    Fantastic game which has managed to keep me enraptured for 300+ hours and with no sign of slowing. While updates aren't always lightning fast, they are worth the wait. Don't let some whining children poison your view of it.

    Valve promised us a new and good Dota experience, and after 3 years we still got no Dota.

    just to be fair, i have to change the rating from 0 to 10, valve had finally communicate with us, they will ship diretide in the next update, although it is a bit late. Yet, it is a great improvement that valve started to listen to the community.

    I'm from Ukraine too, and I do not care whether or not Diretide, I thing in this game is a team game, and because of the lack of Diretide, I'm not going to put this game a bad score. But, I will say only one thing, Valve, do not forget about the players, and they will not forget about you.

    I'd never played a DotA-style game until I won a beta invite to Dota 2 and a friend convinced me to play. At first it wasn't much fun at all, then after having the complex mechanics of the game explained to me repeatedly, it turned out to be a blast. Each hero is very different, so there are almost a hundred different ways you can play, not even taking into consideration the item or skillI'd never played a DotA-style game until I won a beta invite to Dota 2 and a friend convinced me to play. At first it wasn't much fun at all, then after having the complex mechanics of the game explained to me repeatedly, it turned out to be a blast. Each hero is very different, so there are almost a hundred different ways you can play, not even taking into consideration the item or skill builds on your hero. The map is gorgeous, the dialogue is pricelessly funny, and the time it takes to learn the game is well worth it.

    The game is very complicated (this is where reading the wiki comes in handy), but it's very fun with friends or even in a random game. It can be frustrating at first, but taking the time to learn tricks from playing, messing around, or watching competitive games (which are mind-blowing) makes the experience that much better.

    As for the plethora of negative reviews, many of those are non-credible due to the fact that lots of people raged about Valve not releasing some content on time. Valve is normally very good about things like that, and even without all the cosmetics-only updates, you get far more updates and additional content than you would from pretty much anybody else.

    After all, I'm rating the game itself here and not the company, and Dota 2 gets a 10/10 from me.    … Expand

    This is one of the deepest and best games I've ever played, the balancing is done regularly, the graphics are awesome and so on. If u ever wanted to play a MOBA u should really play this game because it out-classes every other game in it's genre!

    By far the classiest, most sophisticated and in-depth PvP game out there. The developers took a game that was already top notch and added features where it counted most.

    Excellent game, with much more sophisticated mechanics than LoL. It is very unforgiving and requires lots of effort to master it sufficiently enough to know what needs to be done (doing it is even harder). #nodiretide2013

I know alot of people will be hesitant to try it at first but there has been a new tutorial system implemented in DOTA 2 and I think it will help new comers.     Its going to get a 10 when they fix all the bugs there is with the friend system but dota 2 is with out a doubt a more intens, fun, and player friendly game than leg of lesbians. You get an intro to a basic champion and get to lear all the basic thing the you can go join other for a pratic battle, you have a feeling how long they have played when you look at there lvl and maybe even atIts going to get a 10 when they fix all the bugs there is with the friend system but dota 2 is with out a doubt a more intens, fun, and player friendly game than leg of lesbians. If you compare that to leg of lesbians where you dont have any idea how good a player is, you cant really play agains bots, atleast not any who have a brain, so you have to play for a while to have a chance to win, you dont have to have played any rounds in this game before you have a chance to win if you are against opponents who is around your own lvl. So its easy to start and itll get more and more intense and harder and harder the more you play because youll get to play against ppl who is at your own lvl and therefor have played it about as long as you have.     Dota 2 is an utterly brilliant PvP game that is ultra-hard and requires friends for the best experience. There is a steep learning curve and a lot of characters to get used to but the game is really worth it.

    This game improved so much since it was released on the beta. There are over 90 heroes to choose from currently and the gamplay is as intence and as rewarding as DOTA 1. I know alot of people will be hesitant to try it at first but there has been a new tutorial system implemented in DOTA 2 and I think it will help new comers.     The only F2P, not pay-to-win game on the market. Valve knows how to apologise, Heroes are free, game is great. Steep learning curve but very satisfying. Just hope that they keep it up

    DOTA is a perfect blend of action and strategy. This game requires deep, thoughtful tactics, while also demanding quick thinking and skill to pull off said tactics. It's the original ARTS and it is by far the best as well.

    R.I.P Diretide... DOTA 2 wonderful game. Invokerfor life. Very deep game with a great pvp experience. After 1500 hours of game u still learn and enjoy the gameplay. Tournaments and Dota tv makes it just perfect. We wait for custom maps.

    These children don't get one "addition" to the game when they think they should get it and all hell breaks loose. This game is fantastic and I've played more of this FREE game than any game I've paid for on Steam. People need to get over themselves.     The greatest multiplayer game ever made, with absolutely beautiful design and unparalleled finesse. Not as hard to get into as most people say, but there are constantly new skills to develop and things to learn. This is a game in its purest form not a hand-holding interactive story. Rewarding and very, very fun.

I have probably spent more money on this game, even though it is free to play and you get no advantage by paying, than I have for any other game that I have ever played, even ones that cost $60 to get at the get go.     This game improved so much since it was released on the beta. There are over 90 heroes to choose from currently and the gamplay is as intence and as rewarding as DOTA 1. I know alot of people will be hesitant to try it at first but there has been a new tutorial system implemented in DOTA 2 and I think it will help new comers. I know some people who play LOL might bash in this game

    Great game, I don't feel Valve is ignoring their community. They use subtile hints a lot but the kids in the community won't get it. It feels more like brats who have been given everything but still rage because now they want a pony too.

