Game looks good, story sounds fun, great universe, but so poorly optimized that it's barely playable without giving me nausea. I can't play games with such low framerate.

    Fix your game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'll keep this short and sweet with bullet points showing my disappointments with this game.
    - Barely any meaningful dialogue options, they are all incredibly linear and lead to the same thing
    - I expected choices, to be able to save characters like Jackie or Evelyn, but the game is linear as ****
    - Combat is average to below average, enemies are bullet sponges and they usually don't care about their safety and will just stand there while you unload into them. The ai is just bad.
    - The lifepath you choose is a 5 minute cutscene before it throws you back on the linear path.
    - Serious lack of romance options
-The world feels incredibly dull and there's no way to interact with it
    - The npcs are like something out of a ps2 game. They just wander around and bump into each other and you will see the same model over and over, sometimes you see 2 of the same npcs standing side by side.

I cannot recommend this game and you should ignore the blind fanboys giving this game a 10/10

If you look at the profiles of the vast majority of "user" reviewers giving this a 10, they're all obviously bot or fake accounts with a small number of reviews - many with only a single one for 2077. This only happens when a company is spending serious cash to furiously paper over their worst blunders.

It's not a good look, CDPR.

Amazing game if you can get past the strange bugs and glitches. Which is ironic as part of this game is about bugs and glitches.

Everyone should watch some gameplay before they buy this game and not because of the glitches. The main character is a bag and they way he delivers almost every line is cringe worthy. If you can get past that the game has a ton of sub par elements to enjoy.

Bugs on top, some of them game breaking (like key characters not showing up at all) are not even considered in the end score for me, as they will get patched eventually.

It doesn't do anything previous games hadn't done before. It does do most of it better.

It is a very bad PC port, with terrible men navigation clearly built for a Controller, rather than a Mouse. Performance is questionable at best. The Anti-Aliasing, I believe, is TAA. It is hard-baked in and it is implemented with bugs. The usual artifacting presents itself; Fuzzy surfaces, ghosting image trailing behind moving objects.

Combat is jarringly bad. Melee combat is a joke. Gunplay, similarly so. While the guns themselves are all unique and fun to shoot, enemies suffer from the Destiny-itus. Bullet Sponges, even with pure headshots and a crit chance build.

The character progression is a joke. Small percentages of sword damage or crit chance here or there. I might as well have none of it. Cyberware similarly so. They add nothing to the game. No unique progression paths. They are just things you can get, but you might as well not have them.

Skillchecks in dialogues and around the open world are probably the most entertaining parts of the Skillpoint system. Ripping doors off the hinges or talking someone's ears off until they give you what you want is entertaining. Like it always is in these types of games.

Side activities are ample, even the fetch quests are tailored to fit the universe. Side quests are entertaining and memorable.

The main story itself is, passable. Silverhand is an entertaining companion, however the story gets railroaded down 4 different paths towards 4 different endings and this becomes very obvious, very, very early on.

Last but not least, the bugs. Terrible. Puts Bethesda to shame twice over. I've fallen through the map into the Void Dimension multiple times, became invincible a few times, lost sound completely, lost sound partially, random floating items, T-posing NPCs, inability to progress Dialogue forcing a reload, dialogues clipping into one another a plethora of times. In short, a jarring, unforgivable mess. The game is a contender for buggiest game ever released, in the company of Fallout 76.

I do not believe future patches will be able to address all the technical issues.

As it stands, Cyberpunk does not deserve your money as a consumer. Wait for a heavy, HEAVY discount. 85%+ or so. Stay away from the Season Pass. Stay away from the Expansions. Wait for a sequel, if they'll ever make one.

So so sad to see this game be released in this state. Managment really Fkd up. So much content cut out, even AI elements of gangs fighting on streets and so much more. This game will be absolutely amazing when its fixed. The way the story is told, the immersion, graphics, characters, everything is 10/10. Sadly right now the game is about 60% there.

I have 28 hours in game. Great main and secondary quests, as we are used to from the Witcher. The city is really detailed, it freezes the "dead" NPCs, but they were already in the Witcher.

4 graphic glitches, two forced restarts, two bugs, two jams in the game, two crashes. When I compare it to Skyrim, it's completely different. 2600X, 16 GB RAM and 1060 6 GB. Something between

They did do a good job with the main quest line so props there, its what I expect from the guys who made Witcher, but they really need to learn how to make more engaging side quests and gameplay. Witcher suffered from similar problem, it just got boring towards the end because AI is not interesting or challenging. But the world of Witcher was just more interesting to me. Maybe its because its so foreign. Cyberpunk pretty much looks like a normal urban city. Sure there are some tech upgrades to people and objects but otherwise, it looks very much like real life. Which I find, boring I guess.

I also feel like the RPG elements of character building are thrown in without thought and have little to no impact. You literally can avoid them near entirely and it wont stop you from trivializing the game with just found gear. Gear is also a mess. Stuff you find gets outclassed really fast and nothing is really special, not even the so called iconic items. Crafting is too simple to be interesting too and the economy.... what economy? Money falls off trees. Its only a small issue early in the game and then money is worthless.

