Its amazing how so many people complain that they cant run a game that is made to be hard to run. People experienced the same thing when the first Crysis released but instead of complaining and review bombing the game on the internet, they realised that their PCs were simply not powerfull enough to run graphics that were so revolutionar.

Ascension has been added back, quite literally a list of bugs and fixes have been established, and I can say for sure that the updates going through are huge for the game, and that's what makes me want to give this a very positive review! I know this game is going to be fixed to its proper state, it's just a matter of time where hopefully update 3.0 will fix almost all of the leftover bugs, and the introduction of new features such as DLSS 2.0.

    Remaster of an amazing game.
Well I loved Crysis back in 2007, and I so like now the remaster.
I personally love the new style (other than a lot of people), the new look just looks way better. But I think some updated shooting animations would be great, as they look... well still exactly the same as in 2007. And there has to be a lot of optimization to be done, because not everybody

However considering one can buy and play the original game there is absolutely no reason to get Crysis Remastered for PC. In many areas, particularly water and lighting the original Crysis has certain stylistic decisions that make it the visually superior offering. Overall the graphics were polished and they worked.

In Crysis Remastered textures are higher resolution (but also different and so don't necessarily look better), draw distance is drastically improved and the detail of models in the distance (such as mountains) is also improved while the game is also overall brighter and higher contrast. Everything metal is also shiny thanks to the ray-tracing trend. However with worse performance across the board the visual improvement is not totally worth it. Add to this the alien models are significantly less detailed and lighting effects simplified it is hard to recommend playing the remaster over the original. In the end the improvements don't make up for the parts that are worse. At the end of the day even Crysis Remastered can't beat Crysis.

This is another in a slew of recent remasters that serve to make developers and publishers lazy by rehashing old games. Crysis 4 is the game we need, Crysis Remastered it seems is the game we deserve. The more titles like these are re-released for each platform the less we will see of brand new experiences such as Crysis 4.

My gaming rig has an i9-9900K and an RTX 3090 and my monitor is 1440p 240 Hz. If you adjust some settings the game can run above 180 fps with high textures but there are fps drops on certain areas due to poor optimisation. Also the game is very short so it’s only recommended if you find it below half price.

    Cons:

    * Game crashed a little for me initially early on in the game, but the crashing stopped shortly thereafter which was kinda strange. * They modified the way cloak mode works with the energy system which I wasn't a fan of - greatly preferred the way the original version handled that - it's basically like Crysis 2 and 3 now so the cloak doesn't engage quite as smoothly as it did in

    * Game crashed a little for me initially early on in the game, but the crashing stopped shortly thereafter which was kinda strange.
    * They modified the way cloak mode works with the energy system which I wasn't a fan of - greatly preferred the way the original version handled that - it's basically like Crysis 2 and 3 now so the cloak doesn't engage quite as smoothly as it did in original Crysis 1. Game is also missing the "cloak engaged" and other suit mode sounds which are classic Crysis.
    * The developer decided to take the Epic Games Store bribe and sell out the freedom of their customers for a year to buy the game where they want - for me this translates into never buying the game at all, and playing it somewhere else. Sad considering I own a DVD copy of the original Crysis from 2007, and I also have the Steam digital copy of Crysis & Crysis Warhead...I would have been happy to support the development studio for this game had it released on Steam initially, but I simply don't reward developers for selling me out to awful companies like Epic. If you guys ever do a Crysis Warhead remaster or future games in the franchise, release on all store fronts at the same time without Epic Online Services or any exclusives and I'll give you another chance to earn access to my wallet. I enjoy supporting developers when they exhibit pro-consumer behavior...when they don't, I don't pay for the product. Period.
    * The carrier level toward the end, when you engage the warship on the flight deck, the effective fire area seems to be far larger than it should be - I was standing in areas where there was no fire and still taking damage - this makes it very tough to survive the initial run from where the warship impacts the carrier deck as you'll take constant damage from the fire area that doesn't exist while the alien warship is also shooting at you - eventually if you keep running away, you'll finally clear the area you're taking damage, but it's just kind of up to luck on whether you survive or not.
    * This item isn't specific to Crysis 1, but they have said they don't plan on Remastering Crysis Warhead which I think is a HUGE mistake - Warhead was awesome, and I consider both Crysis 1 & Warhead to be basically two parts of the same story - usually when Nomad and Psycho split off from each other, I go back and forth playing one level at a time from each game to make the story flow more properly since they are going on at the same time for each character, and it would be really nice to have Warhead Remastered - if you read this Crytek, Remaster Crysis Warhead, and RELEASE IT ON STEAM AT LAUNCH - NO EPIC EXCLUSIVITY. I will be happy to buy it if you do this.

