Destroy All Humans! 2 - Reprobed

Krypto is back... well, not the original one but an all-in-one clone that this time must face the KGB menace. This second adventure is better than the previous one, thanks to wider levels, new powers and a better mission design.

As i was 15 years old, I had a lot of fun with the chaotic gameplay and the humour in Destroy all Humans! 2. Today, I dont laugh that much about the jokes, but the destruction is more fun than ever before! All in all its a very good remake, and even new players can burn the world down with a smile on their faces and a silent laughter in their heads.

Destroy All Humans! 2 – Reprobed is great entertainment, and will give you plenty of reasons to keep playing. Weapons and movement that belie the age of the source material are only really let down by a few cracks in the modern veneer, and the story being a bit old-fashioned.

Silly fun that lives up to its premise and a ton of options come together to make this a remake that's worth hopping back in the saucer for. It also doesn't hurt that it's gorgeous to look at.

Successful remake full of action, humor and crazy situations. The only thing we can criticize is too much similarity with the first game, but that was already the problem of the original from the past. However, we can still talk about one of the most unique action games in many years, and the eye-catching alien can still teach a lesson to the younger human heroes who were born after him.

The studio took a few liberties with the story, changing some things around and expanding certain segments, but thankfully, they didn’t neuter Crypto’s humor to cater to the easily-offended. [Issue#260, p.50]

Destroy All Humans! 2 is a fun and chaos-filled production. But most importantly, it has been adapted to be played fluently today.

Those who had tasted the previous remake will be delighted to learn that Destroy All Humans 2 Reprobed corrects many shots: the experience is based on a funnier and denser narration, on a rich gameplay and an overall feeling more fluid, more modern. This is obviously due to the original game which, at the time in 2006, had been able to rise a level but the redesign work is also appreciable: the graphic aspect sometimes delivers some nice surprises, despite bugs and problems techniques to highlight. We had a frankly pleasant time and in its finality, this second adventure testifies to a very good mood to be devoured without moderation.

Destroy All Humans! 2 - Reprobed is a good example of how a remake should be made from a game that has aged well despite the peculiarities of its time, both in terms of mechanics and narrative. An interesting return to the past that seems even more attractive thanks to its reduced price.

Getting to work with Crypto again is always good news. In this remake we get more or less the identical adventure as before, now optimized visually. This ensures a decent standard and the co-op is again very nice. However, the performance is far from optimal and the texture pop-in causes a detriment to the experience and that is a shame. Nonetheless, the remake is an enjoyable release that will certainly please fans of the franchise.

There’s plenty of potential fun to be had in Destroy All Humans 2, it’s just a bit of a mess. And being a fun mess in 2022 isn’t as forgivable as it was in 2006. Personally, I kept playing just to hear more of Cryptosporidium’s razor-sharp attacks on counter-culture, but I definitely would have preferred it if there was a better game supporting it. Meanwhile, I am fully behind giving early-3D games a fresh coat of paint while retaining what made that era special, even if the package is a bit covered in warts.

Destroy All Humans! 2: Reprobed is a journey back to the times when people were not offended even by rudest jokes. If you’re sensitive, you should steer clear, because Crypto takes no prisoners and mocks absolutely everyone. I did enjoy the game’s humor, but the gameplay itself is competent at best.

Destroy All Humans! 2 – Reprobed enhances the look and gameplay of the 2006 classic, but it does not solve some of the game's underlying issues.

Very similar to its predecessor, and the protagonist truly is an unpleasant one - but the flower power action remains entertaining.

Crypto's return is a fun one, but hardly essential. Some dated humour and repetitive missions hold the game back from greatness but there is still certainly fun to be had in this B-grade Sci/Fi comedy adventure.

Overall Destroy all Humans 2 - Reprobed is a very beautiful game and the gameplay whilst repetitive is enjoyable. The 2006 humour does get grating and some of the jokes that as a teenager may have got chuckle does not hit the same way for someone who is now in their late 20’s. What really spoilt this game for me was the bugs and crashes that really stopped me from being able to fully engage and enjoy this title.

Reprobed is a game built primarily on its humor. However, it often misses the mark because of its simplicity and directness, even plainness. [Issue#321]

Destroy All Humans! 2 Reprobed is a gorgeous, destructive romp across multiple cities dragged down by its original platforms' limitations. Unshackling Crypto from the confines of previous gaming hardware might give him the ability to jet to new heights, but it’s unknown how much a new game would be able to maintain the raunchy spirit of its predecessors. Perhaps enough interest in these remakes will encourage THQ Nordic to think about creating new adventures for the constantly aggravated and devilishly malicious Furon named Cryptosporidium.
