The once grown up game DS1 and DS2 has turned in to a childish game. Yes there where still shock elements but they where always based on the same principal with the exception of the outside snow part.

Anyway the only thing that i did enjoy was that all the crap that annoyed me was wrapped in to a awesome graphical and sound effects. That something i have to say very impressive!

I liked to play the game however its another disappointment to see how a game starts off awesome and then gets taken over and destroyed.

No more narrow passages but open terrains, slow but powerful necromorphs get replaced by fast yet easy to kill ones, and so on. Yet the sound design is still wonderful and the visuals are as good as you'd expect from the game, it feels more like a Dead Space meets Mass Effect due to its larger amount of weapons, enemies, bigger environments and more characters, none the less it's an enjoyable game, only not as good as Dead Space one and two. You can customize your weapons in all possible ways and there is more action. To get the most of the game I recommend playing in 3D. Although 3D Vision rates this game poor in terms of 3D compatibility, you can enjoy almost perfect 3D effects with Helix tweak. Games like this are "born" to be played in 3D. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I love the Dead Space franchise. The first game was something special. I enjoy films like Aliens, Event Horizon, The Thing etc. It was nice to see a developer be so inspired by those films and atmospheres. The second one took it a step further and was brilliant. The first game had horror. The second game had terror. The third game? Well lets just say its action. I understand how a developer can't do more of the same but why the hell can't they at least PUSH the envelope and make the action meld with more horror? A good example is the Awakened DLC. Now the enemies in that game were horror! throw those in 3 with the bloody necromorphs from the first two games and I really wouldn't have had any problem. The problem though is adding the crouching, shooting gallery mechanics and bum rushing enemies that block corridors. It really broke the game for me. Not to mention lack of exploration this time round. Sure we go through many environments but its mostly backtracking. I liked the space parts the most but the rest of it was pretty lacking. I was also annoyed *SPOILER* that you don't get to go to the moon..instead you fight the moon. Really? now whole moons are bosses? that was the stupidest part of the whole game. What is this Mass Effect 3? Death Star? The boss just looked laughable though I liked the chaotic environment. Story was weak this time round..instead of Isaac worrying about his missing girlfriend we got Carver who has to be the worst companion character right next to Aliens: Colonial Marines companion. Guy has tourettes. I didn't even bother with the co-op. Finally the last gripe was the weapon crafting system. I utterly hated this. I miss the old weapons. Should have kept those and just allowed upgrades instead of crafting new weapons. Don't see the point? other then giving us some hard work to do. Breaks up the pacing and obviously was put in to keep the player from noticing the short levels. On the plus side some of the enemy designs were great (The DLC Awakened being the best), graphics are always top notch, sound design was good (though I noticed on headphones it veers towards the left side...a bug?) ----------If your a fan of the series I recommend it and the DLC Awakened is brilliant up until the silly ending. I don't really know where else they can take it. I am so tired of those monsters attack the Earth plot lines.. 7/10 Expand

Never played DS1 or DS2. However, I read the plots and watched the movies before going into Dead Space 3. I'm one of those random few (apparently) that actually enjoy games like RE5, LP2 and BL2. In short, I'm a coop whore. If you're not, good for you and this review is not for you. I've already completed the game with a friend and I will say that as a coop game, DS3 is a good game. In short, I'm a coop whore. If you're not, good for you and this review is not for you. I've already completed the game with a friend and I will say that as a coop game, DS3 is a good game. The visuals are pretty intense and I don't even want to know what the texture budget was. There are some minor plot holes and some surprises, but I couldn't help feeling that some of the plot seemed ripped out of the Mass Effect or Halo series. Its got all the hallmarks of a "massive race intent on harvesting all life and wiping the galaxy clean". Its passable for a single game but it leaves one to wonder how it will damage the series as a whole. As for gameplay, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Coop partner and I would cover each other through many events. The coop missions, which have one player hallucinating and seeing out-of-place objects, was a very nice touch. "Dude, do you see the presents and birthday cake!?" "Um... no... I see a crate... with blood on it. Its like every other crate we've seen" "So you don't also see the big banner that says 'happy birthday'?" "Nope." It is a conversation I will not soon forget. As far as the bench system is concerned, it is a nice touch but I found myself wanting more suit upgrades. The weapons are very customizable but the suits upgrade are pretty basic. For anyone wondering, the suits themselves are cosmetic only and have no effect on the game. Suit upgrades transfer between suits automatically. The one downside of the bench system is that in coop games, one partner may find themselves waiting on the other. A more user friendly interface for the bench (showing all upgrade menus, etc.) at once would've streamlined the process.

