I jumped in my seat, I never jump! The beginning of the game is a rather lengthy tutorial that will end at the first airdrop mission.

The visuals are amazing, the sounds and voice acting are very good. there are performance problems with a little video lag here and there.I found that turning motion blur off speeds the game up a lot and the video lag is gone. Be mindful that performance issues are going to happen in a first day release pc game. Most developers will eventually have a patch available.Patience is key here..

The weapons are varied but fun to use. The fighting with zombies is believeable. They are hard to kill and take effort to put into the ground.

The crafting system reminds me of Alien Isolation's way of crafting items. As a matter of fact, if you look hard you can see where they borrowed from other games. The safe house tower in the Northeast corner of the map reminded me a lot of the comm towers in Far Cry 4.

I recommend the game if you have the hardware to get it to run. I was going to only play it briefly yesterday and that turned into over 8 hours!

Ive played quite a few zombie survival games and this is probably the first one, that I liked very much. Graphics is top notch, especially character faces. Gameplay is interesting and intense. Missions are fun. Clearly the first contender for Game of the Year award.

As a fan of Dead Island and Riptide I expected loads from this game and it delivers to a certain extent.

In the typical spirit of Techland the game was really poorly optimized but it does run better now with the latest patch (1.4) and you can even change more stuff with 3rd party programs and whatnot.

So why does it still get a 10?

Well, there is nothing else like it out there, the parkour is what makes the game so damn fantastic to play, so fluent and you can really feel your character become better at it as you go.
Pair the parkour elements with things like a grappling hook and you can really blast your way through the great looking areas of the game who I am sure will get some upgraded looks now that modding really works.

The game is best played with friends in co-op though single-player does work, the day and night elements really make it fun and challenging depending on how you've built your character and what weapons you have to use.

Also the Co-Op is great. Ubisoft, take a queue... When I play with on my friend's game in Far Cry 4, it should also save that progress to my game like this game is. No redoing on my local game.

Also, I have no lag and no frame drops like other people are stating... 8 hrs in... but then again, I'm not like other people that put together crap machines and expect to run modern, amazing graphics.

I highly recommend it. This is how seriously I like it... It will only be the second game I have bought the season pass for the game. (Bioshock Infinite is the previous). 10/10

I am surprised by how poorly received this game has been. It isn't perfect, but damn is it fun! With a full-fledged parkour system, fun and engaging melee combat, and plenty of weapons/looting/crafting, this one is a must have for those who enjoyed games like Borderlands, Dishonored, and Dead Island. Here's my summary.

With a full-fledged parkour system, fun and engaging melee combat, and plenty of weapons/looting/crafting, this one is a must have for those who enjoyed games like Borderlands, Dishonored, and Dead Island. Here's my summary.

Gameplay: Excellent. Aside from some slightly awkward parkour animations, everything is highly responsive and generally feels good, with a fine sense of "weight." Parkour is precise and exhilarating - you really can go anywhere, and eventually you get the best grappling hook I've ever seen in an FPS. Combat is also smooth and responsive, with plenty of options - dodging, jumping over people, tackling, slide kicks, jump kicks, heavy/light attacks, throwing weapons, guns, air attacks, stealth takedowns, shields - it's all here. Zombies react realistically to getting hit, with a pretty extensive damage system. You can see the physics react to every hit, and it honestly feels better than most melee FPS games. Also, did I mention how many weapons there are? Well, there are tons, and you can augment them. Seriously, I haven't had this much fun looting since the original Borderlands. As for stealth, there are some options, but no silenced guns. You are limited to melee takedowns. AI is pretty damn finicky. All in all, it is passable - stealth can be employed with some enjoyment, but it's often more fun to cause mayhem in this one.

Story: Meh. Did you actually buy this for the story? Go watch The Walking Dead

Graphics/sound: Fantastic, aside from the occasional low-res texture. It can look almost photorealistic at times. Sounds are right on. Music ranges from excellent to cliche. Voice acting is good - not great, just good.

Ultimately, 8/10. I rated higher to boost this games reputation. Take note, there are minor performance issues on the PC, which are slowly getting worked out. Oh, and mod tools are coming.

