Amongst the echoing complaints, I feel Tales of Valor accomplished its job as being an expansion for 30$US/CDN. I'd give it 9.5/10 for MP, 5/10 for SP. This clearly is multi-player oriented expansion. Since I play CoH mostly on-line, I give it high overall score. Single player missions are short and easy. There are 3 campaigns of 3 missions each (9 missions in total), but calling it campaigns is exaggeration. Actually it's more like 3 missions split into 3 mini-missions each. What I do like about them, is that they are lot more dynamic, then the classic matches. As for direct fire -- well, the only use I've found for it was in the 1st and 3rd mission of SP. Expand

Quit your whining, CoH gives you exactly what they are selling, no less and no more. Tales of Valor is a good title for CoH diehards and new players alike, as it allows access to all the multiplayer content while adding new modes and units. The game however lacked polish and had serious balance issues that took several patches to address. The game was also rushed because of Financial conditions at Relic. That the user would be unable to controll such units under any circumstance. The idea of bringing in reinforcements to supply units with refreshed man power should not have to just be done for the replacement of casualties, but also battle fatigue. Though this realism may be to complex for those who wish to just play a game like AoE. As my first game for COH, I was very pleased over all and enjoy the time spent playing online. Expand

I have ill-spent hundreds of dollars on similar WWII strategy games. Company of Heroes (COH) is by far the best I have ever seen. That being said, their expansions have no let downs

Its a very good game for its price - 3,99 US. Im glad I bought it with 80% discount. The game is very entertaining and deserves a try. It really pays off and its not of a regreatable kind.

The missions are an interesting introduction to the different gameplay you can expect from the multiplayer. However, the campaign is ridiculously short (4 hours tops) and the hero units are way too strong. This is the only downside to the expansion: you will be dissapointed if you expect the same level of storytelling and long campaigns that were the trademark of previous COH campaigns. On the plus side, the AI is ridiculously strong now, and expert computers make for a very good practice when there's nobody else online. They are aggressive, have good capping orders, and the cpu is vicious and relentless. The new units are a mixed bag, and they are fairly balanced, letting players try out different types of playstyle. For example, the M17 is a glass cannon that trades the armor and mine-laying abilities of the M8 for a more powerful rapid-firing cannon and very weak armor. It is a worthy addition to your collection. Expand

A great game in its original form and ToV adds more to the fun. The campaigns are enjoyable but some what short but then again there are 3 of them. Some people are saying its easy, but i don't think they figured out that you can turn it up to hard or expert, because then its a pain (in a good way). The real gem in this game are the new multiplayer modes. They are simply awesome. A great game in its original form and ToV adds more to the fun. The real gem in this game are the new multiplayer modes. They are simply awesome. Though they stray from the normal RTS type gameplay they still fit in to the game and add amlot of variation. The new units are basically the same as the ones they replace (for the most part). So no biggie there but its nice that they did something for the normal pvp game. A little expensive for what you get but if you don't have The original CoH or Opposing Fronts or neither, then this is a great way to unlock all the factions and get the new multiplayer modes. Expand

Ronny really ought to play the whole game before he "bothers" to give a review. 8 out of 10. A solid game at a budget price. Relic are the masters in the RTS genre. Hopefully we'll have another full campaign in the CoH saga soon, I"d really like a go with the Russians on the eastern front. Keep em comin.

If you're a new player to the series, it comes with the full suite of company of heroes multiplayer. If you're a veteran, the new modes may offer little and you may want to wait until this game goes cheap. The new dota mode, tanks battles and survival mode add many hours to this game. Must have pc exclusive!

Sadly it is bugged for me and I have to restart my computer every time I want to play it since it wants to do a patch and then says content locked.

I bought this in a bundle with COH and COH II with all the expansions so hard to say how if fares as a standalone product, but COH in general has been a great overall experience.

It is war on a personal level - instead of entire units, battles are fought by carefully selected small groups of individuals. It would be possible to come to know each of them, were it not for the short span of this standalone expansion. [May 2009]
  2. It just doesn't hang together as a coherent package in its own right, and while the gameplay certainly doesn't sully the memory of the original, the thin spread of content is cause for concern.
  3. Gamers who spend the majority of their time in single-player modes should pass this one by. If you’re an online-focused player, though, Tales of Valor provides hours of amusement, especially if the community takes advantage of the excellent mod tools to flesh out the map selection.