I will admit that the space interior and exterior environments in the first half of the chapters were the best in the game. Aside from the fact that half of the crew must have spent most of their lives in the many elevators (loading screens) in the game, it all felt connected and that you were actually in a game world. The planet side chapters often felt disconnected even though there was no clear cut-off or drop-in moment aside from when you arrive. I could have done without the rappel mountain sequences. If they would have made the entire game take place in space, I wouldn't have minded.

As far as difficulty (on normal), in coop it didn't seem insurmountable except for one long occasion in the second to last chapter when waves of enemies pour in. However, that same room/environment is reused three times in that chapter so the attack doesn't come as a surprise. The last chapters reuse a lot of the environment and feels a little rushed.

For the record, I was also not a fan of the last boss. It seemed nearly identical to the last boss in Mass Effect 2. Big boss, weak points, and done. I don't want to penalize the entire game though for one weak boss considering I was pleased with a majority of the game.

For this PC version, I will say I'm not a fan of Origin but it isn't very bothersome in this game and I've learned to loathe it less. EA has made some good strides in recent years, but they seem to be spending too much on games and betting too much at the Craps table. That argument applies to Dead Space 3 as well. The game has incredibly high productions values, but it makes you wonder where they could have walled the garden a bit more and spent less. Betting that your game will sell more than five million copies to turn a profit is a tough sell. I hope they will continue with their plans for a Dead Space 4 (albeit reign it in) and retain coop but only time will tell.

I am looking forward to working my way through pure survival mode next in coop.

I think this is probably the best Dead Space game in the series. I liked the story line, the graphics, and the challenging aspects of the game. Yet, I can understand the negative reviews, because I have had similar problems with all of the Dead Space games: e.g, you can't walk fast or jump, the weapons are especially wimpy, the lags in the action, etc. Still, I recommend this game highly.

It's a mix of EVENT HORIZON, THE THING AND ALIEN RIDLEY SCOTT. I take back anything stupid that I said about this game. Is unique. There is a variety of levels and Gameplay modes. Playing on IMPOSSIBLE is really hard. If you don't go for the farming glitch. But even with the farming itens glitch it is still a great expectation.

There are a lot of people who just heard what another people talked about this game and they just took their conclusions without any chances.

I think the DEMO didn't make any justice on this one.

    I loved.

There are lots of homages to THE THING (the movie with Kurt Russell) I just love it.

Very immersive and graphics on PC VERSION are something like NEXT GEN. If you turn off your V SYNC ON in game and turn it on NVIDIA or ATI control panel you will see how good is that. FRAME RATE is everything. The story is passable, but it doesn't interfere at all on your immersion.

I just loved the variety of stuff that you can do, and the craft weapons are pretty good though.

The best thing is to play this SOLO. CO OP seems to be pretty easy and takes off every exile sensation that we had on DS1 and DS2.

