But let's be honest, it is not Witcher 3. The main problem is that game doesnt excel at anything - shooting is good but not great, driving around is good but not great, visuals are good but not great, story line is good but not great, characters are good but not great. On top of this you have some bugs (even if not that many in my case, but I guess there are systems which are more buggy).

I must say I am disappointed, I am CDPR fan, was waiting for this game, preordered (first time ever, as a gratitude token for W3) and this happened. I can understand how people are annoyed

I haven't run into any of the technical issues others have had and the game runs great maxed out for me. My biggest gripe with this game is a complete lack of "open world" that was promised. Feels like Cyberpunk 2077 is more Marketing then an actual game, you can run through the city hear quite murmuring and distant gunshots but the world is DEAD. Coming from GTA , RDR2 and Watch Dogs there is literally nothing going on this "Massive Open World". The AI is also just as terrible and the Cop mechanic is just plain broken. AI doesn't respond to much of anything short of direct, in public view acts of violence then just spawns crappy AI cops out of no where. Just hijack a car while being wanted by the police and drive away, they won't even chase. You can find a group of cops standing around a staged "scene" kill them, wait for the reinforcements to spawn in from thin air, kill them until it gets too dicey then just drive away a little. Come back, loot bodies and repeat for easy exp and money. AI cars also just are programed to drive into view and back out, if you block the road with a car they will just sit there and form a endless queue. No honks, no going around, they just sit and accept their fate.

IF Cyberpunk 2077 wasn't marketed as the next big step in RPGs, the next evolution in Open World Games it'd be a solid 9 out of 10. This game is markedly lacking in many aspects. It feels like a games that mechanics were designed 10 years ago and stay there. If this game was released in 2012 it would be Game of the Year. It feels dated, old, uninspired and a bit rushed. This is far from the next step in gaming as it was advertised. It is a solid Action Adventure game billed as ground breaking Open World RPG. Fixing the dead world and fixing the AI would go a long way, would be far from perfect but a good step forward.

As the state of this game is now, don't consider to buy it unless you have a super PC with an 3080 RTX. Otherwise the performance is just sub-par.

As for last-gen consoles owners (PS4, Xbox) just don't buy it, it's unplayable. you'll get crashes, graphics that looks like a PS2 game, and dips to 10 FPS making it more like a slideshow.

CD Projekt Red lied to you, console owners.

Maybe on PS5 or Xbox series next, after CD Projekt Red has released multiple updates and patches for those platforms, it might be playable on consoles.

No wonder they didn't allow reviewers to use their own screenshots/videos in their PC reviews, and certainly no wonder they didn't send out console versions to reviewers so the obvious problems with those versions couldn't be published beforehand.

The current version, even with the day 0/1 patch, is a beta, and the consumers are the play-testers. it seems obvious that CD Projekt Red had to release this before the holiday season, no matter what, even if it means giving themselves a bad name forever.

Well done CD, you just utterly ruined your reputation being one of the "good guys" in gaming industry, please take your seat next to EA and Ubisoft at the table of shame. I suggest you give all that money you tricked people out of back to them, and dissolve the company. but not before you put out enough patches to make this game remotely playable.

If you hype a game this much, don't be surprised if it backfires in your face like a nuclear bomb when it turns out to be crap.

In the 7 hours or so of gameplay so far I've experienced at least 5 bugs, 2 visual, 3 AI related. Playing on normal I've also found AI to be exceedingly stupid, 80% of the time the AI will just try to bum rush me leading to their swift, imminent death. When the AI isn't doing this they are completely ignoring me to shoot at other AI even when I am standing right next to them shooting them. PC controls are also garbage as there are a lot of keys you flat out cannot bind. A lot of gameplay mechanics tend to also be an awkward mix of RPG and FPS elements mashed together, for example the "armour" you wear also helps with your "street cred", however inexplicably you can pick up items that look like a 70 year olds cardigan and somehow that will give you more street cred than the cool leather biker jacket you have on. This mechanic simply is not needed, nor is it welcome due to the broken nature of it especially with so many other ways you can improve street cred. Graphically the game is a real letdown as well it is painfully obvious this game has been made to run on 7+ year old console hardware. If you upgraded your GPU special for this game you wasted your money it'll run nicely on an overclocked RX580/590 with optimised memory timings. In my case that means £370 needlessly down the drain in total as I went and spent £320 on a 5700XT expecting this game to at least try and push some sort of boundary... it does not.

TLDR; Wait for the proper next gen version of the game as this version should have been aborted before birth.

I've played 52 hours and completed the main story and all side missions. I have not bothered to replay on different life paths because being a corpo on my main playthrough had negligible impact to the game.

You can drive.. you can do missions, you can do side missions, and that's it. Those are the three main things you do in Cyberpunk. There are no extra activities, mini games, or anything resembling a non-linear experience.