Buy this for the gameplay if you like parkour, melee combat, and looting. You will not be disappointed.

The overall story line follows a formula that is similar to Fallout or Skyrim where you have a main story line, but there are multiple side quests and surprises for you to find in the open world where you are free to wander around.

I'll talk more about the performance of this game rather than the graphics, game play as you can easily load up a youtube gameplay video to see the game in action.

This game requires a great GPU, but also requires heavy CPU processing power as well. I have an I5 4670k running @ 3.4GHz. During game play with the view distance at 50%, all virtual/physical CPU cores were operating at 100% and was causing the game to operate at 30-35 fps. My 2x R9 290s were not being utilized fully. I had to overclock the CPU cores to 4.0GHz each then I was able to maintain 60 fps throughout most of the game.

If you have a great video card, but do not have a great CPU, then try taking the draw distance down until the game is smooth enough for you. You can also try overclocking your CPU to get better results if you find your CPU is the bottleneck.

Overall, and excellent game and will be talked about for years to come and newer games will be judged on the new standards and the bar that has been set by Dying Light.

Excellent. Reviews have been saying it doesn't do anything particularly innovative. If you look at the inidividual game mechanics in isolation then that's undeniable. However, I haven't played a more absorbing and damn frightening game in, well, ever. Very, very well done boys.

This is just a **** of a hater who hates because he hates to hate.

Game kinda the same like Dead Island but made in new way. Here you have to survive not to rush throu massess of zombies killing every one of them. Thinking, planning and executing - its a good plan to survive. Character development is simple but well specified. Nothing more to add. Crafting - fast and simple. One minus to crafting is that you need to craft one item a time Can live with that. Graphic is much better than Dead Island. I cant see all aspects of it cause my 6-7 years old pc but Im happy with that I have. Even with that its still can run high-end games.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Dying Light is an excellent zombie survival game from the developers behind Shadows of Mordor and Dead Island (the game feels like both of those mixed together, along with 3 grams of awesome salt).

Crafting System: Fun. Find blueprints to modify exsisting weapons with effects like shock, fire, poison, impact, and bleeding, or a number of cominations there of. Requires components you find all over the world. DLC blueprints need some work, they often downgrade your weapons, but I'll overlook that, because 99% of them work. When you mod weapons, there is a visible effect on them by the way, which is always nice.

Customization: There are quite a few options for customization of your character's clothes as you progress through the game (you can't change his face though, so in 4 player multplayer you look like quadruplets, which is creepy, but the guy looks cool enough, and it's first person, so you really only see his hands and feet and hear his voice). Currently, there are 3 outfits you can get from DLC's, including a secret agent and a ninja (with the Ninja being *deep breath* FREAKING AMAZING!). You get a quite a few outfits during the story, and they get cooler as you get them.

Gameplay: Incredible. Really shines in at least 2 player multiplayer, and 4 players is super fun. You can chop off their legs, bash in their skull with your rebar hammer, or grab their neck and slam their ugly face into it. Cool environmental ways of killing zombies, such as grappling them into eachother then throwing a molotov on the pile, or kicking them in the arse straight off a building. (PS, grapple throwing zombies off of the freeway is soooo satisfying.)

Mob Variety: Mobs extremly varied. Here's a list:
Infected, or Biters (they've been "dead" for awhile, your average zombie),
Bomber (they kinda explode, pick them off first, they can one shot you if they get too close),
Virals (recently turned, very very fast, spawn from noise, and also sometimes speak to you, begging for mercy as they go beserk and try to eat your face),
Gastanks (Guys in hazmat suits that have a gas tank on their back which can be shot at for a noisily efficent form of killing groups of zombies)
(There are also Suiciders, hazmat guys that only spawn at night which charge you and explode when they get to you, like bombers, but harder to kill. Pain. In. The. Rear.)
Goon (really buff slow swinging hammer wielding death zombies... of doom.)
Demolisher (basically a goon, but only seen at higher levels, and has super fists instead of a hammer. Charges you, punches you, throws nearby cars and other big heavy stuff at you, take a lot of damage to kill. have a helmet and armor you have to beat off before you can reliably damage him.)
Volatile (only show up at night, super strong, agile, and really friggen mean.)
Toads (spitters, they don't move away from where they stand unless trying to avoid getting smacked by your crowbar)
Bolters (only spawn at night, do not attack, get scared if they realize they have been seen, spawn in certain marked locations, drop valuable resources for crafting high end gear, usually surrond themselves with less friendly zombies,)
That's about it. The big guys can sometimes be lured into nailing their buddies too.

