    I write a best games of the year article for a medium sized gaming press site.. Disco Elysium has been my game of the year for 4 years running (and that's only because I didn't play it at launch).

    I'm reading through some of these negative reviews and honestly, the people just feel dumb to me. So many people feel like the game is politically preachy, but it presents each branch completely neutrally. Each branch has an aesthetic, but clearly you're not meant to think one of them is RIGHT. They're projecting. It seems like some of these **** just seem to think that French is gay.

    I mean, I get it if you don't love reading in your games, but it's no Planescape Torment, it's not DENSE with text. And the text there IS is gorgeous. Cannot recommend this highly enough.

    Finally, those looking for something that transcends the immaturity of modern gaming look no further. Beyond the tirade of rubbish that tells us being adult is about how much we kill, or how much we swear, but instead tells us being adult is about how much we think.

    Come at me 0/10 reviewers, "I gave up in the middle because the story was boring" Sounds like you're "loose and falling asleep", go try some Lexapro or something because you sound depressed mate.

    Best CRPG I have played in years. The writing is intelligent and funny and moving all at the same time. The hand drawn graphics are beautiful. But the best thing about this game is it let's you roleplay any way you want without punishing you. Wanna be a drunken, drug addicted cop who has completely given up on life, you can do that. Or maybe you wanna play as a down on his luck recoveringBest CRPG I have played in years. The writing is intelligent and funny and moving all at the same time. The hand drawn graphics are beautiful. But the best thing about this game is it let's you roleplay any way you want without punishing you. Wanna be a drunken, drug addicted cop who has completely given up on life, you can do that. Or maybe you wanna play as a down on his luck recovering addict who is looking to redeem himself. The game will accommodate whatever role you want to play. Wanna be a racist, fascist, misogynistic pig no problem. Wanna be a liberal, feminist, communist, no problem.

    It won't be a game for everyone, as if you don't like to read this probably isn't your game because there is quite a bit of reading. But guess what, if you don't wanna read a lot of the dialog you don't have to and the game won't punish you.

    Absolute masterpiece of PC RPG game. If you want dive into psychology of character you shape through the game, don't hesitate and give it a try.

    Masterpiece! I was really amazed with gameplay, so refreshing. Music, Storytelling, Graphics, everything about Disco Elysium is awesome! Zaum, please make more!

    Masterpiece. Some games are about gameplay. Some are about word building, even adventuring. This is about humanity and art. But don't let that discourage you. I think this can be enjoyed by anyone. That's why it's a masterpiece.

    One of the greatest games I've ever played. The developers really put a lot of foresight into making everything feel interconnected and make the impact of your actions and your thought cabinet feel important. The game has both moments of genuine hilarity but also deep sadness.

    Simply the best game I've ever played. Gameplay isn't for everybody - you just walking, finding a stuff and communicating with characters, "throwing dices" in a checks (because there's a pretty good RPG mechanics) and read A LOT. But the plot, the world, the atmosphere, the characters...man, that's indescribable. It was perfect, every single detail. Literally fell in love to this game.Simply the best game I've ever played. Gameplay isn't for everybody - you just walking, finding a stuff and communicating with characters, "throwing dices" in a checks (because there's a pretty good RPG mechanics) and read A LOT. But the plot, the world, the atmosphere, the characters...man, that's indescribable. It was perfect, every single detail. Literally fell in love to this game. Completed it twice in a row, and started a third walkthrough. Heavily recommend it to people who like unusual worlds and charming atmosphere, perfect writing and a memorable characters.     INCREDIBLE game. Haven't really played anything like it before. It's like a mix of top-down RPG and point-and-click adventure. Most of the appeal here comes from the lore, characters, writing, story, and dialogue. It's almost a little like those choose-your-own-adventure books. Longer play-sessions can get a little fatiguing because it's a lot of reading and decision-making, but that,INCREDIBLE game. Haven't really played anything like it before. It's like a mix of top-down RPG and point-and-click adventure. Most of the appeal here comes from the lore, characters, writing, story, and dialogue. It's almost a little like those choose-your-own-adventure books.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Ok this is some of the best writing in any fiction ever, from novels/scifi to film/tv. There are so many laugh out loud moments in this game, and the dialogue really makes you think and consider your own values. I kind of feel like I'm a better human for having played this game.… Expand

    In Disco Elysium, you are ashamed of the past, future, present, and even your own appearance and material condition.
    A must for all CRPG fans. This is a phenomenal work, script and art master piece

    Amazing worldbuilding(history, beliefs), memorable characters, dives into human existence like not a single game i have ever played before. Has some bugs and minor gameplay flaws, but still a 10/10.

    When I first started playing the game had pretty massive bugs. Ones that would normally make me drop it. But I didn't. I couldn't. It's just so gooood! Also, I keep thinking about it and I'm gonna have to go back.

    Давно меня настолько сильно не затягивали игры, давно не было такого что я пиздец был расстроен тем что игра закончилась. Ахуенные войс актёры, ахуенные диалоги, ахуенные шутки, ахуенный сюжет на уровне какой-то книги бестселлера . Всё в этой игре на 96% ахуенно. So it was only because of some some good reviews and a discount that I took the chance and dove in (final cut edition, with full voice acting on all dialogue)—and came away overwhelmed. Disco Elysium is a uniquely sumptuous, rich, organic, funny, andI'm not into point-and-click adventures. Despite good intentions, they often end up feeling like a contrived puzzle, predictable and rote. So it was only because of some some good reviews and a discount that I took the chance and dove in (final cut edition, with full voice acting on all dialogue)—and came away overwhelmed. Disco Elysium is a uniquely sumptuous, rich, organic, funny, and human experience. The writing is stellar — far beyond what's usual for games, definitely literature territory. Fantastic as the imaginary world of Revachol is, the people and conversations are real and alive. A++ world building, wonderful art and graphics. A definite masterpiece and personal GOTY material without a doubt.… Expand

    Traversing the mind of your character is as much a plot as the case you’re trying to solve, and once you’re immersed into the world of Revachol, you’ll be struggling to leave.

    Disco Elysium – The Final Cut is something rare. It’s a re-issued version of an already-beloved game, that manages to eclipse the source material through clever and thoughtful additions that maximise one of the game’s most beautiful assets: its prose. But more than that, it’s the only CRPG that can truly claim to emulate the tabletop experience—not through adherence to statistics or rules or character sheets, but through the simple act of asking questions, and thoughtfully incorporating the answers.

    Disco Elysium has a distinctive quality to its narrative, whether it's the interesting history of its world, or the mysteries surrounding the investigation, not to mention the depth and uniqueness of the many characters. It's one of the greatest story-driven experiences we've ever seen.