The mission system allows a choice of stealth or all out guns blazing.. there are very few dynamic mission choices that allow you to solve problems in your own way. I can't blackmail an NPC into giving me the objective because in a previous mission I found evidence of them doing something nasty. That kind of continuity does not exist in Cyberpunk's world. The most I can do is make decisions which lead down linear paths. Often the same path with an inconsequential alteration frankly.

Unlike Deus Ex or similar games, I can't talk my way past a guard or npc, I can't disguise myself and blag my way into a lounge to steal the objective. I can't choose to steal the objective from the transport it's in or something like that. I can't open a sewer grate and sneak under the building to come up inside the place etc. There are almost never alternative approaches to a mission. It's just a straight linear experience. It's always blast your way in or sneak in, and fetch something.

On the subject of npcs, you can go and talk to an NPC but they just spout a canned one line response. Why can't I have a conversation with them? That has been done in so many RPGs even dating back to games in the 80s. You should be able to talk to NPCs and have a basic branching dialogue. It really should not have been difficult to do this.

There is no player customization, the items you pick up in game are VERY lack luster for the most part. There is one badass gun that Johnny has and when you finally get it they **** nerf it on you. What a **** killjoy.

It's not a living, breathing world where an npc will remember your face and throw you out of a club.

There are many interesting locations in the world and you visit them once for a single generic mission. Inside those places there is typically nothing. No interesting items or things to interact with, just nice decorum if you're lucky. Often the design of bars or places is VERY confusing and poorly signed so you'll end up racing from room to room trying to find this chip.

Picking up items is a nightmare they will probably never patch because I'd say it has to be fixed per item which would be a monumental task.

The game was clearly far too ambitious and they were forced to release it once they had the graphics and story done because people wanted ROI. Well.. jokes on those people a good portion of sales are getting refunded now and I certainly will not be rushing to buy the next game. I'll wait for reviews and reactions next time.

I can only pray they have content lined up for this game because it genuinely is a massive let down if the only thing it has is this Johnny story. I love Keanu Reeves too but I did not expect the entire game to revolve around his story in the game.

I would die and have to reload my games, this has happened twice now.

    Not including bugs 6/10:
    But why only a 6?
-The gunplay feels old and bullet spongy, it’s basically a tuned down borderlands. To kill enemies without the right upgrades, you literally have to shoot their heads like 10 times and throw 3 grenades at them. Luckily the AI is so bad it’s very easy to do.
    - Some large areas of the map are crazy barren. There’s no cars, no people, despite their being considerable infrastructure. Clearly just sets for missions to be ran on.
-the missions are scripted very heavily. The dialogue options mostly go 1 direction despite you wanting to try another. There are instances where your HP loss is a fixed value, and the enemies very obviously have the same outcome regardless of how much you shoot them.
-There’s not much to do in the city aside from shoot angry dudes. There’s basically only spots with enemies that are hanging around, no other forms of interaction. -No flying vehicles, and the ground based vehicles you have drive like **** The cars don’t feel like they have any future tech associated with them, and the motorcycle physics are a joke. If you drive a big truck, the camera sits behind it and you can’t see. You can’t even shoot out tires on cars. Hijacking requires you to have a certain skill level to have the strength to take it from someone; even if they’re dead and the window is shot open.
-there has yet to be a single substantial NPC or interaction I have found outside of the games missions/story arc. Where the hell is all the substance in this world beyond the cyberpunk looks? Hot dog vendors literally just tell you “The **** you want?” And then proceed to run out of generic dialogue options. People in the club are just like, “Uhhh, can I help you?”
-Police do not have the AI to drive after you, they spawn after you.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The good: Nightcity looks pretty.

    The bad:

    1. Enemies are bullet sponges, you need multiple headshots to kill them.

    2. AI is atrocious, to the point of being nonexistent:

Cops literally spawn on top of you and execute you if you do something illegal, even in the desert. Also, cops cannot use vehicles at all. Yes, car chases are not on the menu, except for some scripted missions.
NPC don't react to the context, they just move around on predetermined paths and don't do anything else. Same 1-2 lines, same movement. You can watch someone knock on a door for hours if that's your jam. That respective door will not open :)

    3. Customization is really bland:

-weapons have 2 slots for mods and don't really do anything special. Only the shown DPS number matters. Clothing is the same with the added disadvantage that you can't decide how you look when you equip something with better stats.

    4. Character development:

The character stats + perks are absolutely forgettable, Torchlight 1 or Diablo 2 had better skill stats/trees and those are 20 year old games. Why couldn't they just copy something from Fallout/ Deus Ex etc if they couldn't come up with something decent ? Warning: melee sucks, invest in guns. Also stealth is a joke/waste of time. You can't complete missions being stealthy. That may change after patch 2.31 though (we're at patch 1.04 now )

5.The story itself is generic: the NPCs that give you jobs are just talking heads on a phone screen, there's zero connection to anyone.

