Nice old school RPG. Not so strong story line, but very nice RPG gameplay. You can act with many items, use environment in battles. I was really impressed and stop my real life for 2 weeks. Also, normal mode was pretty hard, and it was so good, because new games are too easy.

It has some problems though that for me takes the masterpiece title from this game. Firs all the freedom the game gives is kind of wasted when in the ending most of your decision doesn't matter that much, also the level progression of your equipment is horrible, I would spend hours going after an armor that was usually very good with great peeks and unique characteristics, just for after one level up being able to buy a better armor in any merchant. Another problem is that some mechanics, as the way revival works, doesn't make sense in the lore and are there for the sake of convenience.

It was a great game I am really looking forward to Baldur's Gate 3 if they improve upon the mistakes of this game, it will truly be a masterpiece.

It is very hard to write about a game that is perfect from nearly every perspective. Mere enumerating its qualities might take a while. I mean, the variability, the characters, the balance, the plot… The list goes on and on. On the other hand, the only shortcoming is that most adults do not have that much time to submerge into this plethora of choices and, thus, to fully appreciate Divinity: Original Sin 2. However, it is a shortcoming of the players, not of the game per se.

First of all, the variability, hence, the replayability is extraordinary. Starting a game with a different character would give you a totally different experience. Even choosing different combinations of skills deliver an entirely untrodden walkthrough. Are you an undead? Cool, you have to cover your face all the time to avoid being attacked by townsfolk, but on the bright side - you can force locks without lockpicks. Are you an elf? Great, you can eat the flesh of dead people to find out about their previous lives. Or, with a perk “Pet Pal”, you can talk to animals, and that ability is crucial for some quests. The number of combinations is truly endless, so do not expect to experience them all in one sitting.

Next, the characters. They are cool. I am talking about the existing six protagonists that you can choose from. Of course, you can create your own character from scratch, but it is much more interesting to play as someone with sort of “off-screen” motivation, rather than as a simple passer-by in this RPG delight. What is more, even if you choose one of the six default characters as your hero, you can only choose 3 of the rest as your companions. This limitation means that, best case scenario, you have two interesting side stories uncovered. Therefore, to learn about all the 6 main characters, you need to finish the game at least twice. And again, referring to the paragraph above, different companions mean different walkthroughs. For instance, while one of your teammates might have a casual talk with an NPC, another one would kill them. As such, the game constantly surprises you, never allowing you to be sure of anything.

Another accolade goes to the game balance. This feature is often neglected in both positive and negative reviews, but in my opinion, it is one of the most important elements of positive game experience. In its turn, Divinity: Original Sin 2 is balanced perfectly and for each individual gaming style. Whether you like challenging battles or light-hearted speedruns, whether you rely on the support of your teammates or like to experience the in-game world alone, there is always a difficulty setting and a character build that suits you specifically. Furthermore, it might sound that some classes are easier to play than others. Nonetheless, it is not the question of easiness, it is the question of skill. For instance, traditional damage-dealing tanks are often disrespected in many games for their brute force and lack of finesse, but in Divinity: Original Sin 2, you would need to scout and exploit the battlefield in the same manner as you would do playing as a rogue or a wizard.

Last but not least commendable component of this game is the plot. In addition to its malleability (see the paragraph about variability and replayability), the story is… captivating and understandable at the same time, which is a rare combination. So, here you are, a Sourcerer, that is blamed for all the bad things in the world. Around you are people similar to you, who are also blamed for all the bad things in the world. As a result, people who are not like you have decided to put collars on your kin and lock you in, well, concentration camps with additional torture seances - all of that is done, of course, “for your own protection”. All of this sounds real-life relatable, thus, easy to understand and even easier to psych out. Incidentally, you do not even need to play the first part of Divinity: Original Sin because the second part is pretty self-sufficient in terms of narrative.

So, a perfectly balanced and replayable game with interesting characters and engaging plot - what more do you need? In fact, the only thing you might need is time to plunge into this exemplar of an RPG. Do not let 50-something minutes glitchless speedruns of “Divinity” fool you - you will spend an easy hundred of hours only on the first walkthrough, which would probably be instantly followed by the second. Sleepless nights, here we go again…

There's a number of other issues too, interminable load times, nonsensical difficulty spikes, insufficient difficulty scaling (should be something between classic-explorer), poor character writing (every story character plays like a piss poor skin), terrible economy, limited resurrection when it's very easy to lose characters, unbalanced combat (corpse explosion is the meta and that's it), the "make a huge chest and drop it" thing, but those just reflect Larian's lack of skill. The exp thing reflects Larian's lack of a brain.

