Mar 22, 2024Dragon's Dogma 2 is worth your attention, whether you're an old fan or someone who's never touched Dark Arisen. You just need to be aware that this is a more difficult game, in which it is not possible to reverse your actions and that focuses heavily on exploration and intense battles.
-
Mar 20, 2024The first Dragon's Dogma was already a very unique game in its own right, that sadly did not shine as bright as it should have. With Dragon's Dogma 2, Capcom went above and beyond everything we could have hoped for. From its gigantic and beautifully well crafted open world we excitedly want to explore in its every nook and cranny to its brilliantly epic gameplay and the oh so genius Pawn system, this sequel is a masterpiece that majestically gives justice to that franchise very close to Capcom's heart. An absolute must-have for every fan of open-world RPGs. We'll see your Pawns when you get there, Arisens. T'is a marvelous adventure, indeed !
-
Mar 20, 2024It is the rare case of a game that gets better and better the deeper you get into it. Not only because there are new things to see and do and the hero becomes more and more powerful, but also because you grow as a player.
-
Mar 20, 2024Dragon’s Dogma 2 boldly stands as a giant of the open-world genre that dares to defy existing conventions and expectations. It’s a courageous effort that is as rewarding as it is deep. 80 hours in, I still feel as though I have barely scratched the surface of what’s on offer…Its abrasive player experience demands you abide by its rules of engagement. Comply, and you will be rewarded with one of the most engaging fantasy RPGs ever created. Dragon’s Dogma 2 is a masterpiece. It is an unmissable title that not only asks for your respect, but demands it.
-
Mar 20, 2024Dragon's Dogma 2 is an absolute triumph in nearly every sense of the word. It's a bold and brave leap forward for RPGs, inviting you to come along for an unforgettable journey that will be uniquely yours.
-
Mar 20, 2024Dragon's Dogma 2 is a triumph of a game that wants you to just take your time and see everything you possibly can. You'll be constantly pulled from your path by a new cave, a random quest, a chest one of your Pawns has found, random fights, and it's all part of the experience. I adore this game, and while it has some aspects I think some will find too clunky, it's a masterpiece.
-
Mar 20, 2024A fully realized open-world title with a moderately steep but extremely rewarding learning curve with an execution that ranks it up there with some of gaming's all-time greats.
-
Mar 20, 2024Dragon’s Dogma 2 is wickedly clever, tightly designed, self-aware in all the right ways, and refreshingly unconcerned with whatever the latest trends are. The only game Dragon’s Dogma 2 is really interested in iterating on and answering to is the original Dragon’s Dogma. For fans of that game there’s delightful bonuses, references, and punch-the-air moments, too. But even for newcomers, what should be plain is that Dragon’s Dogma 2 does its own thing - and its own thing is magnificent.
-
Mar 20, 2024Dragon's Dogma 2 is one of the best RPGs of the last decade. Capcom's incredible run has reached unfathomable heights with a game that's destined to be beloved by players and revered by developers in turn. It's a game that refuses to hold your hand, but will give you all the tools to experience an adventure that's one for the ages.
-
Mar 20, 2024After spending over 90 hours in the world of Dragon’s Dogma 2 I find it be a masterful example of how exploration and adventure should feel, offering a vast and immersive world to explore and conquer. With its rich lore, engaging gameplay, and expansive world, this sequel has captivated and immersed me in a world of fantasy and intrigue that only a few cult fans experienced in its predecessor. Whether battling fearsome monsters or unraveling the mysteries of Gransys, I found myself drawn into a journey of epic proportions — one that I expect will leave a lasting impression long after the final credits roll. So gather your party, sharpen your blades, and prepare to embark on the adventure of a lifetime in the world of Dragon’s Dogma 2.
-
Mar 20, 2024Dragon's Dogma 2 is a worthy successor to the phenomenal Dark Arisen. Capcom managed to improve the game on every front while preserving the spirit of a classic fantasy RPG adventure set in a living open world.
-
Apr 5, 2024Dragon’s Dogma 2 is a controversial game, and it is truly not for everyone. On the other hand, it is so revolutionary compared to its predecessor, especially in this day and age, that it would be an easy GOTY contender if CAPCOM just showed a bit more leniency and knowledge of its audience. Unnecessary microtransactions and despicable optimization followed by few weird design choices hinders this release, that below all of the fuzz and stupidity hides a masterfully crafted world, with a fine narrative and remarkable combat that is unique and interesting with every step of its long journey.
