An intense and pretty game dragged down by repetitiveness and scarcity of bosses. [07/2017, p.62]

It's a good dungeon crawler, but it really shines when played with friends. Together with its remarkable audiovisual presentation, it's a very solid choice.

Crawl spent a long time getting to where it is now, and the results speak for themselves – it's the best time you'll have knifing your friends in the dark, betraying all bonds, and desperately trying to escape the clutching tentacles of the abyss.

I had the pleasure to play this one with friends and it was lots of fun. Pickens approves and tries to crawl out of his dungeon to find more games.

Even while it's only in early access, the game could stand as a full release, ripe with content and fluid gameplay.

As it is, here's what our top three elements of Crawl are:

Aesthetics: Not only is it beautiful but the sound design and music is ingenious. It seriously never gets much better than this; the consistency between each aesthetic style is striking, making the player want to stay in as long as they can endure.

Content Diversity: It's fantastic to see so much content already and they're updating it with more by the week. Player advancement leads to many different paths, which allows for a large span of strategies, which in our book is great design.

Game Balance: Even the player that has been in last place has a chance of redemption throughout the entirety of the game. This not only allows for more strategies, but more importantly it allows for every player to have fun regardless of their status in each game.

All in all there's very little that we can say bad about Crawl other than we want to see the finished version. It still runs the risk of losing it's strong game balance with the release of additional content, but we have our hopes that it will remain strong.
