    The story is good.

I had to restart several fights due to poor AI. There are ways to automate your NPC allies but they often end up getting into trouble, so many times it is best to micromanage them by pausing and giving individual commands. It is frustrating and requires adjusting how you play.

There are several bugs. One bug is on a spell intended to deplete enemy mages' mana. However, it actually replenishes their mana, essentially making the spell worthless. There are a few quest bugs which may force you to reload a previous save or find a solution online.

Awakenings is the best DLC, others are just okay.

Bought ultimate edition (includes all DLC) for $7.50, played 114 hours, great replay value.

    Tier 2
+ Engaging story that covers a lot of interesting characters and plot arcs
+ One of the best casts of companion characters in gaming
+ Cool class and RPG system that borrows from the classics while introducing some unique perspectives
? A somewhat sporadic overall plot that becomes fairly generic in the end
    - Slow and/or stilted pacing throughout the game, rough around the edges

This is IMO one of the best classic RPGs to play today. I am NO good at the type of action mechanics and team building (FPS is what I mainly play). But the story is and universe is such a fantastic aspect that pushed me through to keep playing and learning.

So if you tried witcher and didnt like it doesnt mean this wont be your thing its not the same game.

To me this game was the complete and utter opposite instant interest day 1 and deep love by day 2 and it never dropped of top10 greatest game list after done its just wonderful.

Played baldurs gate and felt ever since that there just wasnt a equal, to me this is better.
You have a tactical combat thats challenging, you have interesting character builds, and your companions are likely the stars of the show you never thought would be relevant.
The world building is also slightly fresh, its epic fantasy with evil is on the rise and save the world but the humans are kinda grey and plenty of selfish people just trying to make a buck or summon a demon to get better luck while gambling kind of world.

You start off with your main character then can find and recruit a large number of characters and these are most consider the stars of this game.
Most other games these are never really fleshed out they are just mechanically needed to make the combat more complex, your companions are interesting riddles you can plumb and you get small bonuses for doing so didnt think it sounded at all interesting when i read about it but it actually changed the game for better and its to large extent optional you can ignore several if they arnt interesting to you.

Лучшая игра всех времён и народов, после Fallout 2 и Baldur`s Gate 2.
Была бы боёвка более тактической, а некоторые моменты чуть менее затянутые - был бы абсолютным шедевром на уровне первых двух игр.

This game starts out with letting you customize your character and choosing your class.
All of your choices here will determine the origins story you are given.
There’s potentially 6 different stories to be told in this game…
I played the console version of this game, so it’s much more action oriented than strategy based.
You can journey with 4 allies at a time to help you fight enemies and you can gain new allies along your journey,
How you treat your allies and the people in the world around you will determine if they turn their back on you or help you with your cause.
Your allies do a fairly decent job at holding their own... they only got stuck one time in my entire playthrough.
You can equip gear you find on them much like a JRPG, there is tons of micro managing your ally’s skills as well as yours,
Dragon Age Origins is lengthy, but not lengthy because there is so much great content to experience...
The game is long just for the sake of being long... it accomplishes nothing in dragging the story on forever and makes you do more than you should really have to…
The entire game feels like one giant goose chase.
After your origins story the map opens up and you can freely clear it in any order you choose,
The incentive to doing so is there is a blight... demons… an army... you need allies, so you set out into the vast sections to gain those allies...
Each section of the map could literally be their own game… and not necessarily in a good way.
They all have their own self-contained stories that link to the overarching story, but every single one of them follow the formula of the main story, which is you think you’re done but you’re not
you get to whoever you’re looking for but they need you to do this before they’ll help you but when you get there to do what they need there’s someone there that needs you to help them before they can help you help the person that you need to help before they’ll help you..
Its overwhelming and ultimately makes the game feel like it drags on forever
and quite frankly it does... you never feel like you are making any true progress…
It took me 10 hours of playing before the game got even a little bit interesting to me.
There are some really cool sections to this game, again they all feel like they could be their own game...
It’s crazy to look back when you’re near the end and think of the journey you’ve been on and how it was indeed part of this game and not some game you played years ago even though it feels like it.
There’s mages, demons, going through the fade and shape shifting, hunting werewolves down in the forest, going underground to search for a mighty anvil
There is so much to experience.
While Dragon Age’s game world is vast and deep, I found the gameplay and journey to be shallow and tedious.
Due to the delivery of the story, and the constant webbing of story lines I found Dragon Age Origins to eventually feel more like a chore than a game,
After about 30 hours in I was begging for the game to be over, to get to the point, but instead it drug me down another 20 hours of rabbit holes.
If the rabbit holes don’t make the game feel tedious enough, it also does a horrible job at quest progression in general...
You rarely know where you’re supposed to go,
The marker for the quest you’re on only appears when you’re close to the desired location…
and by close, I mean practically on top of it…
Which will lead you right to google to figure out where this person lives since who’s going to really memorize the locations of these people by name?
    I’m not
There’s a Lot to do in Dragon Age Origins, so I can definitely see why people love this game so much…
Even I appreciate the game for what it has going on...
There was just ultimately nothing here to hook me in...
If I didn’t feel obligated to make it to the credits, I definitely wouldn’t have
    I give Dragon Age Origins a 7.5/10

