An overall beautifully made game, couldn't ask for more out of a game. Out of any of the "Dead Space" series this has to be the best, keep it up EA, can't wait for Dead Space 4!

Sound: Top notch voice acting, creepy themes during gameplay, great soundtrack. 10. Gameplay: Like Dead Space 1 only 10x better. Scripted events are crazier than ever. Newer guns to mess around with, melee has been updated and is much better. The zero gravity is now all free flight which looks fantastic. This is the best horror game I have ever played, tops

Story: The story continues with the main protagonist Isaac Clark, and I don’t want to spoil anything but I enjoyed it from start to finish, it’s always moving forward, and keeps the player strived to continue playing. 10.

A step up from the first Dead Space. The controls are fluid and responsive. Graphic are crisp and look amazing. The only downside that I had was it felt more like a running and gunning game instead of a horror game. Sure there are moments that made me jump, but not many. Takes the original and builds on it, especially on the character of Isaac who was previously the silent faceless hero you projected yourself upon. Mechanics-wise there's not a huge leap forward but the game works, so it didn't need a complete change.

Absolutely fantastic game! One of the best survival/horror games of all time definitely. Good story, strong scare factor, character development (yes glad Isaac talks in this one cos it gives a more in depth view of his persona) and lot's of fun.

Visceral introduces some new gameplay elements, for example zero gravity floating, general improvements. As for the story, it's a little worse. I had a harder time following the story. It took me over 10 hours, closer to 13. Disappointingly, the game seems to challenge you by throwing endless waves of monsters at you. It's cheap and annoying. The same technical problems from the first game exist in DS2. Vsync runs at 30 fps, must force vsync externally to play at 60 fps. Also, Origin in-game overlay is incompatible with FXAA injectors and programs like Afterburner and D3DOverrider. EA is too lazy to fix these big problems. Not quite DS2, but still a great game. It did everything right that Resident Evil 5 failed to deliver and improved on the well done things from the first Dead Space. Replayability is there because of the good survival horror gameplay. Multiplayer is a fail. The idea was good but poorly executed. Visuals and Sound are superb but the german voice is horrible.

I'm not an easy fan of the horror genre. I prefer horror games a bunch over horror movies, simply because I like to have control over how I deal with certain fears. Putting out your lantern and hiding behind a barrel could easily get you further or stocking up on herbs and ammo was basically the key to survival although the atmosphere was top notch, the game failed to scare toy on the moments you least expected it to do so. In "Dead Space 2" however, I do believe I shat my pantaloons multiple times in rapid succession before the first hour even passed. Maybe it's a beat of the classic steam blow and sudden explosion that made me jump like crazy, but the fear you get when four enemies come screaming and clawing towards you is terrifying at its highest level. You often need tactics, but you panic, and therefore you create an extra difficulty that hides within the human mind itself. The visuals look great, the story is immersive, and the space ship feels believable. A top notch horror game that definately is my favorite of its genre. 9/10 Expand

The madness is what is the most disturbing part aside from the continuation of the necromorphs.

The game, which I played on Survivalist, was especially challenging toward the end particularly since it was my first play through. The reason this does not get a 10 is that I hit a bug at the very end that prevented me from saving, using the bench and the store and had Isaac stuck in sight mode, making it impossible to run and I needed I say NEEDED to be able to access the store and it also altered the saved game to leave me with the resources that I finished the level with instead of what I started with (only a dozen rounds total and a hell of a bunch of hard rooms to run through) and I ended up just finishing it in casual so I could finish the story and not go through those god awful rooms with no resources.

This is a great series and a really well constructed story. This game has an excellent balance of action, loneliness and madness and progresses it logically to the much more action oriented Dead Space 3.

(There are still some problems with camera angles when boxed into a corner but these are an irritation rather than a deal breaker.) DS2 also handles zero gravity in a far more intuitive, and enjoyable way, with none of the crazy hopping from one surface to another as in the first game. Now you can move freely, as you would expect. Also improved in DS2 is Isaac’s level of interaction. Now he speaks! This actually improves the experience more than might be expected, as it gives a greater sense that you’re involved in an unfolding story. The graphics are above average quality though not outstanding. The gameplay is improved by the introduction of more varied environments (although this is still very much a corridor shooter), and there are still plenty of tense moments when battling with enemies, some of which will be familiar if you played DS1, and some of which are new. When compared with the original DS2 is basically more of the same but with a number of welcome improvements and enhcncements. On a final note: I found it a little easier than the first, but that might be because of the improved controls and my familiarity with the gameplay second time around. Anyhoo, there’s still plenty of nerve-jangling fun to be had. Recommended, especially if you liked the original.

