It's a cute game today and it's always on sale so it worth to play just for the space levels music.

Mostly fine, I mean I understand why people like this game if they played as a child and I can see all the good ideas and what all of that. I have just played so many games that have elements from this game or maybe just those things better so I can understand and see it plays in history, even i didn't feel too much Wild Plays it except for the amazing music

DuckTales Remastered is the ultimate remake of one of Capcom's oldest and most difficult games. Most of the cast was reunited for this game and I thank everyone at WayForward for making that possible. The game has been completely remade and given several quality of life improvements. It is still a fun platformer with an unlockable art gallery as an added bonus, astounding!

Played the game a few years ago with my younger sister, i am not ashamed to admit there were a couple platform sequences that frustrated me as well when i was asked to help out.
A lot of fun to play.

DuckTales is a game catered for children. Unsurprisingly, it is not a very complex game, and the controls are rather simple. The game incorporates a Metroidvania-style map and is split into five levels after the introductory one, with a boss at the end of each one. It is a cute little game with a lighthearted story.

Unfortunately, factors that will weigh on your enjoyment of the game are the atrocious hitboxes, the difficult bosses, and the lack of checkpoints. The bosses aren't easy to deal with until you've learned their patterns, and you typically you won't manage that the first time through. If you lose all of your lives at any point of the level, you have to restart the entire level all over again. This frustrated me quite a lot, since I quickly got tired of having to repeat the same level over and over again.

If you want to maximize enjoyment, play on easy. The gameplay isn't all that spectacular to warrant exploring anyway, and only the bosses at the end of the levels are meaningful. There are too many frustrations in the levels to make it worth torturing yourself through them, and they're not particularly short. Although I'm rating this a 7, it's more of an "in retrospect" rating that's been eased-up based on the game being released in 1990. Realistically, in modern times, it's more of a 6.

After the very interesting Castle of Illusion I played this very old game. But DuckTales is worse: The gameplay is boring, there are not so many funny ideas like in Castle of Illusion. The rigid controlling is very obvious in the last level and is frustrating. The dialogues are boring. The graphic is not so sweet like in CoI. Therefore it is good, that this game is over after only 2 hours.

    1) Piss me off a little,
    2) Make me question the fact that Disney has good writers,
    3) Make me watch some Ducktales,
    4) Waste five (or so) hours into the game.

These are all bad things, right? Well, maybe except for the watching Ducktales part.
To quote my good ol' friend, he said: This game is just repetetive.

At first i questioned this statement, after all, i loved F*cktales on the Gameboy and i even consider playing it again! However, after buying this game and playing it from start to finish. I slightly agree with my buddy.

Sure, you do the exact same things most of the time but most of the time it's varied enough to make me enjoy the game, in similar fashion to Lego Star Wars The Video Game (See my review on LSWTVG).
In a very similar fashion to LSWTVG, indeed!

We all know that Lego games have loads of puzzles, heck, even most boss fights have. But in the first Lego Star Wars game for the Gamecube, the puzzle rate is somewhere between 20% to 45%.
Same goes for this game, it just doesen't have enough varied events to make the game replayable, Now, in Lego-whatnot-wars-the-viddygem, this is somehow not a thing i cared about. Why? I have no idea (See my review on Lego-this-game's-title-is-way-too-long).

As for the story, nothing makes logical sense, the plot is thinner than my curtains (which are basically made up of 90% air), and guess what?, actual work went into this.
Yep, actual work. Since when did Disney do that?... OH, WAIT.
This "work" included such things as: hiring the old voice actors from the D*cktales cartoon... and that's basically it.
That's really something though. Finding everyone that isn't dead/a raisin and re-hiring them? They probably kicked them outta' the building when they were done, but still, that's some dedication!

But that doesen't prevent to game from being a straight dissapointment.
Here's a summary. I could literally sit here all day and write down all things i don't like about the game, but nevertheless; here it is:

    Pros:

+ Soundtrack has been refined and sounds better than ever!,
    + Everything is, well, remastered!

    Cons:

    - Game is too short,
    - Some of the platforming spots are complete Bullsh*t,
    - Model animations severely lag on older computers,
    - Last level is a real rager,
    - Somewhat repetetive,
    - Is not challenging at all,
    - Is probably made for kids.
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I wanted to enjoy this game like a lot of other people, i mean, i still have some old Ducktales videotapes lying around somewhere that i recorded a long while ago, and i'm always willing to pop those ol' suckers into the VHS-player and giving it a go but this game is something else, i can tell you that for free. Next piece of advice is 10$, you see.
The game is very clearly designed for kids, at least in my opinion. It's easy, it has next to no replayability, and it's just not a game worth spending the full price on. It's a shame too. Disney has a very bit opportunity to create high quality games, and then they decide to make somehting like disney universe, or something likewise. Sure, a lot of Disney fans are children (BTW i hate children) which makes it somewhat understandable that they make these sorta' producs. However, sometimes, even the oddest of companies can make something legendary (in my opinion). And i will be reviewing such a game very soon. So sit tight, b*tches and gentlemen!