If you play this game, go as slow as you possibly can, take your time, listen to all the dialogue and read all the codex. I recommend either the human noble origin or the human mage origin. If you play a mage, make sure you decide what fraternity ideals you think your mage should follow. Decide whether the character you role play believes in the maker or not

The music in this game comes from the heart, there are some moments where you'll just sit back, sip on some wine and just get immersed.

Dragon Age Origins is perfection, so naturally Bioware and the entire industry have stopped making games like this.

The combat, while not tactical in the extreme, is a great challenge.
I played this game on consoles first, and while that's fun, the PC combat is far and away superior.
The ability to pause the action and set certain attack patterns is a lot of fun. It's a joy to plan out boss battles in particular, in terms of party selected to fight, AOE affects used etc. It's a joy because while it's reasonably challenging, it's also very much accessible. Bioware struck the right balance.

It's just a shame that the two sequels chose to ignore all the positive points about Origins really.

Like Mass effect 2, this could one of bioware's best games that they have made. After the release of Baldur's gate, I found Dragon Age Origins to be a huge improvement over both Baldur's Gate.

I found the entire story to be intriguing and the amount of choices you makes this game feel like a better rpg than Bioware's "Mass Effect". And also unlike Mass effect, you don't get a paragon/renegade dialogue option but more like a "fallout" dialogue option which makes the player feel more open to more dialogue options than just "good and bad" options. Also another thing that was interesting was the approval and disapproval rating, everything you do affects your companions and it can either result in your companion disapproving/approving your decisions and in the long term in can result in a companion leaving if the approval rating is down or even a love interest. And you also take on a few companion missions, which aren't very good. (mass effect 2 fixes this problem.)

But I find the combat DoD system to be outdated, I was really expecting a hack and slash kinda gameplay but the DoD tackles the combat in a different and strategic way. The skills tree isn't very helpful and limited to customization same with the entire leveling up system, it feels to inconsistent which at times it ranks me up too fast or too slow.

But also a huge problem is the PC optimization. it's horrible due to the memory leak so I found myself restarting a game a whole bunch of times and I was angry at this. But in overall content I was very surprised. Dragon Age Origins main campaign left me playing around 48 hours and it's not even 80% completed and with the main campaign DLC completed. The awakening expansion is a very nice expansion which clocks in around 12 hours, it's a fair amount of time to complete but I found it to be short at times and rushed as well. The other DLC (Witch hunt, GoA, DSC, and Leliana's song) are okay but the only ones I recommend is Witch Hunt, leliana's song (because of companion reasons.) and GoA (for leveling up your gray warden) But I would skip buying GoA, and DSC it was lacking detail and in the end... I don't care about it anyways.

So all in all, get this game, It was exciting to play and I was very happy with the overall content and this is a much better RPG than Mass effect. I would buy the Ultimate edition if I had to, to play DA:O and Awakening again.