TL,DR: the game systems lack (any) depth, AI is nonexistent. Wait for patch 2.31 and buy it on a 50% sale at least. The game feels and plays like a F2P game, but has the gall to call itself AAA Title and wants 60$/€.

The world we were promised: deep and open with all of these stores and buildings!

The world we got: A very big open base map, then a bunch of tall buildings that are empty or even worse, completely inaccessible. Stores that are all copied and pasted, 1 after another. Quests that are no better than WoW Vanilla quests that are 15 years old at this point.

In my opinion, they got to 2018 and saw they weren't able to deliver the things they promised with their engine. Instead of shifting or retooling the engine, they decided they'd go hire a big voice actor that is popular in the genre and rewrite the entire game. I wish I had some actual details for behind the scenes, and maybe they will come out some day, but I have a strong gut feeling that this is pretty much what occurred.

Overall, I give Cyberpunk 2077 a 40%. Nothing new. Tons of bugs. A very forgettable and unfinished story.

The gameplay is very shallow and the choices inconsequential. It's more borderlands than witcher 3, and there is very little punk to be found.
It's shiny, but not chrome and the game feels early access with many pointless mechanics or half assed concepts and designs

CD Projekt finally bit off more than they could chew.

As a studio they have a long standing reputation for charging headlong into problems, verging on the brink of bankruptcy, throwing crunch and "can-do" attitude at it. As a studio they have a long standing reputation for charging headlong into problems, verging on the brink of bankruptcy, throwing crunch and "can-do" attitude at it. And it has worked for them in the past; Witcher 2, Witcher 3 and Thronebreaker are highly regarded games. As are the Witcher 3 expansions. Even Witcher 1, despite its many bugs, shortcomings and clunky control issues at the time, is mostly remembered fondly these days.

But the day finally came when Icarus flew too close to the sun, when throwing crunch and man-hours at a problem wasn't enough. With Cyberpunk 2077 the studio forged into a completely new territory for them; completely new visual style, new weapon mechanics, driving mechanics, hacking mechanics, completely different lore and universe etc.

The smart thing do to would have been to make a smaller, tighter story-driven game in the cyberpunk universe. Something to dip their toes while figuring out shooting and driving mechanics and how really big modern cities work. But no, that apparently isn't the CD Projekt way. Their new game was to be the biggest and boldest interpretation of a modern future city ever conceived, intended to make Rockstar look like wannabe upstarts.

But sadly it didn't work, whatever the failings of Cyberpunk 2077 are they aren't to be blamed on the developers but on the outright hubris exhibited by upper management. You can't make such a big studio turn on a dime and have them develop a type of game they've never developed before. Or maybe you can but it's an extremely high-risk play and in this case here the end product has suffered enormously, the reputation of CDPR has been forever tarnished and I'm sure there are hundreds of developers who wonder if it was really worth their time.

CD Projekt needs a serious management overhaul, as a studio they've grown massively over the years but they've seriously underestimated the long-term planning and steadfast vision required to run such a studio. They managed to make Witcher 3 because it was a universe, setting and collection of tools they were familiar with. But when the time came to go in a new direction they grossly underestimated the difficulty of doing so, this is not a sign of good management or leadership.

I would recommend to CD Projekt that their next game be a Witcher universe game with a smaller scope and tighter plot than Witcher 3, and make it perfect and bug free. Something to get back on their fans good side again, and patch Witcher 3 with better graphics and a few bug fixes and tweaks for free. Then in 6-7 years time revisit Cyberpunk again, and this time make the game you actually wanted to make because clearly you didn't manage it this time. The new Cyberpunk 2 team should start now.

This game is a shell of what it could be, features where trimmed to the extent that, instead of playing and actual open world RPG with thousands of options, places to go, skills to learn, you end up in a dead (although beautiful) city. The NPCs IA is one of the dumbest I've ever seen in a game, the police system is straight up something out of a test/alpha build, the combat IA is also extremely disappointing, the vehicle system is also difficult and some vehicles are almost impossible to drive, theres absolutely NO CUSTOMIZATION in this game. There are a lot of problems and the game is in rough state, and I didn't even mentioned all the bugs this game has. The most bugs I've ever seen in a "finished" game.

I still can't fathom to understand how this game got so much praise from international reviewers that couldn't even see all the glaring problematic features, beyond the bugs. The amount of 100/100 astouneshes me, the more I play the game the more disappointed I was with it and after I finished it, I realized what this game could've been. It really could've been the best game of the decade, instead it will go down as one of the most disastreous projects in the AAA industry to ever see the light of day.

I pre-ordered this game, played, enjoyed the main story and the beauty that is Night City, and that's it. If I were to do it again, I would wait until a good steam sale came up to pick this game with 50% off only for the story and the benchmarks that the city produces in my system.

