    Fantastic Game 10/10. Great times shared with players and friends where every game is different-better or for worst yet still leaves a great memory. Cannot say how much I enjoy this game!

    Well, I must be honest. I think it's very childish to abuse metacritic just because you guys are angry for the event. But, I admit that this is a community reaction and the community had a big part to make DOTA2 such an awesome game.

    Best MOBA is DoTA MOBA. The biggest problem with Dota 2 is the not showing of skill progress. I have no idea where I rank and if I am getting better or worse.

    This is literally the worst game I have ever played in my entire life, The developers are lazy and don't care about the people who play this game at all but would rather make millions off of cosmetics and hats instead.

    Is a good game on every level BUT is stupidly build around and infinite number of entry barriers for new players. Learn to play is sickening but if you do you will enjoy for sure. Also, there's that, you don't enjoy Dota 2 until you really mastered it wich is a bad thing, Imo.

    NO new hero.Huge of BUGS have been ignored by valve.The matchmaking make me wait less than 4min. Sometimes I have to wait half an hour. No Diretide just a fuse,do you understand? Some bugs fix every 3 month, but the NEW TRASH SETS and TRASH KEYS update every week.Just only 2 man supervise dota2 server in valve.JUST 2!!!!!!!CAN YOU BELIEVE JUST TWO MAN???     Of course this is the best MOBA at the moment, but still not perfect with balance, users->development communications and in-community atmosphere. There is a strong commercial orientation, that covers with "hatz" but still this is a main object of Valve(ita obviously, i know). Why this isn't 10 out of 10? 1) TOO MANY insulting "pro" kids in every game, and there is no way to avoid them orOf course this is the best MOBA at the moment, but still not perfect with balance, users->development communications and in-community atmosphere.     So 7 out of 10 if fair at the moment.

    This is one of the deepest and best games I've ever played, the balancing is done regularly, the graphics are awesome and so on. If u ever wanted to play a MOBA u should really play this game because it out-classes every other game in it's genre!

    One of the best games I've ever played, it's a shame that that people are bombing the page with bad reviews. The critic metascore is much more accurate. It's a shame that most MOBA's are plagued with these terrible people.

    There's 2 things about Dota 2 it's completely free and it's developed by VALVe. If that's not enough for you to try this game I don't know what is. The only thing that you have to spend in order to play this game is time. Plus it has way better graphics, great character customization and doesn't require any money to unlock heroes (which I find very frustrating in LoL). It is also more balanced imo. As for the community, well it's still a MOBA so don't expect too much, although it's not so bad… Expand

    I played a lot of Valve games before this one, and to be honest I played LoL before this and I didn't like it at all. I didn't even know this existed until its second year. And I must say I have gained more out of this game than any other. Compared to other games, this game has hours, months, and for many, years of play without losing value.     This is an amazing game that's a blast to play with friends. It's always challenging, and has a very high skill cap, so there's always room to learn and grow. It also has one of the best competitive scenes out there right now.     well besides the idiots in matchmaking they often pair people like myself who have won around 300+ games with people which have 5 wins. And guess wut the everybody on the enemy side have OVER 600+ wins while im stuck with idiots who picks only carries and pudge.
    and it seems that if im playing alone in pubs people cant seem to talk english becos its too hard.
    other than the matchmaking system being this game offers a lot of fun if u play wif friends.

    I have to say it's a pretty good game. Valve really delivered about as I would have expected based on playing several of their other titles. The graphics settings make it so that you can play the game on a rather sub-par computer (although I still can't seem to make good use of my 144Hz). It's free, too, so pick it up and try it.     Fantastic game, really addicting, tons of features. Plus, all the heroes are free from the start. The only thing you pay for is cosmetics that only change the look of the characters, but the gameplay is completely unaffected by these cosmetics. Really fun game to play, especially with friends.

    I started out in dota 2 as a naive young man and suddenly I was accosted by several people who called me noob and kept flaming me. The community in this game is awful and the company does nothing to stop it and the gameplay is not very fun. It also looks very bad like it was made several years ago.