Some of the new enemies will swarm you in a pack, some will charge at you, and some are just overwhelmingly massive, but all present a fun challenge. What really amazes me is that Dead Space 2 still managed to maintain an incredible story. You’ll truly despise some of the characters, but also pray that others survive the necromorph massacre. The story is generally good and kept me engaged. The combat is satisfying, if a little pretentious and the HUD is very effective at drawing you in and keeping you immersed. Now, the bashing. Despite its pretensions; DS2 is not a proper horror game. I've always said that the best horror games will make players doubt what they can see, and fear what they cannot see. Dead Space 2 has meets neither of those requirements; there is a sub-plot involving hallucinations, but it has little effect on the gameplay and is only really there for cheap scares. The monsters you fight in the game lack any form of subtlety and will display themselves in full illumination; the opening scene especially being a perfect example of this game's lack of subtlety. Another niggling issue is the save points: you save your progress at different "save stations" dotted throughout the levels; not only are they out-of-place but they also ruin the immersion that the game tries so hard to achieve. This game is extremely long (10 hours) in proportion to how many ideas it has and would have benefited with having 5 of those chopped off of to make it less flabby. On top of that, the game isn't even that scary and will often throw buckets of gore and blood in your face in an attempt to scare you. So the biggest problem with DS2 is that it just can't decide what it's trying to be; switching between splattery gory action and morbid sentimentalism and creating jarring tonal shifts. Dead Space 2 is not a bad game: I don't deny that it is still quite fun to play, but it completely misses the point of what horror is about and while non-horror fans will probably be on the edge of their seat, those used to proper atmosphere are in for a bit of a flop. On a side note, I'm glad Visceral fixed that awful mouse movement from DS1. If you want a proper horror game, download "Slender"; if that doesn't scare you, nothing will. Expand

I'm anxiously awaiting dead space 3, probably the only thing I'll ask for my birthday next year. Controls improved over previous dead space. excellent pacing. I thought a few times, oh **** if something jumps out now I'm going to have a heart attack ... lol awesome.

However, it is not a game for children or pre-teens; parents you've been warned. It is a seething, brooding, merciless, shameless descent into a rich sci-fi backdrop of dark agendas and disastrous consequences. Imagery ranges from beautiful panoramic vistas of a sprawling outer-solar system pressurized metropolitan habitat, to grotesquely violent and spattering deaths of enemies, NPCs, and players alike. It's actually fun to die in this game just to see the gory results. This game does a good job of inventing futuristic ways to kill your character; if you can stomach the gore, the satisfyingly painful, squishy death scenes can help take some of the frustration out of having to replay an encounter. The graphics may not present many groundbreaking advanced render techniques, but they do the job well and help to create deeply immersing environments. Audio production is top notch; ambiance is moody and atmospheric, and monster noises are visceral and unnerving. The musical score is done right, and enhances the tension and thrills. While the audio environment significantly aids the game's ability to create these thrills, I found the visual appearance of the monsters themselves to be not all that scary. Maybe a lifetime of desensitization by exposure to modern horror movies containing disfigured mutants and copious amounts blood-spilling and dismemberment explains my lack of fear, and as a result I am no longer able to be scared by monsters on both the silver screen and the computer screen. Don't get me wrong, the monsters look good, and the dismemberment mechanic employed as the way to dispatch them never gets old (blowing them to pieces sure is fun), but whenever I encountered a new variety of enemy, my "just kill it" mentality over-rid my "cower in fear" reaction in a nano-second. That applies to all enemies except one... end mini-boss whom you can't kill and can only slow by shooting his limbs off and running before his legs regenerate. He is visually intimidating in a spine-tingling kind of way, and and as I watched him rise like the phoenix after I thought I had killed him, he created the first and only true "f*** me! RUN!" moment of the game that I experienced... which was awesome! Also very good is the level design. The environments are, yes, entirely linear, but are varied and interesting while managing to avoid repetitiveness. They range from frantic chases and extreme escapes, to claustrophobic and plodding corridor crawls, to monster-closet arena defenses. All of them fit the thematic elements of the game. They just make sense. Actually, there is nothing that doesn't make sense about this game... except the DRM (3 installs then I have to beg EA for more? That's pathetic customer service). I didn't delve into multiplayer much, but it is there and it is similar to Left 4 Dead's versus mode, which all I can say about it. The game length is just right; not to short, not too long. I finished it in about 15 hours exploring as much as I could and, importantly, I wasn't begging for it to end like I was in other games, such as the new Deus Ex (that game seemed like it would never end). However, like all story-driven singleplayer adventures, the replayability is VERY limited. All in all, it is a very well produced and gripping single player experience, and continues laying the groundwork for a lush sci-fi universe kicked off by the original. Solid 7/10. Expand