It could've been one of the best games of all time. But it is not. It is a reminder for us to never, EVER pre order games.

RDR2 is closer to what I would consider next-gen open world. They didn't even try with Cyberpunk 2077. Driving physics suck, especially the motor bikes. GPS is not working properly, changes routes while you're going, switches objectives on the way for no reason, etc. Distance to quests is not shown in the journal, wtf?! Bugs everywhere, NPCs glitching through walls, bodies flying around... One of the funniest things I've ever seen are the traffic lights that switch to green when you're approaching in a car (even when they just switched to red) because implementing logic for stopping and waiting is so difficult, it's actually next-next-gen. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It is a very disappointing and remains an ultimately flawed game. It is erratic, has what I think is a poor and largely pointless story line in which, the protagonist is basically a dead man. It offers a totally meaningless experience in which basically, everything you do, all the people you meet, the jobs, the good or the bad you choose etc is totally pointless because regardless, you are going to die either at the end or shortly after the end. The story breaks the game almost form the start point and it's quite obvious where the writers were going to take this story regardless of their other options because like most writers these days, they think that this concept of meaningless and futility is what they want to produce and establish in people and societies mind. It is weak writing, poor in its entire concept and does the opposite of why people play games. On top of this the game is still full of bugs, pit falls and a significant level of barren boring dialogue and minor stories.

CDPR get some things right like the multiple avenues to complete most things. Do I punch my way, sneak my way, talk my way of think my way through? They all work. Levelling up seems slow and I'm never really sure how it happens when it does but it's an interesting progression tree.

Weapons are, apart from a few exceptions very vanilla and samey. Death happens far too easily. Choices are actually quite linear which is the opposite of what was supposed to happen... There are lots of things to pick on (and this is after years worth of improvement).

The biggest and most painful failures though are the fact that CDPR clearly WANT the world to be like this. They have publicly said that cybernetics and human machine interface is the way to go and they clearly have a love fest over their own Cyberpunk ideas that they are advertising the ideas and ideals of such an environment. I find this terrifying and sadly I think it is part of a mass advertising spree to adapt people to accept such a progression away from humanity. Maybe I'm wrong but just like the GLBTI stuff that was light about 10-20 years ago and now infects everything from Health and Safety to western attitudes to politics with other powers and even of abusive control of other, weaker nations. I have a hunch CDPR have become tangled up in something much bigger than games and interesting stories. This is harmful to society in general but also destroys the gaming industry.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It breaks my heart to give this game such a poor review.. I won't even dock it for bugs although there are plenty. The biggest disappointments for me are the extremely short story.. the sub-par boring side quests (100's of Go kill 4 choomba's standing around, where half the time their AI doesn't even kick in at all) and the sheer amounts of clearly cut content.

Your home has no point or meaning, the NPC's you meet and make choices around just disappear and do nothing in the story.. the car driving is really awful.. there are no unscripted chase sequences or shooting out your window.

The city is completely lifeless, NPC's have zero interaction outside of spouting the same voice line over and over.. you can't enter any buildings at all.. and the ones you can enter are usually just like a empty store.. that sells some random items you don't need.

This game lacks any life or exploration. It's shocking to me that this game took 8 years to make when Witcher 3 took half that time is exponentially more interesting, indepth and exciting to explore.

It has its atmosphere going for it, yes. The plot is overdone, but still well-written, and contains enough twists and parallel lines to give it SOME measure of replayability if you want to see all possible variations.
It has some well-written characters, mostly the available romance options. The major characters have actual ARCS, going through development as the game progresses, and I have to say the models for these are top-notch too. Of course, this kind of attention comes with tradeoffs, more on that later.
Finally, there's enough lore and filler content to really flesh out the world. Shards, newscasts, dialogs, etc. give the world a well-written, complete atmosphere.

But then there are the negatives. And there are far too many to ignore.
First off, the glitches. More than once, I've had the game "forget" playing a dialog, so I'm left wondering what just happened and what should I answer. Then there are the times when people clip into objects in the scene - when it's just a civilian, it might be funny, but when it's the last enemy standing between you and a completely stealthy mission, it's just plain infuriating; not to mention when your bike's front wheel clips into something in the road and catapults you 64 stories high which immediately fails your mission.
Balance is also more than halfway out the window. I had a specific build in mind to start with (Monowire+hacking, with a side of assault when things go loud), so I leveled with that in mind, emphasizing Cool. But then it turns out Monowire is based on Cool but plays off the Street Brawler skill tree, while playing like a bladed weapon by all accounts (meaning it should play off of Blades instead, given that it cuts and applies Bleeding). Hacking can also be blown out of balance, allowing me to destroy entire platoons one by one with Short Circuit+Synaptic Burnout combos, while staying outside mission zones to avoid triggering the enemy AI.
And finally, the models. While the major characters get detailed, well-sculpted models, the "extras" get a choice of maybe ten generic models. Although the game was advertised with unique civilians populating the city, in reality, everyone is just a combination of a generic model, a generic behavior (which consists of "walk at constant speed", "talk to partner", and "stand still looking around") and a single sentence to say on contact.