Leveling System: You have 3 differnet skill trees (Agility, Power, and Survival), each of which level, you get a point for the one that levels when it levels, you spend the point in it's tree, eventually you level enough to have all the skills, just a matter of the order you want to get them in.

Day Night Cycle: Day/Night is very real and very deadly. Don't be fooled by other posts saying "why there no day night cycle?". They clearly didn't finish the tutorial. There is no day night during the first two missions, because you are still learning to play, and night time is very difficult to not die during (death is rather inconsequenstial however, at least by end game. Death makes you lose survival xp, which is gained from quests and surviving nights. But once max survival xp, which happens before you finish the story if you do all quests, you don't lose anything other than current location from death.) Night is when crazy monsters come out, running around outside at night gives 2x xp bonus. Safe Houses let you sleep to make night pass safely. You gotta clear them first.

Parkour: Really Fun, Really Simple. I play Mouse and Keyboard for this game, so to parkour, you just run up next to something climbable, and press spacebar. There are tons of skills to get that let you do parkour faster, and do new moves to help you climb easier (if you can get the skill Tic Tac, GET IT!!! Why? Because... OMG!!!) Or fall more betterer (because you want to fall as besterest as you can!).

    Air Drops? Yes.
    Dismemberment? Yes.
Scary/Creepy? Lets just say (SPOILER ALERT) that I saw a zombie baby... yeah...
    Multiplayer? Yes.
Can I be a Zombie? Yeah. A Mean one too.
    Fun? Heck Yes!
Should you buy it? Hmm, let me think... YES! So worth it!

The first night on this game is one that is so creepy and you actually feel rushed to run to safe places and make sure not to get killed. It actually makes you feel like you are being chased and makes you want to keep playing. This game has mastered that feeling of being helpless at night where there are creepy things out there. The only problem with it is that once you figure out how the zombies work, the night just becomes really boring and it feels like everything is just really stupid and unaware. For some reason you can see where the zombies can see on the map which removes the element of surprise, zombies are dumb and rarely ever catch you. It's that feeling in the beginning of the game where they make a zombie see you automatically that is so worth it, nothing can replace that feeling. I hope to see the game get even more scary and continue to improve if they make a sequel. Expand

I played Resident Evil back in the day, that bored the **** out of me. I left RE to those who liked looking at doors closing and opening every damn minute. I played Dead Island. That was cool, but it was more linear than Dying Light. Dying Light is massive, it has such a huge open world environment in comparison to the Dead Island series, that it just really shouldn't be compared to it in the first place. If you haven't got this game because you don't like the overproduced Zombie genre of game, make this one, and quite possibly any direct sequels, a rare - but very worthwhile - exception.

This game is probably the best game I've played since 2013. The combat is visceral, enjoyable and immersive. The parkour flows well and is useful compared to just running down the street. But, to be special, I'll make a bit of a list.

Gameplay: Guns are nothing to write home about. Use them on bandits, use them on missions, keep them in your infinite pack otherwise. The melee combat is awesome, however. Melee weapons have impact. While the elemental weapons don't make the game very realistic, it makes it fun. Smashing a zombie with an Impact modded baseball bat only to send him through the window of the house next door is so satisfying. Zapping a zombie with a lightning pipe never gets old, either.
The Parkour is the best part of this game to me. It flows better than Mirror's Edge, keeping the pacing and flow of Mirror's Edge and getting rid of the painful head bob while parkouring. Climbing ledges, jumping from roof to roof and smashing a zombie in the face work together like a chicken breast and the world's best barbecue sauce in existence.

The story itself is rather generic and predictable with the unoriginal "chaos rules all" antagonist from Far Cry 3 without the charm and wit. Or the insanity.

