Daily RadarBlizzard has scored again with an object lesson in polish, depth and sheer compelling playability.
-
It’s an endless cycle of killing creatures to get bigger weapons so that you can kill even more creatures. But who cares? “Are you not entertained?”
-
Anyone who ever considered an action/RPG should run straight to the store and sell their souls for Diablo II.
-
AntagonistThis is one monkey that's tougher to kick than nicotine, alcohol, and nose-picking all rolled in to one.
-
We all seem to agree on one thing though; this game rocks!
-
PC GamerDon't steal, but lie and cheat if necessary. As a gamer, it's your duty to own Diablo II. [Aug 2000, p.75]
-
Diablo II isn't a perfect game - the save system and battle.net are the two major issues we had, though we are still baffled by the lackluster graphics. However, when it comes down to it, Diablo II is undeniably fun.
-
Why are you still reading this review? You should be on your way to the software store right now!
-
Despite all of its problems, Diablo 2 is as much fun as any action game I’ve ever played and twice as addictive.
-
The music is just plain amazing and it is perfect for the game.
-
Higher resolution graphics and a better automap feature would make this game rate even higher.
-
CheckOutSimply put, "Diablo II" is a legalized form of crack cocaine.
-
Another addictive dungeon romp. Kiss your free time and hordes of demon butt goodbye.
-
The wealth of online servers, the randomly generated dungeons, the difficulty of missions, not to mention the three difficulty modes which change the way you have to fight to survive, all add some staying power to the game.
-
Total Video GamesIt will take over your body and soul when you take it to new heights by playing on-line.
-
Make sure your affairs are settled before you start playing this game, and pray that your relationship is strong enough to make it through the addiction.
-
While it is a great game, it doesn't rate top honors due to the many issues with Battle.net and flaky support for Windows 2000.
-
Spank! If you're going to buy one role playing game this year then this has to be it.
-
Game FanApart from the major issues of online play, the graphics aren't showstopping, especially when you consider that the game was in development for nearly three years.
-
With appealing graphics, extremely challenging gameplay, along with keen sounds, and a two second learning curve, Diablo II provides the ultimate experience.
-
Held back from being an EXCELLENT game by the fact that it features no really interesting characters or roleplaying, it only has a few simple quests, its story is paper thin, it has a few technical issues, Battle.net is unreliable, and the gameplay is ultimately shallow and repetitive.
-
In exchange for the additional complexity and size, you'll have to tolerate low-resolution graphics and a few more gameplay problems than you might have come to expect from Blizzard games.
-
As groundbreaking as the original Diablo may have been, this style of role-playing game has been easily outdone by the likes of "Baldur's Gate" and "Planescape Torment," which concentrate more on integrating the character(s) with the story.
-
It's fun for a while, but ultimately is very, very repetitive and hard on your clicking finger.
-
There's a feeling that sinks in after awhile that "Diablo" was more direct, more enveloping, more focused than Diablo 2.
-
Da GameboyzThis is a great sequel to "Diablo," and I highly recommend it.
-
CNET GamecenterA great game, but not the revolution in gaming that we were expecting.
-
To start off, let me state definitively that Diablo 2 sucks...Sucks time, that is -- it sucks every last bit of free time out of your life.
-
It’s a slightly empty, guilty and dissatisfying sensation, like pleasuring yourself with an adult mag that you stole from your senile grandpa. Sure, it felt good for a little while, but it was wrong on so many levels that you have to wonder, after the fact, what the Hell made you do it.
-
The SAVE & EXIT option is a true killer for playability.
-
Those who just want to get their licks in without committing significant hours of time will find Diablo II to be one of the more addictive games of 2000.
-
Most fans will not be able to get away from it, repetitive and simple or not. Diablo II is simply one of the most potent drugs of the year 2000. Take it orally for a week, and intravenous use is sure to follow.
-
If it wasn't a Blizzard title, Diablo II would be dismissed as the bimboesque bit of frippery it actually is, and gain no more than a passing interest from most folk. Be warned.
-
What Diablo II lacks in visuals, it makes up for in music, as the appropriately selected and highly engaging tunes never fail to live up to the moment and truly serve to immerse the player.