Secondly we have more weapons, like the awesome Javelin Gun. Having more weapons gives more diversity in gameplay and playstyle options. Thirdly the control of the character feels a bit easier than in the first game. It's easier to run, shoot, and generally manoeuvre around. Fourthly, the game feels more engaging. We have more unique situations and different things happening, like when having to quickly get away from a powerful creature, or I can certainly never forget the fantastic train scene fairly early on in the game, or even the smaller things, such as interacting with creatures or having to quickly shut off a breach and stop everything being sucked into space. Fifthly, I found Dead Space 2 somewhat more intense and scarier than the first game. Sure, it's still not exactly deathly scary or anything, but a few moments are definitely bound to make you jump or feel cautious to carry on. I liked the customization of different armor suits as well. They actually all have different bonuses rather than simply being upgrades from the previous one, like in the first game. All in all I generally felt that Dead Space 2 was a step in the right direction for the series. Some parts still do need an improvement, like the puzzles are still nothing special, just as with the first game, but in every other regard DS2 did better. Even the story was somewhat more interesting. Expand

the balancing is great, it always felt "hard enough" and never got boring or repetitive, which is kind of a hard thing to accomplish in these kind of games. the endgame was pretty hard, which perfectly fitted the story (hero struggling to survive), and - no spoilers - the final moments are quite a masterpiece of story-telling.

This game reminds me a lot of titles from Valve - plot is readily available but most fulfilling to users who explore the game and collect and read items. The backstory is great, this series has a great horror plot that is easy to embrace and understand, while at the same time approaching horror with an equal sci-fi element.
Gameplay is fantastic. One of my biggest criticisms is how the weapons are not balanced - some weapons are meaningful the entire game and others are underpowered and never see a chance to shine. Graphics are great- lighting and shaders have been excellent on my PC (I do have a good PC). Audio is excellent, theres a lot of ambient sounds, zombie effects are diverse, and I love how the weapon effects scale up with how you upgrade them.
Comparing PC to 360... the controls on PC (mouse + keyboard) are a bit hard to get used to. I personally use the 360 controller on my PC and it plays wonderfully. Graphics on the PC are superior, and overall I enjoy it more. There is a bug with full screen graphics, but I was able to work around this by playing in windowed mode with my gameplay resolution maxed. I give this game a 10/10. The replay is great, the overall presentation is excellent. Multiplayer is actually worthwhile, (unusual for a single player game) and I just love this game. Personal opinions aside, this game could potentially receive a 9/10 from me but I love sci-fi and this game truly captures the spirit of the genre.

