moldy Left-4-Dead clone is entertaining with the right team, but tries too hard.

Earthfall is a decent Left 4 Dead clone with aliens instead of zombies, lots of weapons but a disappointing replay value.

Earthfall might be a little frustrating if you have high expectations from it, as it suffers greatly from lack of content. But all in all it’s a standard 4 player coop shooter that can be very fun.

Earthfall doesn't try in the slightest to differentiate itself from Left 4 Dead, feeling in the end like a "fan-made" mode. There is fun to be had when played with friends, just devoid of anything we haven't seen before (done better).

A title able to entertain and then quickly betray those who play. A light gunplay and a too aggressive spawn system undermine the few original ideas. We recommend Earthfall only to those who still dream of a third chapter of Left 4 Dead, but there's better around.

Earthfall is a cooperative FPS with a few interesting ideas that it fails to deliver on. Built on a poor foundation of unsatisfying combat and repetitive mission structure, every aspect of the game is mediocre at best. With some serious retooling, its light building mechanic could be an interesting twist, but there’s little reason to play Earthfall in its current state with so many better examples of the genre already out there.

Parts of Earthfall present a certain charm, and the co-op shooting experience could certainly be fun with the right group of friends. But it’s hard to get away from the fact that Earthfall is a lesser incarnation of a decade-old game, with fewer modes and missions, at a higher price.

Co-op alien-blasting shooter, Earthfall, is a decent clone of Left 4 Dead... and that's the problem with it, as it should be much, much more than that. Simply put, the foundation is great, but the structure on top of it is not worth the rent.

Earthfall is not a bad game. But it's also far from being a very good one. It's biggest problem is the lack of epic fights. In a FPS you expect a good feeling in weapons but here every weapon feels like a paintball rifle - not enough recoil and not enough feeling of power. Overall, the game is too generic and too close of Left 4 Dead but without the fabulous mechanics. A game to have a bit of fun for one evening with friends, but nothing more.

Earthfall just isn’t fun. The game has a solid foundation but that structure doesn’t hold anything that’s entertaining or interesting enough to merit the effort of playing it, especially when there are already several superior games that inhabit the same subgenre.