But when it comes to this game, in short, this game gets the score:

    5/10 (Mreh, whatever)

I'm not sure what it is, but something was lost in the translation; it just doesn't have the same charm that the original game had for the NES. But without comparing this game to the original, it's still an enjoyable experience. But how could I not compare this to the original? It's arguably one of the greatest games for the original Nintendo console, and tons of people, myself included, hold it near and dear to their hearts. So it's nearly impossible not to compare this 'updated' version to the original game that came out almost three decades ago.

One of the biggest reasons this game doesn't have the same charm as the original, at least for me, is the soundtrack. I know some people think they did a great job with it, and maybe they did, but most of the new versions of these beloved songs are just awful, and at times barely even recognizable. I would have been much happier with this game if they had just re-released the same game with the same music and just updated the textures, but whatever, it's not the worst thing ever. And I'm not sure if they went ahead and made some of these levels longer, but the levels feel longer, and sometimes for no reason at all other than to extend the time of play. And lastly, the cut-scenes; these initially made me dislike the game greatly as there are far too many of them, but once you realize you can skip them, they're not so bad.

Overall, this game is good, but it could have been much better. If you've never played the original than you will probably like it more than I did. It's got everything you want in a solid title; the controls are tight, the graphics are crisp and look great in high resolution, it works perfectly with a controller, and the voice acting is very well done.

It took me 2 hours and 50 minutes to finish the main story of the game and the only thing that bothered me was that there were no more levels to play in. I loved every single minute of it , even the last boss fight , and I will keep on playing it in order to unlock all the extra content. If your childhood hero is Scrooge McDuck then you should definitely play this classic masterpiece!

The parallax backgrounds are very nicely drawn and so are the remastered enemies.
Boss fights are almost completely revamped. Still the same general patterns but with a bunch of new ones and some new full-screen powers and effects are thrown in.
There's some content to unlock but it's nothing that adds to the game story, just some nostalgia for fans.

I saved annoyances for last as I don't feel they really impact the enjoyment of the game. Scrooge will sometimes say a line of random dialogue during gameplay, the most annoying one is when he says Mrs. Beagley is as big as a diamond, when you pick one up of course. The way the line is read is long-stetched and annoying after hearing it more than 5 times.
Some character animations are lacking in animation frames. I've made sure my PC wasn't being laggy, also tried my Desktop which is well equipped for all performance intense games of 2014, and it still seems like there's lack of frames in idle animations.

Small complaints that don't hinder any enjoyment of the game. I still find the animation to be very nice a fluid for the most part and most importantly, it stays true to the original's style, both in art and level design.

It's a great nostalgic throw back to a franchise many of us 80's and 90's children grew up with. The music has been remastered wonderfully and I haven't had any problems with the controls. It's great that they managed to get (most?) of the voice actors back, that only make's it that much more special.

The stages are mostly left the same, with minor changes to make it more action packed or interesting, I haven't had a problem with the stages, in my opinion it simply makes the whole experience more "refreshing".

A complaint that seemed common with people was that the cut scenes cut away from the game and while agree that sometimes there's a little bit TOO much banter interrupting game-play, it really hasn't been a deal breaker for me and some of the major cut-scenes explaining the story and situation has been nice since the original NES game didn't really do too well of a job explaining anything, not that as kids we needed it, ha ha.

To be perfectly honest, the only major grip I have is the art. The character sprites are wonderfully done, except the artists seem to neglect minor touches to the game, such as having the character's mouths move when they talk. The biggest issue I have though is that the sprites look wonderful, as if they were hand drawn and then everything else is a stagnant, ugly, pastel colored 3D rendered. The two styles class horribly and the artists who were doing the background and foreground work didn't even bother to have proper perspective when considering the sprites. In the introduction stage, doors, chairs and other background objects look to be 10 times bigger then character sprites and it's just lame and off-putting.

Does that ruin the game for me? No, not really, but it is a little off-putting and really made me wish they would have just went that extra mile for attention to details. All in all, I'd pick it up, especially if it's on sale.