One note. I didnt have any major technical issues with the game on the PC. It fired up fine on high on my GTS 980 which is very old. I did edit the config file to allow for more RAM. There are bugs in the game, like NPC im-persistence and cars clipping into the ground (just saw it once) and walking through a wall. But nothing game breaking.

All in all, it was an average game for me but I can see why some might like it. I wasnt a fan of GTA either so I suppose its fair to say these games are just not my cut of tea.

Never been so torn on a video game my whole life. On one hand, there's the 180 hours I spent with CP2077 and genuinely enjoyed. On the other hand, I'm dying inside, thinking about the potential it had. Herein lies the biggest problem. What Cyberpunk does well, it does extraordinarily well. What Cyberpunk does well, it does extraordinarily well. But where it falls, it falls so hard that it actually hurts. Don't get me wrong. It's not a bad game. At all. I do recommend it.

The world is, for lack of a better word, breathtaking. I found myself just looking and taking in the sights more times than I can count. This is truly a beautiful work of art. One of best looking games I've seen by far, both technically and artistically. The characters, story and narrative are another high point. I loved them. All of them. They had such unique persona's, each with strengths and weaknesses. Their dialogue, voice acting, motion capture and even the small facial expressions are absolutely top notch. They almost feel real. There is so much love and care in here, it's practically bursting at the seams.

Of course it goes without saying but there is A LOT that is currently wrong or straight up missing. Stability is the major roadblock as of now. Granted, I didn't run into any game-breaking bugs but visual glitches, audio hiccups and physics bugouts are a regular part of the experience. As is braindead or non-existent AI. It really, really sucks. The other major issue is that this is an open-world game that is completely lacking in open-world mechanics. There's really nothing you can do outside of predetermined missions. Maybe you can drive around or go for a walk, but even that's a stretch as the number of glitches you'll run into will immediately bring you out of it.

But more than anything, I'm looking forward to the day where CP2077's potential will be fully realized. If or when that day comes, It's going to truly be something for the ages.

As for the technical state of the Game: Yes, there are some bugs here and there, but I've yet to experience any game breaking bugs. Worst I've had was a quest bug, where the quest did not continue for some reason, but a simple quick safe reload fixed that. Performance is alright, I'm getting round about 55fps with RTX OFF, Ultra Details and DLSS ON (Playing on a RTX 2070, Ryzen 1700, 32GB DDR4 3200 RAM, SanDsk Extrem Pro m.2 NVME SSD, Windows 10 1909, Newest Nvida Drivers, Game Version 1.04). RTX on drops me to 40 fps. All in all, on PC, which is what this section of Metacritic is for, I don’t think it’s as bad as some people want to make you believe. You can tell a lot of polishing is missing. Enemies & companions have basically no AI and run around like idiots. The fighting is ok, nothing special, and seriously marred by the lacking AI. Gun play is fine, fighting with melee weapons is disappointing because you just wildly slash around. Every boss fight so far has glitched out on me and enemies just stand around and wait for you, occasionally ducking out of cover or throwing a grenade, but they don't move around much. Companions yell random senseless comments that don't fit the situation all the time. Also honestly I am not sure if companions even make any damage in fights. I have the impression that they don't but I might be wrong, but very helpful they are not. Overall it feels like the developers just did not bother to try and program an AI or gave up halfway through. Dialogues also frequently glitch out a bit so characters end up repeating themselves or talking over one another.

The city is very, very beautiful and atmospheric, but there is not that much to do. So it's like a beautiful stage set that you just wander through - at least you can see everything is handmade with much detail. NPCs have only a few words to say if you try to talk and move around the city like on rails, giving a very robotic impression. There's many side quests that are usually not that interesting.

Several promised features have apparently been cut or reduced. There is no wall running, you can't customise your apartment, etc. The graphics were downgraded too, it's not bad and the lighting is really good and atmospheric but sometimes things can look a bit meh.

The story so far is pretty good, as are most of the characters and dialogues. They are really loveable but also you can only talk to them sometimes if the plot allows it. However, being in act 2 so far I have already noticed that the plot is starting to be not as well done as in act 1 anymore, the dialogues less carefully choreographed. I really liked the staging of the plot relevant events & dialogues at the beginning but it seems to be starting to worsen. We'll see.

The soundtrack is banging, and the overall setting is fun. Really the biggest problem for me is the lack of AI, it just makes the fighting meh. Even police is no threat because if they get called on you they just randomly spawn somewhere around you, then usually glitch out and after a few seconds of laying low the warrant is called off. I am having fun, but this game is not what you would expect from 8 years of development and would have probably needed a whole another year to properly reach a finished state. I hope fixes will come in soon to enhance the experience. Either way it will look like CDPR will take a huge reputation hit from this.

I wasn't one of the people that was super hyped for this game, but I did pick it up on launch day for PC. A mixture of liking CDPR's other games, and generally just needing something to play lead me to do so. After investing over 50 hours in the game I feel that my opinion is more or less finalized on the game.

First of all let's tackle the good.

