    Don’t starve together. What was arguably one of the most difficult PC games on steam just became social. Don’t starve together adds a multiplayer to the Tim Burton style survival, subsequently adding new game modes, challenges, and crucially, more strategy. More hands, but more mouths to feed is a huge motto for DST. This one of a kind game will have you quickly leaving your friends in theDon’t starve together. What was arguably one of the most difficult PC games on steam just became social. Don’t starve together adds a multiplayer to the Tim Burton style survival, subsequently adding new game modes, challenges, and crucially, more strategy. More hands, but more mouths to feed is a huge motto for DST. This one of a kind game will have you quickly leaving your friends in the hope to scavenge a handful of berries, fuel, and rocks to survive just that one more night. The game starts in either spring or autumn, leading you to prepare for summer or winter respectively. As the next season draws closer, you feel a sense of urgency and panic to ensure your character is ready for the next obstacle has to throw at you; whether it be you house burning down in the scorching summer sun, or frozen by the freezing frostbite of winter. There is no game quite like DST. A strangely immersive and intense game, that is in a Tim Burton art style – truly unique.

    The game is separate from “Don’t Starve”. Don’t starve was a solo game, and it felt empty without other players. Klei then released Don’t starve together, a separate game entirely that enables a multiplayer functionality. It would have been nice to have this function in the base game, however Klei compensated for this by giving DST free to existing owners of the base game. DLC from the base game is being added; the DLC ‘Shipwrecked’ is an exception. A new reign and reign of giants have been added.

    The game is intentionally very difficult. You have to cater to sanity, hunger, and health, by collecting and crafting items from around the map. The map changes with each new world made, allowing for the player to explore new areas, or make different strategies based on their environment. Certain characters feature exclusive levels, such as the robot “WX-78”, who has to be mindful of the rain, and “Woodie”, who needs to eat wood to stop him turning into the “Werebeaver”.

    Sound is a huge factor to any game’s overall experience. DST’s is nothing to boast about, but it is unique nonetheless. There are an array of soundtracks associated with various parts of the game, however the characters’ sounds are repetitive at best. They mostly communicate to the player via sounds based on the character, (WX-78 makes robotic noises, for example), alongside a short subtitle as to what they are saying. It often helps give a clue to unknown objects around the map, and can sometimes be helpful to the player. There isn’t much more to expect, the game is designed to have a sort of retro feel, however when you’re spending a lot of time trying to survive for as long as possible, the same sound from a character can begin to get repetitive and annoying.

    The game controls are a definite upside to this game. It doesn’t require a mouse to play, so despite the nature of the game, the controls are relaxing; this game can be played with only one hand, as the spacebar can be used to replace the mouse entirely.

    Overall, DST, in spite of its incredible difficulty, serves to be one of the best survival games I have played. The philosophy of more hands but mouths to feed makes this edition of the game outdo its predecessor by a long way. In terms of playability, I managed to get 60 hours of this game before reviewing it, and I’m still not bored – a worthwhile purchase.    … Expand

    Its really great game for playing with friends. It has really nice (but simple graphics), nice humor and is still fun after year of playing it. You still discover new things.

    The unforgiving nature of Don't Starve Together may push away newcomers, but once you have spent enough time, you will probably fall in love with it.

    Don't Starve Together. Together being the key word, being able to play Don't starve with friends is a blast and one of the funnest things I have played to date. The game comes with all the characters from the original game, completely unlocked. Which takes away the hassle of trying to unlock everyone.

    You can choose how many animals of a specific species there is, how much food there is, how long the day/dusk/night is etc etc. All of this makes for a really high replay value. The gameplay options are also really nice. You and your friends can be playing in a peaceful world and after it starts to get boring then you can just create a pvp match that everyone can jump into and it will give you a whole new experience with the game.
    One thing that I did find somewhat annoying is not being able to tell what time of day (or night) it is when you join a server. I have joined a server and then before I had time to do anything dusk turned to night and I was killed by monsters.

    After you have played a bit on the normal game settings, and with the normal cast of characters, I highly recommend downloading some mods. Mods are one of the best part of this game in my opinion. By getting new characters which adds new game-play mechanics is loads of fun. Want to play Deadpool? How about Nick from Zootopia? There are numerous characters to download on the steam workshop. There are some other really fun and useful mods like not dropping all of your items when you die and being able to resurrect yourself at a fire. I'm excited to see what else the mod community creates in the future.

