Good game, excelent graphic, many weapons to use, but the singleplayer is too short, finished it only in about 7 hours, the story was good but too short.

I really enjoyed this game though it was a little short. However it is still a very nice shooter title and I would gladly recommend it and the first game in the series to people who wants some action and a nice story.

The graphics are, unsurprisingly, top notch, and the domed NYC is full of stunning detail. The character models are excellent, as are the facial animations, and the physics are impressive, as one would expect from the CryEngine. The voice acting is also strong throughout. All these factors lead to a rich and deeply immersive experience. The combat is always fun and ranges from the intense to the more nuanced, and this, along with the introduction of the bow and a more refined and simplified nanosuit, help to make stealth a satisfying option in some sections of the game. As for the aforementioned flaws; well they remain the same as with previous Crysis games, and relate mainly to the story. As before the story behind C3 is under-developed and fails to engage to any great extent. This is also the most linear of all the games, although I don’t see that as a fault -- there are plenty of open world games out there and not all games are suited to the format. It’s a pity that Crytek’s games never quite lived up to the promise of their excellent game engine. And yet despite this the Crysis games are impressive in their own way and deserve their place in the pantheon of modern video games. And at least CryEngine lives on.

The first an most important aspect to mention about Crysis 3 is this. Straight away you receive the bow, get used to it! It is the single most important part of the game. You will also see arrow ammo caches. Plus you'll scan for nano-suit upgrade tech.

The reason the bow is so important is because the game is brutal without it. It's a one-shot kill mostly and you can stay cloacked when firing. I played it on the fourth of the five difficulty settings, Super-Soldier, (no crosshair and have to aim down sights). Without the bow I died almost endlessly, but persevered on. Second play I played Veteran (middle difficulty), and used the bow. In places which took hours and maybe thirty deaths without the bow, I passed first time with the bow.

The graphics astound on full settings. They rock, mindboggling, superb, cool beyond belief. (The graphics max with maximum 8xAA which is all the game has, with the GTX970 4GB.

However some scenes still alias badly. I found using 1440p DSR (with 1080p monitor) and 4 MSAA worked well at clearing up aliasing. It takes out the dazzling effect from a lot of the bad areas. The problem is the fine details in many scenes. They have added straight lines to almost everything in indoor scenes, and everywhere they dazzle with aliasing. However I found the single GTX 970 struggled slightly at that depth of graphics demand in the intense moments. I had to revert back to 1080p and 8MSAA. It was also because every time I restarted the game in 1440p the menus were all zoomed in.

The story is brilliant so I don't understand the complaint at that. The action is solid and the guns and shooting good.

I had an issue with the training. It is narrated/guided by a woman with no respect for the genre of game type. She clearly has a sarcastic attitude to sci-fi tech in games.

The final a other point which I knock a mark off for it the final boss. Everything went wrong with it. On my first play on Super-soldier I left it without completing the game, after about fifty tries. Second play I beat it but with stressful difficulty. Firstly there's a bit of speech and you can't fire in this time. However many times I could not fire after. There's a bug. I'd be standing mashing mouse 1 for five minutes and nothing. It seems to hint that you should use ceph nano-tech power packs to get going. Anyway after about twenty-five attempts on Veteran I finally beat the boss. About twelve hours steady play.

Crysis was worth the 55 Euro´s that I´ve paid for it. The game has excellent graphics and a very nice understandable story for players who have never played the other Crysis games. I would recommend this game to everyone!

Well i bought this for what it is: A rare shooter mechanic and a good multiplayer.

Now ask yourself another question if you wanna buy this:
Do i like to be completly stealth or have armor on demand and is a normal shooter too boring in mechanics well grab this one. The multiplayer offers more game modes than you might think with cell vs rebel fighting as human and non regenerating health or do the classical one with all abilities and exchangeable perks system.
Choose between team- or normal deathmatch, capture the unmoveable flag at spear mode or steal the enemy relais while they do the same or with fixed roles (defender attacker) by playing exfiltration. Very assymetrical is the information download and well it's not really much played at all. A fun thing is the Hunter mode where it feels like playing hide and seek with guns... I played it for hours in a row but i must admit i'm not a full time shooter player.

    Now to the campain review:
    pro:

    + Excellent graphics
+ Nicely done Psycho feels very much like a real character
+ Every weapon can be so nicely modified e.g. you can use the scar as stealth sniper or as machine gun. There is no need to carry a specific weapon around with you since the modifiactions are 2 times more than in Crysis 2.
+ Enemys have chats with each other what makes it more realistic.
+ Strategy is up to you be stealth or a brutal war machine with nice exchangeable perks that make your suit best for your kind. You can sneak through the enemy lines without even having to kill soldiers or you can even do it only with your fists for most early passages. But the bow is the best item you have.

    cons:
    - too short story i wish i had a bit more for my money
    - it's not a open world which would make it much better and sometimes it's a bit too linear
    - sometimes a bit too much drama, while the extra information could be a bit different than just texts.
    - stealth is the key while armor has just not the expected use there and nanovision is simpy unused.
    - not bug free but it's playable though (i lost 2 suit upgrades, bugs at the ending)

