    Fails expectations like Emperor Calus fails The Witness... Bungie lied about everything! Story is bad, new location is boring and pathetic, new super is useless, there's no dynamic campaign they promised. Basically speaking Bungie lost all creativity after splitting away from Activision-Blizzard.

    This DLC costs the same as ELDEN RING and delivers... nothing. You can watch the intro and the outro, and avoid playing the DLC. Total garbage.

    Worst FPS campaign ever... like alarmingly bad. If you already just play Destiny for the gameplay it improves a few, and regresses one, of its core gameplay mechanics. Also you will enjoy strand i think. However if you were looking at jumping in for the first time don't. This was truly awful story telling. I can't put into words how disappointing this expansion is.

    - The story is unbelievable and childish (we encounter cybernetic humans who we see for the first time, not knowing if they even want to kill us at first sight or not, and immediately spill all our plans to them in the first sentence. and become best friends with them after a minute of talking)
    - The way that characters speak or joke is also pretty stupid and childish (the ghost or Nimbus    - The story is unbelievable and childish (we encounter cybernetic humans who we see for the first time, not knowing if they even want to kill us at first sight or not, and immediately spill all our plans to them in the first sentence. and become best friends with them after a minute of talking)
    - The way that characters speak or joke is also pretty stupid and childish (the ghost or Nimbus in Neomuna)
    - The new location is pretty boring, just not exciting to play at all
    - The overall style of the game is inconsistent - there is a dark/gothic theme of the Hive, robotic race of the Vex, and then some characters look like in a cartoon (take a look at Shaw Han in the Cosmodrome when standing close to him)
    - Everything else in the game is the same as before, including the same season grind for the 20th time. Same running activities all over again just to get a nice-looking new armor and an ornament for the new exotic weapon (although we already have dozens of both armor and weapons, so another new one does not make a difference at all)
    - I wanted to see the group finder which was advertised for the expansion, but looks like it is only coming in the last season of the year, so together with social aspect being non-existent (zero chat going on anywhere), to assemble a group you have to actually go outside the game lol (website or mobile app)
    - It also looks like Bungie, the developer, does not even know what they want to do with their own game - they increased the health of enemies with the expansion, and then rolled it back after a month. So now it's back to being extremely boring where you just run through the activity killing all the enemies in one shot trying to complete daily missions (called bounties), and sometimes you shoot a rocket at them, but your teammates kill them faster than the time it takes your rocket to fly lol, so you have wasted a rocket and the ammo for it can be pretty scarce, which makes it all quite annoying

    So yeah, pretty bad. I wouldn't purchase or play if not for FOMO on the new armor and ornament for the exotic, so I will endure the mindless grind of the same boring activities (or give it up in the middle like already happened before)    … Expand

    A huge fail in all aspects of gaming; story telling, character development, gameplay etc. None of it was delivered on a $100 DLC. I'm shocked at the sheer bad content produced and packaged as something that turned out to be the opposite, a hot reskinned, woke infused, socially engineered pile of garbage. Bungie has the astute rep for taking the money and running, congrats well done.     This franchise is really going downhill. Now they go from charging after a price increase for recycled content to raising the price again to be able to acquire season 2 and following and I am afraid that the content they will offer will be recycled from previous ones and rescue old Destiny1 weapons. Frankly no one can recommend this game and the only thing I can advise you is to stay awayThis franchise is really going downhill.     Wanted to wait to review until the raid was out, so here we are. First of all, people need to stop with these dumb 0/10 ratings. Lightfall is not a 0. It's bad, but these ratings are all just spiteful, not fair. Lightfall starts off pretty good, with a nice cutscene, some intrigue and shock value, but once the actual gameplay starts, the quality drops instantly. They introduce this newWanted to wait to review until the raid was out, so here we are. First of all, people need to stop with these dumb 0/10 ratings. Lightfall is not a 0. It's bad, but these ratings are all just spiteful, not fair. Lightfall starts off pretty good, with a nice cutscene, some intrigue and shock value, but once the actual gameplay starts, the quality drops instantly. They introduce this new civilization, but they don't flesh it out. We see 2 characters throughout the campaign, one of which is the cringiest character I think I've ever seen in Destiny and that's it. We're supposed to care about saving them and Neomuna but they don't give us a reason to. It's all just go here, stop this, kill that and it's getting tiresome. They asked 50 bucks for a campaign you can finish in 4 hours, with a barebones filler story. D2's biggest issue is its storytelling. Look at Halo 2. It was made by the same studio, yet the quality of storytelling is not even comparable. There is no character development and they conclude most things in repetitive seasonal stories. The formula they use is flawed and needs changing. As for the raid, it is visually pleasing and has OP weapons. That's about it. The mechanics are boring and overall, the raid is way too easy. I'd argue that even Vault of Glass is more difficult than this. Now, some positives are Strand. It's a fun new subclass that I can see replacing Stasis for crowd control, and it's great for movement. The Exotics and Neomuna as a location are also good. There's quite a bit to grind for and the gameplay is solid as always, but the positives don't outweigh the negatives unfortunately. This entire expansion feels like it was cut in half. I'm convinced this was all supposed to be part of The Final Shape, but they just decided to split it in two so they can milk some more money from people. Overall very disappointing and I would not recommend buying it at full price. It's barely worth 30 bucks. I suggest waiting for a sale or buying from the known third party sellers… Expand