    This is a great game even if you have already played the other Don't Starve I can recommend picking this up as it is one of the best indie survival games out there.    … Expand

I think there is supposed to be a story, but I am not good enough at the gamne to get to the story bits. The gameplay was fun to play with friends, although quite hard without using a wiki.     amazing game really fun with friends only problem is this game is kinda buggy like shadow pieces rook statue didn't spawn so i couldn't beat the game. only bug i found on pc but on console that's a whole different story. so if you want to buy this game do not ever buy it on console

    Our favorite coop survival game. Cute graphics, variable characters, great crafting. Many places to explore, many things to do. You can easily spend hundreds of ours in one save file and not get bored.

    Don't Starve Together was smart to use Reign of Giants as a base instead of base singleplayer Don't Starve.

    I would highly recommend Don't Starve Together.

    Don't starve together is an experience which is different everytime you start a new world.
    All characters are unique and different, the art style is great, the music fits right in. The story is simple.
    The combat is a little tricky ro get used to but once you master it's a walk in the park.

    Nice survival-sandbox-game, but sadly gets quite boring after a while. Graphics and technical execution are done right, game performs well and controlling the character feels smooth most of the time.

In fact, it has beautiful Tim Burtonesque style graphics and the game easily grabs the attention of anyone who takes a look at the screenshots. Don’t Starve is one of the more popular indie games of the recent years for reasons I simply do not understand. It does look charming indeed. In fact, it has beautiful Tim Burtonesque style graphics and the game easily grabs the attention of anyone who takes a look at the screenshots. You start as a character whose only goal is to survive as long as possible. Similar to other survival games, you farm, craft, build to stay alive. The first problem with Don’t Starve is that the grinding part is simply boring. Often, it feels like a flash game with a fairly bad user interface where you click, click, click with your left mouse button without having any kind of fun. If you are curious about how grinding can be fun, please check Terraria out.

    Second major problem with Don’t Starve is the permadeath. I am not suggesting that permadeath is bad per se, it can be quite enjoyable when it is done right. In Don’t Starve, however, it turns the tedious game design into something unbearable. You may find yourself grinding for hours, just to die by a random encounter (and it won’t be your fault). Oh yeah, some might suggest “that’s what the game is about” or “you will learn from your death”. Just give me a break… By now you should have played plenty of difficult video games to differentiate good game design from bad ones. Just look at the Souls series. When you die, you know you made a mistake. Maybe you made your move too early. Maybe you did not block the attack when you were supposed to. And if you die, you may lose your “souls” and thereby some of your progress, but not the entire game. In Don’t Starve, unless you are playing with a second monitor with wiki open, there is no way of knowing what will kill you. The only way to learn about what kills you is to be killed by it. And then you will start over, go through the tedious grind for hours and die again for another reason you could simply not prevent. In Don’t Starve, you are Sisyphus…

    Last but not the least, the combat is atrocious. Combat in Don’t Starve is literally the same combat in any of the other thousands of flash games. If you have a good armor, left click the enemy until it dies. Or alternatively, make the enemy chase you and do your attacks while you are on the run.

    If dull, repetitive games with poorly executed game mechanics are for you, play Don’t Starve. If you have a friend who happens to have the same tastes as you do, play Don’t Starve Together. But if it is the art style that pulls you in, your valuable time would be much better spent rewatching The Nightmare Before Christmas.

    It's a multiplayer version of Don't Starve. First off, I'm not a fan of Minecraft-like (Robison-type survival) games though I played Don't Starve and Minecraft 10+ years ago for a couple of days. Only purchased this one because of the seasonal discount and because my gf and I wanted to play something together. We had a tiring, unrewarding evening with it, then she tried it on her own 2 times (full-night stretches) with little success, just went to bed in bad mood. Then I watched some 2-hour long "for beginners" video on YouTube, kinda got interested in this game during the first 10-15 minutes of the video, got tired after that and finally lost interest entirely.