Other than that, the graphics were not bad at all despite the numerous criticism it has gotten on Amazon. The characters look well-modelled at least, the colours are atmospheric and help make the world and adventure believable and the voices do sync well with the lip movements. The music has moments where it is rousing and others where it's eloquent, overall it's well written and synchronises with everything with never a jarring note. The story is rich in detail and characterisation, totally immersive in its blend of fantasy, adventure and action and you are genuinely transported into the world the characters inhabit. The game play is varied and not overly-simplistic or overly-complex(even if at times Alistair was perhaps too easy to kill, but really that's part of the fun). What was also impressive was the balance of game play and story, they added so much to one another and there wasn't a time where there was too much or little of one. The writing and the voice acting stood out the most. The writing is incredibly intelligent and thought-provoking with some well-judged light-hearted humour for contrast, doing wonderfully in giving the characters distinctive personalities and emotional impact. The character interaction is strong and never stiff. And the voice work adds so much to those qualities, everybody is wonderful and nobody bad but in particular Kate Mulgrew is quietly firm and authoritative and Tim Curry has that subtle smarmy malevolence spot-on. All in all, an outstanding game. 10/10 Bethany Cox Expand

    The Pros
*The writing in this game made up for the if-ing gameplay ( but that later). The lore for this game is pretty extensive as well
*I loved the companions that joined me in this game. They certainly went to a lot of work on each companion.
*Great Character Customization/ Awesome Origin Stories
    The Cons:
*The combat/gameplay a bit of a mess ( but one will get use to it after a while)
    The Meh:
*The Graphics dose look a bit out of dated but still not too bad once you get use to it

So i would say that this game is on my top five favorites (rpg) games next to Skyrim. Would give this a game a 9 out of ten

The world that the game puts you in is very well crafted, the characters seem very real and there are many decisions to chose from. A fine example of what a GOOD fantasy RPG looks like (coughs in The Witcher's general direction) Granted some of it's visuals are a bit dated (natural terrain is a bit funky looking, the head pieces are abhorrent and Light/Medium armor classes share the same one model for chest, feet and hand armor) I feel like it works for it.

Gameplay wise, it feels vaguely like an MMO with an action bar of abilities you can use or toggle in some cases, with three different areas to invest in; Attributes (Strength, Dexterity, Charisma, et cetera) which govern your stats, Skills (things like the ability to coerce/persuade people, herbalism) that you can sink 1 point into every 3 levels (2 if you're a rogue) and Abilites which is analogous to the Talent Trees from other games. Special mention to the ability trees, too. They're so heinously varied you can have one of your mages spitting fire and healing one minute, and turned into a giant **** spider the next to maul enemies with. The soundtrack is also stellar, and perfectly fits the game and the world you're in. Make sure you recruit Leliana and listen to her sing near the end of the game, you will not regret it.

The biggest issue I take with it is it's very slow and sometimes clunky, and it's also a little too indepth for me, with the fact that your attribute allocation (and skills in some cases) determine what abilities you can learn down the road with no opportunity to respec without install mods, reminding very heavily of the older breed of RPG that I never cared for (Neverwinter Nights, that sort of thing)

It also holds the very rare achievement of actually making me care about the characters and what happens in the world.

Dragon Age: Origins is a fantastic game. The graphics looked dated even then, and bugs remain, but the experience is one you won't forget. The world is beautifully fleshed out, and you'll obsessively check your codex for new lore. I can still tell you verbatim about every single small decision I made despite finishing the game a long time ago. The companions, especially Alistair and Morrigan, have wonderful backstories and react dynamically to your choices. The biggest drawback, in my opinion, is the fact that BioWare did not capitalize on the potential of their living, breathing world and instead went for a conventional story with a mighty monster and a destined hero. Take nothing away from my gripe, however. DA:O is a masterpiece. Expand

Absolutely adore this game. Sadly can never really play it anymore after how bad Inquisition was, but I've played it 10+ times, and it brings fond memories.