Overall, it's hard to believe this game has been in development for eight years. It shows an astonishing lack of bughunting AND playtesting for its hype and budget, and does not justify its price in any way.

I love sneaking around, and then picking off a bunch of targets from the perfect vantage point! I'd rather work for David Sarif, than be V! I am a David Sarif loyalist! I love Sarif Industries way more! The stealth mechanics are no better than the ones found in Perfect Dark on the N64! Also I don't believe cloaking is a thing in Cyberpunk 2077, and where is the Typhoon Blast System? Car combat in Cyberpunk 2077 is practically non existent! Even Redline: Gang Warfare 2066 (a 1999 PC exclusive game) has it figured out better for a single player game! Coop could also solve this problem too, but driving mainly exists to get from mission to mission which is extremely lame! CDPR please go play the olde console exclusive game called; Roadkill! Ripperdocs only give you a menu for upgrades, and never actually do any surgery! Car upgrades are not a thing in Cyberpunk 2077, and CDPR should have played Gran Turismo, and every game that copies it's formula, with my favorite being Flatout 2 which plays a lot like the olde Midway Rush games! I only love arcade racing games, and really hate simulators, and only brought up Gran Turismo because that is the game that seriously started the vehicle upgrade trend in racing games with way more options than Road Rash 3 or some of the older racing games (look at that game's vehicle count)! I love upgrading my vehicles as a reward, and it also makes racing games far more immersive! You can't use the boats in the game, or fly! The character creator is nowhere near as good as the one used in the Saints Row game series! All you get are presets with no fine tuning adjustments like the Saints Row games have! Also the ending of the game is disappointing when you decide to be sent back to Earth, because there is no FMV to show this! Expand

    - začátek hry vás do příběhu neuvede. Prostě vás hra hodí po hloupých animacích přímo do prostřed města. Když nemáte žádnou minulost, těžko se hledá motivace pro budoucnost.
    - podle mě je hra promarněná příležitost a za tok dlouhé čekání nestála. :(

They promise a lot and they lied. Not the bugs are the problem but the very poor AI, an open world from the year 2000 (gothic 2 have better daily routines for npc and more dinamic open world then this and that game is from 2005) and poor mechanics.

Same thing with cars, look at them and look away, look back and all new cars...LOL. The rest of the game is amazing but they janked it with a simplistic traffic and ai crime system that is just pathetic and not fun to interact with at all. Gunfights with npcs just stand there letting you shoot them, police will literally spawn on top of you even if you're on top of a building! Just really broke immersion in a game you are supposed to be able to immerse yourself into.

Cyberpunk is essentially a 2007 game made using modern tech. It's incredibly janky and immediately feels very dated. The UI is a mess, the controls are clunky and combat feels like something out of Fallout 3 or some B-tier mid 2000s shooter. The world is lifeless and just serves as window dressing.

The "lifepaths" also deserve a mention, because it's obvious that they have been pretty much cut out from the game almost completely, at least the one I've played. The corpo prologue can be completed in FIFTEEN minutes or so. It has ZERO actual gameplay and could've been easily presented as a cutscene instead.

I should also mention PC performance. In short, don't even try running this game if your hardware is not significantly above recommended specs (and that's for playing at 1080p with Ray Tracing off). I have a Ryzen 5 3600 and a GTX1660 Super and I can barely get above 45FPS average on a mix of mostly medium and low settings. So basically recommended specs = minimum specs.

You can kill people through walls just by looking at them on very hard difficulty. The same old looter shooter borderlands style mechanics from 10 years ago. There's no innovation. You are given no player agency, V cannot say no to anything (even if you say no it really means yes). Even if they fix all the bugs this is still a mediocre game at best.

As far as gameplay goes the stealth system is shallow and gunplay mechanics are dull and slippery targeting. There are precious few options for bladed weapons and shotguns early in the game. Early hacking options are only good for distractions and barely noticeable debuffs to enemies. You need a deep investing in a stat to be powerful in it, making jack of all trades characters unviable. When you add all of these factors up the first several hours of the game is a slog and you'll find yourself reloading the game often and constantly mashing the inhaler to heal yourself.

And then there are the quality of life issues. in spite of the amazing character customization options you will only see your character in mirrors, photo mode, and the inventory screen. There are no third person cutscenes. Dialog options are stilted and often pigeonhole you into being a jerk, even to characters who are presented as sympathetic people. The game decides who V likes and who V doesn't like and if you have a different opinion you can basically shove it. You can't preview gear before buying it and some of the gear is just ugly.