    So, what's bad with this game:

    1. NO TUTORIAL. You really can't play it unless you watch videos online about it. Sorry but that's not how games should work. And you come to play this with your gf. To PLAY, not watch hours of videos first

    2. controls are pretty much broken. The game doesn't tell you to use keyboard, instead it enourages you to click on things. This works for resource gathering (though it only tells you later in a random loading tip that you need to hold the mouse button to chop trees, not click). But combat using a mouse is impossible. Moreover, all the overapping tress, bushes etc make you give wrong orders during fights. Just imagine how torturous this is when you play with a gf and both of you don't know this game. Fights were total mess. My character was just running around trying to chop a tree while I was trying to click on the running enemy

    3. the game is not elegant or anything. I mean the design. Just watch any letsplay video and see how many micro-rules are here. "7 dogs spawn but if you use a wormhole and then teleport back, they despawn", "bees become angry in spring even if they are in your hive, they will attack you but you need to run away 2 screens and run back and they will reset" and stuff like that. Literally thousands of tiny things to remember - which you can only find out through dozens of replays. Something you can't know in advance or expect if you just sit with a gf to play something new and fun

    4. multiplayer is broken, totally. Players in the party get maps which are rotated at different angles. You don't even see each other on the map unless you're very close! Half of our time was wasted trying to find each other! We had to sit next to each other, and even when looking at her map on her screen, it was still difficult to figure out where I needed to go to find her cuz of the mental rotations I had to apply. I finally made a compass, but it has limited usage time. And after death, map rotation gets randomzied again until you pick up the compass from your corpse! Players could walk as a group but that makes little sense because we're basically competing for resources and it's more efficient to gather alone.

    Overall, it might be a fun game in singleplayer (if you like this genre) but for multiplayer and especially if you both are beginners it's just a certain way to ruin your evening.    … Expand

Last, of all, the game has a combat system of prediction and strategy. Each monster and animal have their own way of defeating them which makes combat different for each thing you fight. You noticed the "Together" in Don't Starve Together right? Well, this game is multiplayer, meaning you can play singleplayer or private multiplayer with friends, or go on a public server alone or with friends. You need a lot of practice with the game and it's not easy for newbies, but once you learn via online or friends who are already great at the game, you'll find that Don't Starve Together is a great mix of survival and fun.… Expand

    The most beautiful coop game. You can play dozens of hours and it still still there is something new what you didn't know. The game tests you on your strength and endurance. Can you survive all four seasons?

    I was never interested in the single player original game. The whole concept was never appealing to me. but for a friend recommendation bough this one on steam on sale, and now im hooked. if you play with people you know is much much better. really challenging survival game. Fantastic art. I will be playing a lot more. but to be honest, it still don't change my mind about the singleI was never interested in the single player original game. It’s amazing how Klei Entertainment can come up with something so unique and addictive despite it being a game without a particular goal.

    The creation of Don’t Starve Together is derived from Don’t Starve, single player version of Don’t Starve Together, where many of its current elements are existent due to the original game. The aesthetics and genre of the game is much alike in terms of visual representation, sounds, and theme. Both games have beautiful musics, artwork, and game mechanics that helps enhance player’s experience. The Tim Burton style art is honestly a bonus to DST’s uniqueness from other games. In addition, DTS is more of a process-oriented game similar to that of Minecraft where the open world aspect of the game allows its players to explore and manipulate an ever-changing world to their whims. No one map is alike, thus making players explore until they can no longer go anywhere further.

    As players progress into the game, they might perceived the storyline as not being a critical function component of the game. However, as the player progresses through the game, the story becomes more apparent with the action intensity of the game, where hints are thrown at players when trouble arises. Much as how the action is presented in Don’t Starve Together, the storyline of the game is presented in inconspicuous bits scattered through the use of character lines and integrated game mechanics. The story of Don’t Starve Together is not shown; rather, the story is meticulously hidden so that the player becomes more immersed in the action of the game itself. Progressing through the game to piece together the story, makes Don’t Starve Together interesting and rewarding to play.

    Don’t Starve Together is also a game that allows players to not only learn but to also have an enjoyable time to overcome obstacles. The opportunities for Don’t Starve Together being a ‘serious game’ could be considered due to its semi-educational gameplay. Unlike edutainment games similar to that of ‘Math Blasters’ where children learn their timetables in game, Don’t Starve Together allow players to learn indirectly like ‘SimCity’. Even though Don’t Starve Together does not have a particular objective for players to strive for, players do come to learn how to build their own base, living space, along with scavenging for resources. Although Don’t Starve Together is not a game that would be considered appropriate for schools to use as a teaching mechanism, it is still a game that keeps a person’s mind grinding.

