Jun 22, 2011If you can stomach the controls, you'll find a well-polished action RPG beneath that surface.
-
LEVEL (Czech Republic)Aug 29, 2011Don't be discouraged by the slow and dumb beginning of the game – you'll be rewarded by many hours of fun. Strong story and cooperative multiplayer are more than worth your attention. [Issue#207]
-
Jul 7, 2011An accustoming gameplay, good graphics and an interesting story deliver a strong RPG system overall with a wide selection of skills, despite some minor flaws.
-
CD-ActionJul 4, 2011New game by Obsidian is a great action RPG but a poor Dungeon Siege. It intrigues you with its story, sucks you in its world and makes you want to cut through consecutive enemy hordes while picking up and trying on a growing number of new enchanted pantaloons. A the same time it's aimed mainly towards console gamers and it's so different from the previous Dungeon Siege games that the title doesn't really fit. [July 2011, p.66]
-
Jun 29, 2011While we won't be seeing Dungeon Siege III on anyone's "Best of the Year" lists, it's still a well-made hack-and-slash game, and one of the better examples of the genre on this generation of consoles.
-
Jun 29, 2011Dungeon Siege III is a game that can't be graded without upsetting some gamers. They have been divided into two camps: the game's followers and opponents, and some examples of really fanatical behavior are peculiar indeed. But when I try to describe Obsidian Entertainment's new game in a calm and cool way, I have to say "at least satisfactory". A very gripping gameplay, arcade style combat, lots of RPG elements and interesting story and characters – these are the things that convinced me.
-
Jun 24, 2011The co-op and multiple story branches are a compelling reason to go back through the story at least one more time and while the sometimes terrible companion AI make single player incredibly frustrating at times, Dungeon Siege 3 does a great job of balancing action and role playing - making it feel like more than just a mindless clickfest.
-
Jun 20, 2011It's a modernised take on dungeon crawling that brings a few new ideas to the series.
-
Jun 17, 2011Dungeon Siege 3 is clearly better than its predecessors and fights are real fights, not just interactive graphicsl demonstrations. The story around Jeyne Kassynder is good entertainment.
-
Jun 17, 2011Dungeon Siege III is a really solid game with motivating gameplay that unfortunately lacks at some points, i.e. the controls on the PC.
-
Game InformerJun 16, 2011I recommend Dungeon Siege III to anyone that wants to connect with friends and kill a whole mess of monsters together. [July 2011, p.84]
-
Jun 18, 2011It may not be the Dungeon Siege you remember, but this stunning, story-driven co-op dungeon crawler is entertaining just the same.
-
Jun 17, 2011Even with all its frustrations and flawed combat, Dungeon Siege 3 is a well-polished game and can be a good action RPG experience; that's assuming you get used to the gameplay mechanics. Somehow, it still feels satisfying.
-
Oct 26, 2011One of the biggest differences in this game is that you exert a lot of control over your main character.
-
Aug 30, 2011Ultimately, Dungeon Siege III is an easy-to-play popcorn journey into the classic action-RPG genre, hitting every checkbox. There is little innovation here, but it offers plenty of examples of how good design and development practices can make a derivative game enjoyable - and how a pretty severely console-designed game can be adjusted to feel largely right on a PC.
-
Jun 16, 2011So what you're essentially paying for in the difference is the graphical polish of the environments, a satisfactory storyline, and clean craftsmanship. If that sounds like a fine deal, then Dungeon Siege III is the right dungeon crawler for you.
-
Jun 27, 2011As a PC gamer you can and should not be fully satisfied with Dungeon Siege III.
-
Jun 17, 2011While Dungeon Siege III doesn't quite measure up to its predecessors, its streamlined approach is a solid and enjoyable Action-RPG.
-
Jun 21, 2011Putting the number three behind the title should mean progression. Unfortunately, this feels more like a transgression.
-
Jul 14, 2011Dungeon Siege 3 is an ambitious game that attempts to change the genre but fails in nailing fundamentals that were perfected over a decade ago.
-
PC PowerPlayJul 10, 2011A satisfying but not stellar action-RPG romp. [Aug 2011, p.67]
-
Jul 7, 2011Dungeon Siege III has achieved the impossible – it has finally infiltrated consoles, which was a good move by itself. Otherwise it is solid action-based fun, even though we cannot get rid of a suspicion that the whole thing could be better. This applies especially to the PC version, which suffers from poor controls and user interface.
-
Jul 7, 2011Dungeon Siege III isn't a bad game but you have to like the genre. If you like to explore a world and love to see your character grow, you will like this game. If you're looking for an RPG, there are better games available.
-
Jun 30, 2011The game doesn't stand out in anything, except in its four-player cooperative mode.
-
PC Games (Russia)Jun 24, 2011Although the series' reincarnation is a clear success, it's a shame that PC version of this Diablo-clone can hardly be played without a gamepad. [July 2011, p.107]
-
Jun 20, 2011Trite as it is and pointless as Obsidian's slavish adherence to some of the old standby systems (like loot and leveling) seems, I genuinely hope it gets another crack at Dungeon Siege. The series has never been particularly memorable, but at least under Obsidian's guidance, it's mostly fun.
-
Jun 18, 2011Dungeon Siege III is a good action RPG if we ignore the fact that it is the continuation of certain video game series. The link with its previous games is only evident in the sense of its atmosphere but it lacks many of the characteristics from other Dungeon Siege games. It's a good option if you enjoy action with a 'co-op' mode with up to 4 friends but do not try to find a successor to Dungeon Siege here.
-
Jun 23, 2011Dungeon Siege 3, just as Obsidian's previous game, Alpha Protocol, is an RPG that adds absolutely nothing to the genre.
-
Jul 11, 2011Co-op issues aside, there's really nothing particularly wrong with Dungeon Siege III. It's an enjoyable, if un-ambitious game. I enjoyed it for what it was, but at the end of the day I left it having wanted it to be more.
-
Jul 8, 2011Dungeon Siege III is a decent game; it just let itself down by not living up to what it could have been and by making some sloppy mistakes and over generalization that took away from any individuality or change in experience from one play through to another.
-
Jun 21, 2011A dungeon crawler with a boring loot table, poorly implemented multiplayer, and little lasting incentive to continue running around the world once the tedious story ends.
-
PC FormatAug 8, 2011A game destined to be forgotten. [Sept 2011, p.98]
-
Jul 25, 2011If you are looking for something to keep you going until Diablo III or Skyrim arrives then Dungeon Siege III might be the RPG filler you are looking for this summer. Personally, I found it an insult to the Dungeon Siege name, lacking any semblance to the previous games in the franchise. Perhaps if they had changed the name they could have avoided comparisons and disappointment, but alas, this is what we got and if you're like me, you probably won't like it.
-
Jun 27, 2011Dungeon Siege III falls victim to its lack of ambition. With a little extra guts, the developers could have installed an engaging narrative, memorable characters and an online component that would prolong the title's life. Instead, what we have is an emotionless, unrewarding journey that shies away from doing anything special.
-
Jun 20, 2011Dungeon Siege III is a fun but unambitious dungeon crawler that fails to live up to the games that came before it.
-
Jun 23, 2011It's not horrible, broken, offensive, unfair or anything like that - it's just completely bland. It doesn't do anything new, and it doesn't excel in anything either. Plus, while the combat is fine, it doesn't offer the fun, blast-through action experience of games such as Torchlight, Diablo or even Titan Quest.
-
Jul 15, 2011An obvious console port, this watered-down action RPG just doesn't feel at home on the PC.