In general, if you are a fan of Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale games, you will be more than satisfied to dive into this fabulous world full of powerful sourcerers, lizard-men, dwarfs, humans, elves, undead, gods, and all the rest who were not that important to mention here.

The story is somewhat like a fairy tale but fortunately not that childish. If you are a fan of a "spoken RPG game" with no violence then this game is not for you. Fights are approximately 70% of this game, 20% goes to exploring and 10% for dialogues.

The game forces you to have a certain experience level before advancing further. You may try to progress the main story without the suggested level but it will probably be too difficult for a casual player. With no better option, you are forced to complete most of the side quests and gain experience whenever necessary, just to progress the main story further.

If you don't have something like 100 hours of time for playing this game, then I recommend you look for other title.

All in all, if you like isometric view, and are a fan of somewhat forgotten RPG games, then this game is definitely for you.

Combat is fun as hell while remaining a challenge (at least sometimes), and above all is extremely varied, depending both on the circumstances (environment and enemies) and character builds, which means that it doesn't get tedious or repetitive even after more than 150 hours. The dialogues and narration are once again flawless, with writing and voice acting (at least in english) that are a real pleasure to listen to. The story is maybe the weakest point, which is not to say it's anywhere near bad - it's just not as emotionally engaging (at least for me personally) as some other games, such as The Witcher 3. One major pain in the ass was the inability to select and move several items in the inventory at once, which meant I spent more time shuffling about in the inventory in this game that the entire playtime in some not-too-short games... But overall, technical issues were very scarce for a game of this scope, and (apart from the inventory) did not distract me from the awesomeness of the world and the gameplay. Thoroughly recommended :) Expand

Divinity: Original Sin 2's core story is one about racism, classism and divine choices which will constantly make you question your decisions. Perhaps better than any other game before it, your choices truly have some unintended consequences that will make you wish you hadn't taken that rout and yet, that's why it excels. The characters are fully fledged out, and have their own personalities, making your party members unique and captivating. Where the game truly shines is its gameplay. It's classic turned based with brilliant mechanics. It's all about choosing the right strategy and this comes with brutal difficulty. The game is hard, with having to load battles numerous times the norm. And yet, that's why it's so good. The game will punish you for your mistakes during its lengthy 60-150 hour adventure. You can even hop online for arena combat or 4 player co-op. That's an added plus. Presentation wise, the game is beautiful. The world is lush with art direction, and although it can't match the visual fidelity of big-budget games, it more than makes up with flare and splendor. The voice acting is simply amazing, also the audio design - with the soundtrack being good but not great. Of course, the game isn't perfect. There are tons of bugs, with some breaking quests. The map and quests are oddly confusing at times, with their being too many and the game not really giving you a clear indication where to go. This of course is part of it not wanting to hold your hand, but at times feels a bit excessive. Finally, if you decide to go off the beaten path and complete quests that would be further down the line than the game intends, it will set up some odd dialogue exchanges, since character lines are pre-scripted. Still, I can forgive a lot since the game is simply too good.

Overall: Divinity: Original Sin 2 is an achievement. It's an addicting experience. With such a morally oblique world, with consequences and punishing but brilliant gameplay. It's a world that begs to be explored more than once and an unforgettable RPG.

Üstelik her zaman istediğinizi buluyorsunuz.

Very good RPG in pretty much every way, except encounter design. Performance

The game runs very well, I have no issues with it at all while playing and very rarely have gotten crashes in my two full playthroughs and half a playthrough in multiplayer. A consistently stable framerate and no stuttering or lag made for a nice experience.

    Graphics

It is a rather gorgeous game, the settings are quite nice and no bad textures either. While it is not the most beautiful game the graphics are still appealing to look at. I came across no graphical glitches or errors during my time playing it.

    Gameplay

The gameplay is phenomenal, it is your very standard turn-based RPG combat but it works very smoothly and flows nicely in between each of the turns and characters.

The character creation is very detailed and different from what you expect from RPG’s nowadays, you can customize every stat and even your starting abilities and if you want your character, they also offer a number of premade characters that have their own unique backstories and quest to be undergone during the duration of the game, you can also choose to take these characters as companions if you want your own character. Despite the fact there are “classes” you are not tied into a specific class, after the first act you are able to respec your character whenever you want and can invest in whichever class you want and get their abilities, you just won’t have enough skill points to get all of them.

