Deus Ex: The Fall

Image of our imminent future is now on PC. The Fall could have been a much better game with just a little bit of push, but right now, it's just an opportunity to PC gamers to experience the iOS version. It's not a bad game, it's just below the expectations.

During it's four hours, Deus Ex: The Fall, presents a watered down, effectively castrated version of all the elements that made Human Revolution a true modern gaming classic. It may look like Deus Ex in a few strategically taken screenshots, but the actual experience is anything but. You will keep playing, desperately hoping for the glimpses of genius that are alluded to as part of the regular franchise, but real PC gamers should stay well away from this cheap cash-in that only tarnishes the reputation of one of the most sterling franchises in gaming.

In The Fall, NFusion have taken a scalpel to to Human Revolution’s template, collected together a pile of game meat - the essential giblets of a Deus Ex game - stitched it together and presented you with a serving. It’s recognisably Deus Ex but it’s not very appetising.

Deus Ex: The Fall could have been a lot better on PC , but the bad porting definitely kills the fun.

Someone must have noticed during development that this game doesn't work on PC with controls from tablet hell! There's an interesting story, but you have to walk barefooted over broken glass to find it. Not worth the money.

The PC version of Deus Ex: The Fall is a short, cumbersome, frustrating affair, also very simple in terms of graphics.

This was supposed to be the first entry into an episodic game, but there are currently no announced continuations, and it is doubtful any who played this game are eager for more.

Deus Ex: The Fall belongs on your phone, not on your monitor. This is a woeful port with few redeeming features.

There’s just no reason to play Deus Ex: The Fall, even for big-time Deus Ex and Deus Ex: Human Revolution fans. You can get the same experience out of reading a Wiki entry online. Better yet, if you must play the game, grab it on a mobile device, where it will actually work.

This PC port fails to take advantage of the PC's increased technical power and greater control fidelity to adequately smooth over the game's prior tablet limitations.

It was a good enough mobile game, but on PC it’s terrible, devoid of everything that made Human Revolution a success. [06/2014, p.61]

Beneath the struggle with terrible controls and bugs, there are vents to sneak through, email to hack, and people to confuse. It’s something that could shine on the PC if any sort of care was taken.