    Lightfall takes what the Witch Queen did well, and does not apply it. The customization of classes, the addition of fragments, the loadout customization and armor mods update are just great. Really, cue applause. BUT - the Witch Queen had feeling, lore, story, interaction, meaning behind what you were doing, and intertwined what we knew and made it better. Lightfall is just an update,Lightfall takes what the Witch Queen did well, and does not apply it.     I have never played this game as I am on PlayStation but from talking with people on XBOX who have played this game and watched some gameplay

    I cannot be bothered to try to analyse what "went wrong" with this campaign and expansion. Especially after The Witch Queen expansion was so good, by comparison. Some good, but overall, the feel of this game is WAY too formulative now.

    More reskined items, no story questions answers. Entire campaign should have been a single mission.
    More items in store tho.
    Broke the server, goes off every other day.
    Absolutely not recommended for new player.

    Opening mission was great then it just falls flat and HARD.
    Marvel level writing at best.
    2 brand new characters get introduced one of which is annoying at best and the other the one that was just killed off needlessly.
    Strand subclass was cool and somewhat balanced.
    Neptune weapons are just reskinned moon weapons (Seasonal weapons generally have more effort than that lmao)
    It amazes me how we went from Witchqueen to this...
    makes me worried since this was originally supposed to be the last dlc before Bungie decided Final Shape would be a thing.
    Lightfall is really just the fall of everything Bungie did right during Witchqueens year.    … Expand

    How the greats have fallen… This game series was my favorite of all time. You could be a robot space-cowboy(exo hunter). A thing I had imagined as a small child but didn’t realize until I had played the first Destiny game. With a gripping story, great characters, and the best voice acting I’ve witnessed in a game, it was a dream. Now - Destiny 2 resembles more of a mobile game or FortniteHow the greats have fallen… This game series was my favorite of all time. You could be a robot space-cowboy(exo hunter). A thing I had imagined as a small child but didn’t realize until I had played the first Destiny game. With a gripping story, great characters, and the best voice acting I’ve witnessed in a game, it was a dream. Now - Destiny 2 resembles more of a mobile game or Fortnite type game than the action packed looter shooter it once was. Lack of attention to PvP has killed this game for me. I would play 2-3 hours 3 times a week playing just crucible which is now unplayable in my opinion. I love the raids and dungeons (dungeons are now microtransactions) but even they are lacking now. I will not be purchasing the final expansion, it is the only expansion I have not owned and I’ve previously purchased all but Lightfall twice to be able to play on Xbox and PC. Rest in peace Destiny.… Expand

    I just payed for 2 hours of a campaign of re-used content that's only there to access 4 FOMO based seasonal campaigns which also have to be payed and can not be played anytime I want but only during a few months- seriously? How is this legal.

    Campaign: 1/10. This is arguably the worst campaign for a destiny expansion I have seen yet. Maybe this is because Lightfall came right after Witch Queen (arguably the best dlc), but I seriously can't think of the positives that came out of this campaign. It starts off with    (Spoiler free, goes over the Campaign, Combat/Gameplay, Strand, and the New Location. TL;DR at the bottom as well)

    Campaign: 1/10. This is arguably the worst campaign for a destiny expansion I have seen yet. Maybe this is because Lightfall came right after Witch Queen (arguably the best dlc), but I seriously can't think of the positives that came out of this campaign. It starts off with this awesome cinematic, then goes straight downhill from there. There are way too many plot holes throughout the plot. New characters are extremely forgettable and based off tropes that a middle schooler would write for a character. It's not even that you don't care for them, its that you aren’t given any time or motivation to care about them because of how the campaign was constructed. For me personally, I cared infinitely more about the guns I would get from. The entire campaign struggles with tone. It tells you about how dire the straights are for the guardians, but doesn't actually show you it at any time apart from the opening. It tells you all of these things, but when it tries to show you, you feel like you missed a cinematic or something as it just doesn't make sense. Lightfall tries to come across as a war story, but it really lacks any feeling of a war story at all. I wanted to feel that despair going into the climax for this part of destiny with the next expansion, but I really don't feel any at all. Calus is also extremely underwhelming. How Destiny went from Savathun to Calus in terms of the quality of an antagonist is stunning as Calus is so incredibly boring. Even Osiris suffers from bizarre writing in Lightfall. Also, the plot is hardly explained. Why are you in this new area? What exactly are you trying to get? Where is everybody else? Why exactly is it important that you get this? Etc. It gives players way more questions than answers going into the most important major expansion. It makes me incredibly worried about "The Final Shape". I hope the same writing team isn't in charge of that.