The fact you had to shoot off their limbs was a brilliant twist that required a higher level of focus. You couldn't just blast away. The kinesis and stasis features/weapons were also innovative and added a new twist to gaming. DS2 was nice continuation with some good additions to both story line and features. DS3, as is so typical, just couldn't keep up with the first and second parts of the trilogy. It is a very good game, but the story line is contrived, the alien monsters just aren't as scary, and quite frankly, the game is pretty easy compared to the first and second. Monsters have become more alien/mutant in nature, and thus lose the human aspect that made them so terrifying to begin with. The genre has essentially changed from survival/horror to action/third person shooter. To say that the game was not scary is a serious overstatement. It is NOT a horror game, but tries to sell as one. -1 for extremely terrible and unimaginative plot. The amount of brilliance and resources invested into the creation of this story is painfully mediocre, and makes me feel as if this game wasn't design to win "game of the year" but to rake in more money by flying on the tailwind of the series. Not only is the storytelling quality "just bad", the characters are extremely bland and generic. Absolutely nothing unique or interesting about any of them. Nothing memorable. -1 for AWFUL audio. In general. I should make a strong point here. The choice of sound for the monsters is not very... complementary. Something that's supposed to be scary, intimidating, or at least somewhat threatening should not be making gurgling fish noises. Also, many times monsters won't make any initial sounds upon spawning; they were designed to sneak up on you as silently as possible and then make their presence known when you turn around. The choice of music was also quite absurd, and would have been inappropriate for the game regardless of whether or not it was an action or a horror genre.
-1 for repetitive, unoriginal, and at times, boring environment. There's a lot of blood to go around, that was present in both DS1 and DS2. But DS3 presents it in a way that isn't scary AT ALL. It's as if the exact same blood splatter trail was used every time a body was supposedly dragged across the room.

IN CONCLUSION: As an action game, it isn't the worst I've ever seen. It tries really hard to mimic Mass Effect and Halo. The weapons customization feature was somewhat enjoyable. Overall, this was a very unimpressive experience.

This once again proved that EA is a bunch of no talent developers taking orders from up high and just keep making ****ty games like this. All the high scores reviews are paid by EA. Please stop buying their game, this company never listen to it's customer and just keep coming up with new ways to suck your money. Expand

I played and loved Dead Space 1 and 2, and this game is awful. A bland, generic shooter that should not have any relation with the previous titles. If you enjoy shooters with unlimited supplies, there are better options that do not advertise themselves as a sequel to a survival horror franchise.

I played Dead Space 1 and 2 and as far as I'm concerned, this is a great 3rd installment. I'm now replaying it on "Survival" mode and enjoying it.

I liked the differences between this game and the others making my own weapons, upgrading them with different circuit boards and attatchments. I think this 3rd Dead Space game needed changes otherwise it would just be the same formula all over again. Seems to me the developers did a smashing job of keeping what was really great about the other 2 games and adding in new aspects.

There were more problems than usual with some glitches, like not being able to pick up ammo or some other things. I recommend not getting the voice "personalities" for the bots it gets really annoying after a while and it's like they never shut up sometimes.

Considering they made this game in 2 years, compared to Aliens: Colonial Marines" five years well, they did an amazing job. And the Co-op is well implemented thanks Visceral for another great effort, much appreciated !

Story was okay for me, ending too this is one of the best games I've played this year not sure what people are complaining about. I wonder sometimes if some gamers are becoming way way too demanding and critical jeepers Stop the whining and enjoy this game already :D

I enjoyed the game. It's a must have in my opinion. Worth the price. Co-op is nicely implemented. If you're a fan of the series then this should definitely be included in your collection.

I'm not impressed, but then again, I didn't expect to be. The first took you down dark corridors with creatures lurking in the darkness waiting to pounce that added a feeling of uneasiness to the player making them want to go slow. The second took us to a fast pace almost run and gun scenario with a stronger story. This one, well, it takes it to the end if you can call it that. You'll beg for something to happen for the first half of the game. It is terribly slow and borderline Call of Duty. The second half is where the action is along with the story, but sadly by the time you get to it (if you get to it) you're spent of all emotion just begging the game to hurry up and get to the point. This is a love it or hate it game. Expand

Its emphasis on the action element might be a nuisance to some of the franchise’s fans, but the game’s production values in every aspect will reward even the most doubtful gamer. [March 2013]

Dead Space 3 brings refreshing gameplay options without sacrificing the gritty, believable universe, but scares are few and far between. [Apr 2013, p.92]

Finishing a trilogy was always going to need bigger explosions and greater stakes – unfortunately this has come at the sacrifice of true horror.