The moment to moment gameplay is fun and gets that itch for a shooter scratched. Melee combat isn't perfect, but it can still be fun slicing up enemies wildly. Driving was a pleasant surprise as the vehicles handle really well. And finally the dialogue and story is fun to follow, and you feel an attachment to some characters.

Now to the bad, or more just disappointing.

Night City is beautiful, and has so much potential to be a fantastic place to explore, but it doesn't live up to that potential. The city is empty with nothing to do. The vast majority of buildings are locked and have no interaction with the player. If you ever get tired of shooting bad guys the game doesn't offer you any other distractions to clear your pallet. The citizens of Night City are also lifeless and do nothing other than coward at the slightest thing out of the norm. Don't expect them to get angry and retaliate against you, or do anything else but curl into a ball on the ground until they fade from existence. Shops are sprinkled lightly across the map, but don't really feel different from one another besides the two shops at your apartment which have side quests tied to them.

The RPG mechanics in the game feel almost like an afterthought since they have very little impact on the actual gameplay besides stat increases. Levels and stats act like a barrier stopping you from interacting with parts of the game you shouldn't be until later. Feels more like an invisible wall than it does RPG. Dialogue options don't really change the outcome of quests, and are much more there just for flavor.

Finally I don't want to spend too much time on this, and it doesn't really change my score at all, but the glitches and bugs at launch are pretty bad. Textures not loading, clipping, AI standing still, the list goes on. I have no doubts that they will be ironed out eventually by CDPR, but my issues mostly stem with things they can't patch.

All in all this game is a generic FPS with a coat of RPG on top set in an interesting world. Worth playing if you have nothing else and just wanna blast some bad guys. 70/100.

This game also really isn't as fun if you're running a generalist build so I highly recommend you specialise. I've done playthroughs where I first focused on Intelligence and Cool/Crafting, but it's a much slower-paced game.

If you are new I recommend taking the Body tree, followed by Cool and Reflexs as that gives you the Sandevstan and all the best Cyberware in the game. Focus on the Body Stat first followed by Reflexes and Cool, starting with 6 Body, 6 Cool, and 4 Reflex and getting Cool to 7 before focusing on Body and then catching up reflexs is great as it lets you take the perk 15% more damage to all humans.

The story isn't bad and the endings especially managed to get my interest a fair bit.

I will start with what they did right here: The story is great, truly CD Projekt Red material, the map looks really like a large and vertical city, you can look up and see those holographic billboards and megastructures and yes it looks fantastic, since I'm reviewing the PC copy, performance looks allright, not great not terrible (medium settings, 1440p, and 30fps on a 1070). now before II will start with what they did right here: The story is great, truly CD Projekt Red material, the map looks really like a large and vertical city, you can look up and see those holographic billboards and megastructures and yes it looks fantastic, since I'm reviewing the PC copy, performance looks allright, not great not terrible (medium settings, 1440p, and 30fps on a 1070). now before I start with what happened wrong with cyberpunk 2077: yeah it's full of bugs, Bethesda level of full of bugs but this happens, it is annoying, but this can solved, a few months and a couple patches and it's good as new.

So here's the part that no simple bugfix will do and need serious overhauls:
What I can not forgive about an AAA open world title in 2020, is bad AI, and Cyberpunk 2077 one is so bad it feels completely nonexistent, people won't react to anything you do, and when they do they only crouch scared, not even trying to run, traffic is even more painful to watch: the cars only drive on rails in a painfully obvious way, you stop a car in the middle of the road, and NPCs start a line blocked by your car, no honks, no one trying to turn around, if you blow up something people will just exit their cars and crouch instead of, you know, running away using the car they are already inside. This lack of driving extends to the police, there's no police car chases, and cop NPCs will instead just spawn behind you, even GTA San Andreas was way better than this.
Also, for a RPG full of cybernetics and body modifications, the lack of character customization after creation is ironic, to say the least, you can't even change the haircut, and Witcher 3 (a game from the same studio, on same engine) had realistic growing beard and hair as well as barber shops. but thanks for letting customize genitalia and then never using it in game besides a glitch where it pops out of your pants I guess.

In summary, good story and campaign, nice aesthetic, bugs will get fixed soon, and the open world is so broken it will need a No Man's Sky level of rework to be good

The hate this game is getting is ridiculous. Yes. There are launch day bugs. Quite a bit fewer after the patch that *just* dropped. But the bugs have not been game breaking, and don't come anywhere close to the bugginess of a "mature" Bethesda title. I've been through a launch day catastrophe. I pre-ordered No Man's Sky. Cyberpunk 2077's problems are nowhere near that category.

So far, the game delivers what was promised. And that's saying a lot. The worldbuilding - the details, not only visual, but the lingo, the sound... everything - is nothing less than a masterpiece. Again, I'm just not seeing the hate. It makes no sense at all.

I've been told there is transphobia in this game. I'm trans. If there's transphobia, I'm certainly not seeing it. I'm seeing a lot more gender expression freedom in this game than in anything else I've ever seen.