    I'll just list everything great about this game:

    the aesthetics are great, the art and the graphics are gorgeous, the competition feel is big. The replay-ability of the game is infinite.

    Most importantly it's free, so just install Steam and install it as soon as possible.

    Best "MOBA" (ARTS actually,) game there is. So much better than LoL HoN, and Smite. This game actually requires skill which differs from LoL. It's constantly updated, And it's also free to play.

    It's hard from the beginning but when you mastered the basics. It'll turn out to be a fun game.

The reality is that the game is not a RTS where your APM and build order are vitally important, instead it is more like a FPS where your ability to work with your team is important.

    The heroes are individually simple but in a 5v5 format the interactions between the various heroes and items can make for interesting matches. You are not picking a hero like in an MMO, you are picking a hero that fits the situation based on the other heroes in the match.

    The game does have it's negatives.

    In particular the game is very hostile to new players or players who are just having a bad game. Due to the anonymity of the internet, the 4 other people who depend on you are not as reluctant to let their frustration show at the earliest provocation. I highly suggest any new player simply mute their team at the start of their first 100 matches. You will still see important information like pings but will not have to suffer their taunts for your mistakes.

    Another glaring flaw is highly controversial to the community. The game does not have a surrender option. Much of the vocal component of the community detest a surrender option. They claim such an option would result in people surrendering by default at the first sign of difficulty and would prevent the back and forth that is possible in a game. I consider this an idiotic notion as there are ways to give a surrender option when there is no reasonable expectation that a victory is possible. Without a surrender option, teams that secure a highly probable win (ie: Destroying one lane's barracks) do not play the rest of the game with the same intensity as before securing the win. The games last about 10-15 minutes after they have been decided due to a lack of urgency as the other team farms kills in your fountain, goes back to farm for some item they really want to own, or simply stands back and taunts you.    … Expand

It is beyond one of the best games that I will ever play and i would suggest this game to anyone.

    After nine hundred hours, at times I still feel like a noob. This is the deepest most rewarding game I have ever played. BEST GAME EVER. Play it with friends, or make friends with the people you play with. Your going to be spending a lot of time together.

    This game is one of the best on the market and its f2p but the game has one big problem, it's the developer. They don't care about the playerbase, making unreasonable match making system, even worse reporting system which doesnt work properly and if someone tries to speak out his mind in discussion forums, moderators close the thread because of the truth written in it. So sad. Probably HoN LoL got a better community and not childish like this one got. Bashed the score down here to nearly 3.0, Diretide was promised, now it's 5.9.
    All in all, it's ridiculous, if you never tried this game, don't bother to do so because it's not newbie friendly at all.    … Expand

    This game used to have 9.2 rating but a few raging kids came and destroyed its hard work because they did'nt get a halloween event plz dont look at the score and try this game out ive been playing for 5 years including dota 1 years and i still don't know everth about the game that's how deep and complex this game is

    Overall highly overrated. The graphics are OK, but the design is bland and simplistic. The differences between champions are marginal and the overall design is unoriginal. The game lacks serious continued improvement. The learning curve is steep, but the overall result after overcoming one of the most annoying learning curves in history is far from impressive.     The game just fell in my eyes. Previously, it was just gorgeous, but after the "IT 3", for half a year we have not seen the game niodnogo new hero, was not the promised Halloween (who waited ALL), but Valve does not cease to surprise us with new chests, who cares? Obviously not "average user" who wants to enjoy the game, not the money invested in this project and sense to put money into aThe game just fell in my eyes.     A very good game.. But u suck at putting new heroes to the game.. Valve you suck where's my diretide. Where are my new heroes? the game is out of beta since long! why are you not adding heroes? you deserve a bad rating!

    And this dichotomy is perhaps the best descriptor I can attach to Dota 2. It is frequently a game which occupies two opposite spaces simultaneously. It is the best game. It is also the worst game. No game has ever made me as miserable as Dota 2 has. But no game has made me feel so consistently rewarded for my time, and as consistently, wonderfully connected to the friends I play it with.
