    So in a nutshell. I'm gonna be honest here, now that i've clocked in about 10 hours of play (over the last 2 days!) I've got to say: People are wrong. dauntless is not a MHW clone; rather, dauntless nods in MHW's direction... then adds mmo style Raidboss mechanics. its freaking awesome. also, it has transmog. TRANSMOG. y'know, that thing Capcom still can't figure out to add to its premierSo in a nutshell. I'm gonna be honest here, now that i've clocked in about 10 hours of play (over the last 2 days!) I've got to say: People are wrong. dauntless is not a MHW clone; rather, dauntless nods in MHW's direction... then adds mmo style Raidboss mechanics. its freaking awesome. also, it has transmog. TRANSMOG. y'know, that thing Capcom still can't figure out to add to its premier hunting game after decades of development. nuff said.

    Now, the game is currently in open beta and it definitely still feels like a work in progress. there's bugs here and there, and the main hub town can get a bit rubberbandyish when its crowded. That said, even in its current rough-cut state its easy to see that Pheonix Labs has stumbled onto something special here.

    The overall aesthetic of the game is spot on. It has that stylized, cartoony art style that looks great at release and ages well over time, combined with deep, meaty, satisifying sound effects that hit you right in the soul. Every fight is a treat, with each new monster surprising you with interesting mechanics, attacks, and strategic opportunities for a co-op team to master. The monsters themselves are gorgeous, a savage blend of natural and sci-fantasy flavored beastness. The fact that they visibly accumulate wounds and battle damage over the course of the encounter is one of my favorite features... they look and feel as though they are getting more tired or frenzied as the battle progresses.

    The game isnt without its flaws, certainly; there is a bit of a speed bump in the beginning (the first few monsters you fight are incredibly basic, and are NOT a true indication of the challenges to come!) which probably leads to plenty of folks dipping their toe in, fighting the slow, easy stuff, and thinking the game isnt deep enough to enjoy. Furthermore, of the 6 different weapon styles available in the game, only 3 are available at start; the rest must be unlocked as you level up. In a genre that is generally known for giving you freedom of choice when it comes to playstyle, this can be a bit of a turn off, especially if your preferred flavor of weapon is unavailable for you for the first 6 or 8 hours of content. You like axes in most games? too bad. swing a hammer or a sword for your first 12 - 15 hunts, then start learning the axe in the middle of hard fights, 'cause you cleared the easy ones already. :(

    Quibbles aside, the actual gameplay is fun, the world is colorful, and the monsters are glorious. For the cost of entry ( $0, btw. The game is free) its easily worth a look. Give it a chance and it may surprise you. Just, well, try to stick it out till the 5th monster you hunt. That's where the game really starts to shine.    … Expand

    So far, the animations are great, the game feels fluid, fighting is fun. I haven't had to spend a single cent. Will keep the review up to date if something changes.

    This game is really fun, its not a Monster hunter world copy but a mhw esc game with mmo rpg elements that is in open beta. The team is working effortlessly to improver the game unlike some developers who don't work on the game but still call it a open beta or an open alpha.

    A really cool game, with an interresting gameplay.
    Several weapons, and each type of weapon is enjoyable to play.
    As much monsters than Monster Hunter, and their style is much more inspirated than MH.
    A cool progression for new players, and ton of content for old ones.

    I just love this game. I've spent more time playing it than anything else in 2019. The combat is extremely smooth, fluid, and impactful. Each weapon plays very differently. I loved MH:W and played about 80hrs of it, but I've spent almost twice that in Dauntless.

    Amazing free to play game!, This has received huge updates in the last few months compared to last year. One of the best f2p games out there.

    After reading the bad reviews I saw that some people are blaming the game when it is their slow computer or taking a hit at free to play games pushing the only way they get to make money. I never played the console monster hunter but did play the psp version. Is it similar? To be honest I don’t remember anything from monster hunter as I was carried through everything. Now this game is super fun, especially when all the other games out right now are awful. The player based is huge thanks to cross play. The best part is it gets more difficult as you progressed and I love it. What if I finish all the quest lines? Well there is plenty to do with mastery, when you accomplish everything with one weapon type, you can do it all over with a different weapon. (Way different experience with every weapon type.) I also love being able to fail and work my way to avoid that failure. So many times I had to redo a boss because we literally had a lot to learn. Then I also enjoy being the last one alive and once I finally clutch it for the squad, I hear the screams of my team being amazed. This game is paving memories and the more I play it the more I love it. As much love that I have for this game, I also dislike parts of it. Like not having a full 4 man squad sometimes and not being able to just exit the hunt. We need to quit the whole game in order to exit. That is literally the most disliked thing I could think of. To wrap it all up it is really worth your time for someone looking for a solo game to grind meanwhile watching your favorite streamer, or a game to play with friends.… Expand

The style is kind of a mix of Darksiders and Fortnite...if you like that is up to you.     Best MH Ever, I find that this game is much easier to take in hand than Monster Hunter, much more dynamism, the graphics are really juice

    This is one of the best free play games on the market. Do not listen to the people giving this game a 2, they are morons. Fun game that you can play with your friends that have xbox and ps4's you cant beat that for free. Not sure why people hate their lives so much that they feel the need to **** on a great game just because it doesnt cater to every needs.

    Its really a good game, that's no doubt about that.
    The gameplay is fluid and gratificant.
    In resume, for a "Free to Play" game its one of the best, mainly with the launch in 05/21/19

    Enjoyable game... Was way easier for me to pickup and have fun with than Monster Hunter World - probably cause it's a lot less grindy.     The Good. Game is fun. Monsters are creative. Environment and graphics are perfectly fine. Decent amount of content. Runs smoothly on max settings. In game sounds are amazing. Friend system in place. Queueing matches works via cross play no issues on wait times. Different ways to build your champ.