Finally, there are the freezes and game crashes that happen at least hourly on the XBox version. I'm playing on the XBox One X and can only imagine that performance is much worse on the base system.

This game was in development for years for what is now considered "last gen" consoles and it's painfully obvious that the 3 week delay to better optimize for consoles didn't get the job done. I'd rather wait another year for this game than play it as is. Hopefully CD Projekt Red patches the issues soon, but right now I have a game that's equal parts frustration and enjoyment.

City breathing with life - tons of vending machines, and arcade games that you cannot use, no mini games, cannot eat in the bars, cannot drink in clubs, cannot dance or do any activity.
there is no driving AI, so cars follow predetermined paths, if you stop in the middle of the street all the cars will just stop and stay like this untill you move.

Pathetic AI - cops spawning behind you, enemies see you trough walls, broken sealth mechanics
Character progression - basicly you dont need any upgrades or because they dont give you a **** you dont get new abilities beside hacking which is medicore at best

Stats on clothes - you basicly equip gear with the best stats and you look like a clown, or you look somehow serious but have worse stats.

Branching story with multiple choices - mostly linear story with additional dialog options that changes nothing, maybe few choices that actually have some impact on your story.

Only good thing is graphics, game looks amazing BUT only on high end pc.
With PS4 and Xbox the game looks and runs like **** but CDPR said just days before lauch that it runs well on old gen. Yeah, lying straing into eyes to boost sales.

So, let's pretend that game runs perfectly, with no bugs, glitches, crashes and so on. Is Cyberunk a good game?

Well, no. It's not terrible either, but it's definitely far from what it was advertised as. The city looks nice,
but there's nothing to do outside of questlines, so you don't rerally get to "live" Night City.

The story is not half bad, but it's totally on tracks. There are a bunch of endings (which quality may vary), but other than that, the main questline doesn't change in the slightest depending on what you have chosen previously.

The game lacks some features that were standardized in much, much older games. Not only you don't get to change your body, you don't even get to cut your hair. You don't get to customize your cars, not even on the inside. If i have to be honest, i've come to realize that the game was flawed when while exploring night city, i took my time to explore a cool looking club, and i couldn't even order from the barman.

And now, we can step back into reality, and remember that the whole game is -again- a buggy mess. There was not a single moment that i was enjoying that wasn't ruined by a bug of some sort. It actually became quite funny to witness all the janky physics and the disappearing stuff throughout the game.

Without the obvious technical issues, CP would be barely passable, but definitely far from the standard that i would have expected from CDPR. Not only cyberpunk is far from being a game changer in the GDR universe, it doesn't even get right things that we saw in games from more than a decade ago.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I am now never going to get overly hyped for a game, especially if they release gameplay trailers way before it gets released. The game looks good I guess, but there are lots of games that look better. The AI is awful, the story is mediocre, and the main character isn't cool or likeable. The only thing this game has going for it is its aesthetic. The cyberpunk aesthetic is great and I love the futuristic open world setting. However the world is an inch deep and a mile wide. There's not much to do besides the same old 5-10 minute side missions and the main story. The story isn't something I want to play more than once, even though the game was constructed for you to do that.

Legitimately more than half of the main story is sitting through boring conversations. After putting up with these for a few hours, I started viciously jamming the skip button as quickly as I could because the conversations just go on and on and on. It's just time filler. The story also feels like a bunch of setup for three hours then random filler stuff in the middle, and then you get to the end and complete the setup stuff. I wasn't invested, I didn't care about the characters, and the story isn't very in depth.

The combat isn't bad, but the hitboxes aren't always accurate. The cyberware and mods are really cool and I think the hacking is one of the most enjoyable aspects of gameplay. Regular combat is very normal and uninteresting though.

This on top of the glitches and bugs just makes this game a massive disappointment. After finishing the main story, I probably won't play it again until they fix it.

I haven’t experienced all the bugs that have littered the internet I have come across a game breaking one on my PS5. An important NPC necessary to progress the main campaign isn’t spawning and so my progress is blocked, leaving me to level up doing the side quest only. I’ve been able to look past the other bugs in the game but they shouldn’t even be in there in the first place.

    - No crime system
    - Cluttered HUD
    - Worst loot system ever
    - Short and unexploited world

I have been refunded and will only buy the game later on sale OR if they patch/improve or give modding tools to make something of the world they crafted.
CDPR just forgot to build a game in their 60$ early access.

No major fixes or improvements, game still feels sluggish, and really nothing to do in this game after completing it and seeing all the boring endings accept of the panam ending which is the best one imo. Overall im keeping my old review below the update but honestly dont bother with this game anymore.