When i finished them. But when i got my copy of Dead Space 2, I was pretty sure it will be good as the previous game - Dead Space 1... I was wrong. It was a whole new experience! lets take a closer look at what we got in this title: GAMEPLAY: The gameplay in Dead Space 2 is much smoother than the previous Dead Space 1 game. Weapons variety and Upgrades improved a lot, and the game is much more PC friendly than Dead Space 1. You will experience lots of "heart attack" due to psychedelic scenarios as you proceed with the game. The game is never boring, You will always try to guess the next ambush from the infected which are not "stupid" and slow-moving like zombies, most of them, will sprint towards you like you awe them money! SOUND: Probably one of the best PROS in this game. As you play, you always hear "something. somewhere", it can be quiet for couple moments and then all of the sudden roaring monster behind you. you will need to be alert all the time! GRAPHICS: This is a main CON of this game. Although GODFATHER Engine is improved, Dead Space 2 displays a decent graphic with but with lots of details though. vomit, monster-puke, and monster-body--part-tearing will be a common thing. Unlike many Zombie/Infected games, shooting the head NOT always helps. CONCLUSION: One of my top 5 of all times. A total king in his genre. You. Will. Be. Scared. I Promise you. Expand

I just uninstalled it, exclaiming, "Oh for Christ's sake!" Even with the patch, the controls are not fully implemented for PC, so Mouse 4 and Mouse 5 are unassignable for some actions.

This game is fond of removing camera control from the player to show set pieces and other animations. This is disorienting in third person (why is this third person?). The FOV is around 65 degrees, designed for a TV, and it can't be changed. This may make some people nauseated, especially with the weird revolutions of the third person camera. Movement itself is extremely clunky. There is no crouching or jumping. You cannot hop over a coffee table or low couch.

This is quite literally a shooter on rails--you can illuminate the paths to objectives, save stations (there is no traditional or quick saving), and "stores" where you buy guns. These are all on the exact same paths.

Most of the monsters and other NPCs do not actually inhabit the game world, but are triggered to spawn as you travel a pre-defined path through corridors. The monsters will spawn through otherwise inaccessible doors right behind you or from ceiling panels above. Since monsters do not inhabit the game world, tactical approaches are futile. Clearing a room, for instance, nets you nothing because monsters can spawn wherever they are scripted to appear. All the combat I saw was extremely close quarters, necessitating a bullet time system where you press a button and then shoot monsters in slow motion.

The environments were rendered well for the againg consoles it was designed for, but they do not evince any actual place. It feels more like you are thrust into an interminable series of gerbil tubes, albeit ones rigged with monster boxes.

All in all, this game gives you very little freedom to play how you want to play. It is kind of like Disneyland's Haunted House ride, where you are escorted along to see a show, but you aren't really a participant. You are an observer with the illusion of participation, but the illusion is weak.

If there is anything negative to be said about this game is that it's a little short - I think I finished it in six or seven hours on normal difficulty, and that if you've played the first game, then scares are a little familiar - if you've seen one Necromorph playing dead only to jump up at you when you walk nearby then you've seen them all, though having said that; it still made me jump a bunch of times - the screaming children are f***ing terrifying. The first Dead Space introduced a limited number of well-designed encounters, with a few weapons to balance your progression. DS2 is a tougher game, but is also more modular, with greater variance in player agency in the campaign. Some of the most visceral reactions I had to this game were simply the empowerment one feels after upgrading a weapon (For me, the Javelin gun was hands-down the most powerful with the alt-fire) and feeling untouchable........I do have to bring up the misguided attempt at quick-time sequences/scripted sequences. At times, the game reminds me of Contra or Gradius, with rote memorization rearing its ugly head. This is one of my least favorite trends in narrative gaming at the moment...so, please Visceral, CEASE AND DESIST with any all encounters (Everyone who has played knows of the few I speak of) that are essentially a shooting gallery. Trust your sound design. Trust that we are unnerved by the anticipation of a fair fight by the fantastic lighting and signature noises emitted. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Screams, Shattered Dreams, and Repetition. Once again it appears that Visceral tried way too hard. Dead Space 2 felt like it lacked the improvement that a sequel should have. Although the mouse movement system was improved that was about it. They still felt the need to turn off lights, have stuff pop out when you walk near, and use consistent loops of screaming that are way to frequent for "scary" ambiance. They once again tried way too hard to frighten the player that it got to the point that it once again became laughable after the first few attempts because they were still too predicable. Although i got the game at a discount on steam i still do not think it was worth it. If they are going to pretend that these console/pc games are full sized then they need to start making decent sized areas. Also just like the Cortana visions in Halo 3 the visions in here were just as annoying. I am still hoping for a solid horror/ action game that does not feel the need to try frighten you every time you do something. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Another game in my GOTY lists, Dead Space 2 is what everyone wanted. The controls were fixed and better than before, the game had way more weapons and customization abilities than the previous game had. The new multiplayer aspect in the game delivers, but it just seems a tad unbalanced at times.
I don't think you can protect yourself against the baby aliens in multiplayer that round around you endlessly while slapping you with their hands until you die. It's just horrible that EA didn't fix that yet, since players have no way to defend themselves against that.
As before, the story is great, and doesn't disappoint. The ending was also pretty funny (if you've played DS1, that is, or else you won't understand the subtle joke).
It was also very nostalgic to visit the Ishimura for one more time. The areas where you get memories also got me as I said **** when the monster from DS1 grabs you and pummels you to the floor, and then you find out it was just a hallucination, a memory.
Get this game if you're a fan of FPS and TPS games. If you want it more for the story, I would say you should wait for a sale so the game gets cheaper, because it might disappoint you.