The combat offers several unique ways in which to go about it to all the classes, the environment itself can be a weapon, if there is water you could use a skill to shock it and stun enemies, oil can be ignited into fire and barrels and other things can be broken or used as barricades. The options for the combat are very vast and make it fun to replay as or try out different styles.

There also are actual skill checks that can have big impacts on the game and your characters as a whole.

One thing is there for many fights have only combat as the option.

    Story

The story follows whomever you choose as a character as you’re being taken to Fort Joy (which is basically a prison) for being a sourcerer, they believe these sourcerers who are people who use the mystical element source, are causing the Voidwoken to appear, a group of evil demonic like creatures that are plaguing Rivellon, you start on a ship to the Fort, after arriving at the Fort you have to escape and try and stop the Voidwoken.

The story is much more interesting if you do the many side quests and character quests the game has to offer, these also help to get a more complete picture of the world and get you great loot that can help you in the game.

The story lets you do pretty much whatever you want, there is still a certain way it goes but for the most part, you can kill everyone if you really want to and do some really horrible things if you want to, these choices do have a real impact on the world and may even cause some problems with your companions. The game has things built-in for this and has alternate ways to advance the story if you go the more non-traditional route.

Overall the story is really great and there are many features of it that make it interesting and different for each person, the ending is seen as a bit of a letdown and I do agree a little but the story is still great.

    Soundtrack

The soundtrack is phenomenal, the music really captures an adventuring vibe and during fights and even the final fight, the music is grand and gets you at the moment.

    Conclusion

Divinity: Original Sin 2 - Definitive Edition is probably my favorite game of all time, the very fun gameplay and combat combined with the majestic music and great storytelling really drive home how amazing it is. When I finished my first playthrough I was sad that I had finished which is why I replayed it, I very rarely replay/watch/read things but this game was so good that I did replay it. I would recommend this game to anyone who loves RPGs and good storytelling as well as fun combat, but beware the game is quite lengthy and will definitely suck you in.

One of the best RPGs you can play.

It has plenty of depth and can be quite dark, but it is so playful in every aspect that it never gets boring.

Absolutely one of the best games you can play IMO. Looking forward to what Larian does with Baldur's Gate 3.

It's definitely a much better game than Baldur's Gate 3. I wish the company had continued this series instead of coming out with a new name. Then everything would be as it should be, but BG3 is a big failure.

A well-crafted CRPG that exudes a sense of craftsmanship. While there are a few shortcomings, it doesn't fall short of being hailed as a masterpiece.

Before Baldur's Gate 3, this was my favorite RPG ever made, and I can't hold it against DOS2 that the same studio that produced it outdid themselves with their next title. This game is still a 10 to me, I think BG3 is just beyond the scale.

It's not as AAA-feeling in terms of the voice acting, cinematic interactions, etc., but the game's story and interactions are still extremely strong

It's not as AAA-feeling in terms of the voice acting, cinematic interactions, etc., but the game's story and interactions are still extremely strong without the Hollywood-esque magic of BG3. The game's core system is obviously influenced by that of tabletop games, but is an original creation instead of a direct replica like with BG3's interpretation of D&D 5e. It's an improved version of the same system seen in DOS1, but where that game was as solid as they come without outright being a masterpiece, this game is a genuine masterpiece.

BG3 makes it hard to play anything else, but maybe I'll eventually do my millionth playthrough of this gem.

I only hope it gets more recognition as the game that built the engine behind the most accurate D&D experience we could ever hope to get from a video game.

Beats out every other CRPG before it thanks to a solid combat system you can constantly respec with, top tier writing and characters, plus all the normal shenanigans you can get into in tabletop rpgs.

Original Sin 2 is one the best games in the recent years, and one of the most complete RPGs of all time, period. Everything a hardcore RPG fan would want from a game is on offer here, and you can barely find another title that mixes the classic table-top Role Playing elements with digital media so ingeniously. Not only for RPG fans, but for everybody else, Original Sin 2 is one of the best choices of 2018.

Divinity: Original Sin II Definitive Edition is so complex that I think everyone will find something to like, whether it’s combat or an exciting story. The best thing I can say about it is that if I’m asked what I liked about it, I can’t pinpoint something. It’s the complete experience and the feeling of joy that it left behind.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 Definitive Edition is probably one of the best old-school RPGs you can find on console, a true masterpiece. The PC's version was almost perfect, this one follows the same path. Definitive Edition adds a new tutorial, new game mode (Story Mode) and a rework of Act III for the main campaign and it's great.