After going ahead and completing the game and waiting for more patches to come out i promised myself i will delete my old review and edit the review and truly describe how much of the hype was real about cyberpunk 2077.
Im gonna start by saying that the people comparing the game to GTA or any rockstar titles, just note that rockstar has more than half of CDPR's staff and have a bigger budget as well as investors and backers and have much more experience in open world games. So if youre trying to trash other open world games that are not made by rockstar then your comparison is awful! and you probably didnt play any bethesda or ubisoft (which is the worst of the bunch) games at all! and you should appreciate was CDPR delivers in this game and you will see that they truly make games with a ton of heart and soul.
After i got that out of the way here is my review:
I want to say that Cyberpunk 2077 is such a beautiful game in all its aspects, with so much attention to detail in dialogues with NPC's and the open world and especially the amazing night city. Especially when playing on a high end PC youre going to experience RTX like ever before and i dint think visually there is no game thats matching Cyberpunk! The game is so freaking beautiful and so realistic and alive. But one thing is for sure its missing a TON of physics to be implemented into the engine.
Other than that, the gameplay is very very fun but at times it can be meh like and not realistic or fun at all. When you start guns blazing everywhere its not fun at all like in COD but feels more like far cry, heck even the NPC's during combat act like the ridiculous NPC's like in far cry so you wont find anything interesting when you get noticed, rather i found stealth to be much more fun in the game and far more interesting with loads of different approaches and especially fun once you upgrade your cyberweare and skills. The melee combat is also meh and not as impactful or interesting unless you use the mantis blades, all the fist fights and sword fights are not as fun or impactful.
Driving in the game is dull and faster cars feel so bubbly like where the just fly all over when you get to a certain speed, and the mini map while driving really needs an improvement!!! i believe they shouldve just taken driving influence from NFS games where its exactly in between realistic and arcadey.
Story wise, OMG the story is unbelievable! its so beautiful and well crafted and so many options and paths to choose and overall i dont want to spoil anything, but wow! I have also never felt so connected to video game characters like this since the mass effect trilogy!
Tho it is missing a ton of content and scenes and you can feel the cut out content to try and rush the game but i felt like it really needed more, and i dont know who complained about how the witcher 3 was long but thats probably CDPR not showing self blame that they tried to rush this project as much as possible in the best way possible. I really wanted more acts or a opening missions and something longer that wouldnt make me feel so empty after i finished the game. I dont want to talk about much of the story to not spoil but i wish the game was longer because it needed that extra 10-20 more hours of story telling. Hopefully DLC's will make up for that.
Soundtrack is phenomenal! nothing to add much because its a 10!
So overall to not make this review entirely long im going to say that i am 100% absolutely loving the game! it does live up to the hype and im so in love with cyberpunk! tho there is missing features and cut out content that really disappointed me in a way but non the less its a well crafted game that is a must buy on pc! and i cannot wait to see what CDPR continues to bring in the future.

I really wanted to like this game, it fails on every single aspect and is an affront to all gamers. How is it possible that CDPR have fallen so low? Corporate greed, that's why. No story, broken game mechanics, the title is a mess. I spent 150 hours bravely going though the plot and hours of boring grind but in the end I was left with the feeling of emptiness and disappointment. The game looks great, but has lots of graphical glitches just as it was with gameplay. Ray tracing adds a lot of visual fidelity, but was not worth the performance cost.

Gameplay was really buggy, but it doesn't bother me until very late in the game. Vehicle physics is good, different cars feel different to drive. It has great potential for a good racing experience, but it falls short with terrable AI who can't even drive well enough on a regular road, so they have to teleport cars behind players to look like they are catching up.

The problem with gameplay is its numerical design. Players become way too strong way too early, especially with blades and hacking. I can instant kill bosses since around 30% of my play through, yet I didn't even bother to upgrade my gadgets. Gunplay is fun and challenging. So if you want to have fun during combat, don't play hacker or blade.

Stealth gameplay is weird and broken by stupid and unstable enemey AI. They sometimes can't see you even when you crawl in from of them, but sometimes react instantly without seeing you when you enter a room.

Like Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077 has really good stories along with impressionable characters. There're hundreds of snippets of stories to read, but most of them don't make much sense at all. I can see developer's effort in building an immersive world with lots of little details just like in Witcher 3, but it's just too much work.

In conclusion, I think CD Project Red was blinded by Witcher 3's success, and chewed more than they can handle. Bugs are just a result of it. 7 years is a long time for development, even for an AAA title from an experienced developer. Yet they still released the game in an unfinished state. That's just the proof of CDPR being a young company.

I originally wanted to give Cyberpunk 2077 an 8.5. But I removed 4.5 because I chosed the "bad ending". You can feel the developer is intentionally and repeatedly telling you how bad your final choices are through NPCs' dialogues. Yet I do not agree with their liberal values. But the game still drags me through an almost 2-hour long sequence, just to tell me how bad my ending is. It feels like a punishment for me, the player, for not agreeing on their liberal values.