Yes I have not had many bugs unlike others but I waited till patch 1.04, however this game is not without issues still it has plenty of oomph to give. There is some difficulty curve early on if you go into the wrong side thing, but overall on PC the game feels good and clearly overspecced on the sheets for ultra. I thought they'd have more than 3 of the life paths, but only 3 kinda slim. Where is my rockerboy, razorgirl, etc? I hope they introduce more life paths later on, the conversion from tabletop to game feels good but limited in some regards. As an old tabletop player, I wish there was more from the book especially in life paths.

The hacking system gets old after the fourth time and you will be doing it more often than killing npc’s. Glitches are around every corner and make it nearly impossible to enjoy any quest. Combat feels tedious and becomes boring after two to three engagements. NPC’s run around like idiots and even will hide from the player, or get stuck in place, allowing you to blast away at their face. Accidentally kill a civilian during a shootout? Watch as cop NPC’s spawn from out of nowhere and start melting your ass.

The only enjoyment from driving comes from marveling at the landscape but will quickly be ruined by traffic issues and slushy mechanics. Drive all the way across town to discover that quests don’t work or mission assets not functional.

Have fun scrolling through your inventory to either disassemble or sell items and weapons that you no longer have use for after picking them up five minutes prior.

One of the best glitches I encountered, early in my gameplay, was when I jumped onto some trash bags a floor below and was launched into the air off of the building. Yes I died. Yes, my auto save was twenty minutes prior. Lol. I don’t even have enough excedrin to finish this disaster. I honestly believe that it could take another two years to iron out all the issues with the games. But to make the game great, would require going all the way back to the drawing board. The gameplay is stale and old witching a couple of hours.

Graphics are great but the core mechanics of the game are not up to par with standards like gta or other great open world games. The music is great though. ;)

There is also a massive problem with how your character picks things up, does stealth kills, or uses a computer. The game has trouble knowing what you're aiming at when you are up close to multiple options. If there is a piece of garbage beside a valuable weapon, sometimes looking at the weapon from any angle will leave you with no other option than to pick up the garbage first. This is problematic in stealth, as picking up garbage instead of initiating a stealth takedown on your target is frequently interrupted by your character picking up a bottle of fizzy water, or logging into a terminal. This is especially problematic since this game has bad auto saves. This problem is not tied to key binding, and there is no way in the game to cycle between options in these cases.
There are many problems with this game that entirely stem from their release of a half-baked product. It would take months of work for CDPR to fix everything. Underneath all of the **** though, there is a very good game, as is evident in the polished beginning missions.

The game is really huge, the map never feels empty and there's always something to do. Some bugs are to be expected, but they WILL fix this game, it's CDP, not EA or Ubisoft.

Is it worth the money? Absolutely, it is more than worth every penny. Give this game a chance, the witcher 3 on it's release also was riddled with bugs, but that didn't keep it from becoming great

But, even with everything working as intended, it's just not a great game. The story is meh; the main character has a definite personality and I do not like it; really does not feel like an RPG in that regard. Looks-wise, sure, there are lots of reflections, neon lights, and what not, but it does not look amazing even with all settings turned up to eleven. There is still occasional texture pop-in on stuff I'm looking straight at and it takes seconds to happen. Honestly, GTA5 on the PS3 looked better than this in most open-world scenes.

There are a ton of side activities that are not all that interesting and they really make me want to go in guns blazing because, though I prefer the stealth/hack game play, there are too many of these mini-levels and they're not clearly marked (as in, I'll wonder into a gun fight by accident and have to just kill everyone with a shotgun). That, combined with the gunplay being just OK does not make me want to participate. Another point about combat. It’s too easy on Normal and everyone’s a bullet sponge on Hard. Definitely, the cheap MMORPG approach in that the AI is garbage and difficulty is set with health bars. Ideally, the behaviors would change based on difficulty. I’m sorry, a headshot is a headshot, having to “upgrade” a gun to make it a kill is immersion breaking.

The brain dances are a neat idea but they're, so far, the buggiest part of the experience (points of interest not being cleared, for instance; can't say more without spoilers).

Add to that npcs walking through doors, duplicate civilians spawning, car AI (and driving, honestly) being terrible, and it’s not a good or memorable experience. Should have focused more on the core game rather than filling it with throw-away side experience and eye candy.

There is so much wrong besides the bugs that I would not recommend anyone buy this game unless it is on deep deep sale and there is absolutely nothing else to play.