    Pros

+ ORIGINS. City elf, Dwarf noble, and mage are the best
    .
+ Multiple dialogue options and unvoiced. Makes it more tailored to you.

+ Companions are far better than the most of the ones in the sequels. Even Leliana and Wynne, who are the most boring companions in-game.

+++ Best companions are Loghain and Sten. Mary Kirby did a great job.

+ Romances do not feel forced or are written for fanservice.

+ Some of the choices in the game are great and often overlooked. Choices like fail to save Irving , double crossing Bhelen, or personally killing Jowan are special ESPECIALLY if they're related to your origin.

+Combat is good. Not the most fun or the best (D:OS takes that), but it’s better than its sequels.

+ With mods, the characters you can still make characters look better than in Inquisition.

+ Music is great. There is a certain magic to it, that is enhanced by certain moments in the campaign.

+ Just a really amazing finale that grabs you, yet is different, each time you play it.

    CONS

-Almost every plot revolves around blood magic. Always.

    - For some reason non-Warden companions don't get the taint.

    - Combat animations are SLOW. This however can be solved by casting haste.

    - There are still bugs that even mods don’t fix because they’re so niche that not many people experience them!
IE, if you personally executed Jowan, he will resurrect and receive a 2nd sentence once you’ve revived the arl.

-Art design is okay. Not my taste. Then again, DA:O was based on Baldur’s Gate. Use armor mods and ENBs if you’re nitpicky like me.

-Dungeons for some quests can get pretty long. Perhaps too long. But you do feel more triumphant at the end of the game.

Overall, still DA:O is a great modern RPG and very enjoyable. Witcher 2 and F:NV had better premises, but with the multiple origins, dialogue options you can choose that is really easy to forget that and enjoy it was a roleplaying experience.

It’s much like VTMB, in this regard, but with added companions as a plus.

PLAY as a Warden who doesn't make all the right choices and sometimes fails.. You will get a lot more out of your roleplaying experience and enjoy it more. Also be prepared to bring a lot of Kleenex.

A grade game, through and through.

Replace Darkspawns with evil Orcs, and Archdemon with Sauron... But that is not a turn off at all...)

The tactical gameplay is very fun, the player is at the center of the story line and the many dialogues make you actually care about the other characters and NPCs. There are several important choices that significantly change the story line. I am curious to know what's Bioware's canon for this game. Last but not least, this Ultimate Edition has all the DLCs and I really enjoyed most of them (Awakening is a respectable +20 hours campaign).

I will definitely miss the epic tale of my Grey Warden but I am also looking forward to discover the story of Hawke and the Inquisitor (DA2 & 3)! I wish they were available on Steam, but hey, you can't have everything, haha!

It also has a lot of interesting and complex characters that join your party, though some are much more interesting than others.

I felt connected to the world and characters and took time to read every bit of lore and hear every story that I could. It had a very familiar approach to its world compared to many other western RPG’s but it’s very unique at the same time.

The combat is also very fun in my opinion, though it’s not for everyone. I love strategy games and love the strategic approach this game has to combat. The only major complain I have in that area are the bosses. They are usually not harder they just take longer to kill, which is not much of a challenge, just time consuming.

This game also offers a lot of content. There is a lot of quests to do and due to the fact that you make choices throughout the game it also offers a great deal of replayability.

It simply put is a fun and interesting world with a great story and a lot of good content. An amazing game in my opinion!

Very interesting system of abilities and skills.
    ...
But on the other hand, the game has some very bad qualities: It’s just disgusting physics of damage (you can run away from the enemy’s kick to the other end of the corridor, but if he starts to bring a sword over his head, you will get that damn damage from him). It is disgusting and very enraging when you are obliged to take damage stupidly because of the curvature of the game... This game is a bum. It doesn’t matter whom you killed, a boss, a super-boss, an important character, or opened a super secret chest - there will be a couple of coins and some trash. The entire game, except for the add-ons, infuriated the extremely meager loot of the game. You can even walk around with some ultra puzzle(go on one rnd of location do something -> go to another end of location -> go...) and in the end of that quest recieve just one damn ring with useless one characteristicks. What?!
But most of all... the most disgusting for me was the bug in the "Awakening" when all the things of my main character were gone. Just gone! After so many years, when there are so many text about so many bugs, and some severe bugs, they didn't fix it at all, but gave more new games. WTF?