There's a really good game hidden in here, but it's completely stifled by a lack of actual freedom and the longest and most frequent cutscenes I've ever experienced. Pretty horrible dialogue too. I played for 20 hours and then couldn't be bothered anymore

I've been very disappointed with certain aspects of this but didn't care to review until they just released a statement in which they're basically saying their focus is on fixing bugs on the old console versions which whilst obviously needed, sort of implies the other versions will have a lot less attention.

Also 3 patches from now to the beginning of march!? If those 3 patches fixed

Also 3 patches from now to the beginning of march!? If those 3 patches fixed everything then that'd be somewhat okay but they won't come close.

They're trying to put a band-aid on an amputation. The bugs & glitches are only a small part of this games problems.

Terrible AI in virtually every area
    Terrible police system
Game engine with disgustingly bad LOD's & car sprites
    NPC & Car spawn issues
Bad map UI design (easily fixed)
    Non-interactive NPC's & virtually non-reactive NPC's
    Hilarious character shadow animations etc.
Pointless dialogue options in most cases

Then other problems like the fact this 'RPG' is barely that & the open world has nothing people love about open worlds, can't go for a drink, can't go play pool, can't go to a gun range, can't go into a restaurant or food stand & get some food, no garage, no car customization or weapon customization, not as serious but it shows how lazy this game is when there's only 1 model for the prostitute in this 'mature' game that heavily marketed that area of the game.

Of course i love parts of this game & I'm not saying this should be GTA but it lacks immersion & activities & feels like a bad Ubisoft game in many ways. The developer both straight up lied about many aspects & way, way overhyped other parts. More fool us.

Without any bugs or issues listed above, I'd rate this a 7 at most for everything it lacks in RPG & open-world. With all these issues & no sign of it ever being anywhere near the game marketed, it's a 4.

My computer can run this game at high graphics with no frame issues and yet the amount of graphical bugs is insane. I see many people saying the story and characters are amazing. Really? One of the first things you see in the game, choosing your backstory, has so little impact on the story, you might as well choose one at random. I haven't beaten the story yet, so I will not talk about it too much but so far, with 15 hours into the game, it's nothing special. Combat can be fun but gets repetitive after a while for me. Hacking was a let down as I lacked RAM to do anything anyway and I found no reason to bother distracting enemies as I can just kill them in the time it takes to hack. The city has a great visual atmosphere but it feels so lifeless in terms of the npcs. Most just stay in one place and have one line of dialogue that might not even make sense in the situation. Police have practically zero impact as you can escape them by jogging down the street. The next topic is quests. I will say, some of the quests are pretty interesting but many lack a good reward to make me want to do them. Also, some quests are basically impossible to beat unless you are a certain level but are given to you at the start of the game, like the fight club quests. One of the fights will take all your health in one punch while you will do 1% damage. I could go into a lot more but that would take a 500 page book. Anyone giving this pos more than a 7 is lying to themselves as a result of blind loyalty to CDPR. I wish I could refund Expand

Magic cop appear out of nowhere, there is literally no car chase in the game, only scripted one. NCPD are so disconnected from the world.

There are major issues with this game beyond bugs. The AI, lack of meaningful choices, poor writing, and predictable mission design all take away from what was supposed to be a different sort of game. Unfortunately Cyberpunk is not much different than what we've been getting from cookie cutter AAA titles since 2015.

When the game works it is wonderful. I was trying to complete the campaign in stealth mode, but this becomes something extra frustrating, since the bugs don't allow me to do it. I won't play it again until I manage to play it the way I hope.

The best metaphor for Cyberpunk 2077 is Johnny Silverhand himself. A messiah, a mix of Kurt Cobain and Che Guevara, a talented singer who loves to shape his own legend and has a charming personality but loses the struggle with his own demons. The same goes for the game. It tells a great story and forced me to ask myself difficult questions, but many of its gameplay mechanics do not evolve and its technical state upon release was abysmal. Cyberpunk’s true hero is not a person, but Night City – a vibrant, living creature of great diversity. The beauty of the metropolis is striking. [01/2021, p.22]

Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most disturbing and mind-blowing RPGs in history, where every decision has a deep impact on our trail. CD Projekt RED tosses us to the center of a city filled with disgusting delights where every character deserves our attention in an immersive experience and overall, very rewarding. From the sarcastic and shadowy tone imposed by the countless scenes in the game, to the flexibility we have on the choices to face every situation that is presented, Night City is truly memorable. It’s a shame that the countless bugs spoil or diminish the impact of some resounding moments, but we are without a question, in the presence of one of the best games in 2020.

Measured against the extreme expectations, Cyberpunk 2077 can't fulfill any of them. But all in all, despite the countless small weaknesses and inconsistences, with interesting characters, great story and dialogues or the freedom concerning gameplay, CD Projekt delivers a unique and great RPG that every fan of the genre needs to play.
