Demon Tides will be an adventure for those new to platformers or an old-hand. With a compelling story, accessible gameplay and a challenge regardless of which mode you’re on, there’s so much available for everyone to discover.

Demon Tides is a true love letter to the genre, joining the ranks with its own distinctive visual style. It’s fun, full of challenges, and mind-boggingly chaotic. Sure, the chat is a little questionable at times, but everything else you’d want from a 3D platformer is here. Ambitious and delightful.

Nobody comes to platformers for the story, they come to them for joy of play – and Demon Tides is nearly pure mechanical joy. It’s a geyser of creativity and passion that ennobles the genre. There are flaws, but they’re very hard to see from the heights this game reaches the vast majority of the time. Anybody with any interest in jumping and/or collecting should leap, not walk, to the digital storefront.

Demon Tides rocks, combining chill and unique expressive platforming mechanics with an absolutely magnetic cast of characters, some great art, and an overall sense of style all its own.

Demon Tides is an excellent 3D platformer, easily one of the best in years thanks to its expansive, colorful worlds, variety of challenges that require putting its extensive moveset to full use, bonuses and extras, and even an incredibly likeable cast. Beebz seems like she could be a '90s mascot-with-attitude refugee, but she knows when to turn it off, and the fact that it's clear she actually likes and appreciates her friends makes her attitude fun rather than obnoxious. Cutscenes are never long enough to feel like an interruption to the gameplay, letting them be rewards between one stretch of platforming and the next. There's even a button dedicated to pointing out the nearest collectible, meaning you can focus on the challenge of acquiring it rather than scouring every inch of the level for that one last pickup. Like all Demon Turf's tools, how you use it is up to you, so if you want a vicious challenge or a guided tour, that's your call. There are enough movement modifiers that even the most difficult sections can be made possible with a little perseverance, putting Beebz and her crew that much closer to successfully platforming their way through their newest adventure.

There’s not a lot to unpack here. The story is pretty simple, the dialogue gets kind of corny, and the premise is equally stripped down. But this game shines so bright once you actually start playing. You’ve got a host of amazing moves to master. The controls are perfectly fluid and responsive. Plus, the level design is the perfect vessel for mastering said moves. Chaining together skills feels amazing, while traversing the world is speedy and satisfying. Demon Tides is a pure 3D platformer, with little in the way of fat or gristle. All that means is you’ve got nothing between you and all that unfiltered action. Better yet, there’s so much to experience once you start. If you’re looking for the next amazing 3D platformer, Demon Tides should be at the very top of your list.

Demon Tides exceeded almost all of my expectations for this 3D platformer. The mechanics are tight and sound, with a great level of customization to modify our moveset in unique ways that cater to how we want to play. The open world and player-driven exploration make finding islands with platforming challenges more engaging, while the rewards for completing these were worthwhile and motivating. There are some minor issues here and there, but none of them take away from how well-built the game is.

Whether you’re traversing massive buildings, meeting new characters, unlocking cosmetics and gear, or just exploring the open seas, Demon Tides demands the attention of any 3D platforming fan. Demon Tides is a rewarding 3D platformer with fast, tight mechanics and exceptional level design, just waiting to be mastered.

Demon Tides is a 3D platformer that'll be hard to top in 2026, with exquisite movement, tons of variety, and so many ways to kit out Beebz.

Even when I struggled to find a Golden Gear, I didn’t really mind that much since I knew it just meant spending extra time in Demon Tides’ moreish open world. The platforming is best-in-class, the characters and world left more of a mark than I expected, and Fabraz somehow managed to make going open-world seem both effortless and obvious. If the second game in the series is this good, I’m already counting down the days until the third.

Old-timey fun, Demon Tides fills a long-awaited spot: an adventure/platforming game who understand its genre and zeitgeist. An hidden gem.

An excellent 3D platformer that rather than just trying to copy Nintendo has plenty of ideas of its own, with some thrilling freeform action.

What makes this game special is personality and freedom. It trusts you to push its systems. It rewards curiosity. It lets you look at a distant structure and decide how you want to approach it, not how the designer expected you to.

Demon Tides is a masterclass in movement. Chaining jumps, glides and wallruns together with such ease is exemplary and deserves recognition. The only downside is that there's often stretches of more empty feeling "open world" between the highlights of platforming excellence. However, as a complete package, there's no doubt Demon Tides is a must for platformer fans.

Although it features camera issues and some strange artistic choices, Demon Tides is a good example of a sequel that refines the potential of a previous entry while adding even more personality on top. The open world enhances the overall experience, there are plenty of abilities to unlock, and numerous islands to explore. All of this is paired with gameplay that isn’t afraid to challenge the player’s skills, rewarding those who take risks with daring jumps and make the most of the mechanics the game has to offer.

Following the success of Demon Turf, Demon Tides expands on the 2.5D's formula in an ambitious pirate-themed 3D adventure that captures the wow factor of going from the fifth to the sixth generation of video game releases.

There’s a lot to love about Demon Tides. Maybe it takes some time for the uninitiated to grasp Beebz’s moveset and, sure, it’s a little lacking in its combat department, but when you’re locked into exploring, jumping around and performing sick moves, it’s a treat. It’s so easy to enter some sort of platforming flow state when Ragnar’s Rock is built like a playground for expressive movement. Lean into the chaos, chase the schmovment, and you will absolutely get swept up in the joy of styling your way across Ragnar’s Rock as the little Beebz.

Demon Tides invites me to a sunny vibes open world filled with platforming islands to master, and allows me to build my own kit of platforming vibes to break them apart. At times, a bit more structure would be appreciated, especially when it comes to progression, but otherwise the looseness is all part of the charm for this super slick jumper. Demon Tides has easily become a high watermark in my 3D platformer pantheon.

Demon Tides is a confident leap into open world design for Fabraz, delivering fluid, expressive 3D platforming that makes exploration across Ragnar's Rock consistently rewarding. While its comedic storytelling and boss encounters struggle to leave a lasting impression, the core movement system, generous player freedom, and smart difficulty balance make it a standout for genre fans who value mechanical depth over narrative flair.

Demon Tides manages to balance both style and substance extremely well. While there are some minor issues with the presentation, controls, and exploration, the expressive character designs, charming narrative, fantastic soundtrack, and gameplay that emphasizes player choice above all else are enough to offset these issues. This is a great, must-play 3D platformer, regardless of your interest in the genre.

Despite some technical issues, I had a great time with Demon Tides, from my first double jump to my last spin rush. The beautiful world and fun character designs, the amount of customisation to both move set and character appearance, as well as the bumping soundtrack, mostly made up for any frustrations and metaphorical skinned knees I went through.