    Now just to the multiplayer:
    pro:
+ I can now choose between suit mode or non suit mode for all challenges except hunter mode
+ hunter mode and several different capture the flag modes makes it a very enjoyable multiplayer
+ Lots of weapons to choose of and you can have 5 customizeable presets for perks and weapons
+ Weapon attachments can be modified ingame
+ No health regeneration for human mode makes it more realistic than other shooters
+ Multiplayer maps are nicely designed and well balanced for both team spawns
+ I like the fun competitions for more Xp and the Dog-tag hunt
+ You can turn off weapons if you're admin

    cons:
    - too little fanbase online makes only 20 Servers full
    - i can't modify my perks during game for the next respawn i have only the 5 presets and the 5 custom ones
    - there is no pause for respawnig during the 15-30 min matches
    - a few weapons are overpowered such as the bow, gauss rifle, L-tag and the rhino
    - no cheat prevention, but not too much cheaters over all
    - too long perk improvement you need >300 hours to improve your suit far enough for fair competition
playing human mode to avoid this takes about >200 hours to get to all weapons and all attachments if you have not more than 4 weapons

At last i want to warn those who might think of buying the DLC. There are no players on this maps making it only useable to get a rhino which is not allowed on many servers.

First of all, this is the best looking game I've ever seen and it's a better successor than Crysis 2 was (in my opinion). But now, almost 10 months after release I decided to go for it and I have to admit it was a good decision. The map design is pretty good and offers a lot of choices to play the game. Against all odds I really did enjoy the campaign, but it's necessary to know the story from the previous games to understand the whole development.
Eventually it's good to see that Crytek could turn the corner after a also good looking Crysis 2, which couldn't live up to the success of Crysis (in my opinion, just compare the rating of Crysis 2 and 3), but I also understand the negative critics: Crysis 3 delivers beautiful graphics, a solid gameplay and story, but it doesn't offer anything new.
All in all Crysis 3 is a good game.

The sci-fi story is good (not great, not memorable but good) but their attempt to give a moral message in the end was so bad that it was funny. Not to mention the numerous plot holes. Most notable improvements include the bow which is a really handy weapon when going stealth, ability to use alien weapons which causes devastating damage, a new upgrade system that gives many types of advantages in the battlefield and also the ability to hack both human and alien technologies for both defensive and offensive purposes. I also find the new databank to be interesting as it gives many Intel about the story and its characters. The music score (which is composed by Hans Zimmer btw) is really amazing. In short this game and the whole CRYSIS series is a great first person shooter sci-fi series; though not good or interesting enough to go beyond what they came so far. Expand

Furthermore the levels are HUGE, but still filled with a large variety of elements the player can use- Hack enemy turrets, shut down minefields, lure enemies away by shooting explosive barrels.. You can ALWAYS do more than simply rush through the middle of the map, shoot like a maniac and kill anything on the screen. You can flank, stealth and duck to get past the hordes of enemies- yes, this is possible!

What I still don't like is the weapon handling and mechanics- every weapon (almost) feels the same.

In the end, the game left me impressed and satisfied.

The enemies were still the same just with slightly different outfits. The same guns were reskinned and renamed. The plot was disappointing since it jumped ahead a huge gap in time and brought up factors to an extreme. Beyond realism. Despite all this, I had to admit I still had a lot of fun playing the campaign - especially on the larger, more open maps. A good step up from Crysis 2's linear ones. The graphics: probably the best aspect of the game would set the benchmark for years to come. The world is more realistic than ever and the detail is just amazing. The multiplayer was surprisingly fun and quite well done. Just a bit more content and smoothness and this would have been on par with some AAA titles. What I always wanted, however was a co-op mode. Something along the lines of the Ceph infected humans being zombies or something but that sounds a bit like Advanced Warfare's Zombie Exo Survival. Still, I would like to see something like that as well as all the improvements stated above in a future Crysis game... If they ever make another one that is. So to conclude, I had fun with this game. Just not as much as I hoped. BTW The soundtrack is awesome. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Honestly, it's a pretty solid and fun FPS game, and I feel that it's better than Crysis 2. It has more open and huge outdoor areas, which allow for more freedom than Crysis 2. The gunplay and the combat are both awesome, and the gameplay took more notes from Crysis 1, which is still the best in the franchise. My only major complaint about the gameplay is that the bow is very, very, VERY stupidly OP much of the time, to the point where it kinda overshadows much of Prophet's arsenal.
As for the story....meh. I gave up on the story of Crysis ever since Crysis 2 decided to retcon all sorts of stuff, and the story of Crysis 2 is a convoluted and poorly told mess. I DO understand the story of Crysis 2, but it's told very poorly. Here, there isn't much issue with the way the story is told, but rather the story itself. It's incredibly...generic. Resistance fights evil corporation and aliens and saves the world. The end. The story is basically the story of the Half-Life 2 trilogy, only without anything that made the story of those games so great. No real interesting or well written characters or lore.

However, the introduction of the bow, and how silenced weapon no longer deplete your cloak energy, have made stealth too over-powered. Along with some of the suit upgrades for stealth, you can even stealth kill every single enemy in the area without breaking a sweat. This had made the game too easy for stealth missions.

