I Played this game(s) for 40 hours and 100%ed it. Had some fun, specially in the last 2 games. However, this type of platforming just doesn't fly anymore, it requires pixel perfect jumps and makes you have to redo 5+ minute long levels when you game over.

It's probably worth a buy for the people who wants the nostalgia though.

    regarding the first game:

half of it is the same thing over and over and over and then you have this thing, this thing where you don't smash the boxes, not because you're lacking in skill, but because you couldn't anticipate how the game would change the rules, or how the boxes would be hidden off screen. on top of that there's all these stupid gotchas and these platforms that look

on top of that there's all these stupid gotchas and these platforms that look like you should be able to stand on them but can't (meanwhile you can run along the ropes on high hog or whatever the name of that stage is).

and on top of that you have to replay several stages.

stages where you don't have depth perception any more because they're too dark for you to see the shadow that normally lets you know where you are.

on fumbling in the dark the platforms (spiders) don't appear til you're already mid air, you can't see your shadow to judge approximate distance, and they're not even spaced out to match your jump distance if you just hold forward, it's **** baffling.

I just don't get any of these design ideas. the game is easy enough but when they try to make anything "difficult" it tends to just lean towards tedium

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I was very close to giving a red thumb to this Crash Bandicoot™ N. Sane Trilogy. I took this game thinking naively that it should be good just because Crash Bandicoot is a big name in video games, but frankly, these games have aged a lot.

I'll start with the positive points: there is a lot of content there. I guess one could rush the three games in something like 25 or 30 hours, but there is a lot of bonuses to unlock and speedruns to complete. I've spent almost 74 hours on these games and I could take a few more hours to unlock the last few achievements, but I won't. Time trials are quite challenging, and most of the interest of these games probably lies there, in trying to finish each of the levels as fast as possible. Beyond the plateformer, this game is interesting mostly as a speedrunning game.

And the negative points... well, most of the rest. First of all, you have to understand what I didn't know when I bought this game: this is not a 3D-platformer. This game mostly alternates between 2.5D levels, and 3D levels which are completely linear (like long corridors, sometimes with a choice of path to make). This gets quickly repetitive and boring. Even more problematic is the rest of the design of these levels, hardly ever surprising, sometimes with cumbersome mechanics (weird backtracking to get all the boxes of the level) or even obsolete mechanics, like levels when you run down with the camera looking up, preventing to see where you're going.
Additionally, the game is difficult (not insanely difficult, but harder than an average platformer) but not for the right reasons. The camera angles are extremely static and prevent the player for appreciating well the distances between adjacent platforms. Most of the time you'll fall, not because you really failed your jump, but because the gap between the platforms is unreadable. To make things worse, the hitboxes are very inaccurate. You'll be hit by enemies although you think you'll have dodged, and you'll fall from the border of platforms you'll think you had reached. This can be very frustrating at times.

There is absolutely no way to know where some of the bonus levels are, except searching the solution on the Internet.
For example, the level Eggipus Rex of Crash 3 is reached by getting caught by a given pterodactyl of the level Dino Might. The problem is, there are many of these creatures in this level, and all of them except this one kills you if you hit them. There is no way to distinguish them, hence you could only find this level by pure luck, which I find lame.
And finally, I'd like to point out the lack of the practicality of the in-game menu, which does not allow a player to restart a level if not in time trial mode (I see no reason why this shouldn't exist) and does not allow restarting a time trial if an unsatisfying time, yet unlocking a relic, was just performed. This results in having to leave and restart levels sometimes, which is a big loss of time since the loading times are not that short.
Bonus: props to the devs for making the easiest final boss ever in gaming, that is, Cortex in Crash 2, so ridiculously easy and short that I thought it was just the preliminaries before a bigger fight.
Well with all that said, it remains a decent platformer on which I spent a decent amount of time, but I don't think it was worth remastering these games, whose level design aged dramatically.

Игра устаревшая для нашего времени, даже такой крутой ремейк ей не помог. 4 часть намного лучше.

Childhood game sometimes should stay in the childhood or on the right platform. The PC version was a disaster for me. Had fun in the beginning but it quickly became a try hard session where every single step must be learned in order to complete some level. (Especially when you try to complete the game at 100%)
Not for me i guess or maybe i needed a friend to play with just like the good

    Good game, but unnecessarily difficult.
I can understand why it was a fan-favorite back in the day, and the remake/remaster is really well done. However, platformers like this one should be aimed at a wider audience in my opinion.

I gave up after a few hours, because I can't be bothered to jump up a bunch of platforms over and over again.

Crash once again shows why it is one of the best platformers and a cult classic, now for PC, Xbox and Switch users to enjoy in it.

A faithful remake of the original trilogy, seen for the first time on PCs. Original late 90’s gameplay in a modern and aesthetically pleasing realization, with welcome additions like the timed challenges for all three titles. A remake done right and the best version of the game across all platforms.

A well-made remaster with beautiful modern visuals and outdated platforming rooted firmly in the past.