Sure, there are plenty of jump out of the closet scares, but I would NOT call this a survival horror game, simply because you're a walking gun cabinet. Necromorphs end up falling apart after a few credits are spent on upgrades. But for the most part, watching your enemies being torn to shreds compensates for those false claims. The hardest thing for me is to identify any faults. If I had to complain about anything, it would be the multiplayer. Although it looks good on paper, I found it to be very dry and uninteresting, as if Visceral missed a few key elements in designing it. All in all, the singleplayer alone is still worth the $60 I paid.

Well Dead Space 2 has got more of it, First of all, they fixed the camera, which was irritating in the first game, the controlls are 10x better.. The atmosphere is awesome, one of the best survival-horrors i've experienced so far, the game length is really good, you have to put some effort and time to finish it, and + it also includes a multiplayer mode. Graphics are good, i mean texturing and the modellings are good.. Animations are so realistic.. but i am not going to compare the graphics with more high-end pc games.. The good thing is i've not encountered any bug or some other performance issue while playing. But i would have expected more stuff since Dead Space 1. It is kinda new storyline DLC for Dead Space 1, not a major improvement i saw. But definitely it is worth your money. Expand

The sound is very well done, sets the mood nicely and adds very well to the horror effect. . Neutral: The graphics were good but nothing that makes one go wow ! On your first play through you will take about 7-10 hours to complete the game but if you enjoyed it you will want to play again on higher difficulty, hardcore mode or carry over your weapons to a new game and fully upgrade everything so the game can have decent-ish replayability but there are other games that give much more longevity Cons: The game's story while being okay could have been far more imaginative and had some unclear segments. The zero gravity sequences in the game could have implemented in a better manner making them more fun and interesting. The game is simply not as scary as i thought it would be. A game that overall does very well but each individual aspect of the game isn't anything groundbreaking, except some aspects of the game play are something new and refreshing. 8.5/10. Expand