The scale of the city is overwhelming (at least at first) but gives something that we didn't have before. Storywise game is again fantastic (altough depressing as hell) Quests would work even without journal and mapmarkers as they are organicaly build into the world and give you (the player) sense of logic and natural consequences of working and living world. Characters are great and makes you consider your choices. Don't have problem with small only differences between the paths you choose at the beginning (since they are clearly representations of the endings you might want to choose at the grand finale). Even if we consider game much shorter than W3, it takes its time to develop characters and their storylines. Obviously at the end, you wish for more - but that seem to be normal with good game.
    NEGATIVES:
As i said though, i have some issues. Many thing was said about bugs... ive encountered 3 that i think are worth to remember, rest are just very minor glitches that imho are not worth to cry about since they happened maybe once every 10 hours during my gameplay.
    .
First bug was one specific npc that was t-posing (only this one specific npc which baffles me).
    .
Second bug was pictured by a pair of motorcycles that swooshed from side alley into the pedestrians, killing them and causing panic on the sidewalk, just to eventually crash into a wall of nearby building (although it was epic and funny as **** it was a bug).
    .
Third Bug forced me to reload previous save and i encountered it when ive got too far away from important conversation (apparently) and when ive returned quest didn't trigger next stage.
    .
There was also fourth bug but it didn't have any consequences, though it was wierd encounter and overall funny (again). When you call Rogue through phone (anywhere outside afterlife), ask her about personal stuff and then mention Johnny Silverhand - she teleports to you no matter where you are. As i said this one didn't have any consequences (and by replicating bug i was able to teleport her back to Afterlife :P ).
    .
Anyway. Few other issues i have are desing problems.
I use controller (though i play on PC) and noticed that crouch button is the same as skip button in conversations. Respec item allows you to respec skill points/perks but not the attributes which makes it useless in larger scale since attributes determine what kind of perks you can choose (or maybe this was already changed?). No changing your look during a game makes no sense to me - even if we don't see our character that often it seem to be a huge oversight from my perspective. Overall interactivness of the City seem to be shallow too. There is actually no activities outside of quests, not even something as simple to do as shooting range, repeatable car rides, obsctacle courses - anything that could throw more depth into actually impresive Night City. For same reason NPCs seem to just wander aimlessly the streets for no reason and do nothing which causes more problems the longer you think about it. Night City needs more Depth, and need it quickly. Another thing that makes no sense to me is (as it was in Witcher 3) LOOT SYSTEM... why i need to wander around whole city just to find piece of clothing i might want? Instead of giving me a choice to wear whatever i might want? Imho every single cloth we buy should be also upgradeable to Legendary status (through lower ones) since as well we could build legend (sort of speak) of our pants, blouse, jacket or whatever (like Johnny Silverhan did with his pants). AC Odyssey did it perfectly (wear what you want, upgrade what you can, make it look whatever you like system in AC Odyssey is still superior. Didn't played Valhalla yet).

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is an absolute masterpiece to me. Best game I've ever played since years.

The main story is gorgeous, well-written and mind blowing. Each character have their own storyline, sometimes very addictive. Judy is the best NPC written since years. Her side quests about Clouds are amazing and her final mission underwater is breath-taking. Panam and River are also very good side characters.
Voice acting is gorgeous too, in addition to a perfect OST.

So bad this game suffered from such a bad release on consoles. We were (and still are) bugs on the PC version, but the game really does not deserve such violence.

Cyberpunk 2077 is a game that supports pivotal gameplay and superb storytelling. The issues with this game are the"occasional bugs" as I put in quotes because its minor texture bugs that will be addressed in a simple patch. Gameplay is very fun and quite fast based. The story is great and many missions are exciting. The city is beautiful and full of content and things to do. NPC AI is lacking but i don't care. Graphics are amazing especially on Ultra. I've heard that other players are having many bugs but that hasn't been my experience.

As a RPG game a lot of mechanics can be overwhelming much like the braindancing and quickhacking functions , but they do service purpose and with time an use you do get more comfortable using them.
The driving is a bit stiff, but with more time played you do unlock better handling vehicles plus there is the fast travel option. The weapons are very cool and much like the driving can be a pain to use, but upgrades to V attributes weapons become easier and fun to use. Overall cyberpunk 2077 is very ambitious and immersive game that need more time to be developed.

Gamers(TM) will harass people for objectively pointing out problematic parts of the game and will harass them so much so that they'd send flashing light videos to someone who is epileptic in order to cause a seizure. Gamers are so defensive to defend their product from a triple A corporate studio, which is heavily ironic considering this is (apperently) a cyberpunk game. Gamers(TM) are so upset when their video games have any sort of clear political message, that Cyberpunk 2077 appropriates the genre's aesthetics to give Gamers(TM) a generic, open world, fetch quest, neon light filled, gun go shooty bang bang, Keanu Reeves wholesome 100 game.

Gamers(TM) need to stop getting so attached to their over hyped video games, need to stop building their entire personality around being excited for a video game, and instead find other hobbies. Play other games even! There are tons of games both indie and with a publisher that you probably never heard of that are really good, primarily because you focus on whatever big Triple A studio has enough advertising money to shove their game in your face 24/7.

It appears very little thought went into interactions with NPCs. Why is it impossible to interact with vendors? In an age of AI, automated speech bots, and genetic algorithms, why am I stuck in the worst of the Deus Ex games from the 2000s? Everyone is a robot.

2.) The physics are a joke.

3.) Immersion is broken at times by things that just don't happen in any life. Why does the player lay sideways to go to sleep?

4.) Customization was made out to be a big selling point. Where is it?

5.) There are still bugs. Just watch the Linus Tech Tips review where someone randomly falls out of the sky. Add bizarre instances of super strength in the man v. car realm and shadow people appearing everywhere and you start to see the breadth of these issues.

