The setting is in the U.S city of Detroit (mostly, you'll see what I mean) and everything about the way the city looks and the story surrounding it and the things you can do around the city all make sense and make you want to explore. Some levels are open while others are more linear but the way you can move around both areas is still excellent.
The best for last, the gameplay. The game is an fps, stealth action game with upgradable abilities and a variety of weapons, grenades and gadgets that must be managed properly by arranging them in your inventory box. The gameplay connects well with the story and the setting in that you can interact with a variety of friendly characters, make certain decisions based on your missions, decide how you want to tackle a mission by using your powers through whatever strategy you want and the games negotiation sections which involve seriously discussing with key characters in order to determine the outcome of how the story is going to go.
The game is perfect and the Director's Cut commentary mode that lets you hear how the devs developed the game really opens your eyes to what they went through.

This game can give you what Cyberpunk 2077 can't: a great story. The gameplay is not bad at all. It's definitely a must-play. I don't know if it's because of the Director's Cut version, but there are some optimization issues. There doesn't seem to be any solution.

A truly excellent game, finally allowing different approaches to all situation, even the iffy boss battles.

Final levels became a little tedious, but the first 3 quarters are some of the best gaming you can find.

    DO NOT BUY DIRECTOR'S CUT
Buy the original version: it has that awesome gold filter design and does not have an UNSKIPPABLE DLC Missing Link aka Backtracking Hell.

To this date I can't find a game that is as good as this one, It's a masterpiece plain and simple.
To me it's how immersive the game is when music and atmosphere and story are good enough and in synch with each other it's perfect and this game deliver the best of the above.

I just bought it in 2021 and it is amazing that this game is from 2013.

Extremely good voice acting and NPC body talk.
I like the available choices of replies.
    They also influence the outcome.
It is similar to Mass Effect, with the big plus that it runs perfectly on Linux.

The AI is dumb, and I like that frankly.

This game is a great experience. The combat and the rpg elements are a bit janky and rough around the edges but the great immersive world, the missions, the superb level design and the secrets outweigh the negatives. I recommend hardest difficulty, non-lethal - which is way harder than lethal ~ 30 hr playthrough. Pritchard/10

You can go a stealthy route, you can get robots, your augmentations, and explosives to do all the work for you, or you can treat it like a good ol' fashioned shooter. The skill trees and the items in the game supplement all these playstyles so none of them really feel left out. It was immensely satisfying to go an entire mission without being spotted or setting off the perfect trap to be able to slip past.

The hub worlds of Detroit and Hengsha Island were great too. They were full of environmental storytelling. I don't want to spoil too much but just know that the level and world design is fantastic. The side quests had some difficult choices to make, and did a good job of showing how the world is at the time of the game.

The main story was entertaining from start to finish, keeping you interested throughout the game. The one complaint I had was the chapter that was originally was added DLC (the Missing Link) in the original version but it was integrated into the main game in the Director's Cut. It personally worsened the pacing for me, but it wasn't such a huge deal as it was interesting story wise. The ending of the main story left me satisfied and was pretty open to sequels.

The characters were good too. The protagonist comes off as a jerk sometimes but I liked him towards the end. All the other characters had distinct personalities, and many of them were symbols for ideas they pushed, which was cool.

I'd say the game has aged very well. It's totally worth playing, even today. If you're curious, you can play this game without playing the original Deus Ex.

Almost a perfect Deus Ex game, hindered heavily by third person cover system and takedowns. The plot isn't as deep as the original game. Director's Cut version fixes a lot of stuff (like the insufferable yellow filter and nonsensical boss fights) but also introduces some issues in lighting. Must play.

To be honest, I do not really like stealth-actions but this one was just awesome. The atmosphere of cyberpunk is great, even the design of the main menu. We got a lot of ways to complete all levels. Do you want to fight and kill everybody or you just want to complete this game out of enemy sight? You are welcome! The storyline is genius with some really good twists and deep plot.

The stealth action isn't for everyone, but what makes the game unique is the thematics, and the soundtrack is fantastic!

Let's start off with the GOOD things.
I enjoyed the stealth part of the game and the difficulty especially in the beginning was very challenging and fair. You couldn't just go guns blazing since you can be easily shot in the face and die from 2 shots. That kinda forced you to play stealthily and since your batteries get depleted every time you do a take down it means that you won't be able to constantly take down unaware enemies. The enemies have pretty decent hearing and sights so it made the player extra careful of their sound ques and wondering if they should kill that enemy or just let him continue his route.By the middle and end of the game you don't pay attention to anything like that since you already have your silences and even if the enemies attack you, you could defend yourself and still have plenty of ammo from their dead cold bodies. The soundtrack of the game was pretty amazing and I enjoyed the cyberpunky techno groovy feeling of it.Most of the characters were voice acted pretty good too.The story in some parts were really interesting but on others incredibly boring, predictable and dull. The speech system was pretty good and I enjoyed it a lot, I just wish it was more polished and had more options to convince other characters.
    Now the BAD PARTS.
This game has no respect for your time. Most of the time you either walk long corridors or take elevators that go on for hours and hours and you just sit there with your dick out waiting for something to happen.
The world looks pretty huge and interesting but if you start exploring it you see how incredibly empty and boring it is.The gun fighting mechanics are sometimes bugged and don't work properly making you sometimes die due to a glitch rather than your own skills,The inventory system is incredibly annoying to manage and using an item from it is a hassle. The abilities you can equip are pretty generic and incredibly unfair especially the invisibility one since it kills the entire sneaking aspect of the game(which is 90% of the game ) and it just lets you rush in.You can literally just eat the recharge candy and walk past the entire area without the enemies finding out, that destroys the entire difficulty part of the game. There were also some platforming parts in the game which were unnecessary and hard to pull of due to this game not being about jumping on crates and platforming. The enemies are also one of the most dull witted AI's that were possibly programmed. They just rush you without any sense of strategy and you can pile them up in one small room and throw a nade at them and boom easiest way to kill enemies ever. The hacking parts were also pure random chance that were created to waste the players time until he just gets lucky. And finally the ''Your choices aint worth jack **** bro''No matter what you do in the end you are given some bland choices that decide the entire course of the ending. That everyone is not how you make a choice driven game and it made the endings incredibly not worth it to reach.6/10