Dead Space 2 is a great sequel to the original Dead Space, it's action has improved, it's weapons have improved, and most of all it's story. And i must say he is sometimes quite humorous, but this doesn't ruin the gruesome and horrorific mood of the story, so rest asure that it will still will be creepy and scary, so you will stay on toes on every step you take in the game. Another thing that improved is the Necromorphs (the monsters) which is bad news for the players. There are 7 new Necromorphs in the game that will have running for your mommy. And for players new to the game, he is alittle advice for your first fight with a Necromorph, aim for the limbs. And if you run out of your precious ammo, the start using objects in the enviroment using telekensis. And if all else fails start swinging and stomping. Conserving ammo is a big deal in this game if you wish to survive the hordes of Necromorphs and escape, unless you have alot of credits (in-game money) to buy ammo. Overall this game is a great game, and should not be missed out by "survival / Horror" genera gamers and Dead Space fans. This game will have clenching your controller and sitting on the edge of your seat through the whole game. Dead Space 2 did not disappoint. SINGLEPLAYER. DS2 offers an amazing single player following the footsteps of Isaac Clarke and his deteriorating mental state. At no point of the game did I feel I had missed out in any essential plot having not played the first game with an informative short video recapping the events of the first game while creating a bit of atmosphere and preparing you for the horrors of DS2. The game is liner - This is your objective and this is the route you are going to take - usually this would annoy me however with DS2 I did not care. Instead I became engaged with the storyline, marveling at the graphics and taking in the dead space universe the way the game developers intended DP2 to. I believe this is a pro rather than a con, I can only imagine how frustrating the game could have become if you had to search every room, every corridor just to get the most out of the storyline and Electronic Arts and Visceral Games throw in enough surprises, weapons and upgrades to leave you not knowing exactly what is going to be around the corner. The game lasts a good 8-10 hours which is on par with most recent games and first person shooters however will not offer much in the way of re-playability. GRAPHICS. This game looks great. Yes it is third person but this only allows the player to truly admire the amount of detail and design placed on the models and world of DS2. I often found myself taking the game slow, admiring the breath taking world, the realistic movements and just how smooth everything looks. I was surprised when I discovered that the game was running Direct X9, not DirectX10 or 11 as I originally thought. This is no downfall however as the game looks on par, and even surpassing, other recent releases of 2011. GAMEPLAY. If you like Horror mixed together with Sci-Fi. Then DS2 is the game for you. If I was to compare it with any other game gameplay wise I would say its a mix of Fear2 meets Doom mashed together with a Zombie Science Fiction theme. The sounds of the game, as is with any other successful horror movie or game, makes DS2. Expect to take many breaks to calm your nerves as you slowly creep the blood spattered corridors to the sounds of screams and movements in the shadows. Sound and Graphics aside DS2 has a number of small additions and differences that set it aside from your average game. I love the fact that the flashlight is attached to your main weapons zoom function, Not only does this look the part as Issac quickly scans a room with his pulse rifle looking for threats, but it means that there is no separate button that you have to keep pushing in order to see anything. I hope that many other games in the future will follow DS2's footsteps in this regard. Another cool gameplay element is Isaacs ability to significantly slow enemies down with a well placed burst from his suits telekinesis. Useful for escaping or dodging that charging alien, Lining up that perfect killing shot or blowing off limbs. You will never get tired of using Telekinesis in game. The ability to spacewalk in Zero G really show off DS2's movement physics and visuals and is unlike any other game I have played. Another interesting feature which I enjoyed was the lack of a hud. Instead ammo is shown as a heads up display on the actual weapon, Important info and text logs are read as Isaac himself looks at it.
MULTIPLAYER. Reading the reviews on metacritic many people are criticizing DS2's multiplayer for being another L4D but in space. To this I respond: Whats wrong with that? L4D is an amazing game and a game style that I would love to see copied and DEVELOPED by a number of game company's. Unfortunately, while adding a number of new features to the L4D style game-play, such as; different mission objectives (from escaping to setting off a bomb), great graphics, Telekinesis, unlockable power-suits and weapons, killing moves from the 'infected' DS2 fails to capture the wow factor that L4D has, instead capturing a sort of... get to the objective, hold off as long as possible style. A slight disappointment considering how DS2 could have improved and developed the team co-op 'work together or die' L4D style but instead is considered by the majority a flop. Most players except the hardcore and dedicated will breeze over DS2's multiplayer, give up, and move onto the next major game. All in all, A great game. Intense graphics, a decent storyline, amazing sharp sounds and enough scares and fighting to keep even the most experienced gamer on their toes. I slight shame on the Multiplayer but good on EA and Visceral games for trying, however the single player more than makes up for the shortcomings of the multiplayer. A roller coaster of a ride and a must have buy for all Sci-Fi / Horror fans and a game that I feel justified in spending $50 to own.

Maybe more action-oriented than the first, but still scary and atmosphere based. Graphics are excellent although the engine's not the newest (therefore light and accessible to most rigs) and the light/shadows effects are always functional to the action progress and events.
If one liked the first, he'll definitely like the second despite (thanks to?) its "more spectacular" nature.
As for myself, the "satisfaction" and sense of fulfillment I felt after playing it made me register at metacritic and write these few lines. Was I to necessarily find a defect, I'd say it's a linear game with very little to no "non-enforced" exploration, but that lies in this game's nature itself.
I strongly suggest playing it hard (which is not the hardest level anyway): less would mean to deminish by a lot the constant anxiety and tension you feel throughout the whole game (basically its strong point) therefore spoiling the experience.

