Feb 1, 2011This isn't the sort of MMO that asks you to park for hours on end several nights in a row. It's more of a co-operative or competitive multiplayer action game, perfect for short intense visits. And because your character doesn't sport rows of tiny icons for a thousand different skills, DC Universe is also perfect for less frequent visits.
-
Feb 26, 2011An exciting new direction for MMOs that's plenty of fun already and should only get better with a few patches under its utility belt.
-
Jan 26, 2011they've pulled off two impressive feats. First off, they've successfully launched a top-shelf superhero MMOG which has been a subgenre that has historically been a weak contender in the overall market. And secondly, they've managed to successfully incorporate action game mechanics into this title in such a way that it will not alienate gamers that are used to a slower pace, but will still deliver pulse-pounding action on par with many single player games.
-
Jan 17, 2011If you're a fan of action, MMOs, or comic books, and if you're looking to commit a lot of time to a single game, DC Universe Online will not disappoint you.
-
Feb 22, 2011The best attempt yet at merging action gaming and MMOs, and a dream come true for comic fans of all ages. [Mar 2011, p.102]
-
Jan 31, 2011The feeling that DCUO is a brand-new game, that hasn't quite ironed out the wrinkles, is palpable.
-
Jan 27, 2011They have achieved to turn into a hit a title which might have passed unnoticed. Being a superhero or villain has never been so fun, and we can share it with thousand of players.
-
Jan 26, 2011DC Universe Online is not only the best MMO build on a superhero theme, but one of the most innovative MMO appeared in the last few years. The combat system is a blast, and there is plenty of content to keep you busy for weeks. Is it worth it the monthly fee though? Only SOE and their regular updates to the game can answer that.
-
PC Games (Russia)Mar 21, 2011DC Universe Online plays best if you've never tried a MMORPG before. The combat is innovative and addictive, the visuals are sleek and the setting is exciting. It may lack some interface polish and the level cap happens too soon, but nevertheless it's a must for any comics fan.[Apr 2011, p.89]

Feb 4, 2011DC Universe Online sales were good and well deserved. The work on the PvP side of the game is interesting, and gives it a hardcore flavor that is both nice and unexpected for a first PS3 MMO. More comfortable on the PC, DCUO has the content it needs for the casual gamer, the group of friends, or the large guild with the PGM attitude. Now, SOE only has to correct some shortcomings and give us more clues about future content! Sure it's only just come out, but, go go, back to work!
-
Jan 23, 2011As with any newly-minted MMO, the game now is probably not what it will become, and whether there is enough depth and content to sustain the monthly subscription price is an unanswered question. For certain though, fans of the beloved DC comics, action gamers, and MMO veterans will all find something to enjoy in DC Universe Online.
-
Feb 21, 2011There's still a lot to do for the developers, but if you like the DC universe and want to get away from World of Warcraft, give this game a chance. Even if you don't pay monthly fees it's still a full co-op action game.
-
Feb 8, 2011But is it worth the initial investment? Due to the impressive groundwork laid by the excellent character creation and combat, I'd say yes.
-
LEVEL (Czech Republic)Feb 23, 2011If you are a fan of comics, then this is your dream come true. To fight against the Joker with Catwoman? Wow! But unfortunately, the game is not as fun as the comics, nor as colorful as the superhero's costumes. [Issue#201]
-
Feb 9, 2011DC Universe Online is a good game, one that can appeal to both MMO and comic fans. On Consoles there's nothing better, and if you plan on playing it on a Ps3 it's well worth the monthly fee. Not so much on PC's though, where there's a lot of strong competitors, and Sony's title is a bit too repetitive and bugged to come out on top. Still, it's the best superhero themed MMO on the market and it has a lot of potential. If you love comics give it a try, you won't be disappointed.
-
Jan 29, 2011DCUO is far from a bad game; there are indeed times when it shines fantastically with the potential for greatness, but its many faults, most minor but some quite large, ensure that it never reaches those heights.
-
Jan 28, 2011Great atmosphere and an addictive character creator, but the quests are a bit too repetitive.
-
Jan 25, 2011Yet DC Universe Online tips its hand early on; in all too short a time, it stops offering any real surprises, remaining approachable but never wading too far from the shallow end of the pool.
-
Jan 25, 2011An action-packed MMO, with some important flaws that must be corrected if Sony wants to appeal a vast audience. Controls can become an issue if you play it on PC and quests are a bit too much on the grinding side, but the combat system and the customization options are fun. With some improvements this game could find its own place in the MMO jungle.
-
Mar 3, 2011DCUO never really takes off. It suffers from numerous bugs and glitches, and the structure of the quests looks more suitable for a single-player RPG rather than an MMO.
-
PC PowerPlayFeb 24, 2011Hit the cap in the free month, then come back in six. [Mar 2011, p.62]
-
Jan 27, 2011DCUO is just a casual masterwork that any comic book fan should take for a spin, and we fear the $14.99 monthly subscription fee will be the kryptonite that brings this hopeful giant to its knees.
-
Jan 25, 2011The result is an enjoyable action-oriented MMO but it leads one to wonder if there is enough here to keep a player paying the monthly fee. With just 30 levels before end-game content and only two major questing zones it begs the question: Will people stay around after their 30 day free trial is over? For large swathes of the playerbase, we're guessing the answer is 'no.'
-
Jan 21, 2011PC gamers accustomed to feasts of content and polish will likely feel short-changed from their subscription fee once the initial 30 day rush is over.
-
Feb 22, 2011DC Universe Online isn't necessarily a bad game. It's a decent MMO with a lot of potential, but our major concern is that it just doesn't have enough content to justify a monthly subscription.
-
Jan 27, 2011Unless you fancy yourself a hardcore DC comics fan, you'll find little to hold your interest in DCUO in its current state after the first several hours of gameplay.
-
Feb 4, 2011SOE tried, and failed, to straddle the line between action game and MMO. Think Crackdown -- but with all of the concessions, limitations, and annoyances of a mediocre massively multiplayer game.