    Game culture has been growing as the years go by and I would say, DST is one of those games where DST community is welcomed to create mods and implement it into the game. Not many games allow mods to exist and the fact that DST supports this really means a lot. Furthermore, there are pop culture references being made here and there during gameplay!

    Overall, Don’t Starve Together is a wonderful multiplayer game that allows players to socialize, build, and strategize throughout the gameplay. It also gave players an amazing game experience due to the many amazing elements they put into the makage of Don’t Starve Together. Despite it being a bit challenging, it is still a game where players can eventually learn a way to overcome those obstacles. This game is honestly very addictive and I really don’t regret purchasing this.

    First things first this game is very unforgiving to the uninitiated, rookie players that know very little to nothing about ‘DST’. So I would recommend playing at least an hour or two of playing on your own in a private server world, before trying to play with others (and as always check the wiki, which is about half the gameplay right there).

    A second recommendation would be to play with mods such as map and item tooltip mods that really help out the old and new player (and really should have been in the base game but Klei went and did a Bethesda) and they don’t break the gameplay from the original gameplay mechanics and are client side only so you don’t need to run the server, (if you’re a purist). You can also add more if you just want to play for fun casually and improve the gameplay experience, which mainly needs to be placed into the server by the host (so no official server).

    Lastly I would recommend having friends to play with on a private server because every Co-Op multiplayer experience is better when you can coordinate, work ‘together to survive’ and help each other to build your camp (especially during the winter season in the game). It’s also just fun, because typically on your own you will end up dying a lot from animal attacks, and season changes, long nights (a main reason people stop playing, though death is a gameplay mechanic within DST).

    So I recommend the game but only if you’re willing to learn the ins and outs of the game and ‘practice’ with trial and error.

    Самое главное отличие между оригиналом и этой это то что в игру добавили сезонные ивенты и конечно же скины.БОЛЬШЕ СКИНОВ БОГУ СКИНОВ.

Nice hand-drawn graphics, a real universe of its own with funny characters and monsters and a lot of imagination. The concept itself is original: a mixture of craft and survival with a strong emphasis on the survival part, rather than on the building part. AndI must be one of the only few people who is not enthusiastic about Don't Starve. I definitely recognise it has a lot of qualities. You farm, you collect, you build, and you let your own imagination decide how your camp is going to look like, what gears you're gonna craft to go hunting, etc. However, the very core of the game is the constant pressure that you have little time to gather food, handle your health, mental health and hunger at the same time, and still build the things that are necessary to survive the winter and the monsters. Consequently, the creative part is totally overshadowed by the need to survive (at least for low-level players like me).

    Furthermore, the game, from its title to the essence of its gameplay, cynically pushes you to see how long you can survive, because you'll eventually die, it is just a matter of when and how. And surviving is merely rewarded by your score, i.e., the number of days you spend before dying. The worst part for me is the absence of Steam achievement to motivate me to try and try again. I die ? Well I can launch a new game, but maybe just to die a little later, which means at best discovering a few more mobs or objects and... that's it. Well, sorry guys but that can't keep me motivated.

    This game is great to play with friends and is fairly fun , however the perma-deaths really ruin it for me and make an early game slip up force me and my friends to make a whole new world .

    I've played this game for a while and i can say that this is one of the best surviving games. It hasvery good stylistic, survival elements, enjoyable graphics and a lot of fun if you have friends. Every character in ths game is usefull. Exploring in this game is really good. Almost every biome in this game is usefull, this is why you must think before building your base. Unlike other games on my mind DST is the only game that doesn't allow you sit on your base forever, every seven days hounds will attack you, the seasons will force you to craft usefull things and at the end of each season (except for spring and first autumn) the boss will come to you.
    The game also has very good world generation which allows you to create your own world.
    the community in this game will always help and guide you.
    But there is no perfect games so there are some downsides
    The battle system is primitive and the best tactic is hit&run (it works almost on every boss). But if you can't fight the boss you can just walk him to the swamp or any other aggresive biom and other agressive minnions will just kill him (works onle on season bosses). Yes there are some very difficult bosses that need special tactic but game doesn't force you to kill them.
    And after 200 days the game can start to be boring because you will easily kill bosses, hounds, you will explore the entire map very quick, yes there are caves and water biomes but again the game doesn't force you to explore them (i don't say that they are boring, they are very interestig, i'm looking with a view of player, that in first few hours joined the 100+ server).
    9/10 the game is very good .If you like survivng game, you will love it    … Expand

    Heard about this game from my friend; decided to play it, which was *definitely* a good idea. It can start out hard, but once you get used to it, you'll be hooked for hours on end. It highly encourages playing together and helping each other "not starve". One of the best survival games out there, the twist making things even better.