6.) There are things games in the 1990s and 2000s did better such as seeing a reflection.

7.) Some of the interactions with the main characters are really cheesy. See the dime store novel reference.

    The pros:

1.) Characters in the main story are engaging even if they have their moments.

2.) The game is absolutely beautiful on PC. I have a 2080 TI with RTX and can play ray tracing on medium without DSSL which is cool. If not fixed, pick it up on Steam during a holiday sale in a few years so you can better understand the historical progression of graphics.

3.) The game can be fixed if the studio actually cares which it appears to more than EA and BioWare.

4.) Combat is fun and you can customize your implants.

    Recommendation:

Wait to buy this for a while. If there is no fix, buy it when it becomes dirt cheap just for the history and artwork. As is, if you are in it for the immersion and game play, once the beauty wears off, it is not worth more than $25.

I really do hope this game is fixed. If they pull a Fallout 76 and add more NPC interaction and immersive aspects, buy the game. Of course, even ME: Andromeda had potential Actually, from an immersion aspect, ME: Andromeda may have been better post-patch than where this game is now. MEA met a really sad end for what it could have been as well. Please don't let it happen to this IP. New IPs are hard to find. Hunker down, fix it quick, and create something more beautiful than looks.

The worst part of this game is probably some of the AI design choices. The cops spawn at random when you break the law and it breaks immersion pretty hard, also other cars don't drive around you if you park in the road so if you leave your car in the street you can end up with a massive traffic pile up instead of the npc's finding a way around your vehicle, it's just lazy designing and I hope they make it better. Overall the story is very interesting and fun and I look forward to playing the game multiple times and seeing what all it has to offer! Expand

First of all I find the colours and graphics too shiny and "epileptic". It hurst when I look at it and driving a car is sometimes not possible due to sun rays gleaming at my eyes.

The game is not user friendly. I consider myself an experienced gamer but it really is all too much for me at once. The mechanics as gunshots and targeting, especially when You use a controller, is so bad that I couldn't even take a good shot at somebody, so how can I win a gunfight? I use nVidia Shield with nVidia gamepad and it is an unbearable torture. Car handling is taken from some cheap 1$ racing simulator i believe.

Then there is the Night City... I don't like the construction of it at all, it is too big for my liking. I loved the vastness of Witcher 3, RDR2 or Kingdom Come: Deliverance where You can wrap Your head around the locations but the Night City just gives me a headache and I don't feel the slightest urge to explore it and believe me, I always try to explore every single place to get all the findings and lore.

At the end: the plot.... honestly I don't know the plot. I spent couple of hours doing some prologue and first act but the game is so annoying and not well thought of that I quit before I was even able to divie into it.

To wrap it up, I am so upset, frustrated, disappointed and sad that the game I was hyped for is not playable for me. Maybe in the future, after the game has been updated I will consider giving it one more try, but as for now I just wait for my refund and look for something else to play.

Shame on You CD Project, shame on You....

Cyberpunk 2077 has an engaging main story line with some standout characters and neat moments (virtual reality segments are especially well done), but it falls completely flat in terms of its world and the quality of its side content. Night City is so empty and superficial that it resembles more the annual versions of Far Cry or Assassin's Creed rather than any of Rockstar Games' works from the past years. In fact, GTA 3 (released in 2001) had more advanced simulation systems in many aspects than this game.

While the main story deserves praise, it is also important to note that due to the incoherent experience that you get out of your time in Night City as a whole, Cyberpunk becomes a far cry (no pun intended) from truly exceptional story-driven games from the recent past, such as The Last of Us, God of War, but even the more action-oriented Control or Quantic Dreams' surprisingly strong and coherent Detroit: Become Human.

Bugs and terribly shading marketing aside, Cyberpunk just does not live up to the lofty standards CDPR set for the game. There is definitely fun to be had here, but it is high time gamers stop treating this studio as the sacred cow of the gaming industry and that gaming outlets provide honest and straightforward criticism instead of vacuous hype - which has definitely been the case leading up to this lackluster game.

As someone who does not play a lot of single player games I managed to complete the story in this game skipping most of the side missions in about 15 hours. The end game was fine. I'm a little salty that you don't get to keep your loot found in the final mission after completing one of several endings and are just rewound to continue doing more side missions and experience alternate endings.

The story was OK. At some points I found it a little boring. I felt forced to help out a lot of dead end characters that didn't really advance the story much and was just filler. There were several events the game led you down as part of the main story that didn't advance the story of the character much but more told a story about the city or outside of the city. Areas that I didn't care about or were not exposed to long enough to care about.

The character leveling system was interesting. The amount of EXP gained by completing the game doing main story mostly felt underwhelming. I would have loved to unlock more than 1 tree. I couldn't figure out how to refund points I invested into the trees at the character creation not understanding how they worked.

With about 20 hours in I'm not sure this game has an end game to keep me playing. I can do more side missions and max out my gear but I'm not sure what's the point when I'm already mowing down enemies with my sword in 1 or 2 hits. I'll be interested to hear about what DLC will bring to the game. I have a feeling that the game in 1-2 years from now will be the complete version.