    The Bad. Game still has bugs. Game has a pay to progress system. You can avoid the pay    The Good. Game is fun. Monsters are creative. Environment and graphics are perfectly fine. Decent amount of content. Runs smoothly on max settings. In game sounds are amazing. Friend system in place. Queueing matches works via cross play no issues on wait times. Different ways to build your champ.

    The Bad. Game still has bugs. Game has a pay to progress system. You can avoid the pay system or support the devs - doesn't hinder your game play only would hinder the time it takes to progress. No inventory system for Materials - this is a huge issue for me - hoping they fix this down the line. Character can get repetitive via mechanics.

    Conclusion - Don't get persuaded by the negative reviews - game is free - try it out for yourself. The game has great potential and the bugs i ran into were minor at this point in time. Have played over 20hrs so far and not a single crash - would recommend.    … Expand

    I think that this is truly a unique game and I would recommend that if you are a fan of this type of genre then I think you should give this game a try.

    I honestly did not expect this game to be that good. I thought it would be a MH clone but after playing I can say that is not the case. It's very fun to play, the gameplay is addictive and I love the customization aspect. It's one of my favorite free to play games.

    The game is in my opinion off to a good start thanks to a combat that is engaging with different thinks to do with your team depending on the weapon of your choice, I have little to no complaints in this regard. The art style is another thing that I really dig into, since is kinda cartoony but not in an exagerated way like fortnite for example, is simply nice to look at.

Incredibly fun and easy to jump straight into a hunt with other people cross platform without dropping a dime; none of the content is behind a paywall.     The game is overall great.its got a nice style to it and it has unique behemoths.the combat system is great except the dodging which is a bit buggy but its great.
    The only issue is the performance.This game runs so bad on some PCs (specially AMD base PCs) and it runs bad on ps4
    but this will all get fixed in like 2 weeks.

    Dauntless is a very fun coop game about killing monsters using various weapons. The graphics have a mixed cartoon/realistic style and still look very good. The controls are kind of weird as i'm personally used to space for jumping. I still got the hang of it eventually but thankfully it gives you the option of customizing your controls.     9/10, I only played about an hour. Just to easy for me, after the gauntlet of Monster Hunter World ofr hundreds of hours this was childs play.

    I'm sure it gets harder, I just have to go play Monster Hunter. lol

    I play the game since the beta and it is just a very cool game regularly updates synonymous who sometimes there are new problems naber are also resolved after a time.

    who thinks the game is the same as mhw that should not play it.

    первым был Evolve - лучшая игра а играл я с ЗБТ до закрытия серверов. Знаю причину закрытия как люди сами испортили игру. Dautless ждал год минимум когда вышел то был на Английском языке . Сейчас наконец появилась локализация на Русский . 22+ лвл купил боевой пропуск. И да Dautless была второй игрой в мире после Evolve - 4 против 1 . DBD . пятница 13 и прочее хорошие игры но бой противпервым был Evolve - лучшая игра а играл я с ЗБТ до закрытия серверов. Знаю причину закрытия как люди сами испортили игру. Dautless ждал год минимум когда вышел то был на Английском языке . Сейчас наконец появилась локализация на Русский . 22+ лвл купил боевой пропуск. И да Dautless была второй игрой в мире после Evolve - 4 против 1 . DBD . пятница 13 и прочее хорошие игры но бой против монстра как в классическом Evolve остался тут . Единственное что бы не убить игру разрабы вместо монстра под управлением человека поставили бота . А то эти все криворукие дети начнут ныть о балансе и игру тоже прикроют с волной нытья . Поэтому для меня это хорошая альтернатива .MHW не то допустим , китайщиной за километры пахнет играть в той вселенной невозможно . Здесь же очень приятно проводить время . Надеюсь вы меня услышали. Ну и что бы понять игру тут над прокачаться больше 7 лвл . Так как очень растянуто начало для детей которые не могут сбить монстра с ног.… Expand

    The game is free, fun, cross-play and has nice graphics, models and animations. Story is good, and the characters lovable. Although, It's a little repetitive, but I found that OK because there is so many things to learn about each monster! Deserves an 8, but because of the 5.3 User Score I'm going to give it a 10.

Have been playing this game exclusively for the last 2 weeks and I'm having so much fun with the increasing difficulty of the monsters, weapon and armour forging and customisation, gameplay mechanics of the different weapons (highly recommend to try Aether strikers, chain blades and axe, very different weapons but so much fun!). I encountered only 1 bug where you go somewhere else in the map but they have implemented a useful button that fixes that immediately by making you spawn in a safe place. I can highly recommend this game, its free and you will have a lot of fun unlocking new levels of difficulty and mods, specially trials and escalation! super fun.… Expand

    This game fills a very interesting niche. Its monster hunter arcade fast paced anime action. For me it fills a nice spot when i just want to smash some heads. The hunts dont take that long (2-3 min per behemoth). Compared to monster hunter it doesnt dive very deep into the tactical / strategical side of things.     A easy fun PvE experience that i would recommend to anyone who wants to try melee action games, diverse weaponry and fun combat make it easy to play but hard to master. Excellent element and crafting system that is the right amount of confusing and immersive and many behemoths to slay with fun replay ability.     I wanted very badly to love Dauntless, and for a time I think I did thanks to the fantastic combat and weapon variety. But the lack of any real storytelling makes the repetitive questing structure a glaring issue in desperate need of some TLC. If you’re looking for a new go-to F2P experience, you could do much worse — just don’t expect a world drenched teeming with lore and compelling characters.