    I really love this game, I love the art, the soundtrack, the characters, and the hard unforgiving gameplay, this game is tough, but if you master it it is very enjoyable, highly recommend pay with friends 10/10

    Es un buen juego, con una buena dificultad, buenos personajes, buenos Monstruos y un gran final a la altura del juego mismo, con cada actualización mejora mas y mas, mas items, funciones y personajes como por ejemplo; antes no se le podía cambiar la ropa al Espanta pájaros … pero ahora si.
    Es un muy buen juego y a un precio muy accesible.

Даже если друга нету в сети то можно подключиться к рандомному лобби. За столько часов мне не надоело собирательство ресурсов,они всегда были подкреплены приключениями и разными происшествиями. Не говоря про моды которые облегчают игровой процесс так же и усложняют. Вариация модификаций радует и при том постоянно увеличивается. Я считаю игра подходит как и для соло приключения так же и для собрания с друзьями. Графика не замысловата и приятна для глаз. Никаких особых минусов нету,только смерть. Ведь когда проживаешь дней 100 погибаешь и не всегда охотно возвращаешься сразу. Игра все таки не на постоянную основа а, на раз в недельные похождения в часов 4-9.
    Итог советую игру для любителей развлечься с друзьями и узнать что-то новое.    … Expand

    10/10 would set the base on fire by accident again. If you've got a bunch of friends to play it with, it's going to be worth every penny. It's also not dead - Klei really puts effort into it even now.

    This game is good when playing on your own, but playing with others, even randoms, elevates this into amazing territory. The main problem is that you need really good connections for a reliable experience. But otherwise, its the best survival game around.

    Why do I punish myself with this game.. It is your typical resource grind, but the cartoon nature of the game just calls to me. It is extremely difficult, especially the underground, and there is no real end. If you have the time and don't mind grinding resources, building things that could be destroyed, and just trying to survive. This game is for you.

    Сюжет, а точнее предыстория очень связана с одиночной версией игры Don't Starve. Весьма интересный и загадочный, окутанный большими тайнами, которые игрок может постепенно разгадывать или же додумывать в своей голове.

    Графика оформлена в 2D стиле с мультяшной обработкой. По суте ВЫ играете в мультик. Но, не смотря на выше сказанное, игра замечательно пойдёт на любые компьютеры (слабые и средние).

    Саундтрек просто замечательный. Треки под каждый случай игровой жизни начиная от сезонных песен, заканчивая боевыми, при смене погоды и времени суток и даже когда ВЫ просто кушаете.

    Геймплей, не смотря на 2D не плохой. Много разнообразных механик, которые смогут вас удержать в игре на долгие часы. А также большое количество внутреигровых ивентов, которые также хорошо играются.

    Визуальное оформление, как по мне, в такой тематике игр очень хорошо подобраный: таинственный и страшный мир окутанный в мультяшную обёртку. При этом выжить в таком месте невероятно трудно из-за не дружелюбных мобов и тд. Как раз именно такой стиль игры и понравился большенству игроков за свою простоту и отсутствие вычурности.

    Мой комментарий: Я являюсь большим фанатом игры Don't Starve и категорически советую вам попробавать сыграть в такую замечательную игру особенно с друзьями. Данный проект подарит вам кучу незабываемых эмоций, начиная от первых смертей заканчивая чуть-ли не бесконечно прожитими мирами.    … Expand

    This game all together just has amazing replay value with random worlds free content updates and TONS of little mechanics.

Speaking of exploring, many biomes and dangers await including deserts swamps, the savanna, etc. Many creatures including passive and hostile ones.     Really popular game which is beautiful in its way and fun for some people but I didn't really have a fun experience. If I could describe this game using 1 word it would be "Frustration". I feel like the game should be doing a better job in explaining things and be little more forgiving in first couple days of playtime.     Don’t Starve Together takes the terrific game that it’s predecessor is known to be and builds up a whole new structure around the original that really opens up a lot of different ways of, well, not starving.
