There is a moderately interesting story line contained in the main story missions, but the primary attraction is in user-contributed content (maps) that add many, many hours of play to the game. For the earliest CW1, there is now over 6,000 user maps. For CW3, there is already nearly 300 user-contributed maps.

In all the versions, there is also a random map generator - the Dial Map Device (DMD) in Creeper World 3. As with other aspects of the game, the DMD has been greatly enhanced and creates fun and exciting maps to customize and play - there are almost as many DMD maps uploaded for players to play as there are user-maps.

The addition of an in-game programming language and image support has allow map makers to add custom units and quite differentiated game play on some maps. If you can think of a "thing" you want to add to a map - CRPL it! :)

Really fun, well worth the modest, indie pricing and sure to provide many hours of play for those people into Tower Defense or Real Time Strategy games. The thriving user community in the forums at Knuckecracker is an added bonus. :)

THe game has been greenlit on Steam and it will soon also be part of my Steam inventory.

I've been hooked on Creeper World since the first game. Creeper World 3 has some very welcome additions, like bigger maps, more interesting AI and more units to build and use. Even the storyline changes a little bit by the way you play the missions. If you complete the storyline there will be 100's if not 1000's of other interesting maps to play!

(CRPL, Creeper Reversed Polish Language) Game has different sectors, like: Alpha Sector (Missions from Alpha and Beta times), Prospector Zone (Where you collect Artifacts of Odin.), Tormented Space (Challenging worlds), Colonial Space (In game browser for custom maps) and Arc Eternal (Story mode). This game is a must have, if you love RTS games and even if you haven't played Creeper World 1 & 2, but I suggest you to try them too. Expand

The Creeper World series offers a fresh and interesting take on the strategy genre. Creeper World 3 is for me, the best of the trilogy. For the uninitiated, your main opponent is the Creeper, an expanding mass of sentient ooze, which destroys anything it touches. You must construct an energy network to support a variety of weapons to push the Creeper back. This doesn’t quite do justice to the complexity of the game, as there are a lot of different structures and weapons, and you can do things like modify the terrain to hold back the Creeper, and manufacture your own Creeper.

It’s a lot of fun to play, at once fast paced and highly strategic, and quite different from the standard strategy fair. There’s also the option to pause the game, to plan and place buildings if the pace is too much. For me, a lot of the fun comes from finding the most efficient way to push back the Creeper in a variety of situations.

It looks good, and sounds great. What’s happening is always clear and there’s some really nice tracks to listen to as you play. In addition to the story campaign, there is an enormous amount of content. Several different space sectors to investigate, 100s of user made maps, and a map generator. Highly recommended to strategy fans.

Story mode seems kind of short, but the amount of custom maps, and the use of CRPL scripting in said custom maps, makes up for this. Great game. 10/10

Creeper world series has been amazing, I've loved every minute. I was so excited when creeper world 3 was released, and it lived up to all of my expectations. Extremely addictive gameplay, amazing campaign, great replayability/endgame, amazing custom maps.

Not only due to its new concepts and 'the creeper', but the whole thing is brilliantly executed. The strategic aspects of the game will make you think, a lot. The story is thought provoking and ultimately plausible which is totally terrifying to me.

Add to that unlimited user created content, online play, and the ability to customize your own battle maps. After over 50 hours with this game I have yet to find a real flaw and I'm thoroughly addicted.

One of the most addictive games I have played for a long time. Hours upon hours of content to play after you beat the main story (which isn't too bad for a tower defense game), along with thousands of maps created by other players that can be downloaded and played in a few seconds. Possibly the best £11 that I have spent in years.

This review means nothing at this late date, but feels mandatory given my responses to later games by this dev

CW3 is probably my favorite game of all time. It's hard to pick favorites but it's definitely up there.

The Creeper World series' gameplay is unique and satisfying and this is the best iteration of it. Absolutely stellar experience, could not recommend more.

Being a huge fan of CW1 having played for many hours and made maps for it as well, I rushed out and got CW3 on the first day. I grow bored when I play and I feel like I am drowning in an overwhelming amount of micromanagement. I can totally see CW3 IS in the spirit of CW1, it just got a bit too much for me, and the simplistic yet very strategic gameplay got a bit lost in the upscaling. CW3 is CW1 faster bigger better stronger, no doubt about that and maybe if I had more time on my hand I could appreciate the strategic parts more.
That said CW3 is still far better and more strategic than almost anything else, its just not as good as CW1. Don't take this as negative, it's just that CW1 was one of the best games to come out in years, so it is almost impossible to reach that same magic formula. Support a real indie developer and get a very good game.. although I would suggest (sorry Virgil), buying CW1 first hehe.

Fun tower defense kind of game. You are fighting self-replicating organisms that slowly fill the map. The story spawns billions of years and countless civilizations that got wiped by this organism. You are discovering what it is and why it exists.

No two maps are alike, and while I found the difficulty level to be pretty low, it still makes for fun 30-60 minute games.

A masterpiece. It took me 5 years to find it and I proposed and since it couldn't accept, I considered it a yes. Thus.

Game that can be played casual while watching tv. This way it summed up to 342 hours playtime for me. It has a story mode and two challenging modes where you free planets - some only could be done with cheats.

It is a very good tower-defense-like game that scores with unique gameplay - not with graphics.

By improving the original formula with lots of cool details, Knuckle Cracker created an addictive, albeit derivative, TD game.