I've lost all trust in that aspect to them.

I begin whith the first thing you experience: Graphics. Is it any good? Well, yes and no. Very uneven. Some parts of the game look amazing and the citys architecture is fenominal, but everything that isnt tied to the main story or the side missions have a noticable lower graphical standard and the difference is too big its distracting.

Sound design is the same way. The sounds that are there are phenomenal and the music is captivating but then there are actions that completely lack sound like breaking certain windows and crafting makes no sound at all.

The stories told in this game are slightly above avarage but nothing a will reflect upon. There is no satisfaction after completing a questline like when youve done something in the Witcher 3 for example.

The biggest problem this game has though is the main character V and his/hers trusty sidekick Keanu. V is the most generic character ive seen in a videogame since Cole from the first two infamous games. Grizzly voiced tough guy with a heart of gold paired with an overrated actor that has only put out mindless action movies the past decade that pops in out of nowhere to say something snarky. Either you have a silent protaganist like in skyrim, or you give us a character that already has a story and a real personality.

Gun play is suprisingly good, i thought that aspect of the game would be bad and the role playing would be good but its completely reversed.
Guns have a real kick to them and shooting holes and limb off of people have never been this much fun. The cyberware is a good way to customize your character to how you want to play. Wanna be a sneaky netrunner who hacks into people and things or do you want to be a superfast ninja that cuts people up without anyone has the time to react? The choice is yours.

So if youre looking for an futuristic action game with a decent story then i would highly recoment this, just dont expect to be sucked into an amazing story of how cyberenhancments is changing us as people, its not there.

First of all, this game is fantastic on some levels. It truly has a great story that is very gripping and so far has plenty of twists and turns. It’s a great dystopian story that should be experienced by anyone who is a fan of these types of things.

Graphically, it’s beautiful, very beautiful actually. The design of Night City and the outlying areas are fantastic and it’s easy to see why a game like this took so long to make, everything is dripping with detail and it’s vibrant. While it doesn’t look good as the trailers, the in-game graphics do look good on a half-decent PC.

The voice acting is incredible, including Keanu Reeves who truly nailed his role. The addition of Keanu Reeves makes it a little better because he does such a great job with his role. The music is great and has that cyberpunk vibe.

The gameplay is fun. It plays like other looter shooters/RPG's out there, like Destiny 2 and Borderlands. Some enemies can be a little Bulletspongey but I feel that if you do side quests it’s not that bad because you gain better equipment which lets them go down quicker and the progression systems are very nice.

It so far has a great story, with incredible acting, great pacing with a few minor areas of padding in the story and a very fast-paced feel to it, with great direction. The story is engaging and is keeping me wanting to see how it ends.

Now… normally I’d give a game like this an easy 9/10, with only a point knocked off for some less then stellar side quests and minor pacing issues but this is where the game takes its biggest hit for me. The technical issues. They’re bad. Day one, they were abysmal, made me consider just refunding it and trying it again in a year or so when the inevitable ‘complete’ edition comes out with all the DLC. But the added patches are helping.

Still, this game needed probably 6 more months to iron everything out. It’s appalling that they’d delay it to now to release it in this state. Sure, it would’ve created controversy but the controversy would’ve been less if it came out with no major technical issues. It’s not just graphical issues either. I’ve missed important dialog options that will affect the story. I’ve also had instances where an item will pop up but it won’t go away for a few minutes, meaning I can’t acquire any other items. I found clipping issues as well, including my character dying when he shouldn’t have. Most of the issues are graphical hiccups which I can tolerate but when it happens more than it should, that does hamper the experience. Nothing is more immersion-breaking than having to restart just to get past a glitch. AI also has issues. Cops don’t even attempt to chase you. I don’t know if it’s due to a faulty script, considering the Witcher 3 had better AI and it’s made by the same company.

So, should you buy it? Yes… but it might be best to wait a few months. Right now, it’s still very rough around the edges. The story, overall gameplay, voice acting, and everything else is great but the technical issues bring what should be an easy 9/10 down to IMO a 7/10 at best. When it's fixed, it’ll probably be fantastic but right now, they released it too early and they should be held accountable for this.

I’m not going to overreact here and say it’s the worst game I’ve ever played, but it’s pretty disappointing. Here are the positive things I have to say about the game:

On the surface, the side quests seem deep (but when you realize only two or three of the storylines have any depth, you realize they are actually just main quests in the wrong section of the journal. 3. The colors and sounds of the game are refreshing and unique. 4. The gunplay and melee combat are pretty fun. Ready for the negatives? I’m only going to list the first few that come to mind:
    1. This game is not open world. It’s a linear storyline in a big box. There is literally nothing worth doing other than the main storyline if you count the few friend side quests as main story, which in my opinion you should. 2. Customization is nonexistent. The character creation at the beginning gives you barely any control other than skin color, hair type (which you’re stuck with forever), and for some reason genital/breast size (which ends up serving absolutely no purpose other than laughing when you change your character’s clothes or when the game glitches out and shows your dong/boobies through your outfit). 3. Lack of consequences. Nothing you do matters...like...literally nothing. Kill everyone, or no one...no one cares more than one line of dialogue worth. Murder 200 people in front of the cops, won’t matter. Want to punch a storyline character in the face? Sorry you can’t because they didn’t have time to program the consequences of doing that. 4. Glitches. I’m not even going to take the time to list any...that would be beating a dead horse at this point...but trust me, they’re everywhere. I haven’t completed a single mission without seeing a glitch that makes Skyrim look like a clean launch. 5. The cars...why? You get calls and texts CONSTANTLY from contacts telling you about cars...but here’s the problem...there’s no freaking reason to get any of them! The driving is horrible and the cars all drive exactly the same and look really stupid. The messages and calls you get about them are the equivalent of a pop-up ad. 6. The graphics. Oh...the graphics...keep in mind that I have an RTX 3080, so I’ve likely experienced the best this game has to offer. For the first 60-90 minutes I thought “okay this game looks kinda good...the skin textures are cool, the hair looks terrible, but okay if this game is enormous this is acceptable.” Well...the game isn’t enormous and only the main characters look good. Literally everyone in the city looks like a grand theft auto character except your storyline contacts and only half of those characters look good. The screenshots you saw of Keanu are borderline false advertisement. Think back to the days when a PS1 game would only show the cutscenes in the advertisements. Metal Gear Solid V’s graphics put this game to shame. Who knows? Maybe in 7 years this game will look great when RTX 3080s are on sale on Craigslist for 40 bucks. 7. Tedious. Most of the game is honestly tedious. Way too many parts that lock you out of certain movements and you’re stuck bored listening to the same stupid dialogue after a horribly placed checkpoint because it locks you out of saving for 20 minutes straight. I could go on with my complaints, but I’m going to wrap this up by saying that this game in no way deserves a 0/10. 5/10 is still a failing score, but there was SOME fun to be had playing this game, but at this point I don’t see myself giving the DLC a chance. Even if the game worked perfectly it’s just not a fun game.

The game looks great, but has lots of graphical glitches just as it was with gameplay. Ray tracing adds a lot of visual fidelity, but was not worth the performance cost.

Gameplay was really buggy, but it doesn't bother me until very late in the game. Vehicle physics is good, different cars feel different to drive. It has great potential for a good racing experience, but it falls short with terrable AI who can't even drive well enough on a regular road, so they have to teleport cars behind players to look like they are catching up.

The problem with gameplay is its numerical design. Players become way too strong way too early, especially with blades and hacking. I can instant kill bosses since around 30% of my play through, yet I didn't even bother to upgrade my gadgets. Gunplay is fun and challenging. So if you want to have fun during combat, don't play hacker or blade.

Stealth gameplay is weird and broken by stupid and unstable enemey AI. They sometimes can't see you even when you crawl in from of them, but sometimes react instantly without seeing you when you enter a room.

Like Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077 has really good stories along with impressionable characters. There're hundreds of snippets of stories to read, but most of them don't make much sense at all. I can see developer's effort in building an immersive world with lots of little details just like in Witcher 3, but it's just too much work.

In conclusion, I think CD Project Red was blinded by Witcher 3's success, and chewed more than they can handle. Bugs are just a result of it. 7 years is a long time for development, even for an AAA title from an experienced developer. Yet they still released the game in an unfinished state. That's just the proof of CDPR being a young company.

I originally wanted to give Cyberpunk 2077 an 8.5. But I removed 4.5 because I chosed the "bad ending". You can feel the developer is intentionally and repeatedly telling you how bad your final choices are through NPCs' dialogues. Yet I do not agree with their liberal values. But the game still drags me through an almost 2-hour long sequence, just to tell me how bad my ending is. It feels like a punishment for me, the player, for not agreeing on their liberal values.

The best metaphor for Cyberpunk 2077 is Johnny Silverhand himself. A messiah, a mix of Kurt Cobain and Che Guevara, a talented singer who loves to shape his own legend and has a charming personality but loses the struggle with his own demons. The same goes for the game. It tells a great story and forced me to ask myself difficult questions, but many of its gameplay mechanics do not evolve and its technical state upon release was abysmal. Cyberpunk’s true hero is not a person, but Night City – a vibrant, living creature of great diversity. The beauty of the metropolis is striking. [01/2021, p.22]

Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most disturbing and mind-blowing RPGs in history, where every decision has a deep impact on our trail. CD Projekt RED tosses us to the center of a city filled with disgusting delights where every character deserves our attention in an immersive experience and overall, very rewarding. From the sarcastic and shadowy tone imposed by the countless scenes in the game, to the flexibility we have on the choices to face every situation that is presented, Night City is truly memorable. It’s a shame that the countless bugs spoil or diminish the impact of some resounding moments, but we are without a question, in the presence of one of the best games in 2020.

Measured against the extreme expectations, Cyberpunk 2077 can't fulfill any of them. But all in all, despite the countless small weaknesses and inconsistences, with interesting characters, great story and dialogues or the freedom concerning gameplay, CD Projekt delivers a unique and great RPG that every fan of the genre needs to play.
