games(TM)Every detail - from locations and dates right down to individual tanks' weak points and reload times - has been made as realistic as possible... For those looking to recreate the progress of an Allied soldier at this harrowing, historic event, this is probably as close as you're going to get. [Oct 2004, p.106]
-
I think this game will appear to WWII or history buffs, real-time strategy fans, and anyone with a strong patriotic streak.
-
Challenging, but not always in the right way. Invade elsewhere.
-
The bare bones for success are there. With a bit more polish and the intention to deliver the game as a game rather than what amounts to an interactive documentary when all is said and done, I am confident that the developers can pull off a better, more entertaining game in the future.

PC GamerIf converted to a turn-based game, many of D-Day's concepts, graphics, and missions would work well. In their current form, however, they don't. [Apr 2005, p.73]
-
Missions are pretty linear in design with focused objectives and paths to certain areas rigged with a host of enemies, and no means to really flank or come up with alternate routes.
-
Nothing special as far as real-time strategy games go. It doesn't break any new ground, and it doesn't rise to stand on top of the pile of other games in the genre.
-
What it does feature (in large amounts) is lazy, un-inspiring map design, shoddy AI and pathfinding and ridiculous infantry micro-management. Hardly the groundbreaking improvements that the paying gamer demands these days, and we certainly don't blame them.
-
The game is just plain boring.
-
Aside from the documentaries and research, D-Day is a lazy, insipid, botched effort of a game.
-
Computer Gaming WorldIt's "Commandos" with dozens of units and none of the character. [Jan 2005, p.106]
-
The game is riddled with silly and clumsy flaws and there are numerous holes in the gameplay that make this a distinctly average game in a genre with so many far better alternatives.