-
Mar 20, 2024Despite some annoying technical issues, Dragon’s Dogma 2 is an absolute feast of an RPG. It’s cliche to say, but it genuinely feels like there is something to discover at every corner. There’s a variety of ways to build your character and party, and the Pawn system feels like it should be the standard for similar games moving forward. Capcom has once again shown a deep understanding of why its games resonate so well with people, and Dragon’s Dogma 2 is one we’ll be talking about for years to come.
-
Mar 20, 2024It's not often that a cult classic gets the green light for a sequel, especially 12 years after the original game was released. Capcom hasn't tried to make Dragon's Dogma 2 more palatable to potentially attract a wider audience, either. It stuck to the first game's core values and expanded upon them to create a bigger and better game that consistently delights in its approach to seamless exploration and the thrill of adventure. This means it feels very familiar in a lot of ways, but it's a game for those who fell in love with the original, despite its flaws, and will hopefully find an entirely new audience who perhaps never gave the first game a chance. Even after 40 hours, my heart continues to grow fonder for this special game. It's an exceptional achievement that's quite unlike anything else, and I wouldn't hesitate to place it amongst the pantheon of Capcom's very best.
-
Mar 20, 2024Though PC players may face some optimization issues, Dragon’s Dogma 2 impresses with stellar monster-slaying action, incredible immersion, and satisfying adventures with NPCs you can’t help but call your friends. You’re sure to get sucked into the world with an incredible character of your own making as you claim your throne and face off against the intimidating beasts of Dragon’s Dogma 2.
-
Mar 20, 2024Dragon's Dogma 2 is a beautiful adventure that has its own peculiarities that you have to get used to, and in which your own stories are often more interesting than the pre-written ones. Above all, it's one that's so incredibly entertaining that we won't be able to put it down any time soon.
-
Mar 20, 2024Dragon's Dogma 2 is an extremely engaging open world action game, featuring a combat system that is practically flawless and a huge map full of secrets to explore. It follows a philosophy of its own and for this it deserves to be rewarded, but the optimization problems that afflict the PC version tested during the review do not allow it to achieve excellence, at least for the moment.
-
Mar 20, 2024After a whirlwind 40 hours with Dragon's Dogma 2, it is clear that Capcom has created a flawed masterpiece that might not be for everyone. However, for those that this game speaks to, they will love it to pieces. So, in a way, it is the perfect sequel to Dragon's Dogma. From its unique twist on the RPG party system to its laissez-faire gameplay mechanics that reward players who are willing to think outside the box and dig into every corner of the game, there is nothing quite like Dragon's Dogma 2, and there probably won't be for a long time.
-
Mar 20, 2024Dragon’s Dogma 2 is a fantastic video game. It improves on every facet of the first title. An excellent main quest is paired with Capcom’s best English VO, and some incredible emergent combat.
-
Mar 20, 2024Dragon's Dogma 2 feels vast in a way that no other game has in a very long time. It reminds me of the best of the original Dragon's Dogma, with traces of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind weaved into it.
-
Mar 20, 2024A magnificent adventure with impressive fights and some very rough edges.
-
Mar 20, 2024Dragon's Dogma 2 is, in one word: unique. Bold choices offer both pleasure and frustration, which are balanced by excellent combat.
-
Apr 15, 2024What Dragon’s Dogma 2 does well is the wonder of exploration and adventure. The world is beautiful, the Vocations are flashy, and the fights are bombastic. A hearty recommendation for old hats and fresh faces alike!
-
Apr 3, 2024Dragon’s Dogma 2 is as much of an odd RPG as its predecessor and makes little to no concessions, leveraging its many strengths and unique traits to make up for the half-baked bits.
-
Mar 26, 2024It is true that an immersive world and unique game mechanics create distinct enjoyment. However, these same aspects also bring several issues. While the game is excellent, certain external factors need to be addressed for improvement.
-
Mar 22, 2024Dragon's Dogma 2 might divide opinions, but its originality and dedication are captivating for those who get into it. Its open world, where you walk with talking pawns guiding you, offers a unique sense of being there. These features and the detailed map encourage you to make your own fantasy tale. Combat is key to the adventure, with many job options making fights diverse from beginning to end.
-
Mar 21, 2024Dragon's Dogma 2 is an incredible fantasy RPG that immerses you into a living and breathing world full of memorable NPCs and terrifying monsters. It often starts to feel old-fashioned in its gameplay design, but you can find the charm in it after many hours of gameplay.