Every person has a special game in their heart, that changed their whole life. A game that you want to play for the rest of your life. A game that you want to learn every aspect of its lore. For many of people, that game is a Baldur's Gate game, an Elder Scrolls game, or a The Witcher game. For me, that game is Dragon Age: Origins.

This game is the best RPG game I've ever played. Not because it has some deep combat mechanics or something, but because this game had a soul.

Today, even newer Assassin's Creed games are considered as "RPG." But they're not. This is what a true RPG is. Every choice you make somehow affects the world. You feel like you can change everything in the game. It's been 11 years since the game released, but people still discover new things about it.

    Story

Story is a simple story that you can expect from a BioWare game. You're the last person of a faction called Grey Wardens, heroes that sacrifice themselves against the greater evil. You need to stop the darkspawn that wants to conquer the Ferelden, and eventually, the whole world. There's nothing special about the story. Except, it feels special. There are many divided storylines throughout the game and every one of them is perfectly written. Not just they're perfectly written, you can change every aspect of that storylines. You ever played a RPG game and said "Hey, my character would say xxx, why there are no dialogue options for that?" Well, you won't say that in Dragon Age: Origins. You didn't like the quest that involves you to kill some werewolves? Go side with werewolves and kill the quest givers. You don't want to kill either side? Make them make peace with each other. Or just go and kill werewolves. Game offers every option for you.

    Characters

This is, I think, the strongest aspect of the Dragon Age: Origins. You venture many adventures with couple of companions of your choice. There are 8 (+1 secret companion) possible companions in the base game, (in which, you can romance with four of them) and they're all unique characters. They all have perfectly written backstories with personal companion quests. You can talk many things with them. Not some boring dialogues like many other RPG's has, they're really well-written and you wish to talk to them more. You feel bad when they're upset. You feel good when they're happy. You give them gifts to make them happy. They really became your family.

    Gameplay

If you're into real time combat games like Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale or Planescape: Torment, you will like the gameplay of this game. There's a deep tactical screen that allow you to make many tactics for you and your companions. This game is very hard, (even on the easy difficulty) if you don't play smartly. You must think wisely to choose from many classes and specializations to create a synergistic team. And it is so satisfying when you see the tactics you spend so many time to prepare perform perfectly.

Only negative thing about the gameplay is probably the variety of enemy types. Halfway in the game, you see nearly all the enemy types, and you fight with them rest of the game.

    Setting

Dragon Age takes place in a dark, gloomy, grim, high-fantasy world. I know I've used the words "well-written" or "perfectly-written" so much, but there're no other words to describe this beautiful setting. You can easily tell that developers are building this world for many years to make one of the most detailed lore of video game history. Pages of codex, lore, history... You're not obligatory to read them as the game tells everything in dialogues, but they sure does add a flavor to game.

    Soundtrack

There's nothing to say about it. Inon Zur is always killing it. Still listening the OST, even to this day.

Overall, as the BioWare says, this is the perfect successor of the Baldur's Gate series. 10/10.

This being said, just pick your favourite class, choose a background and go kill some darkspawns, making the plot evolve in the way you are most comfy through lots of different dialogue lines that can change the route you are traveling.

Well, it also has good battle system, big lore and a lot of twists.

This game has wonderful plot, perhaps, one of the best in the fantasy games, amazing characters( especially companions) and side quests.

Is not it all that good RPG needs?

Well, it also has good battle system, big lore and a lot of twists.

So, surely this game is easily 10/10

The only disadvantage is, as for me, ending. There could be much better and more ending, but well, it is good enough.