Atm there are no dedicated server (not sure if there will be) so your ping/latency is also 1 out of 4 bars or, 150 ping/latency +. So really, laggy. Very, Very, Very unbalance, between alien and player, which is also very frustrating some times as you spit crap at them 20 times and they can keep using pills or what ever the hell it is to recover back to full health, making your attempt to kill one player is futile. Controls are unresponsive which adds more frustration and including the lag makes the whole multiplayer experience stupid and boring.

Got to give this game a solid 8, would have been a 9 but they had me running around i'n a straight jacket for ages. My fault because i didn't notice the the help tip to beat the first nasty off me, but hell i'm vindictive. Joking aside, the games well worth the entry price and alot of your downtime.

Once again, Visceral show how to make a horror game, this time with a little more action, more variety of weapons and new monsters.
I'm not wrong if I said that, to fully enjoy the game, is necessary to play the hardcore mode, at least the normal mode with the highest difficulty.
I personally don't recommend any of the DLC (nor weapons, nor armors). Each power armor or power weapon costs

Each power armor or power weapon costs $0, not a good choice. But you're free to do whatever you want.
I'm not saying that DLC are bad, but in my opinion, I prefer new missions, for example.

Dead Space 2 is a great game in almost all aspects, too many hours of entertainment.
The menu is THE MENU, a lot of action, low ammo almost the entire game, new weapons, and powerful add-on.
Lastly, not less important, monsters, a lot of them. And they are hungry.

Good game, it deserves to be played until the end.

Alright, I will start off by saying that this game is a terrible survival horror game. Or even just a horror game. But it's a damn good action game. Many improvements from it's predecessor include the armors (they no longer look precisely the same) and [for the pc] the mouse an anti-aliasing. Another very notable one would be its voiced protagonist in this game. The last game got so boringAlright, I will start off by saying that this game is a terrible survival horror game. Another very notable one would be its voiced protagonist in this game. The last game got so boring when you didn't hear anything for he longest time. Then, the downsides. The game attempts to scare you with meager attempts, i.e. bodies falling from the ceiling or catching a glimpse of something running down a hall. It seems Dead Space just isn't the horror type, but it does action quite well.
One more problem I had, the game is significantly shorter and the chapter names are no longer clever. Although the game wraps up nicely, there will no doubt be a Dead Space 3. And I hope if it again fails in horror, it manages to keep it's nice action style. Dark, creepy, yet full of explosions.

The game is just awesome all round, definitely lived up to the hype.. Dead Space is the kings at what they do.. I wanna rate 10/10!

First off the graphics are great, the story is solid, the sound and music is soo great adds so much depth to the overall experience. This is a really solid game, and there are so many more suits than the first one.. It's really a toss up to personal

Let's just hope they don't ruin the great streak they have!

