Dragon's Dogma is an outstandingly specific action RPG, which doesn´t appeal to everyone, but the one who breaks through the hard shell to the core of the game, discovers surprisingly complex experience, which originates mainly from the sophisticated fights.

Despite a tendency to force the player to work through a number of repetitive activities Dragon's Dogma delivers innovative, action-packed boss fights and the occasional twist in the story to keep things interesting. Graphically Dragon's Dogma isn't doing anything special, but for a game originally developed on the previous generation of consoles it delivers a satisfying gameplay experience on the PC.

Capcom has done a solid job bringing a very well-made RPG over to the PC. The game features the massive world of Granys, and is filled with tons of customization options, as well as hundreds of complex and dynamic combat situations. It's really one of the better RPGs we've seen of late, and I only experienced two crashes during my time with the game.

Despite borrowing so much from so many different games Capcom’s Western style role-player is still very much its own game – with plenty of interesting ideas of its own.

Dragon’s Dogma on PC is the usual splendid combat-fest that used to be on console. Too bad that 4 years have passed and the game is technically still the same; which, by today standards, is definitely not a compliment.

Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen for PC is a gem among the RPG genre, despite it being flawed in places.

Despite a ton of annoying drawbacks, Dark Arisen is probably of the few somewhat enjoyable PC ports of a Japanese RPG.

So Dragon's Dogma has worthwhile elements even if it feels dated, and even if I very nearly quit just before hitting the all-important twist that actually made the story worthwhile.

  1. What it offers though is a solid combat system backed up with enough different flavours, little moments of triumph, pats on the head and surprises amongst the very, very quickly familiar terrain to be compelling, like a big bowl of popcorn sprinkled with chocolate. It’s unfortunate that as a hybrid, The Witcher 3 does so much more with a lot of the same elements.

I don't understand why this game gets all this praise.

It reminds me Dynasty Warrior and Dark Souls ports on pc - poorly optimized, shoddy controls, weird voice-overs, awkward gameplay and story.

Quarter of my screen gets cut-off with black bars because of the aspect ration issues. Half of the screen gets filled with subtitles of my "pawns" yelling some nonsense over and over and over and over and over again during battles or giving me same one-liners like "hurry up", or "come here" outside battle.

The control scheme is plain awful on keyboard - backspace to confirm? What? Why?

I mean - i don't doubt that underneath those issues and weird features there might be a decent game but i just don't want to deal with a shoddy pc port again.

I get that people love this game and played it on consoles but as a pc player who's playing this for a first time - i just can't recommend it.

A Japanese Developer nailing a western type Action RPG. It took a while but finally Dragons Dogma is home on the platform it always needed.A Japanese Developer nailing a western type Action RPG. It took a while but finally Dragons Dogma is home on the platform it always needed. Containing possibly the best combat in an action RPG game ever conceived, Dragons Dogma is probably one of my favourite RPG games ever made.

The storyline appears very generic from the outset, but don't let that fool you. Whilst it may not be a Masterwork of literary genius, it definately adds its own unique style to the genre.

Now One of my top 5 games on Steam.

Amazing game, truly one deserving a PC port after the death of the PS3.

Truly sad how "gaming journalism" is giving this masterpiece
Amazing game, truly one deserving a PC port after the death of the PS3.

Truly sad how "gaming journalism" is giving this masterpiece something below 90, with the metacrit at 81, while they've been giving Gone Home and Undertale 100. The dead of the gaming community is here.