One of the first Bioware games I sunk my teeth into. This is still to this date one of the biggest time sinks I've put into a game. 4 play throughs all unique and all came out with very different endings. The dialogue felt meaningful all the way through. You know the story is good when you're more excited about the scenes in between combat than the actual combat. You will need to do a lot of reading as your character doesn't speak so just a heads up. However you won't be dissapointed. I would highly recommend a play through as a mage as the circle of magi storyline is one of the most memorable. Its ability to transport you into its world is second to none.
    Gameplay: 2.5/3
Remembering this game was first released in 2009 so the combat is very dated however going on my experience with the game I quite enjoyed matching up combos with my party. The party system felt nice and clean and the synergy between your party was noticeable if you had a elf and a dwarf in the same party, they would not get along and you would have to work around certain situations. Small detail, but sometimes they are just as important. The mage felt the most fun to play. The melee classes left a little to be desired as thr clunkiness became apparent however remembering if you go and play this game today, you will definately not enjoy the combat. Great customization, and lots of collectables to help flesh out the lore outside of dialogue.
    Sound: 2/2
Meaty sword sounds, and bludgeoning of maces. Bow slings and fantastic sounds of horns and drums in battle. Voice acting is fantastic aswell.
    Art Design 2/2
For the time this game was fantastic. Blood splatters after battle, plenty of diverse locations and they nail the medieval landscape and battlefields.

For those who like a good story, and aren't afraid to do a lot of reading, the payout of this game is huge. Over 100 hours of game play. With so many play throughs. 9.5/10

Awesome story, deep lore, long and complex dialogues, unqiue companions with their own unqiue identity (personal quests, gifts, original reactions to events and so on), epic battles, great music, very good romances. Don't know what to NOT love in this game. If I had to find a dark spot on the sun, I'd say that inventory was to small.

Dragon Age: Origins is a classic fantasy RPG game released in 2009. The game is set in Thedas, a fantasy world created for this game. When you are creating a brand new fictional world, there is always this alchemical aspect, the IT factor, or whatever you want to call it. in short, no matter how good your ideas and writers are, there is always a chance it will fail for no good reason.Dragon Age: Origins is a classic fantasy RPG game released in 2009. When you are creating a brand new fictional world, there is always this alchemical aspect, the IT factor, or whatever you want to call it. in short, no matter how good your ideas and writers are, there is always a chance it will fail for no good reason. Dragon Age: Origins has IT without any doubt. The world is just so intriguing from the very start. It deals with all the common fantasy concepts: magic, monsters, dragons, medievalesque setup, etc. But DA:O deals with them brilliantly. It is hard to describe how exactly it is different from other fantasy worlds. It goes deep, it considers all choices, all possibilities, just like nature, just like life. I just love it. The story itself is very good, deals with a classic end of the world scenario that you are supposed to prevent. But the true brilliance of this game lies naturally in the companion system. The interactions with your companions, their personal quests, the banter, all this builds a very strong feeling of real friendship between you and your companions. The graphics is atmospheric, pretty for a 2009 game and you can of course enhance it with various mods and bring it up to date. The game font is very nice and suits the game well. Music is also fantastic, not too intrusive, but certainly noteworthy. Another amazing thing about this game is the range of choices and important decisions you can make. You can play as a saint or as a murderer and slaver, it is entirely up to you. And you can be sure that the consequences of your choices are going to be felt. The developers were very bold with this game and I have nothing but respect for them. The ingame codex is thorough and I wholeheartedly recommend reading everything. I do not usually play most games on the highest difficulty, but here it just seems best to me, the nightmare difficulty is very hard in the beginning. but it gets gradually easier, as with most other RPGs, if you make sensible talent and skillpoint choices. And what negative can I say about this masterpiece? Not much. Maybe a bit more buggy than you would like, even today, but with the sheer amount of choices you can make, it is hardly surprising. This game contains some microtransactions in the form of some Horse Armor type DLCs, but nothing major. No SJW politics either.

DLCs: I like almost all the DLCs. The only downside, as usual, is the steep price to gameplay time ratio.

Awakening - A full scale expansion. I covered that in its own review.

Warden's Keep - Nice dark little DLC, which gives you a bit more information about the Grey Wardens.

The Stone Prisoner - Overpriced DLC, which adds a single companion. Not my favorite by any means.