    Brilliant game, highly additive and totally free to play. You will have played hundreds of games before you realise it and still be learning new strategy and each heroes quirks.

Almost everyone that played this game already knows this, russians are everywhere, no matter where you play, it can be US, it can be Europe or Asia, russians are everywhere. Now I've had some bad experience with these type of players even though I do not wish to generalize but when even the language preference gets ignored when you queue up for a game and you get a game full of russians where only 2 of them speak english.
    In my experience, russians are the worst players to have in your team. I am not generalizing here, I know there are exceptions, there are always exceptions but almost everytime I had a russian in my team he didn't even speak english or he didn't even try to communicate with his own team besides cursing and I only wish that I won't deal with these kind of players in my future games but it's inevitable since Russia is the prime demographic for dota2 by population.
    -The community is toxic, no matter what you, no matter how you do it, the community will always be toxic. It's a competitive game, it's completely normal, but man, I've encountered some type of players that are the worst human beings in this world. Now I'm speaking about cursing your own teammates or stuff like that, when you try and help someone, or teach them a lesson that apparently they don't know, their ego inflates so much that he will no longer be a part of your team. Most of them will either leave, feed intentionally by walking right into the enemy and staying there until they kill him or just doing things that generally helps the enemy team more than it helps you (a.k.a. sending the courier into the enemy lines so it will die therefore we cannot transport items and the enemy team earns a bounty for killing our courier, OR even using special items like the force staff to push you into the enemy etc, the list is way too long). Meanwhile there ARE indeed consequences, leaving puts you into low priority for X ammount of time based on your total abandons or abandon spree and reporting players but that doesn't seem to be enough.
    -The reporting system is a spam and that's it. If someone does not like you, they'll report you for whatever reason. I don't know how the reporting system works but sometimes I get into low priority for nothing, literally nothing or nothing that I know about. Do people actually check the replay for every report submission sent? Because that would be way too hard for the devs to do considering it's players number and the devs number and/or admins.
    -The matchmaking is a forced 50%. This means that if you win 9 games in a row, you will lose 9 games in a row and not in the same way. For example today you win 4 times and lose 5 times, tomorrow you'll lose 3 more times and so on until your win/lose ratio ends up to a roughly 50%. This thing means nothing whatsoever. People who are playing competitive games usually have hopes or are actively practicing games so they could step in the pro scene. Now the way other games in this genre are doing is by adding a ranking system bronze, silver, diamond, cheese, bacon whatever etc that a player can be proud of and show to the team he wishes to enter or to know his current status as a player compared to others. What does the 50% win ratio prove? Absolutely nothing, you're the same as the other players, it doesn't matter that you stack with other players and you're on skype or whatever, you'll eventually end up with players better than you that will kick you back down and down from the very beggining. The matchmaking should add players of your current skill level so the match would be even. Most games I get are usually one sided stomps that don't even get to see the 30 minutes mark of the game, which is considered a very important part of the game since there are actually heroes that are good only after that 30 minute mark, also known as hard-carries.
    -This game used to have weekly updates with old heroes that needed to be ported into the game, cosmetics so the developers can actually earn money and general gameplay updates and bugfixes. They also used to make events during the obvious holidays of the year, well, most of the time. A year ago DotA2 had an event called Diretide during the Halloween that had a new gamemode added to the game that was Halloween inspired, The Greeviling for the christmas and so on and so forth, but this year, it seems like that has changed. DotA 2 didn't get any Halloween inspired event at all and in the past 3 months, the game had a single patch besides cosmetics patch.

    I am no longer buying cosmetics from the store until they decide to work on the game.    … Expand

    I've played this game for almost 9 years now and I don't regret a minute of that time. Incredible depth, ever-changing experience, awesome gameplay. The top game which set and made it's genre and the top game of that genre. Seriously, if you haven't tried it yet, just go and give it a few hundred hours, you won't regret it.

    The best e-sports game I've played since CS 1.5/1.6. With lots of different tactics and heroes to play, you can basically play the game in so many different ways that it never gets old. It still keeps the good old wc3 dota in mind (under icefrog) and is doing a great job at it! Would play the game any day (10/10).

NOTHING. Not even a "sorry we cant do it this year" nor bug fixes (this is another pretty big problem,there are about 1000 KNOWN BUGS not being fixed... well,since beta. So everyone was waiting for this update,because hey we didn't get anything else in the near past. Instead of releasing the halloween update they release cosmetic items (slang: hats) to buy. You know there are people refreshing a community driven page every 30seconds to know if there is a really needed update to a game that just went out of beta. There is none. Even sader there is no communication,there is no feel of improvement. There is just more stuff to spend your hard earned money on. And this is why all the people are mad and why this is absolutely legitimate. BECAUSE IT IS OUR (THE CUSTOMERS (its f2p,but the majority of this community spent money in good will)) way to show our disagreement IN HOPE TO CHANGE VALVES BEHAVIOUR IN THE FUTURE.     With the steep learning curve i find this to be one of the most rewarding online pvp games around. Great level of skill and ability is required and communication key to becoming a good team member. All in all a brilliant game by valve

    And this dichotomy is perhaps the best descriptor I can attach to Dota 2. It is frequently a game which occupies two opposite spaces simultaneously. It is the best game. It is also the worst game. No game has ever made me as miserable as Dota 2 has. But no game has made me feel so consistently rewarded for my time, and as consistently, wonderfully connected to the friends I play it with.