I'll start with the controls, as that was what mattered most to me coming from the awful controls in the previous game which couldn't be fixed. They are absolutely fine once you've turned v-sync off, vastly improved over DS1, mouse+kb work great. Now the game itself - What's GOOD: It is indeed a fantastic game. They are absolutely fine once you've turned v-sync off, vastly improved over DS1, mouse+kb work great. Now the game itself - What's GOOD: It is indeed a fantastic game. The environments and scenery are some of the best I've seen in a game, the way you learn to interact with the environment, and in doing so solve an array of puzzles (none of which are too puzzling but feel rewarding none the less), is truly well thought through. The story is as good, if not better, than the first game and there's never a bit where you feel disinterested. It's the story that keeps you wanting to hear all of the audio and text logs as they leak little extra tid bits of information to you, none of which you need to read to progress but because they give you little extras as to how people on the station reacted to the outbreak, always adding to the story and keeping it flowing. Of course shooting the mutated crew-members is fun through-out and the variety that the game throws at you keeps it fresh. The bosses are also far more fun than in the first game and whilst still not as challenging as getting rushed by a mob of red necromorphs, provide fights which give a nice level of satisfaction. The new Spitter enemy as well as the raptors are enjoyable too - some of the best fights were against a pack of raptors as they peak around corners and dart between cover, before rushing head on at you - it really created some tense moments. The game isn't as 'scary' as the first, although I didn't find the first game particularly scary - however I would say it's just as tense and creates some great atmospherical tension. I also like the fact they've gone for less horror and more action, it shows and makes for a better game. The new anti-grav sections are really well made and are an improvement over the first. I also thought the game as a whole, including the characters script, was well written. What's BAD: Well, first of all I wish they would realise that enemies you can't kill aren't fun. Much like in the first game *SPOILER* towards the end there is one who just keeps regenerating and all you can do is stasis it and run away, until 15 minutes later where you finally escape it. I don't know if others enjoy this aspect, but I found it thoroughly irritating in both games and as soon as I saw it appear again in DS2, felt a little annoyed that I would have to go through the irritation of it again. It's not hard, just irritating. */SPOLIER* Another thing is when you get mobbed from all angles with little hope other than using several med-kits. A lot of the time when wave after wave is sent at you, it's exciting and with some skilled shooting you can make it out without a scratch. However, there are other times where you have no option other than to spam kits and shoot. Which brings me to my next criticism, being that life/death felt very much an all or nothing experience. You would either come out of something unscathed or with very little damage - or be reloading the game because you got instakilled from behind without even knowing anything was there. There seemed to be little inbetween. I mentioned that some of the new enemies were pretty cool additions, but some aren't. There are new baby necros which crawl along the walls and explode when you shoot the sack on their back. I don't know if they're meant to be creepy but they just look ridiculous and provide no challenge. The same goes for the child necros, they're pretty cool but one hit kills and provide no challenge. Quicktime events are an annoyance, pressing the same button and making it determine the outcome of a wrestling match isn't very enjoyable - perhaps if they made it so you had to press a sequence of buttons or something of the sort it would be better. The attempt at making the small cutscenes through-out the game with Isaacs girlfriend scary, fall flat on their face - and again feel like it's trying far too hard. My final criticism, which is small but frustrating when it happens, is that sometimes you will think you're in a cutscene only to realise too late that you have regained control of Isaac, and it results in having to reload from a checkpoint. Conclusion: It's a great game overall. You will find yourself getting agitated at certain times, but this usually amounts to the odd room which has been badly designed when it comes to spawning enemies on top of you and inevitably wasting a health pack or two. The variation of environments is excellent and the atmosphere through-out the game draws you in. As I said above, the story is well told and the characters believable. Towards the end i just felt it let itself down slightly with messy enemy spawns and it feeling like an old-skool 'spam health potions whilst blasting things' RPG. Can't get MP to work either. Expand

Dead Space 2 may be one of the most lauded PC gaming experiences, but I'll never know, because the same criticisms I had about Dead Space 1 apply to its successor. Namely the fact that your player camera is needlessly 3rd person over-the-shoulder, meaning that at any given time at least 1/4 of the screen is not visible. I played about ten minutes of DS2, shambing around constantly twitching the camera to see into my blind spots like a man with one eye, before I remembered exactly why I quit DS1. It's like trying to watch a movie with someone's head in the way -- This is no kind of way to play a FPS, and with no option to switch to 1st person like you'd expect from any decent game, I had no reason to continue. I think StevenH basically said everything I wanted to say to a T. So I'm going to keep mine a little shorter.
I think this game should be called Dead Space 1.2... It was a huge letdown with regards to innovation, creativity, and story-telling. I thoroughly enjoyed the improved gameplay mechanics, and some of the scares, but.. that's about it.
The rest of the game felt like a familiar

The rest of the game felt like a familiar ritual. At first I was fully expecting new twists and innovations, but that expectancy quickly gave way to an ever deepening sense of disappointment. Way too linear, some recycled environments, stupid puzzles, very few visual improvements, and worst of all for a survival horror; it was dreadfully predictable. I still enjoyed the game though, and will most likely purchase the next effort in the franchise, but I'll never again pre-purchase a Dead Space game, or purchase it at their full asking price... I'll simply wait for the Steam sales.

With this sequel, Visceral Games has masterfully expanded on the first Dead Space. They've revved up the series with tougher guns, a bigger setting, and online multiplayer, but kept the spirit and, most importantly, the scares of the original in tact.