-
Mar 20, 2024Dragon's Dogma 2 is a title that thrives on exaggerations, to be tackled slowly with curiosity and a spirit of adventure. If you decide to accept the rules, the fantasy world created by Itsuno will give you a truly satisfying combat system, extremely creative and full of epic moments. The non-linear quests and an extremely dense map are elements that could have led Capcom's title towards heights of absolute excellence, however the ascent was slowed down by artificial intelligence that was not always performing, some small problems with the balance between classes and some too much cumbersomeness. The latest arrival from Capcom still remains a very high level product: the important thing is to know that it is not suitable for every type of user.
-
Mar 20, 2024Medieval fantasy playground with fantastic battles, high replay value and creative minion AI. Just don't expect a story masterpiece!
-
Apr 9, 2024A very fun game but with various idiosyncrasies and also performance issues. Fans of the first game should definitely buy it, others might want to think about it a bit more.
-
Apr 5, 2024Dragon’s Dogma 2's commitment to unscripted monster hunts, visceral combat, and interlinked systems guarantees a story lurking around every corner. By trading modern guardrails for know-it-all handmade companions, it entrusts you with the 'venture' in action-adventure. But weak quests and animation jitters hold it back from excellence.
-
Mar 20, 2024Dragon’s Dogma 2 builds upon the gameplay and themes of the original to create a sprawling, open-world RPG packed with thrilling combat and captivating exploration.
-
Mar 20, 2024Dragon’s Dogma 2 is a title with a unique and interesting proposition, but which is not intended for everyone. By putting player autonomy at the heart of the experience, Capcom's game offers a feeling of freedom and a pleasure of exploration enhanced by brilliant gameplay and a pawn system that is still fascinating. But this immersion at all costs gives rise to uncomfortable, but voluntary, design choices in order to make this adventure credible. However, the experience still suffers from certain real flaws, such as its overly classic and not always clear quests, its sometimes messy combat and especially its numerous slowdowns on console. In short, Dragon's Dogma will delight those who play the game with its unique and uncompromising proposition, surely leaving aside those too accustomed to the comfort of modern games.
-
Mar 20, 2024Arisen is back with a unique escort. The continuation of the interesting RPG once again relied on intelligent companions who stand by your side. And they are still great. However, some other aspects of the game could have been better.
-
Mar 20, 2024This review may read quite negatively, but it's only because of the lofty expectations that surrounded Dragon's Dogma 2. The original game was an amazing foundation to build upon, and yet CAPCOM seemed content with keeping the same strengths without improving much on the weaknesses. Twelve years later, though, the effect cannot be the same. Still, make no mistake: Dragon's Dogma 2 is a highly enjoyable fantasy action/adventure with RPG elements that will provide you with about 40 hours of pure fun. Its peerless sense of exploration, meaty combat system, and stunning visuals will motivate you throughout the entire playthrough. Just don't expect to find a fantasy world simulator or, indeed, a narrative worth remembering.
-
Mar 20, 2024Dragon’s Dogma 2 is majestic, marvelous and magnificent. It’s an experience that’s like no other that will have you immersed for every second of play. Unfortunately, there are certain elements that hold it back from greatness.
-
Mar 20, 2024Dragon's Dogma 2 is a game of contrasts, excelling in certain areas such as combat and exploration, while blatantly neglecting other aspects usually found in modern games, such as playability and narrative. It offers a grand adventure rich in epic confrontations, but in the old-fashioned, no-frills way, with all the satisfaction and frustration that can entail. It's definitely not for everyone, but that's probably just as well.

Mar 20, 2024"Finding a way" sums up Dragon's Dogma 2 pretty nicely, I think. The game's an anecdote generator, where all of its AI and combat and day-night-cycle systems coalesce into bouts of chaos that'll test your improvisation skills but never your patience. And while it retains some of the original game's aged quest design and open world repetition, they simply aren't a problem at all, because the act of discovery is just so, so involved.
-
Mar 26, 2024It’s an exquisitely imperfect trinity of emergent narrative, ambient multiplayer, and the eternal adage of shit happens — and sometimes that’s all you need from three weird little guys for an incredible adventure.
-
Mar 20, 2024While I need more time to see the story to its conclusion and explore more of the vocations and world, Dragon's Dogma 2 is an uncompromised Dragon's Dogma experience that basically does everything I liked in the original better. It is an incredible RPG, but one that isn't without its flaws. I kept thinking to myself how this is a game that I can't believe exists, but here we are. Kudos to Capcom for greenlighting this and I really wish there was a big box PC release for it with a cloth map and artbook. It is that kind of game. In its current state though, I don't recommend playing Dragon's Dogma 2 on Steam Deck. Grab it on PS5 or Xbox Series X if you have those options available. [Review in Progress]
