Most certainly the online role-playing game of the hour and quite possibly the year.
-
Computer Gaming WorldThe gameplays the thing, though, and in Dark Age its the best Ive yet experienced in an online RPG. [Feb 2002, p.77]
-
I can't remember the last time I had so much fun just playing. At times I truly felt like a little kid completely immersed in a fantastic game of let's pretend. At my age that feeling doesn't come around to often but when it does you sure savor it.
-
It features a tighter back story, a more streamlined and interactive combat model, the ability to play the game the way you want to play, and best of all, does so in an easy to understand, even friendly manner.
-
Game InformerThere are so many things to like about DAoC that it's hard not to find the game charming. [Jan 2002, p.93]
-
I strongly recommend this game. It is the best, most enjoyable and most addictive game I have seen in 19 years.
-
The sheer scope of this game (to repeat it again: 12 races, 33 classes, 3 realms) and its incredible quality level make it a shining star in the MMORPG sky.
-
If you want to keep a semblance of a normal life, do not buy this game. It will suck you in and refuse to let go, then youll end up with the same stench and bloodshot eyes that I have.
-
Dark Age of Camelot can be said to be the best MMORPG to have come out since "EverQuest." It's more updated, adds more in depth with the universe your in, and for 10 dollar a month, it's a steal.
-
The fact is, as an online role-playing game, Dark Age of Camelot surpasses any such game to date and promises to remain the finest in its class for a long time.
-
I've been sucked in by the splendor that is Dark Age Of Camelot. I've had nothing but good times since I started playing. Servers have been stable and the NetImmerse engine has withstood the steadily increasing flow of new players without a hitch.
-
One of the best MMORPGs on the market. It has depth of play, dynamic interplayer action, solid graphics and terrific sound.
-
Although Dark Age doesn't innovate much, it's the best and most viable MMORPG out there right now.
-
DAoC takes some "standards" that MMORPG fans expect to see, expands on them with some great new gameplay and interface elements, and wraps it all up in an interesting story and world.
-
PC GamerIts impressively well thought-out, and a highly engaging MMORPG thats kept me captivated for the last few weeks solid. [Jan 2002, p.80]
-
A superior product.
-
The game really kicks ass. While it may not be "the next big thing" in the mmorpg genre, it's a genuine (and in some cases very attractive) alternative to games like "EverQuest."
-
Needs to add depth and variety to almost every facet to make it a great game, but it's very good now, it's worth playing now, and it's better than the competition when all of the elements are combined, if not outstanding in most individual areas.