Return to Ostagar - Title says it all. Ideally played early in a playthrough with Alistair.

Darkspawn Chronicles - Unorthodox standalone DLC, where you play for the darkspawn. Nice idea, but the gameplay is not much fun.

Leliana's Song - Standalone DLC, can be played before the main game and can serve as sort of a tutorial. Very cool story.

The Golems of Amgarrak - Nice little standalone deep roads / dwarven DLC. Contains some of the toughest fights in the entire game. I recommend bringing a well equipped hero.

Witch Hunt - Standalone DLC, which follows the story of Morrigan after the main game. I usually play it last.

I am really trying to reserve the 10/10 score for the absolutely best games, that excel in every way and I cannot stop replaying them over and over. Dragon Age: Origins is such a game without any doubt. Final Verdict: 96 %

Dragon Age Origins is a great game marred by bugs that can corrupt your game saves. I give the game itself 10/10, but I'm deducting two points for the fact that I had to start over due to a corrupt save game file.

Story: I love the story. It's a great, traditional heroic fantasy story that can have a slightly different flavor based on what race and class of character you choose.

Setting: Nice take on traditional fantasy. It feels familiar and fresh at the same time.

Game mechanics: I liked them once I got used to them, but that took some practice. You absolutely need to micromanage your allies, because they are dumb as tree stumps and will make the worst possible decision at all times. That said, the controls they give you to manage the party are quite good and fun. In the end, I would prefer to micromange my party if the mechanics are good and not annoying, and Dragon Age: Origins succeeds here.

    Complaints:

Complaint #1: Bugs. As I mentioned above, my save game file got corrupted and I had to start over. I highly recommend you use the community patch AND Game Save Manager to protect your save game files. I chalk this up to EA being too greedy to fix common game breaking bugs.

Complaint #2: Build consistency. All builds in this game are DEFINITELY not equal, and it's very easy to create a sub-optimal character through no fault of your own. I'm ok with sub-optimal, but you can REALLY ruin your game by doing nothing more than creating the character you want to play.

Complaint #3: Difficulty spikes. Until you "git gud," the game will throw a few super harsh difficulty spikes at you, sometimes requiring you to find cheap tactics online.

Dragon age 1 is maybe the rpg i've enjoyed the most! (in top 10 with mass effect 1-3, Oblivion, Divinity 2, kotor 1-2 and fallout: new vegas). It has a lot of replay value. Every class and race has a unique story with unique events in the game, and you are likely to discover new things when you replay. If like rpgs and is a completist sort of gamer then this is 100% for you

Not to say that Inquisition is a bad game on its own, but the lack of the real dark fantasy feel, impactful quests and interesting interactions hurt it so much that it more closely resembles an mmorpg game rather than Origins. I love this 2000-2010 bioware quality, this is one hell of a game. You notice from the very start that it is not your 10th assassin creed but an epic adventure. It is similar to mass effect how it is written and designed - I very much appreciate it. I will however not give the full 10 because I think the romance options are somewhat flat and the fact that your hero is not

The game left a lasting impression. The first time I played it, I couldn't tear myself away. Everything is good in it: a well-thought-out plot, musical accompaniment, convenient, in my opinion, gameplay. Even after so many years, I still want to go through it again.

The best rpg game I ever played. The world and story are rich and interesting. Characters are well crafted, dialogues are realistic and meaningful and affect the storyline. When you play you keep thinking how sad it will be once the game ends. And it is. Haven't found anything comparable yet despite this game being somewhat old already.

  1. If you're into rpgs, or rather if you love roleplaying in general, there's really no need to waste time reading any reviews of this game. The same goes if you regard games like Planescape: Torment, Fallout 2 and the Baldurs Gate-series among the best computer games ever made. Because this game is everything a person like you look for in a game, and so much more. Be aware though, Dragon Age: Origins is not a revolution of the genre, rather it is an evolution, where Bioware has refined everything that made them into a formula as close to perfection as possible. Without a doubt one of the strongest Game of the year-candidates so far this year and a game we will remember with warm feelings many years to come.