    Pros:

    * Excellent graphics upgrades, the game really does look and play fantastic.
    * The game runs MUCH more smoothly than it did before. Granted I have an RTX 3090 at present, but the game runs with everything, including RT set to "Very High" in 4k resolution and is butter smooth @ 60fps, so I do applaud their efforts there, as the original was pretty darn choppy at times even on a really good rig.
    * Game is also now multi-threaded with regard to CPU usage, which takes care of a LOT of the choppiness issues that were present in the original version of the game - kudos there as well.
    * Armor mode is actually useful now and absorbs damage more akin to Crysis 2 & 3.

Final Rating: 5 / 10 - I can't give it a recommended rating after the way the developer treated gamers with the Epic exclusivity, but as far as remasters go, this one was pretty darn good. Now that I have an HDR monitor as well, I will admit I enjoy playing remasters where Raytracing is enabled along with HDR - these things really add a lot to the atmosphere of a game.

Crysis Remastered is disapointing. It has improved visuals over the original but:

    - It lacks the optimization -such as CPU bottleneck-, - No gameplay improvements -such as gunplay-, - Game has visual glitches and bugs, - Same old menus, no makeup, - A direct port from Xbox360 version. - Misses some of the features like manual save and nano suit shortcuts, removed chapter etc.

Kinda like the original game more. Some of the visuals are definitely better, but I wouldn't call it "crysis remastered", it's more like some kind enb for the original game. It has performance issues and visual glitches. Maybe it's just me, but I expected more than that. Wouldn't recommend buying the remastered version, but would recommend buying the original one, it's still good.

It's a port of a console version with slightly better LOD. That tells you everything you need to know. And the fact that they put the game-breaking, crackable DRM Denuvo on it tells you that they were worried about piracy for a reason. Because it ain't worth buying.

Crysis 2007 looks more grounded with more realistic colors. Some destructive physics are actually not as good in Remastered. So many visual downgrades in general, and while yes textures and explosions look better, they're not enough to make Crysis "Remastered" a good buy in 2020. They didn't even fix performance, the game still can't utilize all your CPU cores properly! Raytracing is done via a software solution, therefore it's taxing. The "Can It Run Crysis" Ultra setting is a bad joke. Not even the best PCs can achieve a consistent 4K60 in a 13-year-old game. This isn't how you bring back one of the most beloved PC games of all-time. Maybe you shouldn't have used the Xbox 360 code as a base for the remaster too by the way. The memes aren't enough to save this terrible attempt. Do better next time.

Crysis Remastered is a good bit of nostalgia that can appeal to players who want to reminisce about the early days of the Xbox 360 and PS3. Those that are looking for a fun and quick shooter game will also find a lot of enjoyment from Crysis Remastered, but don’t expect the reinvention of the wheel because Crysis invented the wheel in the first place.

You have to be willing to forgive quite a bit to enjoy Crysis Remastered. Questionable enemy AI is bad enough, but a reduction in content is baffling, and the effort feels incomplete because of it. The extra lighting is nice, but the spotty performance is the real sore spot, as it ensures that a polished and well-performing version of the game is simply unattainable. Unless you have issues trying to run the original on your system or absolutely need controller support, you're probably better off skipping this until a better, proper remaster comes along.

For its age, Crysis is still quite fun, but I don’t think bragging about the game’s ability to vanquish any PC should still be a thing today. There are many shooters that look much better and at the same time run much smoother on the same hardware. It’s also a pity that the Warhead expansion was not remastered along the base game and there’s no trace of the multiplayer modes. [12/2020, p.56]
