Only new players and veteran fans who have taken up smoking crack to fill the void of no Disciples II will want to shell out the money for each of these expansions. Shame.
-
On its own merits, this expansion is a reasonably good deal, but it's best suited for the hard-core Disciples II fan who wishes to play every single official scenario for the game.
-
Computer Gaming WorldThe new campaigns take advantage of a larger supported map size, allowing for longer and more complicated scenarios. [Oct 2003, p.117]
-
Though it does have some solid elements borrowed from the series as a whole, this seems like a rushed title that really does more of a disservice than it does to advances the series.
-
By and large, SotD just doesnt bring enough to the table. The new missions are fun, but the fact that this expansion has been divided from its evil counterpart and the overall sense of the game actually being Disciples II Gold Edition 0.5 makes the game feel like a jip when you can get so much more out of the original Disciples II for a fraction of the cost.
-
Make no mistake though, Servants of the Dark is fun; it's just that the whole experience is a bit short when compared to the lengthy and extensive original.
-
The single player mode is lacking in many ways and feels disjointed, as if the missions should have just been in the original game.
-
Computer Games MagazineScenario design in the new campaigns is overly reliant on puzzles. [Oct 2003, p.95]
-
Cheat Code CentralIt's not really different and it's not really better, it's just pretty much a continuation. You know the saying "If it ain't broke..."
-
There's just not enough new content to justify this expansion.
