Diablo III: Rise of the Necromancer

When the bones hit the dirt, I’d rank the Necromancer highly in terms of sheer fun factor and uniqueness when compared to Diablo 3’s other classes. I do feel like $15 might be a bit much to simply unlock a new class, especially when so much of the new stuff in this patch (like some new areas for adventure mode) is being released for free. If it’s within your budget, though, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed with the new playstyles and crazy strategies Rise of the Necromancer brings to Sanctuary.

Diablo III: Rise of the Necromancer boils down to a pack that is tailored for people who love the series already. The character feels well thought out, visually striking, as well as being fun.

The Rise of the Necromancer makes a solid attempt to revive a comatose patient. Although the “new” vintage class brings a breath of fresh air and ties organically with the gameplay direction the series has taken, it does not solve the numerous endgame issues of Diablo 3. Fans would enjoy the re-emergence of the priests of Rathma, the rest will most definitely find other games of the genre to be more enjoyable.

Rise of the Necromancer is a pricey enterprise but the return of a beloved class can't be treated as a flaw, especially when that return is really well done. The 2.6.0 patch itself deserves praise as well - new locations, Challenge Rifts and an excuse to complete the campaign one more time are clear signs of a reanimation well done.

There’s not much to say in the end. It’s a $15 DLC that gets players a new class to play and level up in Diablo III. Diablo III is an amazing RPG to begin with, and I think that the Necromancer adds some enjoyment out of it all. Hardcore players of Diablo III and those looking for a reason to go back to New Tristram should most certainly pick this DLC up. For the casual player, maybe wait for a price drop a bit. Even then, just know, you’re getting a new class and that’s about it. Granted, that class is just as fun to play as the rest of them.

The Necromancer has returned with a well-composed concoction of nostalgic skills and modern design. It's a flashy addition to an already strong roster of classes in Diablo 3 that, while held back by two minor missteps, deserves the attention of Diablo veterans and new players alike.

Think you’re tired of Diablo III? Rise of the Necromancer will soon change that. The revamped corpse-raiser is a blast to play and a smashing way to revitalise both the campaign and Adventure Mode. Newcomers to Diablo 3 won’t find it so essential when there’s so much content and so many classes to get stuck into already, but this is one more good reason to get into Blizzard’s epic, cementing its status as an all-time-great action RPG.

While this add-on shows some deficit on the amount of the content, what you actually get, shows the high production value you got used to from Blizzard. The pricing is arguable, though.

The Necromancer is well designed, somewhat faithful to the original and fun to play. Unfortunately it's also a single character sold for a huge price.

If you haven't been interested in Diablo 3 for a while now, this expensive Rise of the Necromancer DLC is probably not for you. But if it is your go-to-game, then this addition will give you the best class thus far. Seeing as Diablo 3 offers endless content, buying Rise of the Necromancer will be a small, but very worthwhile investment.

Delightful content for all Diablo 3 enthusiasts and will probably also attract some of the older nostalgic and obstinate guardians.

Every time I boot up D3, whether it's for a new season or a new group of friends, I have the option to level up a new Necromancer, and that's going to be invaluable down the line for me.

The Rise of the Necromancer is a good offering, dedicated to real, hardcore fans of Diablo III: if after five years you still love slaying demons in Tristram, for a fair price you'll find hours of fun and some new stuff.

Highly funny and well-crafted content, however, in a small dose and at fairly high price. So what now? The Necromancer is an amazing figure, but it's hard to get rid of the feeling that Blizzard could offer much more.

If not for the price, Rise of the Necromancer would be easy to instantly recommend to fans of Diablo III or anyone with even a passing interest in trying out a classic hack-and-slash RPG. Still, this is a fantastic character pack that adds one of the best, most enjoyable classes to the existing game roster.

Rise of the Necromancer brings in what could be the games most entertaining class yet. Hugely adaptable with the ability to both summon minions and be active in the battle, the Necromancer has an excellent duality. However, this new class pack is very expensive for what it offers. Whether it's worth it or now will be very much down to how much you like Diablo III.

The Star of Diablo II is back in Diablo III. Still fun, still cool to play, even if the price of this DLC may temper your enthusiasm.

The real star of the show for Diablo III in 2017 is patch 2.6.0. The Necromancer is an expensive luxury for those that really want to have everything that the game offers.

The Reaper of Souls expansion really shook the foundations of Diablo III, giving us a reason to revisit the game and stay for longer. Compared to it Rise of the Necromancer is a disappointing waste of a chance to make something great again. [09/2017, p.61]

There will be plenty of players loving the Diablo 3 Necromancer, and at the end of the day, if the majority people still playing Diablo 3 are happy with what’s included then that’s what matters. The Necromancer is reasonably enjoyable and, if you’re satisfied with Diablo 3 and all you want is a new class, then you can probably come to terms with the $15 price.
