10/10. Battle mechanics and gameplay are solid, although type variety is low and there don't seem to be any dual-types which is disappointing. Like others have said it can be pretty puzzle-heavy at times but it doesn't detract from the experience and it's much more tolerable after the first dungeon. Monster design, graphics, and OST are charming, while it borrows from the Pokemon formula it's distinctive enough to have its own identity and so far I'd argue it does a better job of it than Nexomon & Temtem. The reduced multiplayer component compared to other games in the genre is a slight letdown but it's easy enough to find all the mons without trading & the battle scene is alive and well. Expand

HOLY SMOKES this game is absolutely fantastic. It looks so polished and well thought out. I-I have never played such a good monster taming game. I was used to very low standards with all the mainline Pokemon games that I forgot what makes them fun and interesting.
I really don't know if I can ever play a mainline Pokemon game again. lol.
It has charm, polish AND style.

Imagine if Pokemon never went all pseudo-3d after Diamond/Pearl, this is Coromon. I'm loving this game so far. I'm sure there's a hefty demo on Steam to try but the game cost me less than $15 anyways.

Any looking for a proper 'mon itch. Play this, you won't regret it

The game builds on a familiar foundation but isn't afraid to experiment, an aspect that the slightly stagnant Pokémon franchise should adopt and dig into its core mechanics. Coromon simply bets on variation, and the bet pays off. [Issue#319]

Coromon is a game that wants to look at Pokemon from another angle and disappears too much in other details. We capture creatures with instruments that return to the ball place and save the world every once in a while. However, with the exception of the puzzles that infuriate you, lovers of the genre will play with great pleasure.

Coromon is a game filled with potential but past sinking sands and perplexing puzzles it starts to fall flat. Fans of the genre will be delighted by the levels of customization thanks to the potential system and easy skill switching. Though, once you beat the roughly twenty-three or so hour campaign you'll find little to do. While some elements are stated to be getting worked on, two months after release, the game is still the same. Hopefully those who are waiting on the delayed Switch and mobile release will get them at the same time as any major updates to the game. For the PC and budget gamer, however, this is still a fine choice, and there is an accessible demo letting you play the start of the game. The shake-ups do let Coromon stand on its own and create an enjoyable experience, but it could’ve evolved to be something a little more.