Overall, this game is a very solid purchase if you want to dump 70 hours into dashing from roof to roof smashing **** up. Better parkour than Assassin's Creed, better combat than Sleeping Dogs and a more immersive environment than GTA V. It does demand quite a bit out of your computer, but any console or $600+ computer (provided you didn't build it yourself) should be able to pull off a solid 30+ FPS. Even at the lowest graphics, the game is beautiful.
Also, the easter eggs range from rather amusing to both hysterical and highly useful as well. There is a certain grenade easter egg that makes zombies float into the air, and then smash down into the ground like the guy from Star Trek warped away their bones. It never stops being funny.

I didn't mention Be the Zombie mode, either. It's a decent little extra, but it needs bit of balancing. I got a good 7 hours on it. Fun with friends, not so much with pubbies.

Finally a game that combines all the good elements from Dead Island, Skyrim and FarCry to create a vast and immersive open-ended world that is full with interesting locations and missions to explore and it will never make you feel bored while doing it.

Despite minor flaws like cheesy acting and NPC:s who look like cloned mannequin dolls with bad lipsynching the game captures the most important thing - it feels FUN to play and is extremely rewarding when you bash in scores of zombies or when you level up and finally can unlock a perk that will help you feel less vulnerable when running through the endless hordes of undead that you encounter on a regular basis of the streets of Harran. The wonderful graphics and lightning effects in combination with the amazing sound effects and scary music makes you gasp for air when you get surrounded in battle or hang from a rooftop just a slip away from death.

Hands down the best PS4 game out there right now and hopefully there will be a sequel soon with improved NPC:s and added vehicles and also a larger scale map in a different setting would be cool addition too.

I'm only at 8 hours playtime but I can say the game is worth the money. I'm writing this after the first patch 1.2.1 and nvidia drivers 347.25 and the performance is a lot better now than it was at first (at least for me).

The story is interesting and makes you want to keep going, the characters are very lifelike due to the smooth animations and modern graphics and the voice acting is

Inventory system works great and the fact that you can upgrade and modify weapons on the go is a big plus compared to Dead Island's system where you needed a workstation.

Some people are complained that the weapons break too fast and, well, yes they do, but that should just give you more motivation to find better weapons, modify and upgrade them. You can also use talent points to make weapons last longer or make repaired easier.

The talent system works really well. Everything you do helps you to improve some of your skills. With a system like that it's okay to go off course and help some fellow survivors or kill some bad guys. Because it's all rewarding in some way or another, either through loot, money or new talents.

I'm also really happy that they didn't implement a fast-travel system like we've seen in Fallout, Skyrim and Dead Island. Sometimes you have to run a lot back and worth but again, it's fine as it can be rewarding in new talents or new discoveries.

They are plenty of side quests that also introduces you to interesting characters. Even though you run about a lot the game does not seem repetitive as all the missions vary a lot in my opinion.

The ragdoll effects on the zombies are simply amazing and only adds a certain realism to the game. Hands down the best first-person zombie game to date.

Techland has really payed attention to detail. I was in a random room in a random building and randomly looked up at a wall clock. You know, the ones who are almost always static in games, but this one actually moved. I liked that.

I was going to give this game a 9, but it gets a 10 because of the character Jade Aldemir. She's a cool character and not bad on the eyes either. She reminds me of of Alyx Vance from Half Life 2. Anyway I'll get back to the game now. Good Night, Good Luck.

Don't let the Dead Island affiliation sway you one way or the other, Dying Light is its own game and it's rightfully fun, but it's not something that is Game of the Year material to me. If you like zombie games and open world games then this is worth the pickup, but otherwise I'd skip it until it goes on sale, because it's still a really fun game no matter how you dice it.

It’s a game of a thousand house calls, in which everyone needs something they can’t get or do for themselves. Catastrophe has made every doorstep a welcome place, with disease and death the justification for an openness that might seem unthinkable under other circumstances.

If you can get past the clunky storytelling and the repetitive missions, you might a diamond in the rough that really empowers you to revel in the design aspects of its zombie-infested sandbox.