    Combat/Gameplay: 7/10. This is the strongest point of Lightfall. Much like Witch Queen, legendary difficulty is exactly how challenging it should be. Crafting is also much improved as you no longer need to extract any pattern. I do dislike the new armor system as it feels like a more boring version of the old elemental system, but this can be adjusted. If you only play destiny for the gameplay / loot, then you will not be disappointed.

    Strand: 5/10. Strand feels pretty fun to use, but it's really weak right now. The grapple, the most fun part about strand, takes an extremely large amount of time to come off cooldown, even when you use it to grapple around. Why grappling on walls and using grapple in combat share the same cooldown is beyond me from a game designer standpoint. Other cooldowns are way too long as well. This will likely be fixed, but still is incredibly disappointing as Strand does feel fun if you ignore these issues. Additionally, YOU DON’T UNLOCK STRAND UNTIL AFTER THE CAMPAIGN. Yes, you use it at times during it, but you can't make a build with it or anything. That would make the campaign so much more bearable if you could fly around on your grapple hook during the campaign, but they prohibit you from doing that for some reason. Bizarre choice.

    New location: 1/10. What was advertised to be a cyberpunk city instead feels like a bright wasteland. It is so incredibly empty. No citizens, hardly any enemies, it's just a bland futuristic dump that has no personality. You hardly even get to explore it until after the campaign. Whereas Savathun's throne world makes you uneasy and gives you suspense, the new location makes you want to open up a different game.

    Overall: 3/10. Incredibly disappointing campaign that leaves me worried for the climax of this story in Destiny. Although the combat is awesome and strand is fun (albeit limited currently), it can't make up for the nonsensical story I was told in the campaign. It tried to tell a lot of different stories at once (War story, Strand, setting up for the climax), but ended up leaving you with only questions. If you play Destiny for the content or combat, and just want to shoot guns, then you won’t be disappointed. However, if you are looking to get this for the campaign and new location to explore, I would consider a different game, or waiting for a sale, or some patches.    … Expand

    Witchqueen Story was much better, it has a lot of bugs again, little content, the difficulties in pve are unnecessary, pvp is still a disaster, all the nerfs in pve make the game boring. The new Super is really weak in Pve... The new exo weapons are really bad again

    One of the worst expansions this game has seen with wonky storytelling. 100$ down the drain for the the deluxe edition, buy the standard edition if you want to play the expansion and get the strand subclass.

    I am not a 10 year veteran but have close to 4000 hours in game combined between this platform and battlenet. This expansion is unfortunately nothing more than a seasonal story arc with a new subclass that isn't all that good. It was oversold but is underwhelming across the board, great job by the marketing team to be fair for the level of hype that was created. A lot of the "upgraded"I am not a 10 year veteran but have close to 4000 hours in game combined between this platform and battlenet. This expansion is unfortunately nothing more than a seasonal story arc with a new subclass that isn't all that good. It was oversold but is underwhelming across the board, great job by the marketing team to be fair for the level of hype that was created. A lot of the "upgraded" systems are actually not an upgrade but more of a dumbing down of the game. We haven't gotten any new PvP maps and only are seeing one new strike, where did the dev time go to? Overall disappointed but still holding out hope that the developer can make it right, this was their worst effort out o the box yet.… Expand

    Just another money grab by the bros at Bungie and the worst D2 ex pack ever (nice job Luke Smith). Strand is the best part and it is just so so...would have been better had one earned it in 30mins or less at the beginning vs grinding the entire campaign to get it.

    The broader shift to nickel and diming players at every chance has led to terrible quality and looking at us players as    Just another money grab by the bros at Bungie and the worst D2 ex pack ever (nice job Luke Smith). Calus (hyped up since D2 Vanilla character) is a -blam!- reskin of a colossus (standard cabal enemy you fought since 2014) And on second phase he's reskinned gladiatior. The plot doesn't make any sense, and what the **** is The Veil? Nothing makes sense, dialogue is idiotic and nimbus is cringiest piece of **** character ever written my god. People who wrote this story are 12 max… Expand

    If this campaign was related to Infinity War like Bungie claims:

    We don't know what the infinity stones are, who Thanos really is, what is true motives are, we don't know what the stones do, we don't know why we have to stop Thanos from getting it, we don't know what happens if he does. There is no story here. I am worried about the future of this game. This DLC sucks. I wish I could refund it.

    There's no doubt that Lightfall is not the best expansion, but it's far from being the worst, thankfully. If I had to formulate it, it's the arithmetic average of Beyond Light and The Witch Queen. We're used to Bungie going back and forth like a Mehter Company, which is exactly why I haven't given up hope for The Final Shape.