The visor is finally very useful. And I'd say, it had become too useful, to the point that abusing the visor had made the game into easy mode.

The shooting and action are pretty enjoyable, and the enemy design are finally more fair. Enemies that are annoying to kill in the previous games are still here, but this time they are easier to kill because you can approach them in multiple ways now.

The plot doesn't make any sense. Although the game plot standalone in itself is okay-ish, it doesn't really fit the sequels at all. At first I thought this is like a pre-sequel to Crysis 2, until the end only I realize it is a sequel. It makes no sense at all.

There was some evolution in the graphics from 2 to 3 and they are beautiful!
Gameplay is fluid, with some weapon additions and nanosuit improvements.
In terms of upgrading the Nanosuit, I preferred 2.
The story is interesting but it's very short, lasting about 6 hours and that's it.
The game is a lot of fun while it lasts, too bad it doesn't last long.

Good but not great the graphics look excellent when maxed out but aiming and shooting feels off. its like a mix of mouse acceleration and smoothing very much like your pushing a controllers thumb stick with your mouse and when you use scopes with a high zoom it gets even worse. The game definitely promotes shootouts, there are lots and lots of weapons and ammo spread over each and every map. You can do it easy with the bow but it is meant for inept gamers. There have been added some cool pieces of hardware to mount on your weapons. If you want a challenge, you`ll be using just about every piece of equipment and vehicles for destruction and let me tell you it is so good! Yes, the game is a little slow at first but it picks up pretty quick when the cephs show up. They jump around, try to corner you, hide when low on health. The locations are actually okay. There definitely is incentive to visit every corner of each map, strike at one location, retreat and attack from a different direction. This is not a corridor shooter like some poeple say. For this reason I played Crysis3 purely in singleplayer and it took me 15hours. Yes, fifteen instead of five some people say. I would agree there are too many cutscenes I`d think made just to show off the graphics. Don`t get me wrong, graphics are very good, maybe the best, but we`ve seen that already in Crysis2. The final bossfight is mediocre at best. If you can buy it for not more than 30$ then I wholeheartedly recommend this game. Overall a good game with some nice moments but forgettable in the end. Great game, both in terms of graphics and gameplay. The campaign is a bit dry and the A.I isn't all that great. but it is entertaining nonetheless. Multiplayer isn't fantastic either; limited CoD-like game modes, awkward maps and really unbalanced weaponry, but again, it is good fun just to sit back and play.

I would recommend it, but only if you're going to pay less than £30 for it.

Also, I would say that Crysis 2 has some better stand-out moments and fun encounters, particularly with Cell. Apart from the mid-game boss, the Ceph are pretty much the same as before boring, but fun to kill. There are a couple of levels in this game that are epic and really well-designed, but as a whole this is a shooting gallery I have little intention or desire to replay through, unlike the previous games. A word on the multiplayer I had a go at it and gave up after about 10 minutes. Hunter-mode is just stupid. It's bad enough in multi-player games getting killed and not knowing where from, as it is. But this time it's from a guy who's wearing an invisible cloak, so er even less fun. Deathmatch is fast-paced, but there are certainly more fun MP options out there for FPS fans. In short, this Crysis has hit the mark in some areas but I feel a little disappointed especially at the end where my PC froze at the end boss, and I had to watch the ending on YouTube. It was worth the half-price point I managed to buy it at but I'm not sure it was everything I hoped for if I spent anymore on it.

The multiplayer was also not bad, although personally I lost interest after a couple of afternoon sessions.

This game has a stunning graphic. Jaws will drop several times. The audience behind the player will cry that they do not have a strong computer too. But as always, graphic wow will fade over time and Crysis 3 will be naked.

This game is the same as Crysis 1 was perhaps little better. You do not play it for fun, fresh and intense shooter experience. Despite the fact, that Crytek wants to persuade you, its opposite and all this nanosuit's features, opponents and shooting are incredibly cool they are not. You play Crysis 3 for tessellated water, global illumination and particle shadows. Then you will return to first F.E.A.R., Far Cry and Unreal, if you want to play a real good shooter.

However, in the fluffy world of Crysis with no gore, weak shaking weapons and weak opponents, Crysis 3 is the best of all! It is not an infamous Crysis 2 at least on PC. Combat, whenever its EAlized boring averageness, is the funniest of all in the franchise. Broken New York is full of interesting scenes and when the game tells you "look, this is cool", it actually is cool. Not like Crysis 2 "oh damn, another falling skyscraper scene, sigh".

You are an enhanced super-soldier, the ultimate killing machine developed through nanotechnology, and that fact is fleshed out during gameplay- you can do all the things that you would expect you could do. [April 2013]

While it is technically the best version of Crysis out there, it is really only a slightly better version of Crysis 2’s mechanics and graphics. Because of that, Crysis 3 feels more like an expansion pack to Crysis 2 than a true sequel and more than likely not worth your time.

A series we're glad to see come to a close. But if you like games with HEAPS of graphics, or for the multiplayer. [Apr 2013, p.82]
